Matt and his team delivered superb customer service and hospitality throughout the whole day.. couldn’t ask for a better team or Manager.

Great place to eat and food is delicious. Service with a smile from the bar staff, and there was bands playing for a charity festival and the whole experience was one I will be going back for In the near future

When the third person to arrive before me got served ahead of me at the bar I left. Was going to order a meal. Obviously I can't comment on how good or bad the food is.

Being served by Connor is always a great experience, friendly, efficient and always has time for a quick chat about how your day has been.

Me and a friend come in earlier for lunch and it a lovely experience. Food was served quickly and with friendly staff (in particular, Liane and Candy). Would recommend :)

Great pub, great atmosphere and great service

Friendly, spacious pub with good atmosphere. Was served by Hannah who was very attentive with a good sense of humour.

Stayed in the Hotel single room. Room was ready on arrival which was a big plus point (1pm). Staff were very helpful and attentive, nothing was a problem and they were always on hand to help. Room was a bit too hot - and could be beneficial to have better ventilation within the room. The shower was also a bit dusty - but I assume that was because the room had been cleaned but not used in a while. Single glazing makes the room very prone to noise from the main road and trains at night- but given the location you can't be surprised.

Nice local chain pub, friendly helpful staff and for London reasonable prices.

I had my 60th birthday party in the malard room . The staff were absolutely brilliant. Food was excellent, I chose the gold buffet menu . The young lady who served behind our bar was amazing . The DJ was fantastic. The staff cleared all the mess up end of evening . Only downside was we didn't want to leave as we were having such a great night . Definitely recommend here for all your parties etc

Lively and quite noisy but great value

Came in to the pub with a group of friends, the atmosphere was very welcoming and we got served very quickly Nikki served us and was very friendly and had a laugh with my table. A total credit to The Railway!!

Lovely team, Very helpful and polite.

The Railway is a great place, it’s very welcoming and Matt and all the team there make you feel at home. It has such a great atmosphere and there are always bands or DJs on at weekends. The food is amazing and the Sunday roast is next level! Look out for Hayley behind the bar as she has an amazing smile, great banter and always working her socks off.

Took my Mum for lunch on mother's day, all our meals were lovely and the bar and restaurant staff were really nice, definitely recommend.

Was good food and excellent value but we were disappointed that not enough time was left between table bookings so we felt rushed into leaving before the next booking arrived. We could only eat as fast as the food was served! Left a slight sour taste in what overall was a nice meal.

This is a short drive from the M25 and an excellent base, free parking to residents and 50yds from tube station. Very popular , need to book if U want to eat there , room was decent size. Had DJ playing on a sat night with nice atmosphere. Beer is ok but only 2 pumps had anything on and just standard ales

My partner and I decided to try the railway today for lunch. We were pleasantly surprised by just how nice the food was. Rachel was extremely helpful and attentive to our needs. The atmosphere was also very cosy too. We will definitely be returning!

Large group of us visited Saturday evening for dinner and drinks. Food was excellent. As we were leaving the DJ started. Great atmosphere in main bar area. Nice to see a local pub nice and busy. Manager on duty was very helpful. (Sorry didn’t get his name!)

A great pub, very near Hornchurch (tube) station. This is a pub, restaurant and hotel. (There are not many hotels in Hornchurch) The place can get busy, but you can usually find a seat. This has a nice outside area which is great for summer. A recent refurb (2022) has spruced the place up nicely The food is standard Ember Inns fare. Which can be surprisingly nice.

We hired the hall for a 70th birthday party. We arrived at 4pm to set up the hall. We were greeted by Kyle, the deputy manager. He was very friendly and extremely helpful. He moved tables and chairs to where we needed them, he made sure we had everything in place for what was required. We returned to the hall at 7pm before the guests arrived at 7:30pm. Again he met us and checked everything was suitable and organised. The bar staff were very good. The buffet was amazing, so much delicious food and everybody had a really good time. Kyle checked in with us at various times throughout the evening to make sure all was good. He also came at the end to make sure if we needed help clearing anything away. Overall a very enjoyable evening and would definitely book again and would recommend to others too!!

