Been hearing and seeing the food for far to long and wasn’t disappointed. Fabulous portions, fabulous fresh food, Yorkshire puddings like you only see on the telly. Congratulations to Simon, the chef and his staff. If there’s a better Sunday dinner locally or in the region, I’d like to go. Food at the right price and lovely mixed atmosphere of drinkers and dinners. Open fire roaring away. ….. is it Sunday yet.

The Queens Head is exceptional! The menu is excellent, traditional, rustic food that hits the spot. I had chicken and ham pie and I couldn’t fault it! The vegetables were cooked perfectly and the presentation was done with such care and attention to detail. The staff were lovely and looked after us very well indeed. Can’t recommend our lovely village pub enough, oh and the atmosphere was buzzing!

Once again the food and service were stunning. The quality of the food and the cooking takes some beating. The only possible complaint could be that the portions are too generous but who could complain about that!!

Wowsers one heck of a Sunday lunch First time visiting the Queens Head for Sunday lunch and it was just wonderful. Absolutely top quality, the roast beef was so tender, a generous side of cauliflower cheese to die for and a top Yorkshire pudding accompanied with seasonal veg and all having immense flavour. If you love your Sunday lunch you’re in for a treat. Definitely leave room for a pudding too they were very yummy. The best Sunday lunch in town by far can’t wait to visit again soon.

Met some friends for Sunday lunch and we were all pleasantly surprised. None of the other diners had been before but I’d been a year or so ago and found the food average at best. They have a new Head Chef there and she has done a wonderful job with the menu. It’s affordable too, I think it was £18.50 for a Belly Pork Sunday Roast which includes cauliflower cheese - other places we visit charge extra for this. A good all rounder which we’ll be visiting again soon 👍🏼

I heard great things about The Queens Head, particularly for their roast dinner - it certainly did not disappoint. We were really well looked after (even after turning up 30 mins late for our table - so sorry again about that!) and the table that my friend and I were sat at was great too. I ordered the pork roast & my pal ordered the S&P squid followed by the roast beef - we both walked away very full & saying the same thing - that was possibly the best roast dinner we have eaten out! The portion sizes were ample, everything seasoned perfectly and great flavours with each element. I mentioned when I booked the table that I was Gluten Free - the Yorkshire pudding and cauli cheese was amended accordingly which was a lovely surprise as you usually just dont get them on your plate at all - so thank you very much for that! All in all a great roast & will 100% be returning.

I love this pub - great atmosphere, good food and a range of beers but why are the portions of the vegetarian dishes so, so small? People who were eating meat had a decent plate of food, which looked good and filled a hole. I had a veggie pasta dish and I had five pieces of pasta. It was tasty but was more like a starter. I went home hungry. Disappointed given the great service this pub usually gives.

Just had the most perfect Sunday dinner here. Everything was just amazing. Delicious food....kind of gourmet pub grub, beautifully presented, decent portions and cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced yet expensive enough to justify the quality ingredients, even the side dish of vegetables was cooked to perfection and great quality produce. The beef was perfectly cooked, with a massive yorkshire pud, just enough gravy on the side....it was a wonderful plate of food. Puddings were equally impressive, wonderful sticky toffee pud, a decent chunky creme brulee and a very nice choc and pecan tart. Staff are amazingly friendly and helpful and the decor and atmosphere is smart and stylish. Great range of beers and we had a lovely bottle of shiraz that was reasonably priced. Haven't had such a good Sunday dinner in a long time...will be back soon! Good and reasonable kids menu too.

Walked down to the village pub with my elderly mother in law to try and support our local pub, but when we got there we were told that there had been a power cut and they had emailed us. Strange as they didn’t have our email address, They did have our phone number, but no attempt had been made to call us. Also strange that the outside lights appeared to be working perfectly, the chippy next door working fine and no evidence elsewhere of power cut. Maybe a cynic but as they then shut their doors assume we were the only customers and they had decided not to open. Would have been nice if they had actually tried to contact us, Won’t be bothering again.

So every week during the government 50% of scheme we have been going out and supporting local businesses. This week we went to the Queens Head in Burley in Whafedale! Naively we didn't ask if they were participating. Pizza was ok, bit burnt around the edges. When the bill arrived there was no discount? We asked the waitress if they were not participating in the scheme, her reply was no as we don't open on a Monday or Tuesday. Is that my problem No! Would we go out and spend £75 on pizza on a Wednesday night No! They claim the money back from the government so they don't loose a penny. Well they have lost my custom in the future! Shame on you....

Is not often I feel compelled to write a terrible review, in fortunately this is one of those occasions... I’m not sure I’ve ever left a restaurant so angry and disappointed. We booked a family meal, the service was very slow and not once were we asked if we wanted additional drinks which meant we were constantly having to catch the servers attention... very annoying!Starters arrived an hour after we ordered them, only half of the group ordered starters. These came at the same time as the children’s mains which we were advised to do as the mains for adults were due shortly afterwards. One and a held hours later the mains arrived, fish that was cooked 3 times by the look of it, pies that were not homemade and a couple of very sad looking burgers. None of the group are there meal in full. Upon complaining the manager did knock some money off however he did roll his eyes and fire back with a sarcastic comment at which point I lost my temper and had to walk away. On a positive note they do have some great beers available... but I won’t be back which is a shame as I loved the place before it was refurbished.

