i’ve been going to clubs for years and had the worst experience here last night. They had a table/ booth of three men that were trying to pressure me into drinking their drinks (i didn’t after much back and forth), and also tried forcing themselves on me and touching me. Luckily my friends boyfriend had noticed by this point and got me out the situation. i reported this to the security outdoors and their response was “i know”. Assuming this was not their first report of them men that night but continue to let them in and serve them assuming this is because they had a table and were buying bottles so making too much money from them to kick them out and whilst doing so putting woman’s safety at risk as i have no idea what would’ve happened to me if my friends boyfriend hadn’t clocked the situation. Honestly been here many of times no issues but this is shameful and i will never be going there ever again

Bouncers are complete tossers they obviously have an ego to live up to or got bullied in school I recently had knee surgery so need to sit down every now and again , I sat down for 5 mins to rest my knee n before I know it I’m getting dragged out of the place All I see is them throwing people about for the smallest reasons Would love to see em get a good hiding to knock ‘em back down to earth

One of the worst club ever , very rude staff and raciest , I spend £100 and get worst experience, no respect .

Connor was on his own at the bar when we arrived at around 5pm up until 7:30, he is a brilliant bar guy and served us drinks amazingly well and he have amazing manners, he deserve a pay rise!!

Came here tonight and first told two workers about broken glass on the floor which neither did anything about despite people nearby getting glass in their shoes - then a boy got escorted out for being too drunk ( that is fine in itself ) but a bouncer proceeded to kick him down the stairs to get out consequently making him stressed and then being taken by police - my issue here is how the staff are dealing with drunk people ( at a club ) sure it is probably stressful with the large amount of drunk people but they really don’t know how to calm a situation down and one worker, whilst I can’t give a name made the situation much worse

Being in my late 30's it's always an experience going to a club. Music was good and alot of songs from younger me times! It seemed like beer is quite expensive here compared to spirits. I don't drink beer but I feel £5 for a bottle is a bit steep? If you go in during the busier times you have to pay to get in (£7 at time of writing). This also has one thing that will never change about clubs... Sticky floors. I was with a group of people mixed aged so if it was me I probably wouldn't choose to go here purely due to paying to get in.

bouncers were very rude and unwelcoming, didn’t allow refund on tickets unless a death certificate was shown. ridiculous.

This place is Awful and has not trained the bouncers at the door how to greet the customers because of whom probably they are getting their salaries from.I and my friends visited this place last night , we forgot our ids so we went home and got the Ids and when went inside.While going inside my friend guy friend was carrying a man bag was told that he’s not allowed to get the bag inside when we asked him for a reason for the same he didn’t answer any thing but at the same time I was allowed with my lady bag in there.We offered him if he can check his bag and allow him inside then but he insisted us to go back hide your man bag inside and then you can enter which is so disrespectful and bad.Then we went inside enjoyed our selves so by the end of time we were leaving the same bouncer who let us in started abusing and assaulting us when we said don’t touch he said “I’ll show you what I can do and even touch you”.He pushed me badly and grabbed my friend’s arm and dragged him out of the club.This incident has shocked me from inside out that what kind of Racist and sexist behaviour is this.For the first time in my life I have seen such heartless behaviour inside a club this is not even human.If a women can get a purse that’s allowed and man cannot isn’t this unfair and sexiest ?? We group of people spent almost 300 pounds in this club and this club gave us a very hard time, forget the service they can’t even match the basic standards on even humanitarian grounds or any place if compared.People who wants to have a good quality time “PLEASE AVOID Going to this bar as this is beyond the expectations of insults and sexism and racism you’ll face in your entire life”.I would never visit this place again and never recommend to my friends.

Low class staff, poor service, low level security, poor service, bad atmosphere, bad food, dirty drinks.

It's a very bad shop. There is discrimination based on gender and skin color. The service staff sucks and most importantly, the security guards have very bad behavior. The store was very dirty and smelly. And there are people doing drugs in the bathroom.

Can be pricy depending on the night but music can be quite good. The area is big and u can vape throughout.

Had to write another Review on my second account to add to the fact that we just found a purple bruise on my friends arm that was caused by the bouncer pushing her, totally unprofessional

Awful Bouncer a bald headed man I walked past him as there was another bouncer by the desk I was going to until he forcefully grabbed me pushed me back harsh fully and told me I was not allowed entry anymore as I walked straight past him.

