Warning to drivers - Reminder to everyone parking in the carpark put your car registration in the pub or face £100 fine (even if can prove had spent a period of time spending money in the pub). Have been coming for years but this was the last visit.

Popped in for a light bite lunch - 2 of us shared a chicken ceasar sandwich with small fries. Really really tasty. Service great, although this is a 'proper' hotel with rooms the bar and restaurant are set up like a gastro-pub. Couldn't fault it. We did stay here one night couple of years ago - and it the comments book was Noddy Houlder of Slade - who had recently stayed there - comment :- 'Keep on rocking'.

We've been here quite a few times for a drink and this time decided to have a meal. We only had mains, I had the fish and chips, the fish was extremely fresh and a lovely batter on it......and proper chips not frozen (yes). My wife went for the lamb shank, this came with mash and lashings of gravy, she was a very happy girl, must have been because I never got a sniff of a taste. Bit gutted we haven't been here before for food, it's reasonably priced and very tasty, we will be back soon.

Lovely little old pub that's been recently renovated. The real ale was well looked after (which so many aren't) and tasty. 50yds from Railway Station making it easily accessible. Try it you'll love it

Some Sundays you wake knowing a full English is the only way forward. The Railway provides this. Price is right, quantity plenty and flavour full. Still order one after 12:00, if you need a lie in.

We sauntered down around 6:15pm. Food's on noonish to 7pm ish. Weds - Sun. There's a lot of funeral "traffic" too! We had f,c & mps & 3 cheese & onion pie (with c & mps). The fish & pie was particularly appreciated. Fish nicely, crisply cooked. Pie was Cheddar, Lancs Crumbly & Red Leicester (from memory)...couldn't finish either platefuls! Good honest, wholesome nosh! With a few drinks, think the bill just about £30. 3 or 4 real beers on, number of lagers, good range of wine. Good little local village pub. Incl the bowling green across the road.

We've long said that we'd visit this place and today was the day. We weren't disappointed. A friendly welcome on entry, it was quiet but only just gone noon. We ordered a starter from the menu and two mains from the specials board. The starters came and were very good sized portions. Hot, tasty and served with a smile. The chef came out of the kitchen a little later to check all was well. We weren't rushed at any time and later our mains arrived. Pub grub from the specials board but very tasty. Our overall experience was a good one and we will return. Give The Railway a try, im sure you'll enjoy it, we certainly did. Well done and thanks to all concerned.

The railway is a cosy local pub serving classic pub grub. Nothing is served in small portions so make sure you are hungry if you plan on eating here. My husband really enjoyed the fish goujon baguette with proper chips which was very reasonably priced at £5.95. I had the lasagne delicious and again good vale at only £7.95. The vegetarian options are very limited cheese pie or veggie curry though the family sitting next to us said the veggie curry was really tasty. Dog friendly and walker friendly pub.

It was a KBA cooking spur of mo decision. 3 real beers, £3.10 a pint, shame no 5-7pm "Happy Time"... I think catering is Weds - Sunday till 9pm. Ring to check (479697). Pensioners deals some days 12-5pm(?) We had fish & chips & the gammon. Served up by the cook. Mega portions!!! We managed 3/4s of our plates full (to bursting). Well cooked, the tomato remarkably sweet! Bit rowdy round the bar, but a decent welcome. About 3-4 couples eating. Specials on board by door too. We'll return. Leaving around 6:45, the bowlers were "rolling" up!

Visited here with 20 people following s funeral at the nearby crematorium. It had been booked and a price agreed. There was enough staff to serve behind the bar, 2 or3 real ales on hand pump, and the beer was well looked after. When the buffet was brought out it was very good quality and more than enough for the number catered for. The chips were properly home made, the sandwiches etc were well presented and nicely filled. A nice selection of cheese was there and later a variety of gateaux were bright out. Overall it was excellent value and quality and I would recommend this place if you are looking for a post funeral venue or for any other type of gathering. It doesn't score 5 primarily because there is no beer garden which is a shame, but it doesn't spoil the place, it would just be a nice addition.

Have only been to the Railway for breakfast on the weekend so that's what this review covers. Less than usual in this area to find a place even open for breakfast so finding one that is good is a treat. Standard offerings - full English, etc. Nice omelet. Decent Bloody Marys!

A group of 4 called for Sunday lunch, the place was empty and unwelcoming, no landlord present just a young girl running the bar and the kitchen, we ordered our meals and the food arrived, nicely presented, but it was all frozen produce. we expected fresh food as the prices are so steep, and we were amazed to see how many dogs are allowed into the area where people are eating, we drank up and left ,

The Railway is a pub I've known and frequented. Sometimes a local and more recently as a stranger. Now I'm not sure where to put myself. Some of my closest friends call it their local. Why not, it has local written all over it and the new landlord and landlady are exactly what you want in a host, they just are find out for your self.A cold beef sandwich in the world of excellence is from a joint of beef that was cooked so well, that the rare slices the next day.............. well if you know you know,,,,And if you don't , visit the RailwayOh by the way the pickles nice

