The Raj in Fylde

It pains me to leave a negative review for this place. I try to be fair with any review I write. There’s no argument from me, the food from The Raj is absolutely perfect. In fact, I’ve never had a bad meal from here. However, over the past few months the service has been nothing short of terrible. They’ve accepted orders via Foodhub and then after 40 mins cancelled AND Foodhub take the payment and then you have to go through the hassle of claiming off Foodhub and waiting days for the refund. Or they leave orders pending on the app and don’t respond. If the owners read this review, here’s a tip: TURN OFF YOUR ORDER SYSTEM IF YOU DON’T INTEND TO ACCEPT ORDERS. They NEVER answer the phone. Sometimes it diverts to a mobile and after more ringing ‘this number is not accepting calls.’ It’s clear The Raj DON’T want your custom. So don’t waste your time trying to order. A real shame, 10/10 for food. 0/10 for service.

Food is tasty and exactly what you are looking for in regards to a BIR. The quality of meat can vary from good to lower quality. The atmosphere in the restaurant is a bit none descript and I've found that the portion size in the restaurant compared to a home delivery is quite a bit different. So much so that I would avoid eating in. Service is good in the restaurant, however the delivery drivers always seem miserable.

Always enjoy a takeaway from here, great food and friendly staff. Biriyani is amazing, and pretty good value for money.

Not the best delivery I’ve had from the raj, chicken tikka tasted more like a korma with tikka spices added to it it even had the coconut taste that a korma has it definitely wasn’t the same as I’ve had before, the bread nann and chipatti tasted stale and went hard very quickly, the mixed starter was the better of the whole thing apart from the lamb in it which I couldn’t even cut

Terrible experience. I have been ordering from the Raj for the last five years and have seen management change in that time. The last two times I’ve ordered it’s been awful, the last time we said we would give it benefit of the doubt but tonight was the final straw and I won’t order again. Chips, cold, bhuna, cold, chicken pakoras bland, poppadoms soggy, rice cold. The food was also nearly an hour late and was missing some of the items. We didn’t even bother ringing to report it. It’s a shame because takeaways aren’t cheap these days so to spend £25 and throw half the food in the bin is not good. Will be trying elsewhere in the future.

Appalling food, spoke to manager young lad but he was giving to much attitude so I told him to speak to me when he's not on his time of the month, I ordered a chicken buna but got a fish buna all my food smelt of fish now I have had to get my clothes dry cleaned because the fish smell is stuck inside my clothes.

Possibly microwaved as they where dried out. •Chicken Tika Jalfrezi average not spicy. •Pilau Rice florescent yellow not for me. •Nan, I asked in the comments box when ordering for a thin Nan. I recieved the smallest Nan I have ever had also thick not what I asked for. Sorry guys I feel let down on this one. I did expect better. Shame as just moved to the area.

Always had a great meal from here. Don't know if it's changed management but the take away meal was awful. The onion bhajis were overcooked and so hard. Hardly any meat in the chicken curry. and the meat was squishy. Not good enough

Absolutely shocking. Tried to ring for an order, whoever answered the phone needs lessons in manners. So rude. Same when I picked up the order. Arguing I hadn't paid. Which I had luckily I had email to prove it. Food wasn't brilliant Will not be going back. I'm not paying good money to be spoken to like a piece of dirt

Called for dinner on our way to fleetwood The food was excellent and the staff were great Prices were good and because it was our first visit the drinks were on the house which was a lovely surprise Can’t wait to return

Recently had new management who have improved the look of the restaurant. The food was of good quality but portions could be a little bigger. It was great to chat with other customers and Jay, the owner, a very friendly atmosphere. We had a lovely evening.

Wish they would put cheese on the cheese naan. It’s not seen cheese in its life. Everything else is great and the customer service is of a high standard.

Just ordered and omg one of the best curries we have had in a long time. King prawn tandoori massive prawns the nann garlicky vindaloo not bitter like a lot of places you could taste the spices. Honestly i am a very very fussy eater so this a big up from me. Recommended thank you don't let the standard slip

Worst customer service I have ever received, manager/owner has serious attitude

Called in to get a takeaway at 21:40 last night and was told that they closed at 22:00 so I would not be served. They should obviously advertise that last orders is at a certain time rather than stating they close at 23:00 on the website. Really disappointed that we drove there to be let down.

