Cracking little place to stay if you’re visiting Leeds. Very close to the centre. Proper little English pub and the breakfast was great

If you are going to Leeds to watch a gig at the arena then this is an ideal stopping point. The building has a lot of history so if you want ultra modern throughout then this is not the place. If you want a nice place to rest with excellent service, comfy bed and a lovely en suite bathroom then this is the place for you. Approx 10 minute walk from first direct arena. The breakfast served was delicious and good quality produce used. Surrounding area not the most nice of looking places. Windows are thin and road outside busy so traffic noise will be heard but its not the worst I've experienced. The hosts are lovely and the pub has a lot of character. Would happily return and stay again

Fantastic stay at the Eagle Tavern, warm and welcoming staff. Rooms were to a very high standard and very clean and comfortable beds. Excellent bathroom facilities. Breakfast was 10/10 freshly cooked and great produce and again served by very friendly staff.

The hotel is located within walking distance to the arena, so it's great for gigs. Our room was facing the main road, so there was a bit of traffic noise, but it was the proximity to the arena, which was the important factor. Room was ensuite, nicely decorated, pleasant and clean. There are no TV's in the bedrooms, but that was not an issue for us. Breakfast was really good and the staff were great.

Returned for a second visit after my first in 2021. Still as brilliant as the first time. Great beer, helpful and friendly staff, clean and tasteful rooms. And a cracking cooked breakfast. So much better than the faceless hotel chains

Haven't used the hotel rooms but the bar is great always spotlessly clean decent pint at a good price and friendly service

A Samuel Smiths pub so no internal photos, beers are same as in all of their pubs but are on good form and the decor is very nice.

Stayed in a room for one night. Unfortunately they don't do food anymore and they said this was since Covid lockdown started. However they do serve breakfast for those staying in a room. The breakfast was very nice, a good full English with good quality sausage and bacon. If this was an indication of the food in general I would encourage them to do food again as it was lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming and it has an old fashioned pub feel where people do talk to eachother. Indeed there is no tech allowed in the pub so no looking at phones or TV screens.

Very nice comfortable stay, lovely bed and bathroom. Delicious cooked vegan breakfast. Very impressed to be asked in advance if I wanted full English, Vegetarian or Vegan without having to ask myself. Lovely place, easy trip from Leeds Bradford airport. Very helpful proprietor and staff.

What a fabulous find. Just returned from the Eagle Tavern, having had a great night in Leeds. First of all id like to thank the two ladies who welcomed us at reception ( the bar). Who couldnt do enough for us, with helping us out with the parking outside. Which is a first come first serve basis. Happy to chat. Always had a smile on their faces. The rooms were spotless and high end decor with lovely original features. Beds comfy. Bathroom had everything you need with a powerful shower. Breakfast very tasty and ample. We had the full english. Will definitely be returning. Cheers Eagle Tavern.

Nice friendly atmosphere, will go again

Old boys college reunion, the Eagle was perfectly placed, near the centre of Leeds. The room was perfect with tea/coffee making available, no TV but not a problem, we weren’t there to watch TV. The bed was very comfy and the shower great. Breakfast was a full English which hit the spot, service was spot on. The price for an overnight BandB unbelievable! The only drawback was no hand pulled beer it’s all on tap, however a minor setback compared to all the positives

Absolutely fabulous place! We were going to the First Direct Arena and wanted to stay overnight and I found this gem. Cheapest B&B you could find in Leeds and nothing compromised. 10 minute walk from the arena, lovely large, clean, comfortable room and the best full English breakfast we have ever had in a hotel. It was well cooked, quality food. All ensuite bathrooms. Ours was a good size, bath with great over bath shower. Large towel radiator and large bath towels. Plenty of hot water. Tea, coffee and biscuits in room. Note no lift to the bedrooms. Bar open 12 till 11pm Mon to Saturday, 12 till 10.30pm Sundays. Staff and landlady are lovely, friendly and helpful. There is limited parking outside the hotel and street parking 6pm to 8am, other than that restricted to an hour. We struggled to park, so were allowed to park in the courtyard attached to the hotel. Only room for a couple of cars. We will use this hotel next time we stay in Leeds.

