The Railway in Liverpool

One of my favourite pubs in town. I still love coming to this place even 18 months sober. It's just a dead nice gaff

The Railway didn't live up to the great reviews for us, but we probably visited at the wrong time. Value for money was excellent; I couldn't fault the prices, but by dinner time on a Monday, they'd run out of a lot of the menu, which was fine. Went for my third choice which was salt and pepper chips, and it was just okay. It didn't really have a whole lot of flavour without being drowned in the sweet chilli sauce. Service was fine; it was really quick, but not particularly warm or hospitable. The staff seemed like they didn't really want to be there, to be honest. I understand Mondays might be slow, but we felt quite let down by this place after reading such good reviews. I wouldn't go here again outside of a weekend.

Fantastic real pub with terrific customer service ethic, great selection of beers and great food at very reasonable prices.

What a traditional British pub should be, great beer, great food, great atmosphere and doesn’t break the bank. Will definitely go back if in Liverpool.

Found this little Gem unexpected, as we just checked into the hotel nearby. It was a busy evening, but the staff were very polite and provisional, and the food was out of this world A* all round

Food was very good and its a lovely place to relax

A pub I always look forward to visiting on any trip to Liverpool City Centre I take is The Railway Pub, been here before on many occasions, always had a good time and so it proved on our latest visit to here. A great looking pub ,interior is superb, multi roomed, pubby decor and furnishings, an eye catching serving bar dominates the main room, etched glass features and plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub both inside and outside in their beer garden, its just a really good pub to unwind in. We were here on a bitterly cold March afternoon, pub was busy with a great atmosphere, we had a study of their real ale's and opted to have pale ale's from Sharps Brewery ( Doom Bar pale ale ) ,these were served in excellent condition, we chilled out, warmed up and planned out the day ahead while sipping our pale ale's. My pale ale was really good, a crisp, golden pale ale, hints of toffee, overtones of vanilla, a super hoppy and tasty pale ale bursting with taste and very easy to drink, it was just so good being in such a lovely pub enjoying a quality brew and served by staff who are genuinely pleased to see you in their pub, its hardly surprising that this pub is so popular with ale's served in this good a condition. We both really enjoyed our pale ale's in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to The Railway Pub we had a great time. The Railway Pub is easy to locate along Tithebarn Street. Opening hours are; Monday to Sunday, midday till 11pm. If you're a fan of quality real ale's it's a pub most definitely well worth checking out.

Old world pub opposite the former Exchange Station. Attractive interior with clientele who seem to enjoy a good blether yet create little noise resulting in a pleasant atmosphere. Both food and drink well up to expectations. Recommended.

Great Sunday lunch menu. Three courses for just £15.95 Choice of starters, meats and desserts Ella, Ross and Louise were the great waiting on team. You couldn’t fault them. Ethan and Blake behind the bar gave first class service too.

Was recommended by locals to try the Railway for Sunday lunch and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic food and a nice cosy atmosphere. Good choice of beer too. We will definitely return !

I had the halumi burger! It was actually really nice, few more of the fab fries & coleslaw would of been a better portion. Hubby had the beef pie, not great , frozen undercooked chips(sent back) not the best meal!!! Great staff & service though, probably wouldn't bother again.

One of Liverpool oldest pubs, we're you can go for a drink and food. You just feel at home in the ambience of the place. We're conversation flows and good times can be had. The pub has character, helped by the freindly staff and lovely homely tasting food with a good variety of ales and cocktails, spirits. What's not to like!

We spent a few days visiting some of the old pubs in Liverpool. This pub is not only beautiful inside but the staff were so friendly and helpful. We ate there the next day and the food was beautifully cooked and presented. My steak was excellent and amazing value for money, I don't know how they do it but they certainly do, thankyou staff 😁😁

The atmosphere, the quality & volume of good - all amazing. Louse was looking after us today, she could not have been more lovely or attentive. So many places in the city to have Sunday lunch but we always migrate back here. You rely can’t fault anything & so we always feel disappointed when we go anywhere else. We’re lucky enough to live quite close so we also pop in for a mid week lunch occasionally, which I also excellent. Honestly, if you’ve got this far, don’t think about it just book!