Just had a takeaway delivered, faultless! My wife and I have just finished a superb meal , efficiently delivered from the Raj at Warton . Had chicken tikka as a main course , can’t remember when we last had such a tasty tikka, the rest of the meal was excellent as well.

We ordered 4 takeaway curries with all the extras costing almost £60 for our sons 16th birthday, waited over 1 hour for food to be delivered, when arrived 2 curries were missing, called to report, initially told they would be back shortly, we were then telephoned by the raj to check we definitely hadn't received them, had to wait then a further 35 mins for the 2 curries to be delivered so all our other food was cold, and ruined, will not be returning, very disappointed and annoyed at being accused of lying.

Been here a few times food very good, price very good, but the waiter needs to learn customer skills ie when to change cutlery after courses, how to place plates on the table, and most of all acknowledge when they have received a tip!

Feel gutted i wasted £30 on a load of bland sublime food. And you missed an item off our order! Wouldn't recommend and will go elsewhere in the future

Unplanned visit but made very welcome. Chicken Passanda, chicken tikka naga, tandoori KP, Bombay aloo, excellent Peshwari Nan & popadoms & pickles! The food was very good and the ‘hot spicy sauce ‘ that came with the usual pickles was excellent. With a few Cobras & cokes £67 received some complimentary Shots too 🤗

I went to this place on Sunday the 19th of February with my family and the food was absolutely appalling I could smell weed coming through the kitchen also I was sitting down trying to eat my meal I seen a large rat coming from underneath the kitchen when this happend the staff didn’t know what to do they got hold of a brush to try hit it out of the door so we refused to pay for our meal but they told us if we didn’t pay then they would call the police I wouldn’t recommend anybody to use this restaurant the staff and the service & food was appalling I’m also shocked that trading standards hasn’t been involved as of yet!

The food was abhorrent. The next day I felt disgusting pains in my stomach...and I wont go into detail of what happened in my bathroom. It was genuinely horrific, the atmosphere was not safe, I felt constantly threatened and not at ease at all. I only stayed and finished my meal because of the terribly high prices for the poor quality of food. The carpark was disgusting and i was at fear of my tires being slashed due to how dirty and messy the car park was, not to mention the low quality fencing back there. As a certified food critic and reviewer, I cannot recommend this place at all and I would not advise you to take your family here. - Jhom aznihaj

Booked a table on Saturday evening - having heard good things since the refurb and new management. And it did not disappoint!! Everything was excellent, service, quality, price. Will definitely be returning. Think this will now be our regular place to go. Thank you for a very nice evening.

Visited the Raj after hearing that it was under new management. Layout of the restaurant has significantly improved. Warm welcome and very attentive service throughout. Ordered a starter and main, all very tasty and well cooked. Naan bread was soft and light which is the first time in a long time I’ve had a naan break such as this. Would highly recommend- give it a try, you won’t be disappointed!

This is the very first time I decided to order from Raj in Warton. Some of the reviews I read were positive and as my daughter likes curry, I decided to order a meal for delivery. The total came to £22.80 for two curries with pilau rice and some chips - on this note, the chips price was £2.95 for a very small portion (certainly in comparison to some other local places we order regularly from. However, we decided to go ahead and ordered our meal at 18:15. For the record, the restaurant is 10 minutes driving or 25 minutes walking. The delivery time was set for approximately 45-60 minutes and we patiently waited until 19:30 before I rang the restaurant. The guy who answered, seemed surprised the food had no arrived ( he wasn’t the only one) but in the most resilient approach, I told him that I would wait a bit longer on his reassurance that the driver was on his way (usually meaning that my order was forgotten and they would now rush to prepare it and bring it over). After a further 20 minutes, a starving young kid, tired after a whole week of schooling, I decided to ring and question where was the driver - more importantly our food. This time I was more assertive, mainly in response to the unmannered approach of the person on the phone. This time, the response to my questioning to the whereabouts of the driver was greeted with the excuse that they don’t only deliver to my location. I have to say that their site indicates a small radius for delivery and therefore it is quite unlikely that their statement warrant to be taken serious. Let’s face it, with the time they took I could have ordered an Uber delivery from the curry mile in Manchester and likely to beat their delivery time. In addition, it has to be said that when someone dealing with the public, is dismissive and is rude, inspires little incline to use their services again. The only thing I would say in favour of this establishment is that food was good and really warm - I guess that reflects that was delivered from cooking to us rather quickly, or the driver was cooking the food on the way. In summary, food is good, customer service has a lot to desire and time of delivery is terrible. My final thought is that you have to decide whether food overrides the experience of ordering, and you have to decide whether you’d have to eat you front door frame whilst waiting for their food.