My son has never been wrong with his pub recommendations and this was one of his best. Excellent beer, service and surroundings. If I didn't already live in Leeds I would like to stay here as well.

Old fashioned pub with bedrooms. It does what it says on the tin. Fine for budget accommodation. Chris took good care of us.

Found by fluke I stopped here for a night when out cycle touring. It's a gem! The pub is a digital detox zone so no mobile phones(!), really welcoming & cosy. The ensuite rooms are a refreshing change from bland identikit hotels, are spotless and the breakfast was lovely. Loved it and if/when returning to Leeds won't hesitate to book again. Thank you ☺️

Not visited here in a while.Decided to call in for a drink on the hottest day of the year. Pub wasn't very busy inside or outside surprisingly.We took a seat in the outside courtyard,but this was uncomfortably hot,no air circulating. Was disappointed to see that after all the money that was spent on a refurb,the outside courtyard planters were full of dead plants.

I've not been there but my son in law and his son have just been over from Germany for a weekend after a family bereavement. They tell me that The Eagle is a wonderful hotel with a public bar, but is misnamed as a Tavern.

Highly recommended... don't let the fact its Sam Smiths put you off... this is a great pub and the rooms are very clean and well decorated. No TV which is a bonus and the use of mobiles in the bar is banned. Which means the art of conversation is promoted whilst enjoying the well kept beers. Lovely breakfast cooked by Jo... Nice and fresh... and thanks Claire for looking after us in the bar. We will be staying again...

Lovely rooms, great breakfast decent pint

Wow what a find. The building is beautiful inside and out. The rooms are immaculately clean and sumptuous. Best nights sleep we have had in a hotel. The staff are super friendly and breakfast was amazing everything perfectly cooked. It is next to a busy road but we slept so well it didn’t wake us as the curtains are thick and windows reduce any noise. We will definitely stay again. Added bonus being a Samuel smith pub the beer is great. Thanks for a wonderful stay

Me and my partner found this little gem whilst looking for a place to stay as we were visiting Leeds to see Alanis Morrisette, unfortunately the show was cancelled but we still had a fabulous time thanks to Jo and leanne, they made our evening! We laughed and enjoyed the night despite the cancellation of the show so thanks guys. I could not recommend this place more, the room was cozy and very clean, the breakfast was lovely and the staff were more than great !!! See you again soon as we will not stay anywhere else when visiting Leeds now! I hope the owner is aware of how great you both are Jo and leanne.

My wife and I were invited to celebrate 21st birthday party of a much loved niece. The party was hosted at Field Recordings (perfect hosts and facilities!) and we wanted to find accommodation as near by as possible. We found Eagle Tavern on Google Maps and it was literally around the corner from Field Recordings. Perfect! Booking the room was straightforward and we were given a warm and friendly welcome upon arrival. The room that had been prepared for us was lovely, comfortable and traditionally furnished to a very high standard. In fact, Eagle Tavern is lovely, comfortable and traditionally furnished to a very high standard. My wife and I enjoyed our stay, ate a delicious breakfast, and hope to visit again soon.

Stayed one night in the rooms above. Very pleasant and walking distance from Leeds city centre. Decent breakfast too. Would stay here again.

Excellent location for the arena. Lovely warm welcome. Great food and drink. Very oldy worldy which was nice change, very calming. Spacious rooms and lovely en suite. Very clean and everything has been done to a high standard. Would recommend 👌 👍

We visited Leeds to see the Simple Minds gig and chose the Eagle Tavern due to the proximity to the arena, the reviews were good and it was great value for money. The room was great and clean, the pub was cool and actively encourage you to not use your mobile phones and just use the old fashioned art of conversation. The full English breakfast in the morning was well needed and really good and I would also like to say thank you to the Landlady as she was very welcoming and hospitable. All in all, we will defintely return when we visit Leeds again for another night out.