My boyfriend and I decided to visit the Railway since it was recently reopened. Rather than go in the week, we decided to wait until the weekend and go on a Saturday night when it would be a bit livelier. Or so we thought...We got there around 8.30pm and there were a few people there. But one by one customers started to leave and weren't replaced. It got to around 9.30pm and there were a total of 5 customers in the pub, including two of us. Rather than being private and cosy, the management decided to have Casualty blaring out on a tv in the corner, rather than having any music playing. This meant that rather than the relaxing night away we were hoping for, we were left trying to have a quiet conversation whilst Doris has having open heart surgery on the tv inches from our heads. Nobody else was talking, the atmosphere was horrifically painful. We lasted until 10pm and left two customers in the entire pub. This used to be a cracking pub and has so much potential. Get some tunes on in the evening, light the fires and create some form of atmosphere and I don't see any reason why it can't compete with the Butlers. But, whilst the current management are in place and liken the place to a morgue, The Railway will continue to suffer and will never recover.

We had a lovely lunch here on a sunny Saturday afternoon. The staff were friendly and welcoming and we sat outside to eat. The food was lovely, we had the Sticky Platter which was huge !!, containing melt in the mouth ribs, spicy chicken wings & pigs in blankets with really nice spiced wedges. My daughter had the Prawn Kebabs which were also really nice. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were backwards and forwards crossing the road to the seats outside, bringing food and condiments. The menu is good although not extensive and very reasonable but we had a hard time choosing as everything sounded nice. We will definitely visit again and we were told by another diner that the breakfasts at weekend, served from 9.30 am are brilliant.

Turned up just before 6pm today intending to have a drink on the side of the bowling green then go inside later for food before the steam train passed.NOT TO BE...having got from our car it was obvious that the only access to the green side was through a group of drunken, loud, half naked YOBS sprawling either side of the path, One of them even went to a convertable car nearby and proceded to play the radio/tape/cd at a ridiculous volume to make matter worse.ENOUGH was enough...we turned round and went back to the car in order to "escape" and seek some other establishment. Another couple appeared to be doing the same and they too drove off.As I drove off a girl came from the pub presumably to collect some of the many empties. Unfortunately she seemed to find the yobbish behaviour amusing.I know that the £45+ I later spent at the Butlers is but a drop in the ocean to the Railway...BUT how many others were similarly put off?Serving alcohol to drunks is not on but it WAS going on here today. Never again which is a shame especially in a quiet village like PleasingtonSimilar review last year..so as I say above...nothing changes.I cannot answer some of the questions below as we refused to stay or go inside !!!!

I was looking forward to trying the food as I had occasion to speak to the new landlord a few months ago who was describing his new venture and a menu that sounded appetising. It's a typical village pub and we visited at 6pm on a Tuesday evening. When we went in, there were about 8 men all sat either round or on tables close to the bar. I should have heard the warning bells when the room went quiet when we entered, a sure sign that the occupants were unaccustomed to 'strangers in town'.They were being quite noisy and boisterous but we ordered drinks and sat down. The menu to be fair did look good with some home made pies and a decent looking vegetarian selection for my partner. The noise continued with some play fighting - albeit fairly mild. They had obviously been drinking for some time and were behaving more like sailors on shore leave. Worryingly, a couple appeared to have custody of a toddler. The final straw came when one knocked his pint over on the floor. It felt more like a Friday night in a dodgy neighbourhood, not an environment conducive to eating a pleasant evening meal and the place wasn't big enough to avoid them. We moved outside and when the bar staff eventually came out to take our order we declined. the outside seating wasn't good quality, and the available seats (as some were taken) were a bit wobbly and we didn't fancy eating off them. I was discussing the visit today with a work colleague and her parting words were "let me know if it's worth a visit". Shot themselves in the foot rather.

Cheap cheerful. Full of alcoholics dreadful service when busy. Could do with more staff, nothing worse than waiting ages to be served. Nothings changed from the review above 9 years ago. The beer is ok. The service shocking. Sadly when things go wrong some staff just can't apologise to a valid complaint or criticism. They only refuse to serve you. Very immature behaviour in my opinion. Maybe they should concentrate on their service rather than turning paying customers away.

Thankyou to Lilly who tidied our table and served our food. Lovely girl.. there was 20 of my family including babies. She looked after us at every part of our meal... the food was good except the fish was a bit overcooked.. batter wasn't too good and no mushy peas 😕 apart from that great !!! thankyou Lilly ❤️

Actually ordered a takeaway from here last night for the first time. Thought the prices were a little high but as it's a restaurant first I expected that. Ordered 2 currys, 2 starters, nan bread and poppadoms. I never eat a full portion of curry so usually throw it away as I don't like left overs, however this was so good I ate the rest this evening. So tasty probably the best curry I've had in a very long time and the first time I have ever finished it the day after. Will be ordering again for sure.

The venue is quite visually pleasant inside. The service was average .The food was very nice but portions a little small, especially the deserts which were a touch expensive at £8. Not much else to report at this venue .The main question is would we have a return visit ? The answer is yes , its worthy of it