Bad experience getting in when the bouncer was calling us rude and inappropriate words which we shared within our group, service within the bar was okay apart from the security team when one of my friends was approached and asked to leave after having an argument with a bartender who was forcing her to buy a shot off the shot tray which she didn’t want in the first place, after getting kicked out the bouncer was extremely rude and grabbed me by the arm and pushed me nearly knocking me off my feet, the bouncers on this night need to get sacked in my opinion as I am not happy at all with the service and the bouncers attitude

Honestly a terrible experience tonight, I’m a usual customer at bar and beyond but tonight this has been the worst experience and the last experience there, firstly the bouncers seemed moody and angry upon entering as well as the bar staff and the people serving shots within the bar, the DJ however was very good as well as the drinks. One problem I had was a young dodgy boy stalker follow me for an hour and after asking security for help they ignored my request, I have never felt so alone and scared in my life of being a single mom and was scared to leave the club without my friend who was also harassed and shouted at by the bouncers on the way out of the club as she was too drunk and knocked a pole slightly and was told to “act her age” and “be a real woman”, I am shocked and never entering that place again.

I told the manager of bar and beyond that I had asthma and he said explicitly “that I could either go to the smoking area or go home” and since I had a hard time breathing next to the vast amounts of vaping I asked to stand approximately 5m away from the smoking area and I was denied. When I asked for managers names I was also completely ignored. I meant no disrespect and I was completely and utterly treated like an animal even though I tried my hardest to be reasonable with the bouncers and my respiratory problem.

Samsa is a bad man he was rude to my girlfriend 👎 both used to work there. Never trust the guy, flirts with all the shot girls, when we were sitting on the benches outside he shouted at us, my girlfriend as a woman was traumatised by it, so unprofessional

Me and my friends decided to go clubbing this night, only for a guy with brown long hair. Start looking at me make feel come uncomfortably. He passed me and grabs my ass what kind a staff is that. Me and my friends are not coming back.

As bars go its ok. Good selection of drinks. Service could be better and at times painfully slow but staff were happy enough.

The worst music yet in a club that I’ve been to. Music from like 2009 and all the cheesy pop songs which I liked when I was about 5. If they just got a decent dj like acanteen it would be such a vibe. But as this is one of the only places open late in Chelmsford, we don’t have much option. Entry is £7.50 and I hate having to pay that for a kids dj set.

Ordered from epic chicken on derliveroo which is inside bar and beyond and what can I say absolutely lovely food portion sizes are really good, the burgers are as big and tasty as the images and the kids loves the wings. Chips are also so nice lots of flavour from the seasoning on the. Deffo be ordering from here/going to eat in here again.

Lovely venue great decorations and lighting, staff were all lovely and cocktails were good for price! Only damper on the evening was the dj, which was terrible and missed the countdown after accidentally doing it too early, please don't hire him again!

Really disappointed, the doorman stopped my friends son from going in just because he's in the army. He had done nothing but drop his waller which revealed his army I'd. Disgraceful.

I went here with my friends for my 20th birthday, I had trouble booking a table so Corrina was really really helpful and managed to get me one last minute, staff were lovely and service was quick. I had a really good time!!

All I can say is read the reviews before considering visiting this venue, as the multiple negative reviews are clear evidence that this venue has real problems and is consistently upsetting its paying customers, so really should be avoided!! In my experience the rude, disrespectful, patronising and very sexist doorstaff are clearly treating their jobs as a joke and a power trip to to impress each other!  If they want jobs working with the general public they should learn some basic manners and not judge or speak to people like they're idiots, without even knowing them! We were dressed for the occasion and travelled to Chelmsford to solely visit this venue for out first night out clubbing since lockdown.  However, we were turned away at the door because we had small (smart) versace man bags (which we carry our wallets and keys in).  As if that wasn't ridiculous enough the doorstaff then preceeded to tell us to "go hide your bags in a bush somewhere them come back".   I decided to raise a formal written complaint, as that behaviour is unacceptable and I thought the Management should ge made aware of how its staff treated its paying customers.  I also to enquired, if woman are turned away for carrying handbands.  Lauren the General Manager responded to say "we operate a search policy inside, and your bags could have been searched, and asked to check inside our cloakroom rather than dismiss entry.   As for a member of staff suggesting that it should be hidden in a bush, this is not acceptable and they will be spoken to"  Lauren went on to offer to put us on the guest list and have a que jump for fast entry (there was no que when we visited) but I responded to say; as our evening was wasted and we had paid travel fares etc to visit the venue, would she be prepared to include a few complimentary drinks, needless to say I heard no more!!!  A few complimentary drinks for all the upset caused, our wasted evening, the expenses incurred and the disgusting behaviour we experienced is the very least they could do.  I hope this review saves others a wasted night out!

