Went with our grand daughters and we were all disappointed in the food. The meals were cold even the gravy and the yorkshire pudding inedible! We took our drinks into the garden only to find guys smoking something that smelt like weed! We quickly left with the girls never to return again. Staff should put their noses in the garden from time to time if its a so called family pub!

I think service itself is nice always friendly staff but the quality of the roast is far from nice ,I have been a few times now hoping I just caught the chef on a bad day but again went today and was totally disappointed with the food . The beef was not chewable and was cold , potatoes always taste warmed up never fresh ,the Yorkshire puddings were so flat you could mistake them for pancakes ..overall very disappointed. I was not the only one in the cue at the time saying the same thing and when speaking with the manager knowing the food was not edible she only gave 20% discount. I am not one to moan really I just make the choice not to return to the place again now is the time to do so.

Friendly staff in a large carvery pub. The major issue is the locals, dogs barking in the main area without regard, the staff seem to tolerate this rather than managing the situation. This is a hospitality venue not a local dive bar where the few ruin the enjoyment of many. This is not a one off but the first time I have offered a review.

Have just been back to the Toby Carvery after a long absence . All the necessary precautions are in place and there are now a number of vegetarian / vegan options available . These all come in Yorkshire portions as we call them and it's quite a challenge to get through them ! It's not a gourmet experience but the food is what you would call honest pub grub , plenty of it and good value for money . The staff were friendly and welcoming and we were lucky to be early and not find the place overrun with other diners .

Visited on last day of the 50% eat out scheme (booked), for dinner 6pm, Greeted with a friendly approach and new systems explained well,Fairly busy but staff were very good apart from young lad serving behind the carvery,we waited about 30 minutes to get served not really a problem as safe distancing was in place, young lad never smiled once and clearly hated being there ,we both have worked through the difficult times in NHS roles and it has been difficult but we have to stay positive we put it down to his age, anyway all the other staff were tremendous. The Baked vanilla cheesecake was tremendous. overall a decent safe meal.

We came here for a meal after always having great meals at the Toby Carvery in York. There were 3 of us and gentleman tried to seat us on a table designed for 2, we did get a table for 4 when I asked to be moved, it was quiet so no need to be seated there! Not even seated and asked for drinks order We went for the Carvery, plates just to say warm, beef gristly/stringy, veg cold and not cooked, I like my veg Al Dente but not raw! Waitress did say she'd warm our meals but I didn't want everything microwaving Custard cold with treacle sponge Looking round other tables people had left loads on their plates Won't be coming back Good point - plenty of car parking

We went for a family treat for the Sunday roast. It was busy even though we had booked a table, we had to wait for 15 minutes. The décor is very nice, I think recently been redecorated. The staff are friendly. The carvery was good, although we found some of the vegetables were a little dry, but you could have as much as you wanted. The carvery is £3.00 dearer on a Sunday, (£10.49)

Booked a table online for 7 30pm Sunday evening,no issues there. The place was fairly busy but tables available. We went straight to Carvery. Both had beef, joint nearly finished.Should probably have asked for fresh one.Selection of veg ok but typical carvery, dried out due to sitting under lamps. My beef was awful, really grissley it was definitely the scrag end.For £10.49 each not impressed. First impressions count, bar was swimming in beer needed wiping down.Likewise Carvery serving area, lots of spillage on floor,a slip hazard surely. Can't say we will rush back anytime soon.

Called in here for a breakfast before a shopping trip, paid bill and didn’t think to question price, it says all you can eat for £4.69 we were asked if we wanted a hot drink we said tea, my son also got a coke the bill came to £16.51 for two of us it was only when I was checking my receipts for the purchases of the day that I realised the price wow... we had a cooked breakfast but didn’t have toast or anything else as we are not gluttons but realised that in effect were were charged £7.13 p for two mugs of tea and a coke. I won’t be going there again, the breakfast was ok, but I have never known anyone have Yorkshire puddings with onion gravy for breakfast so definitely gave that a miss. To be honest I doubt we would return again after that lady on till was nice enough, I used to go there quite regularly with friends and family and old workmates and food was fine and bill was itemised, this time it wasn’t it just had a code on it so you don’t know what your actually paying for, disappointed...

This pub has just been refurbished and is lovely however i personally think they have tried to squeeze in too many smaller tables so there's not much room. If you just call in for a drink for instance, you now have to sit with the customers who are eating. Next time I go for a meal I will ask to sit at the restaurant side because I don't want to walk through the whole bar with a plate of food. However, the carvery is always very nice, lots of choice of vegetables and always fresh yorkshire puddings so can't fault the food and the staff are very nice.

