Best cafe in Bristol City Centre. Has an atmosphere all of its own and I love the retro advertising plates.

I love this place for a quick bit of lunch or something when I’m in centre. The pizza slices are my go to they’re so good, though they also do lovely paninis and the smoothies are great, defo recommend to a lot of people!!

One item missing. Still waiting a refund of nearly £10 for the item. Spent more time chasing this now than it was worth.

I spent £9.70 on an omelette and an Americano, as seen in the attached picture. The omelette was not up to standard, as I found bits of egg shell in it. This was off-putting. The Americano was nothing to shout about. While it was early on a Sunday morning - a warmer, friendlier attitude from the person at the counter would have made a more positive impression. The meal was definitely not worth the £9.70. Avoid this place.

Nos encanta este café y venimos aquí con regularidad, pero estaba tan decepcionado hoy. Pedí una vegeburger. Estos, por definición, están hechos con proteína de soja y están hechos para parecerse a una hamburguesa real. Los que tienes hoy en día son brillantes. Esto NO era una vegeburger. Era una especie de puré de patatas que se había formado en forma de círculo y se desintegró en papilla cuando mordisqueaste. Me acobardé de quejarme y me lo comí como si estuviera muriendo de hambre, pero usted ha perdido un cliente leal - para añadir insulto a la lesión que habían decantado algún tipo de ketchup barato en las botellas de Heinz!

Outside it looks like a typical 'greasy spoon' but it's fab inside! Every wall is covered with vintage enamel signs and interesting antique stuff. We didn't eat but the hot chocolates were really good.

Always good quality but prices are now becoming as high as other cafes

Estaba feliz de haber encontrado eventualmente un lugar que sirvió Jacket Potatoes, a un precio razonable, Pedí, me senté gratamente sorprendido de que la comida era bastante rápida y metida en. Triste decir que el joven que me había servido en la caja, que también estaba haciendo bebidas, entonces totalmente por consiguió mi bebida solo trayendo a mí cuando había terminado de comer. Decepcionado porque no tuve tiempo de beberlo correctamente como debía hacerlo en el trabajo, se había olvidado claramente por la mirada en su cara cuando me vio mirando. Es triste decir que el mal servicio al cliente significará que no volveré.

Nice cosy cafe with lots of options and a good alternative to big chains! Got a coffee and a panini, regular coffee is a good size. The panini was good, not the best I've ever had but far from the worst! Panini menu is a bit tricky to read though as it's behind a counter

I asked guy i like chicken panini with onion inside of fresh tomatoes, after 5 minutes he bring it on table omg chicken stink and no test i don’t think even put cheese and i asked him onion but they didn’t, i didn’t touch only i said i want u try urself if or not but i see they didn’t care about my reaction cause they get money and they work not them business, they don’t care about people

Todo bien, pero el pan tostado era especial. El servicio fue rápido y eficiente, y el entorno es único. Volveremos.

Love this place, quirky in decoration but stunning at the same time. Great service and quality food everytime a hidden gem

Gorgeous little cafe right next to SWX where we were attending a gig and a welcome escape from the terrible rain. We had a drink and a bite and have to say, everything was really great....the staff were lovely, prices very reasonable, ambience quirky and warm and the food just perfect. Thanks very much for a great experience, we would absolutely come againif we are in Bristol.

Good prices, serving breakfast until late.

I used to come here every day for my lunch. I seldom visit Bristol now. I had a sandwich with a bag of crisps and a cup of tea, which was very expensive! Then I'm still eating my lunch and waiter starts to clear away my plate, with crisps on it still. This is extremely rude and I won't be back! This place has gone right down hill.

Chicken burger was just a economy round burger but the others good was nice

Not a single staff smiling or polite to customers. It’s like being forced to work there. Gents toilet not cleaned either. It used to be a nice place for coffe & panini.

I’ve been coming here for years. Used to be packed at lunchtimes. Walked in at 13:15 on a Thursday and there was nobody in the queue at all. Tables were pretty much empty. Ordered food which used to come to about £12 and found that it’s now almost £17. Once it arrived, the food was dry and tasteless. Very poor indeed! Now I see what the place was empty. Such a shame… Won’t be back…

Had the usual experience from Cafe Amore. Ordered coffee and a jacket potato. The coffee was fresh, hot, and delicious. The jacket potato cooked to perfection with generous toppings. Always a pleasure to come here and look forward to my next visit.

