Brilliant local pub. Loads of outside space with benches to sit in the sun on the rare occasion it comes out! Dog friendly and campervan friendly (as long as there is room and you check with them on arrival) They do food which from my experience has always been very nice, typical oub food. Small family run so is a nice relaxed pace.

Started in Solway in the morning and stopped midday for lunch and a pint at Greyhound Inn. It was a great stop! The hostess was very friendly and helpful. Beer (and cider) choices were nice and the food menu was perfect for the much anticipated pub lunch. It was a rainy day so we couldn't enjoy the garden but inside was warm and comfortable. Some locals were there and everyone seemed to have at least one dog with them... which was great!

I wouldn’t bother visiting. Rude landlord! We were waiting in the beer garden for the pub to open. We would have had several pints and food but were told we couldn’t wait there and to move on - really rude. Even after we explained that we were wanting to order drinks and food he still rudely told us to move to the park next door. Doesn’t deserve any business.

Worth the walk for these homemade chips! Walking the Hadrians Way our group arranged to have lunch at the Greyhound Inn. A lovely welcome by management. We were impressed by the quality and reasonable price of the food served. I would not normally order chips as I do not enjoy eating tasteless, frozen chips. But so glad I did as the chips here were delicious. Proper home made chips served piping hot, crispy outer with a beautiful flavour. The burger, cumberland sausage and paninis were all very tasty, but the chips were exceptional. I live in Scotland and returned a few weeks later with my husband for lunch - and he agreed the best chips !! We will be back!

I'm slightly perplexed by the very negative reviews here. I arrived at lunch and there were groups at four other tables all having lunch; all of them Hadrian's Wall walkers. Poor experience, visiting friends who live in the area, met with a cold reception at the bar, we asked if any tables were free, rudely said he couldn’t hear my friend, we ordered drinks and sat at a table, at any other welcoming place you’re asked if you are wanting food, however we weren’t really spoken to, we then sat down and my friend went to the bar for menus only to be told they couldn’t serve us food as they were too busy, I think 2 x tables were already eating their food, and another 2 x tables were reserved but not occupied, nor were they whilst we had our one drink (which I extremely begrudge paying for now), huh too busy, kind of reminded of that scene from American werewolf in London ‘there’s nothing for you here’. We were all really annoyed, bearing on my mind we had 2 yr old and 9yr old who were very hungry. Clearly don’t need the business, most unwelcome I’ve felt in a pub. I would perhaps recommend another line of work for the landlord as clearly speaking or dealing with the general public his not one of his skill sets….avoid.

Called in on a quiet Monday evening for dinner. The welcome was rather cold and the landlords persona rather sad and solemn. We got talking to a couple who, like us, lived in a nearby village and so had a nice time and thought maybe the landlord was just having an off day. The food was fine. Today, having been out with visiting friends for the day, we decided to stop for some food on our return home. The pub was half full, with only a couple of tables eating at the time. It was early doors, being 5pm and raining, so no one outside. Another cold welcome, we ordered some drinks at the bar and sat down at an empty table. Two were reserved. On returning to the bar to enquire about menus, the landlord told a young member of staff no food was available because they had 2 tables reserved. He didn't even have the decency to just tell us this himself. Nor ask when we first entered the pub and were ordering drinks whether our intention was to eat. No apology given either. My experience from other places are if they are rushed off their feet or not able to provide food, that they would be proactive when you order drinks to ask if your intention is to have a meal and let you know that either the kitchen is closed or that there will be a long wait if you are wanting food. I accept we hadn't booked, but it was early and the nearby Drover's Rest inn and King's Arms are always very accommodating, welcoming and will bend over backwards to fit you in for food when they are busy.....but the Greyhound wasn't even busy or full, or sorry that they couldn't seem to accommodate us. If they can't even cope with their limited number of tables on a wet day, then I dread to think what it would be like on a warm dry day, given the number of outdoor tables they have. Won't bother returning, we clearly aren't welcome anyway! Will stick to the other local establishments that give you a smile and act like they enjoy their jobs.
