The Railway in Mid Sussex

Went out with a few mates for my birthday and they booked to go to The Railway and I was very surprised!!! I showed up to meet friends and was given warm welcome and even said happy birthday to me (friends must have told them) they were amazing start to finish! Thank you team Railway for a great birthday! Food was banging had the burger of month and they have my favourite lager on draught Madrí!! Will definitely be back, I think I’ll take my Mrs out for a nice meal there. If you’re ever in the area I recommend popping in.

Another great visit at the Railway. Brought the family for a get together and we had a lovely time. We sat outside in the beer garden enjoying the sunshine. Service, food and drinks were amazing. Definitely be back again!!

Great Pub really friendly and efficient staff

A little confusing figuring out what to do. Went inside and asked about seating, a big place, how to order. Now I know, but a weird start. Had a burger with fries (chips). The fries were the best I ever had in my life!!!!!! I've eaten lots of fries. I could eat them every day with a beer. Now, writing this, I might have to walk up there today. Nice staff.

Great pub in town and enjoy coming here but the women’s toilets are becoming disgusting. They smell and a door wouldn’t close. It’s really letting down what is a great greene king pub. The outside seating area could do with some TLC too there were lots of full ashtrays and the floor needed a good sweep. Hate to be picky but it’s these things that put me off eating somewhere. Please sort the ladies toilets

Let's get straight to it, this is a Greene King operated pub a 'chain' if you like. However they've created an atmosphere and vibe here that almost mimics a traditional free house, with a local but welcoming vibe. Nice outside area, great selection of drinks and great staff. Ate last time, it wasn't groundbreaking but good value. Keep up the good work!

Great afternoon and evening at the Railway! Sun’s out and this makes for the perfect sun trap! Sharing plates were great! Definitely could’ve eaten them twice! Service with a smile as always! I love this place! Great local! And always bring friends who rave about it! It’s great recommending a place that delivers every time!

Nice enough pub. Staff pleasant. Went there for a birthday party. Won't ever go again though as the company they use for parking management is awful. There is no option to pay by card or app it's cash only. By the time you get some cash you have a guaranteed a £100 parking ticket. Shame that they use this company as I'm sure they must lose a lot of business. If you are paying the charge by cash it is very expensive.

I've given The Railway four out of five stars, but only because I couldn't see a good selection of bitters and ales, though I found a pint of larger I liked and enjoyed this. A great looking pub - both inside and out, would imagine the atmosphere in here on a Friday night is really good. Would definitely visit this pub again and next time I'll try ordering something from the menu.

By station with AstroTurf by entrance and many TV screens. Not a place I wish to return to. Food ok but really felt like cheap refurb to me. Little natural light and not a pretty location with car park next door where contactless payments not working and many warning signs did not improve the atmosphere

What a lovely pub, I'm guessing when the suns out it must be absolutely packed, big outdoor seating area and a TV showing the match on outside aswell, could've stayed for the day.

Food and beer good but no food Mon or Tues lunchtimes, had to go elsewhere for work leaving "do".

I booked a table for 10 on a Saturday night & instead of getting one table, we got two separate ones, bit of an inconvenience but I can live with that… no worries. I then went to order food, baring in mind half the menu is burgers, you would’ve thought that they had all the ingredients to make them.. no. They had no buns. When I asked the Blonde lady behind the bar what she could do about the issue, I received the dirtiest look & no bother to help resolve the problem. The young brunette girl behind the bar had the worst attitude problem. She was passing out evil looks to customers all evening, waving her arms about when there was a problem and clearly only wanted to serve regulars. The uniform there is disgraceful, I’d like to eat my burger (with no bun) without having to see cleavage in my face, if I wanted to see that sort of thing, I would’ve gone to hooters. A change of barmaids is needed immediately, apart from all the above, all good.

Another fab night at the Railway, great vibe, great food and the staff are always great at remembering guests that have been in before, they remember your drink and are always really positive. First night in a while, but I’ll be back. It’s a great locals pub!

I went to the railway for the first time in a while last night and was served by a really lovely barmaid called Natalie. She was really friendly, she took her time to explain the wine options to us and made us feel instantly welcome. The pub was busy and created a warm atmosphere. I will definitely be going back.

