Fab pub ons Saturday night pub crawl in howden. Been a couple of times. Always nice 👌

£70 pounds for 4 dinners. Meat was tasteless. Hardly any veg. Gravy was like dish water. Couldn't tell the difference between lamb and beef. Cauliflower was grey! Roast potatoes was like a jacket potato. Other then that Yorkshire pudding was alright. Will not ever return even the dogs turned there nose up at it. Mother in law is happy with the plastic containers.

My dad, sister, and I decided to check out Bishops for our dinner whilst he was visiting for the evening, and we're glad we did. None of us had gone before, and were unaware of how busy it gets during the week, so didn't book. The waitress was very polite in asking if we'd booked, and managed to get us a table as long as we were gone before 7 (which gave us around an hour and 20 minutes - plenty of time) due to the evening/bookings being busy. She gave us time to settle in, told us about the specials, and took our drinks order while we looked at the menu. My dad got a beef burger, I got a chicken burger, and my sister got the 3 for £15 mix & match board (Fried halloumi, chilli beef fries, haddock bites). The balsamic vinegar had leaked underneath our burgers from the salad and had soaked into the bottom bun, getting our fingers slightly covered (which was no real issue), but other than that all the food was delicious (and arrived in good time) and we thoroughly enjoyed it! It's a small but cosy place and whilst it wasn't yet super full it had a nice atmosphere. It came to around £50 for three drinks and three main meals, which is what I'd expect from most restaurants. Will likely come again in the future! :))

Had my Baby Shower at the Hideaway upstairs in Bishops Bar. Absolutely perfect place for a special event. Food - buffet was lovely, and staff super helpful and friendly. Would absolutely recommend to anyone and everyone! Such a local Gem! 10/10 thank you guys for making my day special ! 🩷

Fantastic food, and great service! The portions are really generous and the food is very reasonably priced. The staff were busy but still attentive and great with the kids.

The food was excellent, very tasty and good size portions. Staff were happy, friendley nothing was to much. My friend is vegan, they were happy to adapt the menu, the service was also quick. We will be going back.

What a great place.. the Sunday dinner was lovely. Coming up from the 'Saaf' for the weekend to see old friends N and A i wanted a 'decent' Sunday dinner. This place is the place to go. Great atmosphere and everyone was friendly. If the Yorkshire Pud is not the size of my head then am I even in Yorkshire???

The best Sunday dinner you will find! Tender meat served with homemade Yorkshire pudding, crispy roast potatoes, mash & gravy. Selection of steamed veg and a plate of the most wonderful roasted veg arrive separately. All the staff are friendly, work hard and nothing is too much trouble. Quick service too…You will not be disappointed!

They gave us a tiny amount of meat and a ton of vegetables and charged us a lot considering what we received. Avoid at all costs if you want an adequate meal.

Very little food and obviously been cooked and kept warm for quite some time. Not much choice available (especially for vegetarians) small skillet of very burnt veg to share between 4 people, 1 thin slice of very fatty lamb and 1 overly done roast potato that I couldn’t cut. Don’t be fooled by the giant Yorkshire pudding, this was also hard and very dry. No chicken left (as part of a Sunday carvery)! and was advised they don’t have apple sauce (pork option was belly pork) but no apple sauce. We had booked 2 weeks previously and ate at 1.30, but disappointing that there was no chicken left so early on in the day. Quite clearly lack of food available that was being shared out hence the very small portions. Usually after a Sunday lunch you don’t need anything else to eat for the rest of the day, unfortunately not the case after this. Very disappointing and the young waitressess? clearly lacked any customer service skills or personality. There are far better places to go than here where you will receive good value for money and enough food!

Four of us ate here on Saturday evening. We sat upstairs and it was very busy. We had two waitresses that were great and very attentive. The food was first class, I had the goats cheese and pear tart for starters and the pork belly for mains and would recommend both dishes to anyone. Nicely done out restaurant with good service and great food. Great night!

Very nice place. Good atmosphere and helpful staff. Really good food and a decent range of dishes. The belly pork was a big piece for a starter, the burger was very tasty, proper bacon and crispy onions.

Amazing … we visited Bishops for Sunday lunch as a family of four and it was amazing. The food was delicious, packed full of flavour and the Yorkshire puddings were on another level; just beautiful. One waitress heard us saying that our son was shaking after his football game, she came straight over and asked if all ok and then came back with a biscuit; very attentive. We will definitely be back again and again for our Sunday lunch, thank you.