I live in the USA and every year I book a table at the Railway Hotel in Hornchurch for my family's Christmas dinner. This has become somewhat of a tradition. Even when the unfortunate poisoning and subsequent death of customer, I continued to book a table every year. The only time that this did not occur was the year that I was informed that you did not have the staff to furnish the meal. This year was no different, I booked the table and paid the deposit from Florida as usual. I tried to pay the remainder of my deposit by phone, but after waiting over an hour and getting a non stop engaged signal I gave up. I filled in a form on your website that said that I would get a response. The response that I got was that there would be no response as you can only answer a few emails due to enquiry volume. I did not want my brother to have to pay. I wanted to take care of the rest of the bill myself. Of course, I can reimburse him, but as the meal was a gift, I wanted him to enjoy the meal without worrying about the bill. When my party arrived, they were told that there was no chance of receiving a Christmas lunch as they should have ordered at least a week in advance. They were also told that I received many emails concerning this matter with no response. I can categorically state that this is not the case. I have checked my spam folder and that too received no communication. My party asked if they could postpone the reservation, so that they could order in good time, they were told that you were fully booked, although subsequent investigation shows that this may not be the case according to your own website. The manager, a lady was a little brusque. My sister and her husband upon hearing that there was "no chance" of a Christmas dinner went home. My sister was very, very upset. My brother decided that as you already had my deposit that he would eat off the regular menu along with his daughter and wife. As they were getting ready to order another lady manager who was much friendlier and helpful said that they may be able to provide a Christmas lunch which was then provided.

Lovely pub! Great music and good vibes. Loved elle who served us. I was unsure on what rum to order, and she gave me lots of recommendations. Couldn’t fault her.

Had Christmas party at the Railway in Hornchurch. Food,Service and Atmosphere was brilliant. Had 35 guests and everyone enjoyed their night and are looking forward to doing it again

We came for the santa breakfast. Both my children are autistic adhd and it was a perfect atmosphere for them. We loved the idea of having a room separated from the main area it felt more intimate and special. We loved the idea of the disco, parce the parcel too. The food was perfect. Unlimited drinks was a fab idea and kept away from the kids. Also loved the idea of a short film to calm the children down at the end. Sensory toys in the pass the parcel was fantastic. Can't wait to book for next year. And I'll be bringing more family and friends.

It was a really nice stay. Stayed with work and the staff were extremely helpful as my payment was not sent through properly. Got a beer in the house while it was all ironed out. Given the price points. I found the food extremely good value. And of good quality. Cannot moan one bit.

Good warm atmosphere polite staff. We were in the function room and we had food which was very good indeed.

We hired the function room for our gender reveal last night that was organised by Karl who helped the night run smoothly and made sure we was satisfied with everything before the party begun. All the staff were so friendly and made the night so enjoyable. Will definitely be hiring the function room for future events thank you! 💙

As mature customers...use of "app" not relevant to us...hence need to go to bar etc.Food fair...misc veg could have been prepared better... numerous stalks on plate that should have been in bin!

We had a family party in the function room at The Railway for my Mum's 99th birthday. The food was lovely and Matt and his team did a great job for us.

Had drinks ordered a meal looked good on the menu but when it turned up I needed a magnifying glass to see the sausage mash on giant plate with tank full of gravy , mash was like liquid baby food sausage were like chard embers onion rings looked like the had seen ghost gravy well there was tank full

We had Sunday lunch at this pub today and the potatoes and parsnips were stale. They were turning black inside and you could tell they had been reheated The waiter was very nice when we showed him and offered us a free dessert as compensation which we declined.

Great pub, but it gets very hot on warm days. Would be great to have some air conditioning or fans.

We always come here for the Quiz, drinks and service are good but the room the quiz is done in is sweltering (regardless of temperature outside)

The service at this pub is always efficient even when busy, which is exactly what one wants. The beer is kept well and always offers a variety of brands. The 'pub food' is just that, thereby fitting the bill perfectly for a casual and very reasonably priced Sunday lunch.

Good check in, food OK, breakfast was good. Room small but fine for a night. No complaints really. Will stay again when in the area.

Attended a function in the Mallard Room. It was MUCH too hot for a party. The windows don't open, we weren't allowed to open the doors. The air conditioning did not work sufficiently, if at all. It was the same 4 years ago in summer. It's such a shame that the air conditioning was not upgraded during the recent refurbishment. I was thinking of hiring the room for an event but now will not do so and will actively disuade friends from doing so.
