Been coming regularly for some time. Menu has good plain items with just enough twist to keep things interesting. Staff are helpful and engaged, and take food allergies and special diets seriously. Always upfront about the rare kitchen hitch.

Just popped in for our usual pre theatre drink. Place was packed (Saturday night) and not a problem. Great atmosphere and lovely staff. Only downside is the toilet is now unisex. Is this the norm now in pubs and restaurants?

The Railway was perfect for drinks and a chat before we went our separate ways and got the train home. The prices were great, especially the £3 drinks deal! The location is ideal as it is over the road from the train station. The pub would benefit from a refurb but nothing major. We felt cosy and had a nice time.

We came here as they were showing the Aston Villa Game. We ordered 5 tapas for 20.75 - great portions , quick service and the food was great. Very welcoming and friendly staff , drinks reasonable priced and you can order from your table too. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Birmingham or even if you are just passing.

Pasé por una pinta después de un día de trabajo con mi compañero, se ve limpio y las cervezas cuestan entre 3 y 4. También se aseguraron de identificarnos, lo cual es bueno de ver, ya que mantiene alejados a los jóvenes de boca ruidosa.

Entré para comer algo y estaba delicioso, comimos las picaduras de pollo frito sureño, champiñones borrachos y calamares como entrante y tuvimos la mega parrillada mixta y la pechuga para los platos principales, lo recomendaría encarecidamente, y la joven que nos sirvió fue excelente, ella es un mérito para ti. Creo que su nombre era Jennifer. Muchas gracias.

From the outside it may look intimidating but don’t let this put you off inside it’s superb. The drinks are always well poured and the food is always top quality. It’s spacious inside and a great pub to feel comfortable and just put your feet up. A lot better than some of the other pubs in the city centre.

Manager and staff extremely friendly and manager was constantly cleaning in light of current Coronovirus situation, would definitely visit again

I visited the Railway and it was a fantastic experience, the food, drink and service were second to none, I don't know the blokes name but has was folicly challanged and very funny a real tribute to your team.

While cheap n cheery, the place is truly a gem. Great staff, friendly atmosphere and excellent prices! I am a vegan while husband is a carnivore - luckily their extensive menu fits us both. We also love that keep classics on the menu, and are always trying out new exciting dishes.

My son and I popped in whilst waiting for a train after the NEC Spring Fair. Just opposite Birmingham New Street station. Whereas we were nearly attracted by the prospect of Brew Dog nearby, we gave the Railway a go. I'm so glad we did! 2 Notorious P.I.G. Burgers, so easy to get wrong but char grilled to perfection with moist pulled pork and more relishes than you can shake a stick at! SUPER!

Great atmosphere here, I’ll definitely be popping in more often before my commute home from work. For a busy Saturday afternoon the service was top notch. Bob was really friendly and made us feel really welcome and well catered for. The food was spot on and we didn’t have to wait long before it was bought to our table. The tidy up time was quick too. We only popped in for a quick pint but ended up staying for 4 hours.

We had some time to kill some time in Birmingham and ended up here for our breakfast. The staff were super friendly and chatty, the breakfast was yummy. We stayed for a few hours in a quiet corner with our laptops and took full advantage of the super cheap yet delicious coffee. The staff went above and beyond to make this a great experience and the cheap prices just topped off the great experience. Planning to come back soon!

Went in for a quick English Breakfast before catching the train at New Station and did not disappoint. Staff, service, food quality, value were all good. Easily recommend it.

Came across this bar while looking for something with a British feel just by the main station. It’s a lovely warm bar with very friendly staff. Bob served me and really went out of his way to make me welcome. I highly recommend it if you want a beer, food or sports. Plenty of food options as well.

Came here as been here before with my partner. We both ordered and waited for the food to come out. My partners was fine, my pulled pork burger was missing the chips and slaw. I asked the waitress who said it doesn’t come with chips but got me some on the house!! Then a guy came to clear the plates away and I told him about the chips missing, he said that it doesn’t come with chips but he thought it should so gave them to me for free, it was like they were doing me a favour by giving me free chips. On leaving I took a photo of the menu and low and behold, it does come with chips and slaw. This offer is only on the chalkboard outside and one flimsy small menu on the bar, nowhere else. So giving me a handful of chips as a gesture when I should have had a proper portion was wrong. Also, can’t leave feedback on their nominated ‘tell us.pubfeedback.co.uk’ as the domain name is not in use. Please see photo of menu as feeling a bit ripped off.

Visited on a rainy Tuesday evening, so place closed quite early, understandable as not many people in. We will try the food next time, but had already eaten on this occasion, so stuck to drinks. Good selection of well kept beers, and various gins (so She Who Must Be Obeyed, and I were both happy). Cheerful service from bar staff, so, what's not to like? Will return next time in Birmingham, and try the food, which looked very good!

We went to the Railway for our first dinner in Birmingham. When we arrived before 8pm we were advised that the kitchen is closing and we have to hurry up because we won't be served. Therefore on the entrence was written that kitchen is open till 9pm. The rest of the sercvice was fine,besides that the patty of the burger was burnt. The Barmaides were very nice and profesional.

Looked for a convenient place for food before the theatre. Found this on google maps and past reviews positive. Not disappointed great food good cask ale and great staff.

