Fantastic place and a wonderful atmosphere, very well recommended….

Disgusting. I came here with two of my fellow newborn dads. Apparently in this place you’re not allowed to excrete in the toilet. I had a number two, went outside for a vape afterwards and then was told I’m barred for taking drugs in the toilet. I’m a train driver, regularly tested for drugs and alcohol, so I do not partake in any substance use! Apparently if someone accuses you it’s company policy to just bar you from this place instantly. Will not be returning to this disgusting place where I feel discriminated.

The staff were lovely and welcoming, Tony and Frankie were very helpful and friendly. The drinks were fairly priced and they have a good selection of live music every weekend. Definitely a place to go for a drink and a meal!

Nice pub and hotel. Easy access for wheelchairs. Was also allowed in on my mobility scooter. Food was excellent.

Stop by for a quick bite and the service was so great by a young lad by the name of Connor that me and my girlfriend ended staying for quite a bit. This young man was so nice and friendly and made the time and atmosphere very very enjoyable. Would definitely recommend for ppl to stop in for a pint and ask for Connor.

Been to the railway a few times, and I always have a great time, especially when they have a live band in! Highly recommend the ultimate burger if you fancy a bite to eat, it always goes down a treat! Big shout out to both Tony and Frankie for the recommendation.

Had a couple meetings here last year. The team at the railway looked after us in the meeting room topping up coffee and refreshments when needed. The buffet lunch was hot and plentiful

Have had many meals in the railway have always found the food to be excellent and and staff to be incredibly welcoming. Hard to find a good pub any more and now we have would go anywhere else

Quick update. Just spoke to the helpful Matt and we discussed what happened. We've come to a solution which we are happy with. In future, I will ask to speak to a manager at the time or come back when quieter. Thanks Matt for your help today. 👍🏼

Had a meal here with my Mum and Dad. The service was excellent and the atmosphere was very welcoming. Special mention to Tony for taking the time to talk to my Dad about the rugby even though he was very busy. Customer service is very good.

Situated next to Hornchurch Underground Station and several bus routes this pub is easily accessible. A good range of beers/real ales. Food served throughout the day from an extensive menu. A mix of locals, visitors and staying guests. The pub is now open early for breakfasts from 10am. Friendly staff and a good atmosphere.

We had a short notice booking for a double room. The room we received was comfortable, spacious, well-furnished and very clean. I was pleased with the complimentary toiletries, tea and coffee. The downstairs venue is loud and busy until late hours, but that's what you sign up for when you book an inn, so we were okay. The location is very convenient. The only issues we had were that the shower head could not be fixed at a hight and always slid down, and the blanket was very hot. On the second night of our stay it was very windy, and the historic single-glazed windows rattled a lot, so we couldn't sleep. In the morning, the manager offered us free breakfast to compensate for the inconvenience, which was awfully kind and definitely made a difference, hence the 5*. The breakfast was delicious. Would recommend this place to anyone passing through Hornchurch.

Went to this pub on Saturday, 28th Dec, with friends sat at table number (70) and i would not eat at this pub again. The food was not good at all. Three of us had gammon which was so dry and hard to cut. No wonder thats why they gave us a steak knife. One had the steak which they asked for medium and it came out so burnt we sent it back. The second one was not much better, again was not medium more like well done and i had to go and speak to one of the managers because the wait for it was long. I also told her that the food was not good and she said nothing. Didn't even come over to our table (70) to apologise. If this is your managment team then you.need to send them on courses on how to speak and deal bettet with diners complaints and the waiter needs a personality transplant, not the job for him. I will not be eating here again. And you need to send the chef on a course on how to cook food... lll

We visited from America and immediately felt welcomed. The shepherd’s pie was the best I’ve had, the spicy chicken sandwich was delicious, and the beer selection was fantastic! Connor and Harry were a pleasure to speak with and their service was outstanding! We will absolutely be eating here again during our trip!! Thank you for the lovely experience.

If you like an old-fashioned pub then you've come to the right place. The pub is lively, very cozy and well frequented by locals. There is also regularly something to do. The staff is very friendly and the food is good. The hotel rooms are neat, spacious and clean. Had a wonderful week here!

I come in for something to eat with my mum, I was served by a lovely lady named Candy who always seems to be working hard and with a smile on her face.

As a regular visitor to the Railway Hotel for drinks and dinner everything is normally excellent, however on this evening the biggest issue and disappointment was having to wait over an hour for our food to be served. This is extremely unusual, not sure if it conicided with the launch of the festive menu and what appeared to be a large group in the function room, but it did spoil the evening having taken my 80 year old father out for a meal, ordered via the app at 19:38 and despite enquiring 30 mins later and being told that the app does not advise of delays when ordering still didnt receive our meals until almost 9pm

Nice and fast service had close to no trouble and complains decent pub for an event.

Nice hotel. Good starting point for London trips. Right next to the station, you can be in the center of London in no time. Nice atmosphere and cozy. Really British with a pub that is always busy.

I stayed one night here. Room was okay with clean fresh bed linen, a good bath shower area, and average facilities meant that it was on par with a premier inn. However the corridor leading to the room was in need of refurbishment, having tired looking decor, particularly the coved areas. Upstairs the corridor stunk of cigarette smoke, and it shouldn't have. From the room I could hear the very noisy bar down below. I found that the hotel/bar staff were fairly standoffish, and would not give me the room key until they had taken payment for the room. Overall I'd say it was okay, but certainly nothing special. I can't comment on the breakfast because I left fairly early, and long before they had prepared it. I believe the room rate included breakfast, and I advised them previously that I wouldn't be taking it, but no discount on the rate was ever mentioned. Overall 5/10. Would I return ? Sorry, but a big no.