Good food at great prices not too busy considering mid December

Even though it was really busy (full as it was lunchtime and week before Christmas) service was still really quick. Food was fresh and delicious.

Gemütliches Pub. Wir waren zum sunday roast hier. Sehr gutes Preisleistungs- Verhältnis (16 Pfund für 3 Gänge). Alles lecker, Service freundlich und schnell. Bier sehr günstig (4 Pfund für ein Pint hatten wir sonst nirgendwo). Tolle Musik. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Lovely Sunday Lunch. Very attentive service and just great atmosphere all round. Would 100% recommend to other people.

We came to try the Sunday Roast on the recommendation of a Reddit thread and the truth is that it was a success. Very good price, 16 pounds for a complete menu of first, second and dessert. Everything is delicious.

We were visiting from the states and came in to try their Sunday roast. My fiancé spent his first eight years growing up in England and wanted to have the roast experience again; he said this was the best meal of the trip! I can’t believe the amount of food we got for the price. This place was definitely a highlight of our trip.

Been in the UK and this is the by far the best pub i have been in.

Después de reservar una mesa para 2 : 30, llegamos a las 2: 20 en un Domingo de Recuerdo ocupado, pero no fue ningún problema que estábamos sentados rápidamente. Louise nos habló sobre nuestras opciones de menú y nos atendió muy bien. Ambos nos decidimos por 2 platos, cóctel de gambas para empezar y 2 asados, 1 pollo y 1 cerdo, tanto entrantes como principales llegaron pronto, y eran absolutamente encantadores. Desafortunadamente no puedo comentar sobre el postre, ya que ambos estábamos llenos, así que decidimos no tener uno. En resumen, un ambiente encantador, con comida muy agradable, a un precio de ventajoso, dale una oportunidad que no te arrepentirás.

3 of us opted for the Sunday 3 course lunch,pate with crusty bread was nice,beef roast for main was very good,salted caramel chocolate with clotted cream was heaven for dessert.We enjoyed our food in a nice environment and was good value for money.

We visited on Monday evening. They had no steak pie's so I had the steak and Stilton. I didn't like it at all. The swede and carrot mash was not very warm and the chips were soggy. My husband had the fish and chips he said it was a 6/10 at best. Had checked tripadvisor before visit so was disappointed.

Saturday 12th October 2024 Today, we came to this good real ale pub. There were 4 hand pumped ales on all communal ales the beer I had was in good fettle The pub was a propper old-fashioned local with good barstaff A propper English real ale house

This is wonderful, atmospheric, old-school Liverpool pub which we have visited many times - over many years - and are never disappointed. The current staff are outstanding - they have time to chat and quip, provide fabulous service, and make punters feel totally at home, God bless 'em. Our number one in Liverpool for food, craic and company.

This was awesome, first time coming to this place and I LOVED it.. such friendly staff, Angelica and Elise, the night I was there, were so accommodating and looked after not only me but everyone, so friendly and helpful and efficient. Definitely would attend this pub again in the future :) was a lovely experience! Cheap beers too ;)

3 course roast dinner for £16? Yes please! Make sure to book as it was very busy when we arrived (lucky we booked) considering it was busy, the staff were very attentive and the food was delicious 🤤

My first visit to this city centre pub on a Tuesday evening was a pleasant experience. A good range of ales and lagers with a good menu too. I had the sausage and mash, plentiful and tasty. Friendly bar staff too.

I have been here yesterday and had typical Liverpudlian scouse for dinner. It was amazing! The staff was extremely friendly, the food was delicious and the drinks were good. All for a very fair price! Thank you!!

One of the oldest and most friendly pubs in Liverpool centre. The bar and rooms are very tastefully restored to their original features and makes it one of the must see pubs in the country, along with the Philharmonic.

The vegetarian nut roast was incredible - best I’ve had. Non-veg friend said it was better than the beef! Great value for Sunday roast and friendly service and atmosphere.

Our hotel was near Railway Inn. Looked like a nice local Inn, good reviews too. We ordered an ultimate Burger. However, baked black on top and bottom. This isn't possible. Disappointing.