Chelmsford bar and beyond security guys is the rudest ppl I ever see. Ppl going out for fun and enjoy Saturday night and security guys treat ppl like an animal. No one deserves insult or staf like that some have to do something for it

Bar staff were lovely however I will not be visiting again due to the disrespectful bouncers/ doormen/lady. They were incredibly rude and patronising as well as hypocritical. Despite us politley showing the dress code displayed on the official Instagram that day, which had no mention of sports logo t-shirts, they denied us entry. After paying for multiple taxi’s home to change we were allowed in only to see another boy in the club wearing the same branded t shirt we we’re refused entry for. I understand strict dress codes however this requirement was not displayed online and the way the bouncers went about it after we respectfully tried to sort the situation was so rude and upsetting. Inside the bar is great however it’s the door people that let this place down.

Very good place. The party was very good when I was there. Absolutely no one made us feel like we were foreigners. Thanks to the owner for having such a good team.

Great place for pizza and drinks! Accommodated our gluten free friends with no fuss and refilled our Prosecco very quickly!! Great value for money and Hannah is a brilliant fun waitress! She made us feel right at home and was a lot of fun would recommend!

A group of 5 of us (4 girls 1 boy) were denied access because the bouncer said there were no tables and only bookings were allowed in (we knew lots of tables were available as we knew people in there). Regardless we walked away. BUT THEN the group of 5 behind us (5 girls) were allowed straight in without being questioned and without a booking. Little did the bouncer know, the other group of 5 was with us. I walked straight up to the entrance after seeing them being allowed in and asked my mates and the bouncer how they were allowed in and we weren’t! The bouncer looked the other way and my mates walked out after discovering we weren’t allowed in. We came to the conclusion that it was because we had a boy with us. We all went to Pop World instead where the security were actually nice, not rude and told the truth.

Thank you to all staff, especially Matt! We had confusion over happy hour as they were still advertising the promotion. He explained that he had noticed the problem and the solution was being fixed, he offered us a round of drinks as a way to make up for it. All the staff were very helpful, polite and enthusiastic, thank you to everyone at bar and beyond!

Had an evening in B&B on Saturday. Despite Covid issues we were given a booth and had table service. Whilst the place was pretty empty, we still had a good night and the staff were awesome, couldn't do enough for us (especially Sky - she was a awesome waitress). In the circumstances the bar did everything they could to entertain their guests. Was a great evening. Well done B&B staff!

We were out in Chelmsford for the night and wanted new places to try, we came across Bar and Beyond which was recommended to me and were taken back by how cool the inside of the building was. When you first walk in, you don't expect the back part of the bar to be how it is! It opens up into an old theatre style venue, very cool!Music was varied, but also the DJ wouldn't play a song in full, he kept skipping to the next within a minute (if that) of it playing.. that was quite annoying. However, we quite enjoyed our first time in there.

Great place for cocktails and food. Nice staff,very efficient and quico, good music too! Will repeat!

Great night out, great staff, happy hour from 5-10pm on everything, even cocktails and bottles of spirits makes sure the night starts off well. Booked a VIP booth and the sales team were amazing and the deals are great value for money. Like that you can have your own table for the night for resting your feet after dancing for hours. Door staff have always been friendly and seem very professional. Cant wait for my next visit.

I never leave Bar & Beyond disappointed! The music is fab, the drinks are reasonably priced, always receive incredible service and they have an amazing selection of cocktails! Also always have a great experience when booking a VIP booth :) Would 100% recommend coming here whether you are looking for after work drinks during the week or a great night out on the weekend

Great prices and a huge venue!! I come here regularly - and always love to get VIP!!! It definitely makes the experience amazing having my own space to rest my drinks! My favourite booths are the Pony Shoes! Great prices on drinks - half price from 5-10 - that includes on bottles! Which is why I like to preorder them with a table! I’ve never had a bad night here and all of the bouncers are so lovely and helpful! As are the bar staff and waitresses!! Such a lovely team where I feel safe!