If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine, this is the place (under new management too). Fresh, delicious, good portions. We ordered saag paneer, mushroom rice, mushroom bhazi, chicken pakoras and cheese and garlic nan. Everything was lovely.

Price seems very good untill you taste food could get a better curry meal from your local CO-OP don't waste your time or money.

Food is absolutely disgusting here, hair in the food that looked like beard hair. Staff extremely rude when I brought this up to them and just took the food away didn't replace it and still charged for it. Walked round to the back to get back into my car and the outside of the restraunt and it is filthy not looked after all one of the back doors were open and all food was stored on a dirty floor which was extremely off-putting. Wouldn't go here if I got paid to

Restraunt is not looked after and not clean, roof is leaking above the restraunt and not long of falling through. Food is not great and wouldn't recommend it at all. There are better places in kirkham, which isn't too far away. All I'm waiting for now is the rats to arrive

Also, the food was okay, but it was nothing special,. The chicken itself was dry on the tandoori mixed grill and the shish kebab was tough to chew. The chicken exotica was okay also, the taste was nice, but there were only 2 small prawns in the curry which was disappointing. We had keema naan breads with our order as well, again it tasted okay but there was little to no meat in the naans themselves. We did have poppadoms which were nice however, and despite the manager refusing meerkat meals, he was pleasant with us through the duration of our meal. Overall, the meal itself was 5/10.

I thought this meal couldn’t get any worse upon arrival when staff started to put tables together for an advanced online booking. Phone ahead if you plan on visiting. The online machine does not work. One of the many faulty aspects of the restaurant.We stupidly waited over two hours for our starters to arrive. Staff were rude and unapologetic. My partner was then greeted with a glorified chicken wing and side salad as a mixed kebab. My father in law was gobsmacked when given two mini samosas. One for each hour he had waited. Possibly half an hour later at this point we had stopped clock watching and waited for our main course to arrive. We were then informed we had ordered too many garlic naan. You will have to have some potatoes. Imagine waiting over two and half and half hours to be informed you can’t actually have what you ordered. The potatoes arrived dripping in oil.We opted against the coffee which is a good job as we didn’t get offered anyway. Thankfully we just wanted to leave.The bill then arrived and the manager couldn’t understand why we had some complaints. He refused the discount card (Tastecard) as apparently he did his own offer. Avoid at all costs. This was for a birthday meal. The meal took so long we unfortunately didn’t have time to bring out the birthday cake.

Mr Raj is a character. Boneless fish curry was superb . Tadoori chicken cooked to perfection with a old style Madras sauce. A great selection of bottled beers. A great Dining experience. Value for money.

Went there and and had the set meal with a couple of additional bits. The food was alright nothing to shout out about and the service was a little slow. The place looks clean and the staff were helpful but like I said the service wasn’t the best. Look at my pictures and see what you think as an India it was average and would I go there again the jury is out.

We tried here on recommendation from a friend ,we got 3 different curries and they was all horrible ,tasteless and bland flavours we spent £33 what a waste as it was for a special occasion for me and my partner as we have been together for 20 years very disappointed and will not be going back again .

The restaurant is like going back in time .It’s authentic honest cooked Indian food served at its best & very reasonably priced .Give the Tandoori chicken a try it’s a superb dish served with home made tandoori sauce .Farouk is a great waiter he really looks after you & ensures you have a nice evening.The Raj serve cobra by the large bottle so your guaranteed a good beer with your curry .Having eaten here for many years I have never had a bad experience.Thank you for a nice evening.