Drinks arrived fine , we ordered our food and then waited 1 hour 30 mins for starters . Food was poor , then we waited another hour for mains . Burger was supposed to be in brioche bun not! Was in normal bread cake , hair in vegetarian roast , told waitress she took meal away . She came back and informed us that the chef had said it was not their hairs as they don’t have long hair must be the manufacturer . What is manufactured in vegetarian roast!!! Children’s meals tiny asked for more chips as kids still hungry waited 40 mins . All food out of freezer or fridge not fresh . Very expensive for substandard food . Really disappointing poor poor service. Awful staff . Avoid . Eat at coop if hungry not here.

A real shame - we visited today for a belated 70th birthday celebration for my Dad. The experience was poor at best. Waited an hour for starters to arrive, then a further hour and a half before mains arrived. I ordered the veggie Sunday Roast which arrived luke warm and I found a hair in it. On complaining I was told that this couldn’t belong to any of the chefs and it must have been from the manufacturer. Sometimes better just to own the mistake and apologise.Everyone’s food was sub standard and the children’s meals were so tiny we had to order more... especially given the wait. The best bit was nice surroundings and very polite and friendly waiting staff, who were left with a tough job containing complaints about a clearly overwhelmed kitchen. We did get some money off but it unfortunately ruined the celebration. We actually left and got dessert from the coop to take home. Wouldn’t recommend which is a real shame in this gem of a location.

A bit disappointing really. I want 2 things from the ideal pub, lots of real ales with an Auto-vac system, and good food. I'd heard this place was refurbished and hoped I might score on both fronts. The interior looks very smart and we settled into a comfortable circular bay. Unfortunately the 6 pumps were only offering 2 ales, Yorkshire Brunette or Black Sheep. I tried both but neither were pulled as I'd hoped. The auto-vac allows the barman to pull the pint with a lot more energy creating a tighter creamier head. Unfortunately, this didn't happen with either pint, despite me specifically asking for it on the second pint. The food was "OK". I would really appreciate more veggie options. My wife had the Superfood salad which she felt was bland. I had the fish pie which was again, OK but nothing 'delicious' as per other reviews. The sauce for the fish could have been a great deal tastier. I will keep an eye on menu changes and give it another go and hope this might have been a blip.

Myself and my partner stumbled upon this little find whilst visiting some family nearby and we are so glad we did! The place was very busy and we were sat very quickly even though we didn't book a table. I ordered the chicken stuffed with haggis which was beautifully cooked and very filling, whilst my partner had a steak which was cooked exactly how he likes it. For dessert, we shared a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which was easily one of the best I have ever had, so much so that I shouldn't have shared! We will definitely be returning when back in the area, well done The Queens Head!

I ordered a chicken dish with Haggis which had been highlighted as a dish that could be made Gluten free. I questioned it when it came stuffed with Haggis and was told it was GF. I told them it can't be and someone else came and said it was fine as did not contain wheat, only Barley! It is essential when serving food that everyone involved has a clear understanding of allergens.

food not the best and not the worst, prices are ridiculous, was charged £6 for 2 cans of Barr lemonade and at Asda down the road i can purchase 24 cans for £7. Food wasnt the best, i wont be rushing to get back there too soon!

+ Walton View Hotel looks nice from outside and inside. + Food was outsourced from my Lahore for Asian wedding was very tasty + The service was quick and reliable - The overflow parking should be surfaced and parking bays made clear - lighting is required in overflow parking areas - the location of the stage should be in such a place that it can be seen from every seat in the dining hall.

Where to start really. I have, on and off been coming to the Grouse for over 20 years. The food and service has always been spot on. 5* no doubt. We have recently been to the Grouse on a few occasions and the service seems to have nosedived quite a lot. There seems to be a choice from the waiting staff (not sure if this is something management have told them to do) that when we have finished our drinks, nobody comes to ask if we want anymore. This has happened now the last two times we've been. Over 30 minutes go by and we have to ask. Clearance of the tables is extremely poor. New drinks came and they just left the old glasses. We had to clear them away again. There was a table of 7 of us, we only ordered a main each and we were waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes for the food to come. We would've ordered a dessert but we honestly didn't have the time in the end up. I could understand it been slow if the place was packed out like it usually is but it was relatively quiet while we were there. As the Grouse is very local to us, we will give it another go and hopefully the service can improve. My friend has told me this morning that they went a few weeks ago and experienced the same service, but the food was great. Thank you.

These were the worst fish & chips I have ever had cold chips, thick soggy batter.

We recently organised a company event over two days at the Wheatly Arms. We were really impressed with the level of service we received, from the initial booking of the venue to the helpful service over the course of two days, ensuring everything ran smoothly. We were also very happy with the choice and standard of food and rooms too. We wouldn’t hesitate to use the hotel again for corporate events and meetings and thank all management and staff for their attentiveness.
