We recently had dinner with friends here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. There was an extensive menu of home cooked foods at reasonable prices. All four of us were very pleased with the food that we had.

I went with my mother for lunch and really enjoyed it. It was Sunday but they had an extensive menu. I had Vegetable Lasagna with chips and salad. It was absolutely delicious. My mother really enjoyed her Sea Bass Risotto. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Will definitely go back.

We were staying at Eddington Hall just a couple of miles away and found the Railway Inn online. We went on a Monday night so it was quiet but more customers did arrive as the evening went on. We had a main and dessert, burger and steak n ale pie as mains with treacle sponge and crumble for desserts. I have to be fair the food was lovely, well cooked and really tasty. No fuss, just good homely comfort food. They probably will dishwasher my plates but there was no need as I almost licked them clean lol Also really helpful giving us the perfect table, thank you for that 😊👍 Becky working behind the bar was also very friendly and polite, really good service all round and a very enjoyable evening. I would definitely go to the railway inn again but I live 120 miles away so probably won't!!!

We had a table booked as it was my wife's Birthday Meal. There were 16 or us in total. We cannot praise the staff enough as the meal was perfect in every way. We could not fault the meal, nor the staff. We will certainly visit The Railway Inn again in the future.

This was our first visit to the Railway Inn and we all thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The menu was varied and the prices were great. We all really enjoyed our food. My granddaughter thought her lasagna was the best she'd ever had and Ben also thought his steak and ale pie was the tastiest he'd had in a very long time and it was packed with tender beef. We were even served with an extra bowl of veg and lovely crispy chips for the table. Our only criticism would be that the beef bourguignon did not have enough meat in it. My granddaughter wolfed down the tasty apple pie and custard. We will definitely be back.

We were made welcome by Alice and stayed two nights also having an evening meal. It was very hot weather and we did find it hard to sleep. Maybe a fan would have helped. The food is good and good value and we enjoyed breakfast. We might have liked a later time but understood how busy the staff were on this occasion.

I stayed here when walking the Offa’s Dyke Path. It’s 2km off the trail, but it was well worth the extra couple of kms. Dinner was good, breakfast was excellent, and (for a small fee) they provided me with a packed lunch. Special mention for Rebecca who was a really attentive and professional bar person/waitress. Would definitely stay here again.

We went here for the first time for lunch on my husband's birthday. It is very clean and there is a good choice of food for a reasonable price. I had the steak and ale pie with mash, gravy and vegetables and it tasted good. My husband had the vegetarian risotto and chips. We are not vegetarians but some times eat vegetarian food whilst out and there is a good choice. The service was good and the manager was friendly. The food came out quickly. We may come back here with our children as there is a children's menu and the manager seemed flexible about children's food.

Visited this place on a few occasions now for evening meal. Each time the restaurant has been very quiet or even empty but people don't know what they're missing! The pub was warm and inviting, very clean and the welcome was warm. The beer was good and on every occasion the meals have been excellent. The homemade steak pie is a particular favourite, as is the liver and onions. The young waitress is very smartly dressed, efficient and friendly and also wears a visor. Prices are reasonable. As the title suggests, just good honest food.

The food was absolutely delicious. I went for Spring Rolls to start followed by the Steak & Ale pie. Great home cooked food that tasted great. Prices very reasonable for the quality of food.

I drove my friend of 80 years of age back to Forden where he was born and grew up until the age of nine. He remembered almost all of it and especially this pub where his father and grandfather frequented over the years. It was a Sunday and we read that this establishment served Sunday Lunch. As we had two very small dogs with us we asked could we sit in the garden. The answer was “no we do not serve meals in the garden on a Sunday!” THERE WERE ONLY TWO OF US! One of us is 60 yrs and the other 80yrs!! They still refused! We were dressed appropriately and yet they refused. When the bar attendant asked the manager we were then told that they were fully booked! DISGUSTING BEHAVIOUR even after my friend had told his story to the attendant. PLEASE! PLEASE! PLEASE “STAY AWAY” from this awful and unaccommodating shabby place. He was heart broken as was I. Shame on this unfriendly and vile establishment!