We stayed at The Eagle Tavern because other hotels in Leeds were either booked up or too expensive. We are so glad we did and will be booking with them every time we visit this area. The pub is a beautiful building with lots of history,the bedrooms clean and fresh with almost a regal feeling about them and the breakfast (full english) was great quality and perfectly cooked. What made our stay even more perfect was the helpfulness and friendly attitude of the proprietor and the bar staff. They rang a taxi for us and even rang the firm back to chase them up when they didn't arrive in time.I am looking forward to returning and hopefully trying the Sunday lunch which if breakfast was anything to go on will be fabulous.

Stayed here when in Leeds to see a concert and do some Christmas shopping. Very comfortable and clean rooms. Excellent breakfast, owner and staff couldn't do enough for us. Also thank you for the very kind gesture on my return from Concert. Within easy walking distance of both Arena and main shopping area. Would definately stay here again and would recommend to others. Small tip, if you are light sleeper take ear plugs as I always do, Tavern is on a busy road, but traffic did not bother us at all.

Fantastic value for money. A really personal touch from all the staff, who couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. The bedroom and bathroom were both really lovely and spacious, bed very comfortable and tons of hot water in the sumptuous bath and fab power shower. Downstairs the pub (a renovated period building) has a variety of little snug rooms and open fires, so felt very homely. Hard to believe that this gem is a 20 minute walk from Leeds City Centre!! We will certainly be back!!

Loved it here. A real gem. Beautiful, well kept room, super comfy beds, friendly staff and a glorious full English breakfast with black pudding and plenty of coffee! The room felt really quite posh compared to the premier inns if the world and the bath and shower were top quality. Definitely going here again.

An absolute diamond of Leeds. The manager and her team were were so friendly and nothing was too much of a problem. Its in a great location as is only a short walk to the city centre and is on the door step of the First Direct Arena. The room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfy, a great night sleep. Full English breakfasts were simple, tasty and filling... what more do you need ! Can't recommend The Eagle Tavern enough to everyone.

Recently stayed at The Eagle Tavern for 2 nights and can honestly say it is a wonderful place to stay. A short walk from Leeds city centre and literally on the door step of the Arena. The welcome was very friendly and the service was always with a smile. The room was spotlessly clean, really comfy bed and a proper power shower. What i loved was there was not a TV in the room and the bar was a phone & laptop free zone which meant the room was full of conversation .. brilliant. A simple well served and well cooked breakfast. Really can not recommend this gem of a place enough, great value for money will definitely be returning

So lucky to have found the Eagle Tavern after my partner and I found ourselves stuck in Leeds a couple weeks ago. Beautiful pub and rooms, great food and beer, and awesome welcoming staff! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, cannot recommend this place enough, we will definitely be back!

This beautiful Inn is like an oasis that has withstood all the ravages of time. Once you are in this beautifully maintained place you feel like you have been whisked back to somewhere in the 19th century in the golden age of the great British Inn but probably with better beer and much cleaner air. The landlady here is a diamond and the beer is the best that Samuel Smith has to offer. Can't think of finer reasons to visit.

This was how dirty the place was, a toilet block on a cubicle wall. And before anyone starts I didn't put it there for effect. If there's a problem I'll say it, otherwise I applaude British businesses . No pool table even tho there is plenty of room to put the chairs that are put there for social distancing, it's a hotel for gods sake. And last of all not very friendly staff, which is mostly why I looked a little deeper. Oh yeah and taddies up from £2.30 to £3.70 a pint... Totally underwhelmed and that's putting it politely

Feels like being part of a members only club. Beautiful old building with multiple cosy rooms for groups to enjoy drinks, and friendly bar staff, with excellent beers on tap.