Place needs renovation and the music over there is really bad.They need to get a new DJ.Tve play the same song every time.

It's a shame as the actual place is a good bar and club. The security and bouncers ruin the experience, as many people have also voiced below. They're rude, discriminating and assault people. They wouldn't let us in because of our shoes and after talking about it for a while one of the bouncers decides to punch one of us in the face for no apparent reason. They even called other bars and told them not to let us in as apparently our reaction is unexpected after punching someone in the face.

I went in there, soon realised my friend left his ID in my car, I went to the smoking area to give him my keys, when he gave them back I was going to meet my friend by the entrance, considering I was already in the club, the bouncer grabs me tells me to pay again because he thought I had skipped the fee,I tried to show him the bank transfer on my phone but he thought I have him attitude and wouldn't let me in, the lady bouncer tried to defend me saying he she did see me come in, but the dude wasn't having it, please Bar and Beyond, sort out your bouncers

Great night out with friends, been there three times, each time it has been fun. Highly recommend for evening out.

Booked our NYE event with Grace and whilst we're yet to attend (I'm sure it'll be great), if the customer service is anything to go by then we should be in for one amazing night! Grace helped with EVERYTHING no matter how silly I thought my questions were, sorted us booth, drink packages, queue jump and even cloakroom passes. I'm sure a club this size receives a lot of attention without even trying but Grace made me feel like a valued customer and went above and beyond for us!

I booked with Grace and she was amazing, so helpful and accommodating, I can’t wait to visit on Nye I’m sure it’s going to be wonderful

We were booked in here (a group of 12) for a hen do, which was pre booked AND paid for, with most of us also buying drinks beforehand. When we arrived, we were told it was a strictly over 18s venue, and we were not pre advised of this when booking. We are not from the area so obviously we booked ahead of our visit. At no no point was it mentioned that 1) it was over 18s and 2) ID was compulsory. Even some of our group who didn't bring I'd would have been refused even though clearly they are over the age of 18. Because we pre-booked and prepaid, we asked for all of our money back so we could go elsewhere for food, and we were promptly refused, and advised to contact the bank and attempt a refund from them. The manager was "sick in the office" and refused several requests to come and speak to us regarding this situation. I was getting irate so I removed myself from the situation and left the hen do organiser to deal with the situation, but whilst I was there I felt this was an extremely unprofessional response to the situation (no I'm sorry the manager cannot come and see you because he's sick, you'll have to call head office tomorrow) excuse me no, get your manager now you have hundreds of our pounds and will not provide the food and drinks we have paid for!!!!

1/2 price drinks between 5 and 10. Nice venue. Huge dance area at the rear. Good music. 5 star. Highly recommended

A Modern bar and club with excellent bar staff always friendly and attentived .Half price drinks from 5.00pm -10.00pm everyday. After 10.00pm drinks are the same price as the other city bars and clubs. Pizza Burgers on the menu with a big choice of things I think its one of the to share. In my opinion one of the best bar in the city.

We went to Bar and Beyond at around 8pm on a Saturday. It had a good vibe, drinks were half price, the night was off to a good start. You could see the place was going to come alive when the "club" section opened at 10pm. The crowd in there was mixed, trending late 20s if I had to venture a guess. The DJ was dropping some bangers, everyone was starting to get the taste for the music. However around 11pm things took a turn for the worse. In poured various teenagers, not a facial hair between them. Knee length coats fully zipped up, the heat was Sahara Desert level but these scrotes wouldn't be deterred. Apparently tying sweatshirts round your neck is a new trend as well as fully zipped up Michelin man coats. It looked like someone was filming Top Boy season 4 only with white kids from Chelmsford. Man bags were spotted, Moncler and Canada Goose galore. Someone was smoking Brian Clough in the smoking area. I'm sure a few of the lads were "sipping lean" in between sending hourly check ins to mum and dad. There was a guy who looked like El Hadj Diouf, he was alright and didn't spit at anyone. I left around midnight as the testosterone level was clouding the air, these lads were out to prove how hard they were by aggressively dancing with their fingers pointed. We left to go to Be At One, I'd suggest staying for the 50 per cent drinks here until 22.00 then going somewhere that doesn't look like GCSE results day in Moscow.

