Absolutely fantastic! We booked two rooms for our journey back from the Highlands and I was so please we found this place. Everything was absolutely perfect. The rooms were modern and clean, beds very comfy ( I had the best sleep in a long time) The staff is very friendly and accommodating ( we stayed with two kids and a dog) and the dinner and breakfast were both delicious. Would definitely stay there again.

We booked an overnight stay here on our way to Scotland. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious & breakfast was excellent. The owners & staff are lovely & went above & beyond during our stay. I’m a parkrun addict & even though breakfast is only served until 10am, they kindly took our order the night before so that we could eat on our return which was just before 10am. Already looking forward to staying next weekend!

Stayed here last week on our way down to Shropshire. Had a very nice visit. Room (5) was nice and spacious for our needs. Had late dinner due to our arrival time but the owner who was serving us was very accommodating and the service was great. Food was very good. Both opted for lamb dishes. I had a lamb burger and my wife had the roasted lamb dish and we shared a bottle of red, all of which was lovely. Breakfast was also very good here. The Full English looked a bit sparse when it arrived but the ingredients were of high quality and it was actually very filling as a result. Service compared to the evening before was a little bit disjointed as we had 2 or 3 people involved in taking orders and bringing items so there was a small breakdown in communication at times but we got everything we needed eventually. My only criticisms of the stay (and these don't impact my rating) are that the TV connection in the room was very poor so the signal was weak and didn't pick up all the channels and the shower was quite cumbersome to use and could do with some instructions on the best way to use it. Overall though its a great place to stay that we'd definitely return to and recommend to others.

We received a very warm welcome on arrival and were very happy with our bedroom. Good size, large very comfortable bed and walk in shower, meeting all our requirements. On the day we stayed the weather was warm and so it was nice to have a pre dinner drink outside in the well maintained garden. Dinner in the restaurant was a very pleasant surprise. Difficult decisions were made on dishes to have as there was such a good selection and when the food came it was well presented and delicious. Making full use of the weather, garden and light night we sat with friends over glassess of wine until late. We would certainly return here again.

Stayed here in our motorhome as a "pub stopover" on the way to Scotland and what a lovely pub, the food was amazing, the staff super friendly and dogs are more than welcome, the location is close to the motorway but set in the countryside and no motorway noise was heard at all overnight and we had a peaceful nights sleep, next morning as the pub opens at 8am for guests staying at the pub we were able to have breakfast there too, fabulous food yet again, advise: book ahead for a stopover which is free if you eat in the pub, we will be back!! We were on our way back from Scotland and looking for a camp site - instead, we found this little gem of a pub. You can stay the night in the car park - they just ask that you stay for dinner. Wow! We had a delicious meal - shared a charcuterie board & bread with oil to start - was delicious. I had lovely home made steak pie with chips that were triple cooked and crunchy. Husband had a rib eye steak that was equally lovely. We finished with sticky toffee pudding and apple pie with ice cream. G&Ts were delicious and a nice bottle of Sancerre. £120 which I thought reasonable. We enjoyed so much we had breakfast next morning & that too was hot and tasty. What a great find - special mention to the staff who were welcoming and so funny. Great team. They have a beer festival 3-6 May. Wish I lived locally as I’d be there all the time!

Honestly have no idea what happened tonight, we had such a disappointing visit that it borders into the comical. The alcohol was about the only thing that wasn’t bad. Service was slow, they had 1 other waiter working. We waited around 10 minutes for drinks. We then waited 30 minutes for the waiter to come back and take our order for starters. We ordered 2x arancini and the camembert. We also ordered a second round of drinks and a coffee and coke. When the camembert and arancini arrived somewhat 15minutes later, both were so incredibly salty, but particularly the arancini. I don’t know how it was even possible to get something that salty, we collectively spat it out because it was that bad. Mind you I’ve eaten some bad food in my time, but I’ve never had a visceral reaction to a food ever. I do not wish to exaggerate or wish ill will; but I cannot describe in words just how bad this food was. For the first time ever in my life, I sent the dishes back and stated we didn’t want to have more mains (because of how long this was taking). You could say I’m a stereotypical folk that will complain under his breath but never say anything, however, this food could not be consumed by a person or animal. When our second drinks arrived, the beer and coke was fine, but my latte was very soapy. I asked for another, the waiter apologised and then made me one more, this was also soapy. At this point, and after confirming I wasn’t going insane by asking others at the table to confirm it was soapy, we decided to give up and go somewhere else. I went to the bar and asked to pay for the drinks and cancel the mains, we didn’t want them. They still charged for the camembert. £43 I think all said and told for well over an hour of our time, waiter said, “sorry about that” and that was it. Great. Honestly, what can you say? You don’t think these things would happen to you… it’s a new experience for me at least. I’ve for the first time sent a dish back. My friends who eat here a lot and have done so all their lives since children were mortified. We went to an Indian around the corner and it was delightful. Such a massive disappointment.

In need of lunch, we stopped by chance at this smart, well run pub. Good decision, bright modernish decor with some classic features. Very well kept Thwaites beer served up by friendly management. The friendly, knowledgeable landlord pointed out that they do beer festivals in the generous outside garden.