Spent £30 on 2 breakfast from here but they got my order wrong and added beans. They brought back a new breakfast which was just the old one with bean juice wiped off so everything still tasted of beans and I couldn’t eat most of it! Expect more for the prices! Nice milkshake though. Just don’t get food.

Went in today for a sandwich and a coffee. I had a chicken and Avacado sandwich and a latte. Best sandwich I've had out in a long while. Full of filling, lovely soft fresh bread. The latte was also very nice. I'll definately be back.

Took my son for breakfast he enjoyed it I got the big breakfast and his hot chocolate with marshmallows.. I got the big breakfast and was a bit disappointed the beans were cold and the eggs were poor quality it also stated it came with kale and mushrooms which was so small it shouldn’t have been mentioned on the menu.

Huelga decir que ‘Cajun’ es probablemente un tramo... Así que este es el fin de las patatas de chaqueta fría y el café quemado. Tuvimos algunos buenos momentos - sobre todo en los 00 ́s cuando se podía fumar aquí - pero los buenos tiempos han terminado. Hay demasiados buenos lugares en Bristol para comer en Bristol donde las patatas están calientes y también es la bienvenida.

Coffee was fine, ‘French toast’ was 2 slices of white bread with the crust cut off. Bland in taste and expensive. Avoid this menu option.

La patata estaba fría y la mantequilla no se derritió en la chaqueta de patata. . Pero la lasaña estaba buena y sabrosa. El servicio no fue tan bueno como se esperaba. Supongo que encontraremos otro lugar para comer la próxima vez.

Me and some friends got an english breakfast from here. Never again. Stay away . Seems like everything is brought straight out the freezer. Poor decor , small tables, and far too hot upstairs. Tough to say what's good about Cafe Amore, or shall I say Cafe Poor.

I've had the best coffee ever at this place OMG I didn't know coffee could be so good, truly amazed 😍. Also the food and sandwiches they had were looking very good. I went for tuna + salad one. You can tell they do everything with love ❤️

Jacket Potato with salad, cheese, beans and a can of coke. Absolute bargain, best of all they only took five minutes to make it and it arrived on my table. Absolute bargain. Cost me £8.00 Plus the only place that seems to sell a jacket potato:) 😂

The food was lovely, friendly staff, allowed my grandson to have his own food which was a nice gesture.

Love Café Amore. It's my favourite place to meet a friend in town. Great breakfasts, and an excellent range of sandwiches. Good coffee and friendly, efficient service.

Food still good. Service lacking and not as good at the till as before. Can drinks, not offered glass with ice. No friendly smile or greeting at the till either. Respect they person may have been tired but if you are serving at the till then you are the face of the business and need to appear more enthusiastic.

i had an amazing time here with my best friend. the ambiance is splendid. the boss was sooo handsome, my friend and appreciated him. everyone was so polite and treated us well. amazing place woulf 100% recommend!!

Review redone, and updated.... March 2022 Ok, my previous review was purely on coffee, and service, well now I've had some food. Sandwiches, pudding pots, pastries, toastie. I cannot say a bad word against any of it. Amazing value, great tasting, and really good portions. Everything you can tell is made with fresh ingredients, and made that day (or very early mornings) and made with good ingredients. You walk into this lovely place, and it has some old school charm about it, like it's got history. You walk past a row of fridges containing all the fresh food, and nothing is over-packaged. On the other side as you walk in, is like a mini kitchen doing some stuff fresh to order. If you have chosen something from the fridges, you take it to the till, and order your drink at the same time. We almost always order a flat white. A lovely drink, and really quite strong... Just the way I like it. If you're sitting in, you'll be given a number tab, and it'll be brought to you. The staff are very help, friendly and chatty. Value wise, this place is amazing value, and easily matches any of the coffee houses, in fact they're cheaper. In those international companies, you feel sometimes as of you're making an investment, rather than buying coffee and a sandwich. Here it's different, the prices are so competitive, even with supermarkets, but better and fresher. If you're passing, or in broadmead and fancy a nice coffee, and perhaps a lunch, I cannot recommend this place more. It's a 2 minute walk across the road (at the lights) by Tesco. There's a good lot of indoor seating, and a reasonable amount of outside seats. Enjoy. UPDATE 02/05/2024 JUST HAD A LARGE BREAKFAST, NEVER BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED. seriously. First try got sent back as COLD. second attempt, bacon and sausage and the eggs, barely cooked. Eggs even borderline snotty. Seriously at almost £14 for a coffee and breakfast, I expect a lot better. Couldn't have mushrooms as someone premixes them with kale (I mean who does that) , and as I didn't want limp cabbage on my plate, I couldn't have mushrooms. I know a fry up is a fun dish, as there are so many timings, but in over 40 years of cooking food, both at home and professionally, I've never served a borderline breakfast, not a cold one. Maybe the chef is more pssd off and depressed than I am, I don't know, but I expected better from here, and then add the price to it, and that's a slap on the face. I thought I'd try it to cheer myself up as my fiancee died very recently, but now I'm more depressed than before. Sandwiches, bacon n egg muffin, great, along with potted desserts, but a fry up, is obvs beyond someone's ability today. No pics, as didn't want to scare you.

