Excellent food. We hadn’t read reviews and just popped in for lunch. Unexpectedly delicious and generous meals. I ate dish of the day belly pork. It was actually a roast dinner served with Yorkshire pudding, stuffing, mashed and roast potatoes, and perfectly cooked fresh vegetables- carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, and lashings of gravy. I should probably have requested the small portion. My companion had vegetable lasagna which came with garlic bread, salad and the biggest chips we’d ever seen. Not somewhere to visit for the ambience, but for wholesome food at very fair prices it is highly recommended.

Food was very good and excellent value. The furnishings were worn and in need of replacing and, it was so cold, everyone kept their coats on - even the person serving behind the bar.

Visited for birthday meal. Lovely food. Good menu choice at good prices. Staff were friendly. Clean pub. Came with intentions of having afternoon tea but this didn't happen as wasn't sure if we had to book and it wasn't on the lunch menu. Pub not very accessible and was extremely warm inside in the heat. Great choice of drinks available. Easier exit as went out the back through the small beer garden were there was a ramp. Would recommend to others but wouldn't return myself as it wasn't suitable for our needs. Also toilets were clean (and refreshing in the heat!)

Went with a group of 20 for afternoon tea. It was absolutely excellent and the selection of savoury and sweet items was superb. Warm scones included! Endless amounts of tea or coffee and a doggie bag needed as only the very largest appetites could eat the lot. Excellent value too.

Stopped here for a drink, decided on the coffee/tea and scone/cake for £4 offer. Walked inside to be greated by the most miserable lady behind the bar who wouldn't be out of place at Karen's diner! I asked what type of cakes were on offer with the deal and was given the answer "looks like chocolate cake and maybe coffee cake, I don't know" As I don't drink hot drinks I asked if the hot drink could be replaced by a cold drink, nothing expensive, just a cordial and water, the reply "no!" Needless to say I won't be coming back or recommending this place, I don't want to be served by rude staff who don't know what goods they are selling and cant offer a little bit of flexibility to their customers. Oh and if you want cream and jam with the scone that's extra! Plenty of other nice places in Beverley avoid this one.

Booked for sunday lunch after having wonderfull fish and chips on friday. The visit was off from the start, table booked , they dont tell you to order your carvery from the bar. Its all put on the plate, the only choice is the meat, . The food tepid only the gravy was hot , therest eas warm ish. The lady who was dishing up the food asked if anything was wrong as we had pushed the plates to the side , she offered to reheat them or we could order from the menu cooed in the kitchen. Settled for the homemade steak pie, it came out cremated from the microwave the meat was black and dry, pastry as hard as a rock. Hit and miss, fish and chips for 2 was amazing, everthing else food wise poor.

Called in a few times during our little break in Beverley last week. Nice, proper pub and very busy when we were there. Drinks reasonably priced. Sadly no time to eat but the food we saw being brought out looked good. Special mention to one of the bar staff ...think his name was Ian. Really nice friendly guy who quickly sorted out a little issue I had with a pint of Carling not tasting quite right as my next one was ok and out of the same pump/barrel. I think it was the glass rather than the beer itself. All the bar staff were nice to be fair. If you like a proper pub with no fannying, this would be my go to if I lived here.

We were looking for a pre-theatre meal and came to this ‘pub with grub’ as we had previously spotted that it served meals and the menu looked good enough for us to have plenty to choose from at reasonable prices. In the end, my wife chose the Haddock with Chips and peas and I chose the Prawn with Marie Rose Sauce. My wife’s battered haddock was also served with a slice of buttered bread. My salad included grated cheese, pickled onions and coleslaw along with the salad leaves, beetroot, cucumber and tomato. It also had warm crusty bread and a pasta salad alongside. (I didn’t try the pasta salad as there was enough else on the plate that was actually close to overflowing the edges.) My meal and the accompanying beer were excellent and so was my wife’s cider. However, my wife’s haddock was a sorry excuse for a meal. The chips and pies that accompanied the fish were excellent but the fish itself was overcooked, very chewy and stuck to the batter that was itself very dark in hue. We noticed that the specials board had advertised two haddock and chips for £10 as special for the night before we ate. The impression given by the fish was that it had had been cooked for the night before and then re-heated to be served to her. If that was not the case, then the cook seriously misjudged the time for the fish needing frying – either way, it was well overcooked. By the time we worked this out, it was too late to complain and get something else to eat, so my wife just ate what she could and left the rest.

It is possible to order some of the choices at normal or small size. Hubby had the normal, which was generous and my small was ample. The food was hot, tasty and very enjoyable. On November 18th My husband and I visited Beverley on a coach trip. We saw this pub and thought it looked good but it was packed out so we walked out. We gave it about ten minutes and walked in again and we were so glad we did as we found a table. The carvery was excellent with good portions. I asked for more gravy and was given a large jug full. I would recommend waiting for a table in which seemed to be a very popular place to eat, with friendly staff too.

Stuck a pin in a ( google) map to find a breakfast one hour away from leaving holiday accommodation. What a find. Interesting decor showed off the home made cakes and savouries whilst we waited a few minutes for a table. Breakfast avocado with poached eggs on sourdough bread, sun dried tomatoes, chorizo and pea shoots was divine and substantial. Staff were friendly and obviously enjoyed serving and cooking as much as we enjoyed eating. Make a detour. Worth every mile and every penny.

A gem of a cafe, lovely staff, quality food. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff, even making up a takeaway salad box and a sandwich to be collected later. Plus the cafe is dog friendly....

We visited over Easter and loved all the little chocolate eggs hidden around the cafe - kept the kids entertained whilst they waited for their food! Lovely cafe with a great menu. We ordered a range of different food but loved the halloumi burger and cheeseburger especially. It’s great that dogs are allowed in this cafe but as we don’t own a dog, even better that there are two areas - one for dogs and one where dogs aren’t allowed. Service was quick and with a smile, reasonably priced too for restaurant quality food. The only improvement needed is the toilet area - could do with a update!

I don’t often go into bakery shops but we were visiting Driffield today and spotted that there was a small seating area inside at the front of the shop and a larger area further in. We were ready for coffee and a snack The shop is obviously very popular as I had to join the queue but it gave me the opportunity to look at what was on offer. Vastly superior quality to what is available in other chain bakery shops and very well priced. I don’t eat bread but the sandwiches were definitely calling to me!😹