Fuimos al ferrocarril para nuestro desayuno y tenía las salchichas y las mazorcas de huevo (baps) y fueron los mejores que hemos tenido. Hecho con puerros y salchichas de cerdo y un buen huevo que moquea en una mazorca de brioche (bap). Un precio muy razonable y un servicio muy amable que bien merece una visita.

Waren heute Mittag dort und hatten viel Spaß! Das Essen hat sehr gut geschmeckt und die Auswahl an Bier und anderen Getränken ist optimal, ich glaube jeder wird hier auf sein Geschmack kommen. Der Service ist sehr gut (danke Norbert und Kollege !) und man wird schnell bedient. Auf jeden Fall werden wir das nächste mal bei einem Birmingham Besuch wiederkommen.

Came into birmingham to visit the electric cinema for an evening out, the railway is close, what a joy this is.. the food was delicious and prompt, the guy who served us was polite and really friendly asked for his name it's Bob he is an asset to this pub thanks the railway we will be back.... Bravo.

Fuimos aquí hoy para el desayuno, se veía bien, el personal era amable y servicial. Pedimos desayunos, té y café, las bebidas eran como agua de platos y la comida era horrible. Las salchichas se quemaron para que casi no haya carne, los frijoles no se heinze como se indica, realmente en polvo, no hay budín blanco en el desayuno como se indica, y los tomates son blandos. Realmente no recomendaría comer aquí. Real decepcionado.

No es el tipo de ambiente que disfruto. Probablemente tuvimos mala suerte, ya que era sábado por la noche, pero el pub estaba extremadamente ocupado (lo cual es normal para un sábado), ruidoso y el ambiente no era agradable, incluidos los clientes que nos insultaban y nos empujaban. Terminamos saliendo sin pedir nada. Tres estrellas en lugar de una porque los malos clientes no son culpa del personal del bar la mayor parte del tiempo, sino una advertencia para las personas que prefieren un pub más agradable y amigable.

Called in to this pub on 2 consecutive weekends. Just had drinks the first visit. Busy on this saturday evening, lots of people at the bar but service was quick. Good selection of drinks and reasonable price. Second visit was a thursday evening before a gig, we had a few drinks and decided to eat as well as food looked good. Had a sharing platter which was really nice and great value for money. Superb pint of guinness and wine was also nice. We will be back on our next visit to the city.

Loved this place. Just had drinks in here on a very busy Saturday afternoon. I was made to feel very welcome by all the staff and nothing was to much trouble even when i asked if i could have the heating turned up straight away they did it. We went into a the railway yesterday lunchtime for a meal as a belated Valentine's meal, the food was reasonable and lovely,the staff was friendly and polite, toilets was clean and tidy we will let our family and friends know and no doubt will see us again

This place has good food. But it always works out more money for the food than what’s stated on the menu which could confuse older people.

I’ve visited this pub in the past and whilst it’s cheap it had quite a few unsavoury characters in there. This time however, it was really quiet nice, don’t know wether it’s been refurbished but, I’d definitely go back

Este pub tradicional que sirve comida típica de pub tiene un gran menú, cómodos asientos, un personal amable, un gran menú y porciones generosas muy bien presentadas, mi única objeción: chips de mejor calidad mejorarían enormemente las comidas.

Estábamos en Birmingham para un recital de órgano de almuerzo en el ayuntamiento. Buscamos un lugar para almorzar rápido antes del recital. Realmente no hay muchos lugares alrededor del área. Finalmente entramos en este pub, aunque al principio estábamos preocupados porque está al lado de un casino. Resultó que era un pub bastante cómodo. Tuvimos un jamón y queso toasties que incluye un refresco gratis. Volveríamos otra vez por su ubicación ideal.

Not the best, and that’s an understatement. The beer was flat, the glasses were filthy, and the atmosphere was a little too intimidating for a city centre hostelry. The toilets are absolutely disgusting, whilst the rest of the bar was not much better.

What a dive. Beer was flat and tasted off. Carpet was sticky. Toilets were mouldy. Would not order food here.

The food, service and value for money where faultless. The location is perfect. So glad I stumbled upon this place although not attractive from the outside a different story once you go in. I will be back....loved it.

Don’t know why it’s taken me so long to review this place tbf. Myself and my partner either together or separate busy here all the time and so do many of our friends. The atmosphere is always welcoming and the staff are great, the boss is always a pleasure to talk to. The most genuine, polite and an asset to the place is Tash she has always made the visits worthwhile, I believe she’s not a barmaid anymore but works in the kitchen now, which is a pity as her banter with the customers was second to none. The wide range of drinks is a bonus at good prices too, and the food is always fresh, hot and delicious. If you go on a football day then be prepared for a crowd, it’s electric in there and the wide range of ages, groups and people shows what a great place it is.

I was travelling from New St Station just a few yards away and having read the reviews, thought this was a good place for lunch.

Dropped in for dinner recently on an overnight trip to Birmingham. Ideal situation about a two minute walk from my hotel and a similar distance to New Street railway station.

The Railway is a proper home from home, which is rare so close to the centre of the city - the staff are always friendly and attentive and you're never left waiting long, even during busy periods. The price point on food and drinks is second to none in the area and the quality you get for your money is absolutely spot on. Absolute cracker of a pub!
