The Raj Indian Cusine in Swale

The food is sugar and oil disguised as curry. A sea of sauce with nothing in it except a few bits of lamb. Vegetables are non-existent, even in the vegetable options, there are 4 green beans, 1 brussel sprout, a sliver of carrot. It's just poor quality food, that needs all the sugar and fat to disguise this. The mint sauce is alarming, no food should glow in the dark! There's no freshness or real food, just various versions of coloured sugar and fat. This is probably just Indian takeaways in general.

Went in here after a day out in faversham, food was excellent, sag panoir especially.. We had Chicken tikka mosala, garlic chilli chicken and onion bahjis....everything had a lovely taste and the garlic chilli chicken was lovely and spicy. Only gave 4 stars for atmosphere as only us and another couple in there..it was around 5.30pm ish 🤣🤣 imagine it gets very busy in the evenings 👍🏻 Will go again, when I'm in the area😎

Great food as always ,well worth a try

Got to be the worst take away curry I’ve ever had. It turned up quick and it was hot so I’ll give them that but that’s only because they forgot to actually put the spices in it. The blandest weakest jalfrezi known to human kind. Just basically a cheap tin of tomatoes and some chicken. I can make a better curry at home with my eyes shut. Absolute let down. Knew I should of just got a kebab 😂

On a 2 night break from Manchester Went in for dinner Tuesday night and it didn't disapoint excellent food better than anything we have eaten on the curry mile in Rusholme Manchester

Lovely flavour, well prepared, nice and hot (temperature). Rice portion could be slightly. Bigger! Excellent veg curry with very tasty kulcha Nan.

Buffet Thursday a must. Bargain prices. Beautiful food and beverages and excellent service. Highly recommend. In the historic town of Faversham, West Street.

First time with a take away from this place. Service was polite and prompt but flavours were a little flat, not the usual combination of garlic, ginger and cumin from a tandoori specialist. Garlic Naan was lacking in garlic. Worth a try though.

Excellent service, fantastic food. I had the Raj special with limes, not sure what it was called and can’t seem to get the menu online , it was as good as a curry gets.

Excellent value on the 'banquet' nights which offer a fixed price for courses from across the whole menu. We also enjoyed a surprisingly nice bottle of merlot for less than £20

Felt very looked after here, I have children from toddler to teenage and all needs were met. Very welcoming. Had a really authentic feel to the restaurant and the food was amazing.

Beautiful food and beer and the staff are excellent. Garlic chili lamb in particular is incredible!

Please be aware that when ordering poppadoms, listed on the menu at 90P each + 85P for the dips, that you will get a further charge of £1 per person for a 'plate' (5 x £1) that is not shown anywhere on the menu, meaning that five of us were charged £9.95 for four poppadoms, disgusting! Although there is a card machine, this restaurant wanted cash.

We were really looking forward to our evening but unfortunately the food was terrible, we won't be going again.

Average. For the money it is overly expensive and no free poppadom which many restaurants give when spending over say, £30. The chicken tikka masala was very good; a creamy, thick sauce with a generous helping of chicken. Their sag poneer is one of my favourites. The rice was fine. My criticisms are that every dish was overly sweet and my vegetable saag swimming in oil. All dishes rather bland in flavour. Delivery was super quick. The Raj can be a bit it and miss as I’ve had delicious takeout from their before. I would go back, but I think the restaurant is likely better than the takeout.

We ordered take away, so I guess we couldn’t really ask the waiter why on earth was our curry sweet. Dessert like sweet, my butter chicken tasted like a twisted 1970s recipe. My partner’s Dhansak was spicy and still very sweet, you couldn’t avoid that sugary taste. Our toddler loved I have to say, so I am sure his developing taste buds would give more than one star but I truly can’t as one is generous enough.

I wish there was a 0 star option. The dips and pickles that are for your poppadoms they re use. I watched them with my own eyes do it and when I confronted the man working there to ask if that was the case he fully admitted it and said it’s what they do and have always done to stop waste. So not only have you dipped your poppadoms/ food and potentially your fingers into these dips so has however many customers before. Your paying and using re used dips I feel physically sick and wish I had noticed before I had used so much of it and even eaten any food here. Cross contamination on another level and I will be taking this further. This should not be allowed, and it’s absolutely disgusting!! Never will I be returning. I even called another local restaurant to ask if this is something that is a common thing and they said absolutely not. I think this place needs shutting down immediately if this is what they see as normal!

Good Indian restaurant in Faversham. The food was actually really good, although the rice portions that we asked for were on the smallish side when compared to the main dish. There was only one waiter which made the experience a little bit impersonal and rush, but the food was really good.

We went to Raj Indian cuisine for a valentines meal. We'll what can I say, food was out this world, well presented and only 1 staff serving all in restaurant he done 100% service. Highly recommend and will be returning

We came here for the first time since we moved here in over 1 year (I moved back after a few years away but still had never tried this place). I have to say, we were impressed! The decor is quite nice and subtle yet smart. The ambience was a little quiet when we went, although we did go early evening on a Friday. The service was friendly and thorough. The food, which is the most important bit, was actually excellent! All of our dishes tasted so good! We would definitely recommend this place and we will definitely be back!

Great little place, the decor is a bit tired but you aren't eating the building. The food was very good, hot and presented well. The service is second to none as was the accuracy of the order. Friendly attentive staff. All in all a great evening out and the second time I've visited, it won't be the last time either.

Price of food not bad and starter (Salmon) quite good. Main course (Tandoori Mixed Grill) had awful smell (I think they put Ghee on it) and meat was tasteless) What really annoyed me was the drinks prices. Had two pints of shandy, effectively one pint of lager and a pint of lemonade, and it was £ 11 !!! Also, two old bags sat opposite me started discussing their feet operations in detail. Lovely. No wonder there was hardly anyone in Shan't be going here again

Went on a recommendation. Poor food. Lamb starter was not particularly fresh. Main meal was a disappointment, Tarka Dahl more like chicken stock with chives thrown in for colour. Beer was ok. Quite expensive considering, and the toilets where filthy! Service was ok. I can’t recommend:-( And a bout of Ghandi’s revenge too.........

A great family run restaurant. You'll find authentic Indian/Bangladeshi good here that tastes great. The service is quality too. There space for about 40 individuals so you can book a small party if needed.

Went on a Banquet night to try out. Bombay potatoes not Spicey. Dansaks way too sweet. Put us off going again. Staff were very friendly and helpful, shame about the food.

My least favourite Indian restaurant in Faversham. Dishes too sweet.

Thought we would try this restaurant for a night out but totally ruined by awful food. No evidence of prawns in the prawn purée, chicken like rubber in both Murgy masala and chicken makhani. Both chicken dishes smothered in a sickly cream sauce. Pashwari naan only contained coconut and no sign of sultanas and almonds. Poppodums were ok. Not to be repeated.

Dirty, mediocre food, long wait. If it makes any difference to you they have been prosecuted more than once for employing illegal immigrants. If you are in Faversham there are other Asian restaurants to choose from all of which are better.

The best food in the world and really good staff

A friend of mine and I were here last night. It took me a long time to make up my mind and to finally order as there was a very rich and assorted menu à la carte. Staff always attentive and friendly. We both left very satisfied and are looking forward to have an other great dinner at The Raj.
