Won a free Sunday roast for 2 at Party in the Ponds - NOT honoured. We had prebooked a table for 2pm Sunday 25th August when we arrived and produced our voucher the refused to honour it. So embarrassing. Asked us to sit and wait while they ‘investigated’ it. We were certainly NOT welcomed we waited at least 15 minutes while they just served other customers. I asked at least could we have the bottle of wine promised on the voucher which they gave me. So we left without the complementary Sunday roast each. Very upsetting experience rude & unhelpful staff. Avoid.

Always enjoy the railway worked there years ago when we had the first disc in the alley.

Really lovely Sunday roast. The veggie option was great too. Great variety of veg to go with the superb pork and beef. Good value too.

I recently dined at The Railway Tavren for a casual evening out, and it was an unforgettable experience. The venue was intimate yet spacious enough to accommodate the energetic crowd, who were clearly there to have a great time. From the moment the lights dimmed and the band took the stage, the atmosphere was electric. Jayesh were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without being intrusive. Had a India dinner and starter, quality of food. **The taste of home... ** I would say the chef Jayesh cooking is exceptionally delicious 🤤🤤. One should visit and must try veg Samosa and onion Bhaji 😋😋😋 you can try other foods too.. Thanks Jayesh and The Railway Tavren..😊😊

Had a pint and a curry with the family on Father’s Day. Lots of food, so much we had a doggie bag. Was not expensive beer was good. I would recommend.

Visited Saturday evening and watched a band. Bar staff are good. Beer is reasonably priced. Large beer garden in the sun . We just thought it was weird and slightly disrespectful having a giant TV showing bar meals as the backdrop for the performers.

Lovely staff. Nice setting just off the main Fishponds Road. They can struggle with food delivery time to table and heat of the same, when busy.

Loved the idea of bringing indian dishes to a local pub. This pub Serving locally crafted beers with famous indian side dishes was a great catch. Loved the food, beer, vibe and everything. Definitely visiting again!

Lamb shank was inedible! Undercooked and tough as old boots, utterly disgraceful for the high price paid too. Never again!!

The staff at this establishment are incredibly warm and accommodating. I had the pleasure of savoring a refreshing pint of lager while being serenaded by delightful music. However, the cleanliness of the tables and chairs left much to be desired. The faint aroma of a less-than-pleasant cloth used to wipe down the table tops was noticeable. Nevertheless, during the summer months, this pub would be an ideal destination with its ample outdoor seating and lively music.

Amazing traditional pub great food and grade atmosphere worth the visit

Hidden gem of fishponds just off the high street, the food is delicious. Great curry, the wings were amazing. Fantastic value for money. Also tried the burger which was tasty. Its not often a kitchen gets two very different cuisines both done well. I'd highly recommend a visit. Come hungry!! Súper friendly staff as well :)

Amazing Indian cuisine and lovely atmosphere.

Been in here today to have a few drinks and watch the rugby (6 Nations). The beer was good, the staff were great but there were a few unsavoury people who were quite demanding of the status of the remote control! Was good though and my partner and I had a lovely time.

BEST ROAST DINNER EVER! I had beef and my partner had chicken. Honestly, I’ve had a lot of roast, but the flavour of this one was just outstanding. I rated it 9.5, only let down by the Yorkshire that wasn’t the freshest/crispiest, however I do understand that as it is hard to do Yorkshires in batch!! Don’t let that deter you!

Absolute hidden gem in fishpond’s, curry and rice with a pint for £10 . Absolutely cooked to perfection light rice wonderful curry, people sat next to us had a roast and said it was delicious, great staff great atmosphere… highly recommend

Just had one of their new chicken burgers, and I can't recommend enough!!! Delicious and just the right level if spice, if you haven't tried it, please do!!! It was so good that I forgot to take a picture so 5/5 🌟

Was there on Friday for their music nights, they were very busy - they had a band called free fall playing live - great energy. Tried the Ales,they tasted fresh, although staff were very busy they made sure they were friendly and were serving quickly.

We used to order the pie and mash from here if we wanted a treat as it used to be amazing - big portion, loads of mixed veg and tasted great. Haven't ordered for a while as it's not been available so were happy to see them back online and ordered pie and mash today - portion was much smaller, a handful of peas and the pie filling had the consistency of wet jelly cat food and it was cold. Not to mention the prices have gone up, £15 for a meal that was awful (and £4 for a side of onion rings, a whole 6 of them!). Incredibly disappointed as this was our favourite place on just eat, but will never be ordering from here again

Used to order here frequently, it didn't appear as an option for several weeks so I was happy to see it return, after this order I wish it hadn't. Food quality has markedly dropped while price has increased. Won't be ordering again which is a shame as it used to be excellent.

