The Ardingly Inn Restaurant in Mid Sussex

A pub that became a hotel and is now not quite either. Has both restaurant and 'dining pub' area. Reasonable menu and OK food. Bedroom was clean and comfortable.

I attended a funeral wake here. Good prices and respectful service, considering the occasion.

I can’t stress just how poor our visit was, how disappointing and how angry it made me. We booked a room on their website to which they confirmed by email. I stress this as they had ample opportunity to advise us they had a live band playing a few metres from our room until 11pm! After that a noisy table of people continued shouting until 11.45pm. This followed one of the worst meals we have tried to eat. In a totally empty restaurant devoid of any atmosphere - not a picture on the walls, poor lighting and scruffy furniture overlooking a dilapidated garden. Our food included Concrete pies and peas like bullets, even the ice cream had ice crystals in it. It was in all an appalling experience save the cleanliness of the room and the sincere embarrassment of the guy who attended us.

We booked on their website expecting to find the comfortable and friendly accommodation the site promised. They confirmed our booking by email but said nothing about a live band playing a few metres from our room until 11pm nor that a noisy group of people would then shout even closer to us until 11.45pm. Having asked if we would be dining we entered a totally empty restaurant to be served one of the worst meals we have ever tried to eat. The whole experience was a nightmare only slightly relieved by the sincere embarrassment and apologies from the guy to whom we complained. (Not the owner). The room was clean but cold and did not warm up when we asked the owner why the radiator couldn’t be adjusted up as it was stone cold.

Sunday roast was fantastic, and big portions.

Lovely pub, lovely food, excellent staff but I don't expect on a Sunday afternoon to have a child screaming for an hour. I would have taken my child out which I did when she went off on one. Do NOT call us dinosaurs!

I've been to this pub a few times, very freindly and welcoming pub, dog friendly and a great kids menu. There are a few retired regulars who seem to think it's 'their' pub, and couldn't tolerate my young kids being loud and enjoying themselves for a couple of minutes. I'm not sure what they expect when they go to a pub on a Sunday afternoon, that has a kids menu..... Maybe they should stick to Monday-Friday if they have so much trouble hearing kids enjoy themselves. Nothing against the pub at all, just the impatient, dinosaur regulars.

Had a business meeting here today and I have to say it was a fantastic experience. From making our booking to the warm welcome to the food and drinks, everything was perfect. Staff were extremely attentive and friendly and the food was delicious. Highly recommend this pub. Thank you. Will definitely be returning. Tyler.

Thought we would give this pub another try as I believe it has new owners . Bar staff lovely and friendly but food very disappointing. Went for my birthday , very limited menu when I asked why I was told because its January and they are quite. Didn't have the pie or the salmon so ended up having the chicken curry which was very disappointing. The rice was like a sponge and the curry was very dry . As I said staff lovely but would not go back for food , very disappointing

I hadn’t been in this pub for about 15 years but when I heard it had been refurbished & taken over I thought I should give it ago. Since then I have been in weekly to eat & drink, the food & the service has been great. I would highly recommend the beef burger & chicken burger.

Had a meal and drinks in the bar area , excellent food very good service , felt like it was part of the community, dog friendly, good choice of beers , lager and cider.will visit again when in neighbourhood.

We had a great roast dinner today at the Ardingly Inn. We had the pork and it was delicious the service was fantastic we will be back soon.

Erg gezellig en heerlijke pizza's

Stayed here in June before a wedding I was attending locally. Room was lovely and clean. The barmaid welcomed us in and gave us the keys etc, the owner was on hand to provide a fan and iron. We left early so didn't eat breakfast but I would stay here again. Great value for money and did I mention that the room was super clean!

Bartender is top. Nice down to earth locals. Good times.

Was helaas dicht op vrijdagmiddag... Onduidelijk wat nu de openingstijden zijn van deze pub. Helaas had het café ernaast geen lager. Wel mooie milkshakes.

Visited a few of friends who were staying here before a wedding the next day at The Ravenswood. The garden could've done with a few more tables and chairs. Food was very nice and the "fully loaded" 12" pizza was excellent.

Went here for a drink, the drinks were great and the service was amazing. Would recommend visiting if you're in Ardingly.

Nice pub, popped in for a drink and while the service was great and the pub was nice but it was a shame we had to leave early as the place was very quiet. Weekends are very busy apparently so may go back as the barman was very chatty and was nice guy indeed .

We had a short visit but enjoyed the inn and the town.

We had such an amazing experience this weekend at this lovely, warm pub/ hotel. Max was so helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean, beds were comfortable and breakfast was delicious. We will definitely be coming back next year

Lovely pub .. eclectic decor old and modern but feels welcoming and is . Staff are friendly and helpful. Dog friendly. Food was good we had evening meal and breakfast. Room was very clean and all we needed. Would stay again and recommend.

