The Queens Head is a traditional pub selling a good selection of reasonably priced food and drink. The staff are polite and attentive without being overbearing and the service is good. Food is freshly cooked and portions are generous.

Hats off to Max and Jess for the massive changes they've made to make the Queens Head a safe and comfortable place to be during these challenging times. The staff are welcoming and the food is still delicious pub meals with an excellent choice on the menu. Drinks are reasonable priced as is food. The garden has plenty of tables, well spaced out, and a brand new sheltered area with heaters.

Old fashioned village pub (adjoining church), serving properly kept “real ale”, tasty home cooked unpretentious grub, pleasant friendly staff and a welcome for “drop in” visitors as well as locals. Could hardly be bettered!

Tucked away down a small side road, next to the church, this pub isn't easy to find from the road. Good choice of ales on tab and a wide choice of pub grub. Food is freshly cooked with good portion sizes. Note food only served on certain days and times (check their website)

Went here for a lunchtime drink last week and as it was a nice day decided to go outside into the beer garden - wow what a transformation from the last time I ventured outside a couple of years ago. The garden is large enough and had a nice section to watch the football if required. It is also dog friendly. The service was excellent and all drinks were great. I’ll be back soon.

I've dined at the Queens Head regularly for many years and have never had a bad meal. The food is freshly cooked, delicious and very reasonably priced. The staff are pleasant and you don't have to wait too long for food. Would recommend anyone who likes home cooking to come and try the Queens Head.

Visited friends in Springfield, they had been recommended to go here so took us. Quaint little village , the pub would be missed easily if you didn’t know it was there, tucked behind a Church. Difficult to park outside but we found a space in the road nearby. Didn’t feel warmly greeted but a table had been reserved and we were asked to go and sit down. Nobody showed us to the table and you have to go to the bar to get your drinks. A young girl came and took our order - roasts were pork and chicken, a couple of veggie options and a home made steak and kidney pie. 3 courses are £10.95. Your starters are pate, soup and garlic bread. The soup was delicious as was the pate. Two of us had pork which was not great. One of the party didn’t get roast potatoes so we had to ask for them. A bowl of mixed vegetables which you serve yourselves to. Fairly busy, the place is old fashioned but the food was hot and edible. Wouldn’t rush back, it was just OK.

The Queens Head chooses to go for the "cheap and pile it high" option for the food it serves up. Such a shame when the village of Boreham has a quality butchers plus lots of local fruit and veg grown close by. The Landlady/cook does her best but don't expect too much. Mind you for under £8 for a main course I guess some will think it's good value. Try not to get a table in the "dining room" next to the ladies toilet or your meal will be permanently disrupted. There is a good selection of beers available. Best of all though is all is served begrudgingly. The pub is run by the most unwelcoming team I've ever met. Parking is fairly nonexistent. So many pubs closing across the UK. How long has this dinosaur got left? Essex has some great pubs please go support one of the great ones and leave this one to fester.

Visited with friends for a lazy Saturday afternoon. On entering, first impression was good. Old style wooden tables and chairs, cozy bar and popular with friendly locals. Bar staff attentive and friendly. Good range of beers and real ale. We ordered food from the sandwich menu which was tasty and reasonably priced. Daily meal specials also on offer. Will definitely return if in the area.

Have eaten here many times when visiting family nearby and the home cooked food with an ever changing specials board is excellent. Don't expect a fancy gastropub experience, the Queens is a local village pub with good pub food , large portions of tasty well cooked food . Took a large party there prior to my son's wedding and everyone really enjoyed it , great atmosphere ,very reasonable prices , everything a traditional pub should be !

Having pre-booked our food the owners said we would all get our food quickly and we did! It was a lively evening and the food was delicious. One thing we really liked was the fact that the vegetables were served in separate dishes and the gravy was very tasty. There was plenty on tap to drink plus wines. We put the road name in our sat nav so just drove a bit further and there it was next to the church.

The queens head is hard to find. Just by the church but sat nav doesn't really get close enough. Take the turning which looks like someone's drive and it's at the end.Great roast dinner and garlic bread. Dessert of crumble nice too. All for £10.95. Bargain. Service is good. This is a tradition old style pub. We liked it.

This gem of a pub is hidden away and long may it remain hard to find as it seems to do well from those in the know and with good reason. First and foremost it is a pub with two small bars and a garden. The beer is always good with constantly changing guest beers. This is no gastro pub but the food is home made and great value for money especially with what you can pay on the main Boreham road.