Lovely cosy ambient and tasteful decor. Food was such a surprise because it was so cheap for the quality,taste and presentation. Had a huge toasted panini and the cappuccino was big and very hot. Food came really fast and staff were all pleasant and helpful.

The location and atmosphere is great, but let down by the food. We visited for breakfast and the mushrooms were tinned, salty and cold, plates cold, no butter with the toast, not a lot of flavor with the coffee. On the up side, eggs we're nicely done, hash browns crispy, bacon ok and sausages ok. Prices were ok too. Code needed for loos, which was apparently on the receipt, but we hadn't been given a receipt. Wouldn't have needed much to make it a great experience.

I've been going to Cafe Amore for a good 15 years and have been a long standing.fan of their big portions, good prices and fresh food. BUT the portion sizes have become diabolical. Compared to what they used to be you're getting a quarter size of the jacket potato and filling now. The sandwiches are less filled and less value for money, even the panini's fillings have disappeared. It's a shame, as it no longer represents good value for money, instead it's the same offerings as other local cafes around town. I understand times are changing and they have new owners, but then raise the prices, don't skimp on the quality and quantity- when it comes to the food.

Nice local coffee shop, we only had drinks which were great, food being served looked really nice but we didn't get to go back like we planned. Next time...

I went there with my husband. He ordered full breakfast and I tried to order scrambled eggs on toast but they didn't have this option. Servers are lovely but food tasted like heated in microwave. Also place and tables are very claustrophobic.

I can't comment on the food, as I've never eaten here however, I am a vegan and I always order a large oatmilk cappuccino for £3.90, this thing is like a bowl of coffee, it's amazing. Staff have always been lovely, even when they're closing down for the day, they've never given me dairy milk- something that usually happens at least once when I visit a place frequently. I can sit outside in the covered area and have myself a bowl of coffee and a cigarette, love this place.

I enjoyed the quirky space. Bagels had sold out I had an avocado stack instead which I thought was expensive and nothing special.

Unfortunately we stopped in here for breakfast. Servers very friendly and kinder bueno milkshake lovely. However my bacon was soft and the eggs were a runny congealed mess on a muffin which saw the pan for a flash fry. My daughter ate a small bit of her simple omelette and feels unwell now we are back to our hotel room. No photos but when I asked the male server if he would eat it, he replied he eats it loads. The servers came back to me when they returned the dish to the kitchen and asked if I wanted something else. I now have to mind sick teenager and hope she is well enough later to attend the concert we came here for.

I have been going to Cafe Amore for many years and it has become a regular breakfast or brunch spot for us. They have recently started making hot cooked breakfasts and, since I like the paninis, sandwiches, etc, I gave the Avocado stack a go. Unfortunately, I think the price is not reflective of what is offered. One single slice of white bread, with 4 tiny cubes of feta, 4 cherry tomatoes (cold), a little bit of raw red onion and two poached eggs. I believe they are basing their price on competitors and that's fair, but for the price (about £11) you often get two slices of sourdough, and a bit of a better portion. I do love the place and will be coming back, as their coffee is ok and so are the hot/cold sandwiches, but i think the cooked breakfasts need some work. ☺️

Great place with good atmosphere and the staff we’re nice but our food came cold , the mushrooms were actually stone cold, like they were cooked yesterday and taken out of the fridge and they forgot to microwave them , they did replace the mushrooms but everything else was cold as well. I ate all of mine as I don’t mind cold food but my wife couldn’t eat hers at all. Would give it another try and hopefully this was a one off

After instructions to the driver as he couldn't find the delivery address he still struggled to find it even though there as never been an issue with any of my deliveries

Paid £10 for the "big breakfast" two small eggs that had to go back to finish cooking the white, tiny pot of beans, decent sausages but bacon was really soft and fatty and came with a few bland mushrooms and two tiny cherry tomatoes. Definitely not a £10 breakfast or even a fiver.