I was in a party of six. Arrived at 12 noon so food should have been hot but from the first mouthful the food was almost cold and within a couple of minutes it was cold. A friend had warned me that she had complained once and they actually argued with her and told her it definitely was not the case. Why do they put so much food out at once? Surely they could keep it hot in the kitchen and put it out as and when it was needed. Other restaurants manage so why not a big chain like Toby. The staff were very friendly but the food was dreadful. I will not be going back.

Fantastic waitress, I would give her 5 stars, very helpful cheery young lady.Sadly the carvery was not good. It was barely warm when we sat down to eat and was cold within another minute. Most of the veg were over cooked and tasteless. I'm sorry but I would go as far to say, it is the worst carvery we have ever had.The strawberry compote ice cream with shortbread crumble, was icecream with strawberry sauce which tasted like the cheap "sauce" from a plastic bottle and nothing like the compote I make! The shortbread crumble was 4 large pieces of hard shortbread biscuit, disappointing to say the least!!!The one star is for the nice floating coffee.

The Queen's on Harrogate Road is a comfortable and spacious pub with a carvery meal deal until 7pm during the week. The carvery has a choice of beef, chicken or turkey, ham or gammon. The meat is always delicious, not over or under cooked. The veggies are always fresh and hot and the yorkshire puds are lovely when fresh. The only caviat would be that sometimes they get a bit stale if left out too long. Gravy and a range of accompaniments are available. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a machine with cold drinks and ice on tap as well as bar staff. The tables are clean and well prepared. The venue is close to Chapel Allerton, a well known and busy local area. Good selection of flavoursome gravy, plenty to eat. Although some guest were a little to plenty to eat, it was first class dining as it should be.Clean, tidy and no cooking smells in restaurant just perfect. It is hard to find correct cuisine in the restaurant guides, usually had to get fully cooked yet juicy meat and vegetables to this standard.Well done you deserve a Star rating for management, understanding good food, and service.

It seems good value on the board but you have to pay extra for sausage and stuffing. It is very busy which is quite surprising but the chef ! gives a lesson on how to make a little go a long way. The meat was sliced so thinly and he plainly gives much less to the ladies. I asked for an extra slice of meat. Clearly this is an homage to the frozen food industry as the vegetables were run of the mill and not particularly hot. This is a run of the mill carvery nothing special

I opt for the meat free carvery as I find (at all carvery venues) that the meat on offer is usually far too dry for me, but this doesn't compromise my meal. The cauliflower cheese is fantastic and, although it's not to everyone's taste, I like the mashed potato that is usually very peppery. The service has always been friendly enough, and desserts (if you have room) don't disappoint... the honeycomb sundae is definitely my first choice! All in all, for a plentiful meal at a good price, I would definitely recommend!

I put this as very good. As a busy mum on a budget eating out happens few and far between. A Toby carvery is just the place for budget eating. The Queens Arms appears to be better than the usual Toby Carvery. You receive a warm welcome, the food is well prepared and presented by a group of lovely chefs, who take the time to explain how the meal has been prepared. The deserts are excellent (my 16 year old favourite part of the meal) they are very pleasing to the eye and tummy. The bottom less coke or lemonade is a help when on a tight budget. All in all a friendly well visited establishment, well worth a return visit.

I took a walk to the bakery to see if they supplied fresh bread. I checked the opening hours and when I arrived it was closed. Wasted journey. Looks a nice place from the outside though.

We’ve just been to the art gallery café for lunch we won’t be going back. They sell scones but they’ve run out of jam What kind of business can’t even organise going to the shop and getting a pot of jam. Leeds city council should be ashamed of themselves.

A large, airy and light-filled pub (for a change) with plenty of outside seating near the City Museum- a short hop from culture to chaos! The young workers were efficient, very hard-working and helpful. What is distinctive about this place (and its saving-grace) is that it has a sufficient number of students to keep the place on an ‘even keel’ (for example, talk of Trump’s superior IQ is, mercifully, rare). TOP TIPS: (1) choose outside or gallery seating for a relatively blissful experience ; (2) in general, choose a Spoons having a reasonably high proportion of students (albeit with a modicum of immaturity and ‘lively’ behaviour). In this way, relative sanity and intellect may well prevail.