Food is homemade apparently however the quality of ingredients leaves a little to be desired. Very fatty meats, burnt spuds, lumpy gooey gravy, frozen starters. All four of us left our meals and then were given dirty looks by the landlady until we left. Wasn't made comfortable to stay for a drink. It's a shame there are no other drinking pubs in the village to show the owners how to treat their customers.

Had mid-week dinner here (note food not available Monday & Tuesday currently). Décor and ambiance is typical small country pub, you can feel the history in the place. Quite cosy inside, but friendly staff and usually a couple of guest ales on tap. Good pricing.

The locals are lovely but owners made us all feel very unwelcome. Wouldn't recommend to anyone who wants a laugh, you get told off for being too loud. Good choice of beers and food is average.Shame the land lady couldn't be polite and pleasant to anyone other than those she knows well. Monopoly of the area has given way to manners.

One of the few remaining ‘proper pubs’, visited for a Friday lunchtime casual drink with 4 old friends (all approaching 65), chose the Queens as pretty central for us and the other’s in the area are restaurants. We were all very glad we did, it was so nice to be in a proper traditional local pub with real ale’s, friendly jovial staff and locals who would chat and have a laugh with us, some of us had a meal, there were several options, I had ham egg and chips which was very nice and ample size for £6.50.We all came away thinking this is a good place for our reunions and intend going back (many times).

Tables too cramped together in a small snug. No decent wines, food basic and homemade which seems to attract locals, but lacked flavour and wow factor. When visiting the bar, it was off putting to have the 'tap room' in sight and hearing, very course, loud men mainly and bad language.

Visited with a friend for a few bottles of wine in the beer garden. It's everything you want from this type of pub. It has its little quirks and old English charm. It's clean and tidy with very friendly staff, on my next visit I'll definitely be trying the food it looked very good when it was being served.

Getting toward then close of food business, we turned up unannounced and asked if we could order. The helpful barman said we were welcome to order and so we did. The pub obviously prides its in good service and keeps a good stock of local beer too.Note: You need to be very alert to find the Queens Head. It is to the right of the Church if you stand in the road outside facing the church. Almost impossible to see from the road or on Google it is well worth searching out.

Have had several meals here now. Each one was a wholesome home cooked simple dish. They always seem to have a vegetarian option on the simple menu of about half a dozen choices. The restaurant part of the pub is quite small (about 30 covers). A very friendly and accommodating staff. Difficult to find, is up a tiny lane to the left of the church in a picturesque location in the old village.Well worth a village.

This is a charming little pub off the beaten track in Boreham next to the village church. The staff are friendly and welcoming. We had eaten here before during the week and thoroughly enjoyed our homecooked lunch of chicken and ham pie with lovely chips and salad. However, we were very disappointed to eat here on a Sunday. The menu was very limited, but did include several choices of roast dinner. The main course was okay, and that's about as best as I can say. Dessert was a real cheek - £3.95 for 4 small profiteroles, the same price for three small scoops of uninspiring basic ice cream. I could forgive the mediocre food but the prices were certainly not what I would expect to pay for that standard of cooking.

We were staying in the hotel and this was the night of the Queen's funeral so we decided to 'eat in'. They only had one chef in the kitchen so it took a long time for our meals to appear. They did warn us when we sat down but it would have been nice to be told when we booked the table when we checked in. Food was nothing special but nothing to complain about either.

In area looking at antiques, decided to stop here for light lunch. Dissapointed to find that a Tea Room served our hot drinks in takeout cups and sandwiches on paper plates with plastic knives & forks. The menu sandwich choice read Thick hand cut Wiltshire ham, the sandwich turned up with one slice of thin cut ham. Sausage roll was cooked in microwave so pastry was soggy and a toasted tuna sandwich was not edible. Awful lunch! Addressed our complaint to the staff, was refunded back the Tuna sandwich. Doubtful we will rush back.

Chelmsford the place to eat. Arrived today to see 4 partners chatting behind the counter . I asked one of them I could have x2 pieces of cake from underneath the glass cover, only to be told “it’s self service”. I appreciate that but I am 78 years of age with a health condition and am unable to lift heavy items. I was eventually assisted. There was no breakfast tea on the counter so I was sent to another counter where there was also none to be had. Reluctantly a member of staff found one for me. Not really the best customer experience, unlike the partner in the Christmas department who went over and above to help escorting me to another department to assist me. Come on John Lewis you need to do better.