Me and my family came for a lovely lunch! Everyone was friendly that worked there.. abi was so lovely and helpful as my son is picky with food but she went out of her way to help. Love the decor of the pub also will definitely be coming back.

We went there for lunch, it is very lovely pub. Staff very attentive and polite. We got our food pretty quickly. My chili pulled mushroom was very tasty. I totally recommend. My friend ordered fish and chips - it was a huge portion. If you’re really hungry that’s the one to pick. Another friend ordered some starters - he said that mini burgers were disgusting - so maybe avoid that one.

I couldn’t be more happy with our dinner yesterday. The food came out very quickly and was delicious. A massive thank you to all the staff that were working yesterday, they were all so lovely!

We walk past this pub regularly and see the sign board advertising events and food as "All day food" so we thought one day to give it a try. The door was locked and when we went around to the courtyard area entrance we were basically shouted at by a member of staff from the inside saying that they are closed and only open at 12, the time was about 11:45. We felt quite offended how we were chased away that we felt that we had to share our experience. It is definitely not all day food as advertised. Looking at their website now after the day it says that opening times are from 11am and food is served from 12pm. These times don't quite make sense and they should clarify their times better. So if you do go, be sure to only arrive by 12 or risk being chased away. We visited on Saturday 12 August.

I love this pub! Staff are always so welcoming and friendly and the food is always super fast and delicious! The manager Steve is running a great ship and should be proud of the outcome guest receive! i will forever hype this pub up! ❤️

I was stood at the bar for about 10 minutes, the staff would completely ignore you and serve the people they knew instead, even if they had just walked up. Terrible service.

We visited for food and drinks Friday afternoon. We received a warm welcome by Gavin when we arrived and he gave us an excellent service throughout our time at The Railway. We ordered three senior meals, which were hot, tasty and generous portions ~ great value for money. Gavin has a great sense of humour and makes his customers feel valued. We left with a smile and will be back soon.

Called to book a few tables for a work meeting and the guy I spoke to on the phone was so helpful at getting this sorted! Meeting went so well and the area that was designated to us was perfect for a quiet few drinks and bite to eat! Staff were patient with our big booking and the food and drink was lovely! Thankyou so much! We will be returning.

Came here after friends said this was the place to be for food and drinks so we ordered food and drinks food burnt (lasagna) yuck cheese and bacon burger bland wasn’t great but what topped it off was the lack of care the staff took...

Favourite pub in town, the atmosphere is cosy, inside when it’s cold out with open fire place, comfy fabric chairs, rather than all clinical hard surfaces most places have changed to. There’s lots of seating indoor and out with shelter and heaters. Its lovely in the sun in the summer in the beer garden, It’s clean the staff are friendly and polite, the food and drinks are good and reasonably priced. The ladies toilets are stocked with female toiletries to use if you need to, which is really cute and thoughtful. The DJ on a Friday plays really good music & I always have a great time when I visit!

Had the most amazing Christmas party with my work mates. The tables was decorated amazing and the food was delicious and the service was five star. Looking forward to dancing the night away in 2023

Food was really good - service could have been better as they were not very welcoming and what appeared to be locals were making fun of us alongside the staff which was quite uncomfortable.

Had my brothers 60th in a private area with a buffet. The food was excellent , the pub itself was busy, it was a Saturday so they were showing football which seemed popular and later in the evening as we were going there was a band setting up...the Railway is a busy lively pub and great that if you park right next door they refund all your money as long as you keep the ticket

Cosy olde world pub setting with a large variety of beers and gins. A perfect spot to rest up. Summer time must be a fantastic experience on the item deck over looking the high street bustle.

Great pub. Excellent variety of food and reasonably priced. Indoor layout is spacious even on busy nights. Staff are so lovely and friendly. The best atmosphere as it can be relaxed or a party environment depending on the day. Would definitely come again.

My favourite place to go in East Grinstead! Very family orientated in the day and a great atmosphere in the evenings of a weekend. Food is fantastic and very reasonably priced, all home cooked and greatly sourced. The selection of gin they have is amazing! Staff are always so friendly too. 10/10.