WARNING - We'd been ordering food from The Railway Tavern for many years as a healthy alternative to normal take away food. However, we'd ordered today though and wow, were we in for a bad surprise!... Although the driver was friendly, the food was terrible quality (as you'll see from reviews on Just eat), cold and the portions were absolutely tiny for the price, especially compared to what they used to be. IF YOU'RE A TYPE 1 DIABETIC LIKE ME, BE CAREFUL AND HAVE LESS INSULIN if you want to experience the shockingly poor new standards for yourself. We paid nearly 40 for two tiny amounts of mash, a rock hard pie with some kind of cold weird jelly beef filling and some peas, opposed to before - which would be a hell of a lot of mash, tasty and hot pies, lots of peas and green beans, broccoli and cauliflower. Honestly, we were shocked. They're scamming people who have no idea, as their rep used to be great. WE WILL NEVER ORDER FROM HERE AGAIN.

The draught drinks and food are like the clientele. Ok if you like that sort of thing . Tastes like the pipes have never been thoroughly cleaned.

The Railway Tavern is a genuine local pub, which is a bit of a rare thing nowadays, and offers three real ales on hand pumps, plus popular lagers, cider and Guinness etc. Darts is a popular game here, and there are two dart boards. There is now a pool table! Several televison screens around the pub show football and/or rugby, when it is on. The Bristol to Bath cycle way is only up the road, so getting here is easy, and cyclists are most welcome....well..everyone is most welcome actually! Anyway! I like this pub and it's mix of local (and not so local) people, and have spent many a happy hour (or more) here!

Food arrived cold. Chips over cooked and no drink delivered. Awful

The steak was terrible, the chips were sweaty and the £2 extra mushrooms and £2 extra sauce were not great. Plus the whole lot was wrapped in loads of plastic and thrown about in the bag. It was a mess. I'm disappointed. I won't be ordering from here again. If I wanted a chewy steak I'd have cooked it myself!

Really nice fish, chips and peas which had obviouly been freshley cooked and were still hot. best chips I have had in ages. Loved the "newspaper" inside the box too. Apple crumble was also good comfort food. Quick delivery too.

Paid £30 for the food not to show up and be told to take it up with just eat, no refund given or even acknowledgement of fault. Abysmal customer service, never ordering from them again.

The lasagne was almost devoid of any meat, tasted identical to a £1 microwave meal, except it was heavily laden with cheese on the top. Absolutely not worth anywhere near what they charge for it.

Amazing fresh food, I’ve just had my hip replaced last week and have no intention of cooking at the moment so I’m probably going to get a daily delivery from them, amazing roast chicken and lamb shank, yummy

Old school pub . Not a place if you want fancy decor, but is a place if you want chatty locals , great bar staff , live music on a friday and Saturday, darts and a 50p pool table . I personally loved the place

The food was beautiful. Choice of meat and vegetables was lovely. It was a little too expensive. Delivery was a nightmare ! Delivery driver picked up the meal from the tavern and half hour later rearly to apologise he was stuck in traffic. He assured us he would be 15 minutes as he was stuck in traffic. Total delving time was over 45 minutes after delivery driver left the restraunt. we live 1mile from the restraunt. As a result the good was cold. food fabulous so would order again. Delivery appalling so want use just eat to order again.

The food tasted ok but the mac and cheese smelled like minge

The food was cold the chips were undercooked the chicken burger was burnt to a crisp. The bun had broken up so was impossible to eat as a burger. The delivery driver however was lovely.

Very average food. £3 for two small slices of cheese garlic bread? Common! Chips were soggy, no sauces, burgers was alright - more bread than actual burger or salad or sauce. Won't be ordering again.

Roast was awful, potatoes was hard, the greens was peas and runner beans and it was like a whole box of that. My steak was nearly well done, I asked for rare. The gravy was watery, cauliflower cheese was cheese and cauli cause it just fell off. It was absolutely tasteless. Really not happy and spent 35 pound. Threw it In the bin. Shockingly bad, change your chef. Want my money back.

Visited this pub and received a good service from the staff and they had a band and some one play g records which created a hood atmosphere

Food was cancelled due to being still on route 2 hours after it was ordered. Called the restaurant got fobbed off twice in the end I cancelled. As a foot note I have ordered from here before and it was excellent.

Food was late as the restaurant was having a busy evening, not a problem in itself but the food was quite cold when it arrived. The portion was definitely big but the burger was just OK. Chips were nice once reheated in the oven. Very surprised that the food was in non-recyclable styrofoam containers.

Come on,what can l tell you?......well,a lot actually.lf you want a drink go to a pub,but if you want a drink and listen to some great local music ,played live then this is a choice destination,friendly if that's your thing,good service and l am told,really good food choices and just the right side of quirky as to not offend.l like it and in my humblest opinion,so will you.Must give a shout out for the band,waited a longtime to see them again,Covid and cancer curtailing my actions and mobility somewhat.Now we all cry freedom so off l toddled to listen to Snatch It Back,trio,brilliant musicians,pleseant to speak to,made the night for me.Book them again( Pub)see them anytime you can ( Pub goers).So in conclusion give the Railway and the band your serious consideration.

Honestly wasn't expecting it to be this good! The portions were huge, tasted amazing and was still piping hot when it arrived. By far the best food we've had as a takeaway and will definitely be using them again!