King size bed had thick topper and was very soft which didn't suit my hubby with his back, the shower had plenty of hot water but gravity fed so took a while to rinse my hair. Room small especially as we had a dog with us, v. Small TV. Wooden furniture quite nice, towels good. chair seat pad was well used. Quite village location. Bar and dining rooms were nice. Difficulty in finding a bin for the dog waste. Staff friendly. We had to be careful with the tap as it was easy to splash out of the sink when turned on.

Nicely set out and warming restaurant...we found it to be comfortable and relaxing. It is set out with plenty of space for each table/diners. A polite manager served us with drinks and our food and we found him to be talkative and a great host. We ordered 3 x haddock and thick cut chips plus a burger meal, all of which we fresh and tasty. All good. We were left alone to have our chat and only assisted when the manager had to clear the table. Very good front of house method. It is a great place of which we probably return. ( we do live 45 miles away but meet up with friends and family from Scotland in this vicinity ) It also catered for a member of us with allergens very well and easily. Quite comforting to know. Try it as I am sure you will like it here.

We had our dog with us so needed somewhere that would accommodate her, and they certainly did :) The value for money here is fantastic and the staff have been so friendly and welcoming. It’s a very chilled and quiet vibe which we appreciated. We had dinner here last night and went for the steak night offer - 2 steaks and a bottle of wine for £40. It was a really tasty meal. Our room was really clean and nicely presented with everything we needed. It would’ve been handy to have an iron in the room but I’m sure if we’d have asked, they would’ve accommodated. A very pleasant place to eat deserving commendation for creating a restaurant with imaginative cooking, attractive ambience and friendly staff. Booked our Festive Lunch for six friends some time ago and was looking forward to our first Christmas Meal. First of all I would like to mention the two waitresses who appeared to be responsible for the entire restaurant (as saw no-one else) from bringing food, taking drinks orders, clearing tables etc etc - very under-staffed and girls worked their socks off! REVIEW OF MEAL - Starters - no bread with salmon starter and very basic / no butter for the table No water brought to the table Main courses started to arrive before the girls had even had a chance tho clear starter plates away. As only one girl serving ay our table of six it took a while for all mains to arrive and then vegetables arrived some time later. This unfortunately resulted in most of our meals being only luke warm. Roast potatoes were nice but no mashed potato, small stuffing portion arrived with chipolata sausage even later, as had been forgotten for the turkey meals!! Dessert - My cheese & biscuits was awful and caused a laugh at the table. Three tiny bits of dried up cheese and a lot of crackers - no grapes or anything else!! Apple tart again caused a laugh as it was glued to the plate - much like a toffee apple!! All in all a very basic meal and room for much improvement. In addition we were all cold as we sat in a corner away from the fire and the draught from windows was awful. We ended up stuffing cushions and handbags against the glass to help!!! Not quite the experience we had hoped for.

Had a Sunday Lunch with friends from away, but was very disappointed, waited over an hour to be served an then when the roast beef dinner 'with all the trimmings'!!! came, well, first off it was only warm, the one dessert spoon of cauliflower cheese was like mush, the one dessert spoon of mash was hard, the 2 roast potatoes were like bricks, my husband declined on the Yorkshire puddings and the cauliflower cheese as he isn't keen on them, so his plate that was served to him looked like something you would serve a 1 year old, with not having those items we thought he would have been given extra roasts an more veg, but no, an still paid the same price,, like brits, we didn't complain as we were exhausted waiting for our food, so couldn't wait to get out, and also felt it would have fallen on deaf ears, as the waiting on staff didn't seem to have a clue what they were doing,, although it is a pleasant looking setting,, looks can be deceiving!!!! Great for children with small village play area adjacent. Dog walks from the car park. We only stopped for lunch so can't comment on the rooms

Well located restaurant (and hostel) with amazing food. The price is a little expensive but not to much (sunday roast around 15 pounds). The place has a playground area for the kids and parking.

A gorgeous old building with a bright cosy modern interior, and a lovely warm welcome. We had a great stay here. Just a quick overnight stay beginning with a few pints of well-kept and tasty beer. Our room was big, comfortable and cosy. Good shower in the morning and then downstairs for a delicious breakfast, accompanied by some really good (and strong) coffee. We felt so well looked after. Andy was really thoughtful and kind and made us feel completely at home. We'd recommend this place to anyone, and we will definitely be back.

We were looking forward to the evening and going upstairs to the lounge is always a bonus, The starter was ok but the main was haggis neeps and taties as ordered but was so bland and boring, haggis was sliced like Chippy and no taste, same with neeps, very poor indeed, cranican was all cream, pity to say so close to the border and no idea, £40 a head ripoff

The food was not worth the price at all, burger was served just by itself as I asked for no red onion not even a bit off lettuce or salad in sight!my husbands lasagne was so hard on top he could barely cut through it also the chicken fajitas were chewy and unedible and served with a wrap which was stone cold as if straight from the fridge, will most definitely not be back