So I actually went to the Ardingly café and here I was served the pictured lovely, tasty dish, Avacardo Smash with scrambled Egg, instead of a Poached Egg as I don't particularly like them. This was again no trouble as I had actually substituted to a fried Egg before the scrambled eggs from the poached Eggs! I and my Partner were actually late as cooked service should have ceased at 2.15, we having arrived at 2.30 were nonetheless warmly welcomed and quickly served the pictured lovely dish! My partner had the same, no drama on her part with which Eggs to have with her serving with!

We stop in the cafe next door to have a good coffee which was great after a long morning walking around the reservoir.

GreT place to stay, staff very friendly good location. Would stay there again.

The welcome brilliant but it lacks direction and a woman's touch rooms not very clean and somebody had thrown stones and sticks into our open window from the beer garden no problem but why .Would we stay again I'm afraid not food sub standard cold on arrival great shame

Emma the Chef is superb, great, tasty food and very accommodating of all our dietary needs. I personally enjoyed the pizza.

What smashing pub, good ale and pizzas were a welcome reward for our gang of trail runners. I should think we will come again.

Stayed at the Ardingly Inn and had dinner in the eve, with a open fire, and bed and breakfast, may I say staff are amazingly helpful and lovely, Emma the chef is not only lovely to talk to, her food is delicious, highly recommended to all for a visit, can't wait to return again soon 😁

Wonderful place. Cannot rate this high enough. Nice room, great breakfast, beautiful location and the owners could not be more helpful. When my wife suffered a migraine the morning we were leaving they went out of their way to accommodate and help us. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

No complaints about the coffee or food. There is a step making my friends wheelchair difficult. Other than that, very good.

Love coming here for a scrummy cooked breakfast. Nice staff and the food is always tasty and good quality. Would recommend for sure.

It's not terrible, but I would not choose to stay here again. Stairs are steep and not well lit. Food is uninspiring. Room was cramped. Doors are hard to open and close as they clearly weren't adjusted the last time the carpet was changed. On the plus side the shower was good by hotel standards and the place was clean and tidy. The staff were all friendly and helpful. You pays your money and takes your choice.

Missed the restaurant becouse it closed an hour earlier than advertised and the beds (we had a double room as it was the only room available when we booked) were so soft we checked ro see if they were blow up.

Family run, nice pub in Ardingly. Good pizza, range of toppings. Nice inside, felt covid safe. Big outside garden with benches.

Great food, freshly prepared. Just caught the last lamb shank and the cider battered cod was huge! The bar has a one way system in place and everyone in the bar was socially spaced with enough room to walk through and place order. Was a nice evening so sat outside for tea. Excellent value (even if the Eat Out scheme wasn't in place). Friendly bartender too.

The pizza! It's terrific. I spent a night there and was greeted warmly by the staff. They gave good COVID measures in place which I appreciated. My room was a little small but perfectly adequate, and spotless. As others may have said, the only food available is pizza. But what a pizza! It was delicious. One of the best I've had anywhere. Overall I really enjoyed my stay and I would definitely stay there again when I'm back in the area.

Not an obvious choice for Fish and Chips but our local was not anssering their phone. The meal was ready at the time agreed. Also the cod and chips was great with wonderful crispy batter and the chips were good too.

Happened upon this lovely little treasure with a friend whilst our other halves where doing a Charity Bicycle ride on Sunday 1st Sept. What a fantastic mix of country and contemporary styling coupled with great food and service with a smile! I had the light and fluffy scrambled eggs on granary toast alongside a couple of delicious strong flat whites, my friend had the homemade granola and yoghurt, which she told me had just the right amount of sweetness and pot of herbal tea. The cakes and other items coming out of the kitchen looked equally tempting! l definitely recommend a visit to the Ardingly Café, it's the kind of place where you could just pop in for a cuppa or easily while away an hour or so over homemade food and a cosy atmosphere. The young Ladies serving are polite, attentive without being overbearing all in all a credit to the Cafè. Look forward to seeing you all again!!

Basic rooms the ones above the bar rather noisy . Continental breakfast below zero full English recommended .Diner not recomended . Small portions and steak instead of medium rare was overdone.

Decided to do a circular walk from Ardingly (no 2 in the Walks from West Sussex pubs) and discovered that the Oak Inn, listed there, has closed down. Chose the Ardingly Inn instead and was surprised to be able to book a table for 8 so easily on a Sunday lunch time. Was there something wrong? Absolutely not. A short but ideal menu, great food for children and adults, friendly service and an all-round lovely lunch - and good value too. The landlord told me that it seems people pass the pub by as it’s slightly set back from the main Lindfield-Turners Hill Road. You’re missing out. We’ll be going back.

A nice place to relax by the open fire in the winter and garden in the summer. Food needs improvement after switching to less fresh and more bought in.

The Inn was lovely. The staff were very welcoming, as were the regular customers. The Inn is pet friendly, and our dog was spoiled with treats and water. There is enough parking space at the back of the Inn for several cars. The rooms were very clean, the beds comfy and the food was delicious. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely go back.

A great little cafe pit stop if your on a cycle or walk in the very scenic area. Has a good range of fresh cakes and some fairly fantastic coffee. Will drop by here again in future rides. Was winter when we stopped but you could sit outside in the summer. Will recommend to friends