I hired the Mallard Room for a surprise birthday party and did book a few months in advance. I met with Matt to make the initial booking and found him to be really accommodating and friendly, All our requests were met and staff on the night were also friendly and helpful. The venues sound limiter for our DJ meant that the music was quite low volume throughout but that’s just something to note. The buffet was excellent, yes a little pricey per head but as promised, everyone had a decent plate of food! Food is cleared after 2 hours but you can choose what time it’s served. We had a great memorable night and would highly recommend the venue for private party’s. Thanks to Matt & all the staff at The Railway

Can't believe the prices, enough to make a saint swear and I did 😁 apologiesed to the barmaid,who was proper, friendly and understanding, probably fed up with people saying "How much"said I should complain, maybe they'd listen and sort out the prices.Wanted a pint of coke,don't do it,looked about 300ml,just over 1/2 a pint,£3.70,for that price won't be returning in a hurry ❌👎

My sister and I stayed here this last weekend. I cannot fault anything, from a lovely friendly welcome at reception, to the maids who cleaned the rooms. A great, lively spot with the added bonus of a great DJ on Saturday night that played great 80s and 90s (sorry I was constantly up with requests) 😂. We had a great time. We stayed at The Railway Hornchurch. We booked a room and a table for six for evening meal plus breakfast for Sunday. The hotel was very clean, staff were friendly and polite. Had a large menu catering for vegan and children as well. Plenty of various drinks on offer. The room was extremely clean and spacious. Facilities included tea and coffee, lovely shower and toilet. Hairdryer plenty of hanging space. Our only downside was being a Saturday night they had entertainment which we can understand but it was very loud and you could here it in the room but otherwise had a fantastic stay.

Popped in here this evening for some nibbles. Food changed as they did not have something in stock but replaced. Evening going well but our beers were flat. Went and asked for them to be change and the barnaid was extremely rude and aggressive. She poured the beer into another glass and said the beer is not the problem just the glass. I then said I don’t appreciate my beer just being poured into a new glass and asked for it to be poured again in fresh glasses. She then went and poured the drinks again but was aggressively saying the whole time not the beer but the glass. I then replied we have every right to change a beer should we think it is flat. I then went back and and about 10 minutes later the manager Matt I believe his name was then slammed £12 on our table and said after your swearing to my bar tender you can take your money and get out of the pub. Then standing there with our drinks in his hands. My husband at the time was not at the table so I felt even more threatened the way he was holding the glasses and leaning over the table as I was on my own. He just kept telling me to get out and then when my husband returned he did not even explain to my partner. Just told him he can get out too. I’m calmed my partner down as he heard the way he was talking to me. I also believe Matt had been drinking and asked him so which he obviously denied. He went a way for a bit as I said please stop antagonising the situation let me grab my bag and we will leave. As we left the pub a member of staff was winking and laughing at my husband and even the girl who I had spoken to earlier was laughing. The manager did not try to stop this. We were extremely humiliated and did not deserve any such appalling treatment. It seems you cannot say anything if your beer is flat. Matt (this was the name he said his name was) and his staff don’t want you to complain. May I also add my husband has been very unwell since returning home. Which I am hoping is not food contamination.

Went for Sunday lunch and was seated in the side room. Food was very nice and excellent portion sizes. Service was very attentive . Great for lunch

Stayed here for 2 nights on a trip away in the week, staff were really helpful and friendly. The rooms were nice and big, also very clean. Food and drink was great too. 10/10 would stay again.

Came to stay the night before getting married and I couldn't have been happier! Beds are clean and comfy bathrooms are immaculate and the staff are amazing! Nicki helped us with anything we needed nothing was too be an ask. I will definitely be returning!

The definition of pub culture. Situated in a bustling little London suburb, this place does a lot right. Rooms are spacious, and i've never seen a hotel bathroom that clean!

Candy was lovely. Polite, helpful, couldn't have done enough for us. We'll be back.

A first time visit to this notorious pub (A few years ago the Landlord was imprisoned because a customer died from food poisoning). A great atmosphere, friendly staff and later on. A pub band. All good fun We had a really good night in this lovely local.

Had a very comfortable stay here on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago. Very helpful friendly staff. Good atmosphere in the bar area. A great breakfast using high-quality produce plus as many teas, coffees, juices you can drink included in the price. Great location. A 10 minute walk into the centre of Hornchurch were there are some great bars, etc. The V Bar is a great Nightclub doing retro music on a Saturday night! Free parking on site included, too. Excellent quality Hotel overall for a reasonable price. Highly recommended!

It was an Uber eats delivery. Some of my order was missing the steak was not as advertised and it was cold. Won't use again.

First time in this pub for a charity event and was absolutely packed. service was great and would definitely go back again connor gave us a great service.

First visit today for a Sunday brunch. I had the Brunch burger which I thought was tasty and a fair price which includes a variety of fruit juices and hot drinks. Menu is not as varied as some outlets but I would definitely have a brunch from an Ember Inn's pub again. Staff were very good.

Shows the England football match, when staff asked why they are no England flags they state management told them not to incase it offends people. Disgraceful behaviour yet they charge £7 for the privilege. .

Only one negative, we were told when ordering the food would be about 30 mins, it was nearer to an hour we waited, due to the amount of customers. However it was definitely worth waiting for. Not one bad comment from any of our group, we all had nothing but praise for the food. Looked good, tasted delicious and was hot, so would throughly recommend. I will be visiting again.

Great place to eat and food is delicious. Service with a smile from the bar staff, and there was bands playing for a charity festival and the whole experience was one I will be going back for In the near future