Small portions on Sunday lunch but okay typical pub food. We had pudding which was also nice but had to grab a takeaway on way home, even the children (not huge appetites) were hungry leaving and it's not the cheapest. Also a double vodka and coke cost 4.90 on Saturday and 6.20 on Sunday not sure why but after a couple of drinks it adds up. Will not be returning.

Booked for ten people at short notice, on a bank holiday weekend, they were very accommodating and with great food, good portion size and excellent service. The beer is well kept and they work with smaller independent brewers which is good too.

My second stay here. You won't find a friendlier place to stay or eat. The Inn has 5 rooms, all well presented clean and comfortable. Being an old building, the rooms are smallish but still fine. No complaints from me at all. The bar or restaurant food is top class catering. Well done Alice!

We were very well served with a peaceful lunch in very pleasant atmosphere, this pub is a little out of the way to find, Forden is signposted on the Churchstoke road, to the right about 3miles from the south end of the Welshpool bypass, then about half a mile down the lane. The food served was all excellent, the steak pie was particularly flavoursome, and made on the premises. Nice pint of Worthington. If you want a quiet meal away from the traffic, this is it.

Called in for a light bite to eat, sandwich menu poor and very pricey !! £4.25 for just a cheese sandwich. We ordered two sandwiches and a tea and coffee. The drinks did not arrive after 15 minutes, enquired and waited yet another 5 mins. and it was stone cold !! Had to return and wait yet again for replacements. The sandwiches arrived later still and the bread was stale !!! £15.50 for two sandwiches and two drinks is a bit steep when the food is not good. The wait was awful as the place was not busy and how long does it take to make a tea/coffee and a couple of sandwiches ??? Will not revisit I am sorry as this was very poor for the prices they are charging, not a friendly place to visit, maybe trying to be something they are not, its a pub where you expect more choice for travellers who do not want a full meal at midday and also a little more in the way of customer relations, no other alternatives except expensive starters !!

As stated by others the refurbishment is fantastic I didn't recognise the place when I first went in, we have taken several visitors there and have also had a group (WI) Christmas dinner in January, they kept the tree and decorations up for us and the other January bookings, so it looked very festive, the food was very good and they managed to get us all served fairly quickly with all the food still hot, in a big group there is usually one that finds something to complain about but I didn't hear any complaints at all. The food is a bit more expensive that a regular pub but not as expensive as a restaurant . Staff very friendly and helpful, will go again.

My wife and I visited the Railway Inn two days ago for evening Dinner. We ate early (6.30pm) as the restaurant was fully booked.I remember the Inn in it's old state before it closed down. Since then the premises have undergone a major refit with a new bar and dinning room as well as 5 letting rooms. The menu is varied with a good choice of dishes. I had Beer Battered Cod and my Wife Plaice. The food was delicious and well cooked. However I got the impression that the Inn was trying too hard, by that I mean a little too formal. Perhaps instead of paper napkins linen would be better. My overall view was that with careful management this place will do well if they get the pricing right, at the moment the food is to expensive for what it is and whilst people will visit for the first time to check it out, I suspect that it will be sometime before they return.

My husband and I went out for dinner and decided to try The Railway Inn, we eat out several times a month and it is always good to find some where local. The place looked very nice as it has recently been done up. The menu looked good but my husband decided to pay for the drinks first, I had ordered a pint of soda and my husband a pint. I don't understand landlords these days the soda water was £2.40 that is such a ridiculous price ( all it is tap water with a bit of gas on ) any way we drank up and went on to eat . Due to the over zealous pricing they have lost two customers who would have used them on a regular basis. As we left the young man behind the bar didn't even say goodnight

Whilst I usually promote Deli-Licious as a good place to go if you have a Gluten Free (GF) diet, I was recently disappointed by their GF afternoon tea. I was pleased to hear they offered a GF afternoon tea but was left feeling let down by the poor selection and presentation. The normal afternoon tea was presented on either a picnic bench or a three tiered serving stand, mine was just put on a plate with no effort to make it look like everyone else’s in the group, making me feel like an outcast. At a cost of £16.95, it certainly wasn’t value for money.