I went here a few weeks ago and I put heinz tomato ketchup on my food I buy the color of it I knew it was no heinz I thought I was heinz only to find out it is not heinz, but the ketchup is in a heinz bottle, i then went to the counter and asked for ketchup they offered me another bottle of heinz I smelt it and knew it was not heinz, I was then offered sachets of cheap ketchup this ruined my experience and food. as i haf already put it on my food. I went there today 3rd November 2023 and looked at the heinz bottle they are still displaying on the tables. still not heinz so I did bot even bother putting any ketchup on my food, the food has also gone down hill in my lasagne there was barely any meat or barely any sauce it looked good before diving in but that was jus the cheese on top, it may aswell be called layers of pasta with bits of mince can barely call it a lasagne. this use to be a really good place to eat but I'm shocked. I will also be forwarding to heinz the fact these guys are promoting heinz bottles with cheap ketchup I don't think they will be to happy about this. I grew up on heinz I can always tell.

I used to love this place and it is with a heavy heart that I leave a not so great review. I have been a couple of times recently and left unimpressed so I thought I would give it one last chance as it had served me so well previously. Price of a sandwich has gone up, but I give it the benefit of the doubt. It was OK, but not worth the price tag. I make better at home. Seemed smaller than they used to be too. Queued up which wasn't too bad. Then the guy who served me was more interested in talking to someone else. No hello, or that's £3.50 please. I paid and that was it, no bag offered, no thanks nothing. So that's it from me. I am done.

Stopped in for a morning after the night before breakfast, stumbled on Cafe A more and had a toasted sausage and egg sandwich and a coffee, only mild complaint was the toast could have been more... Toasty... But it was delicious and disappeared quickly enough. Staff were polite and gave us a heads up there was a 20 minute wait but lovely atmosphere and thoroughly enjoyed breakfast.

The breakfast was sadly inedible everything was deep fried the sausage was a cheap frozen deep fried the egg was undercooked, the mushrooms belong with a steak with the seasoning they've used and my portion of tomatoes consisted of two cherry tomatoes and the bacon was the saltiest thing I have eaten. The toast and bottled orange juice were nice. Service very slow had to ask for my breakfast after 25 minutes

Utterly delicious food. We had the Avocado and Amore stacks for breakfast which were amazing. A real gem with bags of character and great service. Will definitely eat there again next time we're in Bristol.

Used to be an absolutely great place. I assume the ownership may have changed in recent years but sandwiches are smaller and less filling, same for panini’s. They also used to have what appeared to be home made flap jacks, tiffins and brownies but they’re missing nowadays. Staff are pleasant but service is very slow. Lunchtimes used to be so efficient and fast to take food away but now it’s inexperienced and cumbersome. The queue today was almost by the door! Please just have someone serving constantly on takeaway and let other staff make coffees and give out ordered food to diners

Stopped here for breakfast, the breakfast took so long to come I ended up missing my flight! We asked serval times about how long the food was going to be and the girl said “I literally have no clue” It took 40 minutes for the breakfast to come, we ended up having to get it to takeaway. The toast was still bread, hash browns not cooked properly, probably the worst sausage I’ve ever had. Seriously need to think about hiring another chef or finding a quicker one! Absolute joke! I would never recommend anyone eats here! Worst breakfast I’ve ever had

Poor service, waited in the queue for 5 minutes, no one else waiting. Woman and man making drinks clocked us, but no ‘I will be with you in a minute’ or welcome ‘I’ll just do this’ this is why independent cafes are failing, no customer service. Atmosphere and decor, early 80s and not from the bad part of the late 80s. Wouldn’t visit again.

I wish I could rate it higher. Similar to other reviews, the food was great. However, the service was atrocious. This isn't something I've ever really experienced in professional establishments and was pretty shocked it was even happening. They tried to fleece me! I ordered a big breakfast and then asked to see the ice cream menu. I said I'll think about it and order after my meal, but the woman behind the counter had already started pouring one for me. She then said "I've already started pouring it so now you need to order it". I was shocked tbh. Even if I had asked for one (which I didn't), I didn't even say which flavour I would've wanted - she just started pouring a random one out and wanted me to pay for it. I was genuinely disappointed because I was really looking forward to this place after reading other reviews. I won't be coming again. * Edit * The owner kindly apologised and recognised this as a misunderstanding in the reply to this review. I didn't like how the person who poured the ice-cream offered the ice-cream to other customers in a passive aggressive manor, however, I understand things can be lost in translation.