We booked in here for New Year's Eve. It turned out we were to be the only residents! However, we were welcomed and quickly allocated to our room. We got Room 104 which was a family room. This was a lovely big room with double aspect windows, double bed and a single bed. Decor was very nice and in keeping with the building as was the large dark wood furniture. Excellent, high speed wifi but as it is a Sam Smith's pub there is no TV or radio. However, you can stream both as the wifi is fast and efficient. Bathroom was lovely, modern, really clean and very large with an overbath shower but this was excellent, with good hot water and good power. Bathroom was warm and bright as there was a large window. We went down to the bar for a pre dinner drink. The chat in the bar was very good and the staff were helpful and friendly. We asked for a recommendation on where to eat and they recommended an excellent Chinese restaurant, about 10 minutes away. We came back after dinner and stayed in the bar until we finished our drinks and saw the New Year in. Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order. We were asked what we wanted to eat when we checked in. My husband opted for the full English and I had beans on toast with poached egg. Food was delicious, plentiful and hot. Joanne is an excellent host and her staff are friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend as the hotel is central for the City centre and the Arena. Our only issue was our room remained cool, despite the raditators being turned up to full power and good quality heavy curtains, there was also some road noise as the hotel is on the side of a busy road.

sam smiths pub cheap beer and very nice inside and a nice outdoor area -a bit of a walk from the centre -its a hotel too so would be a good quieter place to stay for anyone staying over in leeds

We stayed over the weekend and will definitvely book here next time we visit Leeds. Keypoints: good service, great beers, freshly refurbished, reasonable prices. So good value for money if you compare with ordinary hotels. And not to forget: we were offered to park the rentalcar in the backyard

Lovely warm and welcoming cheap pub! I love this place. Its so big inside and the rooms are so welcoming. It also has a great large beer garden in the back which a lot of people probably miss. You can't go wrong with this place!

Came here for 2 nights - 1 for a visit to the Arena - 10 minutes walk away - and a leisurely days walking along the Leeds Liverpool Canal. The location of the hotel is superb, the room was clean and spacious and the breakfast outstanding. The jewels in the crown are Jo, her staff and the customers who were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome. We will be back!

For the Leeds Arena and City Centre this hotel/pub/restaurant is a gem. The Arena is no more than a 10 min walk.

Jo and her team were absolutely outstanding delivering a warm welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The rooms are beautiful and we've had the best nights sleep in the beds that were like sleeping on clouds. The bar offers cosy little rooms with real fires along with a games rooms for those that want a game of pool or darts. Enclosed beer garden for when the sun is shining. Perfect location on the edge of Leeds ensures a good night's sleep.

Had a great couple of nights at the Eagle. The rooms were spotless and the staff very friendly. I would recommend a stay to anyone who is visiting Leeds.

Acabo de pasar una noche encantadora aquí. El personal no pudo hacer lo suficiente por usted y fue tan acogedor, incluso dejamos que pusiéramos nuestro auto en el patio para que estuviera seguro. El pub en sí servía una excelente comida casera, cerveza barata y tenía un encantador ambiente agradable. El desayuno era abundante y productos de muy buena calidad. Todo esto por 80. Es un paseo de 10 minutos hacia el centro y, a pesar de que está en una calle principal, tuvimos una buena noche de sueño. Lo recomiendo altamente

Hidden gem. Refurbished to a very high standard with a full compliment of Sam Smiths beers at competitive prices (cheapest pint £1.35). Also serves good quality English food and rooms are available. I have viewed the rooms and they are also of 4* quality - I believe price is £65 a night for a double Inc breakfast. No TV in line with Sam Smiths tradition but they have free wifi.

Es la primera vez que visita el lugar, lo recomendaría, una excelente relación calidad-precio y un personal y un ambiente muy amables. Parada de autobús fuera o 10 minutos a pie del centro. El desayuno era delicioso, no probé la comida en la noche, pero olía delicioso y tenía un precio razonable. Sin duda volveremos

Lovely pub cheap drink not a bad selection,as it's a Sam Smith brewery you only get his ale's which are very good,very clean public house.Tea & coffee in bedroom,but no t.v's anywhere in the pub or bedroom,very good service & friendly staff.