We came for dinner on a Tuesday night during half term. Dog friendly, so Beck came too. The starters and mains we had were delicious, well cooked and quality ingredients. The service was great, the waitress was really friendly and efficient. Would recommend the steak and the sea bass .

And once the starters were here, it took bloody ages to get the mains. We spent a large amount of money at this place. I asked the staff numerous times about our food and got the same answer every time that it was being plated. Now don’t get me wrong I understand that restaurants are busy places and there can be unexpected delays, however, honest communication would have been appreciated. They kept saying to us that the food is on it’s way. I cannot express my disappointment enough! If you are planning to give a surprise dinner for a loved one, the only surprise they are gonna get is of not receiving their food. The waiting time is so long that you’ll start questioning your own self respect. Absolutely awful! I do not recommend this place to anyone 👎

Called in on Sunday, it was real busy but they managed to find space for a extra 2. Meal was well priced and lovely. Will go again.

Amazing place. The food was outstanding and Peggy our server was lovely and we were well looked after. Can highly recommend the stuffed ribeye burger. Can’t wait to go again.

Great Sunday dinner good value.

If you like a real homecooked meal do not pass by! honestly one of the nicest meals, we have had in a long time Yorkshire puds OMG truly awesome!! beef so tender and tasty gravy was proper gravy! the bread roll was homemade too absolutely beautiful, it definitely on our list to go back SOON!!

OMG... would be there every day if I didn't live in London.. great quality and reasonably priced. Amazing roasts ... the picture is without the wonderful veg which came with the dish!!!

We may have caught them on a bad night but food service took over an hour and a half and one dish was cold when it eventually arrived, 15 minutes after my companion's meals. Waiting staff were friendly but looked like they were caught in the headlights. £10 knocked off the bill was poor compensation (shouldn't have had to ask for this!) for what was a disappointing experience in a noisy converted front living room with no atmosphere. Would not return.

Had a delicious Sunday roast here.

Booked a table for 6 o'clock this evening for 7 people . we had to wait over an hour and half for our main meal ,6 of us did Not order starters . one of the children had to wait over 2 and a half hours , after they got the order wrong for the child, we adults had finished our meal before she got hers.she then had to wait for a potion of chips that were pre ordered and requested 3 times now we are at 8.20 and the final straw that broke the camels back was after requesting our Bill it took a further 20 minutes .First and last time ,very disappointed indeed .

Took 40 mins to prepare 2 sandwiches There was only 4 tables occupied so not sure why it took so long, The cutlery was dirty, And I ended up in bed with a case of food poisoning Won’t be going again 😡

Lovely meal. I am gluten free and they were able to cater for me no problem. Lovely young lad that served us, very polite and nothing was too much trouble. They even had a few toys to keep our 1 year old entertained at his high chair whilst we were finishing off our meal. Good sized portions and reasonably priced. Thank you

Excellent Food and Service. We’d heard about this place and even visited last year but it was full and no tables available. We had our two Grandchildren with us and asked for a table for three plus a high chair. Immediately we were seated and settled. The person that served us was polite and patient, without being over the top. We ordered a Chicken Goujons kids meal and our meals, as well as a side plate for our one year old to pick from. The food and drinks were served quickly and efficiently and we were asked for any additional requirements etc. Delicious food, especially the Chicken Kiev ciabatta sandwich and the Steak and Red Onion wrap. Brilliant and we will return. Thanks.

A wonderful restaurant with some great food. I had arancini, sea bass and chocolate fudge cake. All of which was delicious and I hope to be able to return again. Friendly service and great value.

Great for Sunday dinners! We attended a private party in the Hideout at bishops 100% recommend even had a bar and toilets upstairs so you are completely private from the restaurant and bar!

Great choice of food and drink. The cafferys was fantastic, all at reasonable prices. (Wednesday evening) the service was excellent.

Tasty food. I liked the quesadilla more than the pesto sandwich. No vegan options I believe.

A young person's meeting place. Nicely refurbished and presented, but quite modern. Bistro and pub venue. Not quite traditional enough for my taste, but worth popping-in to try.