If I could I would of gave zero stars!!! What an absolute mess of a place. The bouncers was obviously bullied at school hence the reason why the think it’s acceptable to all jump on one man! I also witnessed a male bouncer chuck a woman to the floor. Disgusting place avoid at all costs!!!!!

was really excited about going to bar and beyond for my 18th birthday, however was BEYOND disappointed, bouncers and staff were so rude and unhelpful. One of our friends was quite drunk and was not allowed in, so they turned down the whole group of us (20), and even called another night club to tell them not to let us in. They were so so rude on the door, probably due to our age which is disgraceful. We’d already paid for a booth and a lot of drink which was way too expensive, and wasn’t even allowed access to it. When a couple of us got let in, we went over to our booth to find another group in there drinking our alcohol!!!! fuming, absolute waste of time and money. had to pay for transport and ruined my birthday. choose another nightclub if you want to have a good time.

Had my hen night at bar and beyond and it was absolutely amazing. 10 of us were booked on a cocktail making class which was brilliant. The staff were attentive, informative and very good natured. I would highly recommend a night out here, especially the cocktail making.

We were a ‘slightly older than average’ party of five booked in for the cocktail making class. I was slightly dubious about booking it for my colleague who was retiring, but I can honestly say it was the best decision! Aidan our bar tender and teacher for the evening was a lovely guy and made the whole experience great fun. We then moved to a booth where we stayed for the rest of the night. As the evening wore on the music got louder and the clientele younger but this was not a problem for us at all and we danced our way through the evening with many younger people dancing along with us. We did not feel out of place at all and all the staff at the venue were all very pleasant and accommodating. In addition the food was surprisingly good for somewhere like this. As long as you go, knowing what to expect from the club part of the evening then you will not be disappointed. I can’t recommend the cocktail making class enough for something a little different and fun. Thank you Bar & Beyond for a great night

Came here for my daughters hen do yesterday evening. Firstly we would like to thank the doorman who was wonderful and so welcoming. And when we left he provide us with an umbrella and walked us round to the taxi rank, and also kept an eye on my daughter till she left with her friends. I don't know his name but he will know. we found the whole experience great fun and a great vibe with everyone in there. Thank you for making my daughters hen night so enjoyable.

What a dump... I doubt many people would go in without the half price drinks before 10... if you want to drink out of recycled baked bean tins then this is the place for you!! I asked for a glass and got treated appallingly by the bar staff!!!

Awful service on security! I have been an attender of Bar and Beyond for a year and a half now, and being in my local town centre it has always been convenient for myself. However, the security and bouncers within the place need a good solid look at themselves and a re-evaluation by the manager there (although the manager seems comfortable to maintain staff that aren’t adequate or up to the job whatsoever from my viewpoint) I was kicked out of Bar and Beyond Chelmsford for opening a toilet door “too harshly” and the bouncer on the other side of the door was in no doubt sure to kick me out and ensure all door staff wouldn’t let me in. This is frankly appalling from a customer / guest perspective of the club itself, considering I have always been in there every other weekend almost. It may also be worth considering that I have visited multiple clubs in London, from east to central to west, all ranging from good to bad, and I can honestly say I have never been genuinely appalled by any security staff / bouncer service until tonight, in my own town centre. If I were reading this, I would take a good consideration as to other clubs within the Chelmsford area that offer an equally as good night inside but with a much more friendly, acceptable set of security staff on the door that still do their job. I hope that people reading this consider this as worthwhile, and also that the staff currently working at Bar and Beyond can really, truly validate a reason as to why I was kicked out and why they are allowing people to remain in their club boundaries who are mortally drunk and vomiting everywhere, as well as causing violence within the club itself. I have absolutely no issue with this review being dealt with further, in fact I would be very happy to argue my side of the incident and fully explain the quite frankly shocking customer derived I experienced with this place, that I will never return to again.

I went with friends on a Saturday evening as it was suggested they offer 2 for 1 drinks they do however you have to endure the terrible decor and diginess of the place. its not for me however a younger person can probably see past the decor and loud music.
