As an American beer enthusiast, this pub is a hidden gem. Hands down the best selection of beer I found during my week in London. The staff was very friendly and it was great low-key vibe. Once you get your fill of drinking Camden beer at “classic UK” pubs, and you’re looking for a great beer experience, do yourself a favor and visit The Rake - you’ll be glad you did!

Cosy little pub, with a wide selection of beers some reasonably priced and some extremely expensive, good vibe though and nice outside seating area. Pork scratchings were next level.

Always nice to come back to The Rake. First visit in around 4 years and it's comfortingly familiar. Still a good selection of beers on tap but doesn't seem to have nearly as many in cans/bottles. All good though. Both beers I had were great. Definitely be back... Edit: and I came back. Had some kind of hell which was very tasty. Same friendly atmosphere and great selection of beers.

(June 2010) More of a beer bar than pub but a very good one at that. Plenty of bottles with focus of Germany and US. About 8 taps inc Sierra Nevarda and Flying Dog. Fantastic beer garden. Recommended, particularly on a sunny day.

A birthday treat, and we had a gift voucher from family to spend. Started with ash-baked beetroot and oysters. Mains were delicious, 30 day aged steaks (we opted for rump) cooked to medium-rare perfection with beef dripping chips and buttered greens. Shared a sticky toffee pud with clotted cream as we were quite full! It was a birthday treat, a single candle, skillfully piped chocolate message on the pudding plate, and a glass of prosecco each! Fabulous! Our waiter was attentive, spot on with recommendations, and really added to our experience - thank you, Feargal!

The German (?) barmaid is the unfriendliest and rudest I have ever encountered in a bar; truly appalling customer service.

I'm very into trying different beers, so having a place right by my work that rotates it's taps pretty much daily is great. Much prefer it here, standing in Borough Market with a small flight, than cramming into a standard pub in the area. Also enjoy that you can grab a takeout from nearby (Franco Manca or Bao etc) and bring it in to enjoy with your beer

Been my favourite pub in London for a decade now. Great selection of different beers in an unusual setting and a nice atmosphere. The pub is tiny but even in winter the outside area is big enough that there’s always space to stand, and it’s covered and sheltered. Just check the alcohol percentages (and prices) if you’re going to order something particularly unusual!

We came for sunday brunch. Food was average. Nothing stands out. Service was good. Reasonable price.

I previously gave it 3 stars a few yrs ago as ever time we went it was awful for various reasons. Went again Oct 24 & it was much better. Outside was shut for renovations so look forward to trying again next time we're near

Tiny wee micropub in Borough Market with a fantastic range of beers. Four unusual real ales from smaller breweries as well as a load of keg craft beers from UK and further afield. Prices are decent for this part of town, around £5 for a pint of ale or £7 odd for keg. Lovely!

Obviously a good bar with fine beer. But I don’t want eye-rolling from the barmaid when I ask to have a pint topped up when it’s only three quarters full.

5 star on my previous review, 5 start again, star for the 3rd time I've been asked to update the review! Great little craft ale and larger pub, with amazing 5* pork scratchings. Good and friendly service! Also started doing a stamp card scheme. If you don't go here you're missing out!

If you don't know the Rake stop reading immediately and head there NOW! Tiny little gem with great staff and impressive selection of beers. I do my best to have a pint there anytime I'm around!!

Small but friendly place with excellent but pricey beer selection. No need to worry about food with the market being right next door. Grab a bite then come here to eat it with a pint. Was a little shocked that my pint of IPA cost 11 Pounds but there were slightly less expensive options on the menu. Just review the pricing and consider accordingly.

Borough Market absolutely heaving, and this place just next to it just hidden enough to have space to sit and enjoy a beer from a broad selection. Aaaand relax 🍻

A little gem of a place. Tucked down a side street right by Borough Market. Excellent beer selection served by experienced staff in pleasant surroundings. Also the only pub I could find in the area that is open at 11am! Great for small groups or simply to escape from the hustle of the market,

Barlady today didn’t know what she was doing. I’ve asked for IPA she was going to serve me pale ale. Then when I’ve asked to read labels properly she served DIPA for £15 a pint (which is overpriced even for DIPA). Not giving 1 star just for a wide selection of craft beers and nice terrace.

A simply perfect pub right on Borough Market. You can bring the food you bought at the market and eat it there. There are countless types of beer in all sizes here. The staff is very friendly, the outdoor area is simply great. I come here every time I visit Borough Market. Absolute recommendation from me!

Love this pub. Independent yet still great value for money on a vast selection of guest beers. I first drank Punk IPA in here in 2010 before they had presence anywhere.

On a damp Tuesday it was a welcome break to be here and not a chain pub. Good beers, encouraged to sample before buying, great for a solo pint or two.

Tried the blackcurrant stout beer and it was absolutely the best discovery ever! You can't find this beer anywhere else but here. It's unique, flavorful, great balance between a stout and a bitter ? Can't even describe it properly, you must try it !

Tucked away in the only quiet corner of borough market is their fantastic little craft beer bar. It's a great escape after battling through the market. No kids allowed inside either.... Heaven. Well worth a visit, excellent beer, friendly knowledgeable staff and honestly the peace and vibe you get from here is amazing!

Great little pub/tap-room. All about offering plenty of options on tap, there were 15 or 20 I think. Friendly service.

In my opinion it used to be better here. There is still a good choice of beer but today there was only one cask offering. The real thing that lets it down is the indifferent service. I dont expect a lot but a smile and a please or thank you is surely mandatory!

Situated on the right in the direction of the City, as you exit the hustle and bustle of Liverpool Street Station, and as a previous reviewer noted, this cocktail 🍸 lover's paradise, could easily be missed. Seat yourself in opulent surroundings and sip cocktails until your heart's content! Ensure that you take a little time to peruse the petit cocktail booklet and order one of their hand crafted cocktails. It may take a little time, but I can assure you, it will be well worth the wait: they were absolutely exquisite, and I yearned for more! Neither was I disappointed by the accompanying food. I selected the cured salmon and smoked cod, dressed in a creamy avocado mayonnaise. These perfectly balanced flavours fused together in a dish that was perfect for lunch: satisfying but not too heavy. I noted that they also serve oysters 😋 with champagne and bottomless options too on a Saturday, so a return visit is definitely on the cards!

First time I've been here for about 10 years. I won't leave it so long next time. Excellent beer selection, goes without saying.

Lovely little bar. Great choice of local (and American) craft beers. Good place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of Borough Market, decent amount of seating in the beer garden. Yes it's expensive but in my opinion worth it.