Four of us arrived for our booking at 6.30pm after an enjoyable day at The Driffield Show. My husband was happy that they had Timothy Taylor’s beer on draught - he wasn’t very happy with how cloudy and acidic it was! Nice looking menu, unfortunately two (trio of pork and all steaks) out of the three meat courses were unavailable the only other choice on meat was Chicken (is that meat?) or burgers! Eventually all four of us settled for fish (which was lovely if a little on the small side) and chips half of which were very dark brown - nice snd half of which were very light coloured - not so nice! Having been disappointed with the beer we ordered a bottle of very ordinary Sauvignon Blanc wine at a very loud £21 a bottle, good job it was French! The atmosphere was good if not a little noisy, but service was slow and lack of dishes we might have ordered was very disappointing.

Arrived early at 5pm so restaurant quite empty. Tables & chairs are bit basic, cushions would improve the seating. Freshly made food so a bit of a wait but worth it. Beer a good price, well kept Timmy Tailors. The wine a bit expensive. It's quite pricey for a 3 course with drinks, but good value for the quality & quantity. Fab crispy home made chips were favourite, burger was very nice. Staff friendly & helpful. By 7pm it filled up a lot in the bar area & customers were out in the street. My husband went back about 9pm & it was VERY lively & busy. Very popular bar & restaurant, would go again.

Had a fab experience here. They were extremely helpful about allergies. We mentioned them (dairy and egg) when we'd booked and when we arrived they had prepared a copy of the menu with each dish my wife could have, or that could be modified. Our waitress and the rest of the staff were lovely and helpful. They were also very helpful with getting some food out earlier for our baby. The prices were very reasonable and the food was exquisite. Everyone involved should be proud of themselves and this lovely little restaurant.

Wouldn't visit again. We have waited for our food for about 40 minutes, order came incoplete and then found a hair in coleslaw...

The worst experience we had in England so far in last 8 years. We were waiting for starters over 40min in half empty restaurant, when waitress finally came to our table she brought onli one soup instead of two and 2nd course at the same time. Another 10min of waiting. While she brought the 2nd soup everything was cold plus long hair in my wives salat. Owner wasn't there so she just left full plate of food we fully paint for and left. The best on all of it is that we didn't even get ,,SORRY,, from them. Horrible experience. Thank you Bishop's!!! Never ever again!!! Real shame!

Well what can we say small group across the age rand teenager to parent and grandparent. The noise level was bad. The comfort in the bistro restaurant was not there. The food was large portions of grissel greasy no taste. WE ARE NOT KNOWN FOR EVEN MAKING ANY COMPLAINT BUT WOULD SAY STAY CLEAR IF YOU WANT A NICE EVENING WITH GOOD TASTY FOOD IT WONT BE HERE

A bit noisy the night we went, it was a child's birthday, an unusual place to have a child's party, but why not!

A pleasant place but gets very busy on Friday. We had a table booked for food for 7pm and had to wait for it to be ready for about 30 min. I’ve had a goats cheese tart (it was OK), and a falafel burger (burger patty itself very disappointing but all accompaniments were good - other than the undressed salad leaves). The eating area’s decor could be improved as it looks a bit like a school canteen.

Excellent food with nice ambience

Not a huge selection of plates but quality was good and nice atmosphere. Very busy and service suffered a little but both staff members worked hard to keep up with demand and communicated well so delays did not impact on an enjoyable evening. Plenty of choice with cocktails and not too pricey when compared to Leeds, Birmingham or Manchester. Will visit again.

Outstanding food, service and quality, not shy with the portions. Quite a small menu... The belly pork was off the menu but my chicken burger (which I don't normally go for) was exceptional!!! Coleslaw could do with a touch of vinegar to 'let it down' and less mayo. Not sure I'd call it a bistro as table water, table cloth and etc missing. Would come here again on our next trip out from London to York for sure!

It's too busy and not very well managed. I was the only person to wash my hands and wear a mask to the toilet, while I was there.

Went with my family, there were 15 of us including a few screaming kids. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or more accommodating. The food was great and we had such a lovely time. Thank you very much to all the staff at Bishop's we were made to feel so welcome.

Excellent service and food, good beer.. was passing through Howden looking for a place to late lunch (most places close between 2 & 5pm), found Bishops Bistro.. had camembert to start which was delicious and sticky salmon noodles for main, which were cooked to perfection. Blondie for dessert (white choc brownie) - again delicious and all made fresh in house. Would highly recommend, reasonably priced considering the quality of food.

Tiny alley way to go down to find the place. Very friendly staff. Plenty on menu to choose from. We were going to have tapas but had main meal instead. Reasonable prices but as always the drinks are pricy for soft drinks.
