The Queens in Camden

We were there last Sunday, sitting outside in the sun. The atmosphere was buzzing! The staff are always friendly and service is good. If you want to eat here, you really need to book as it’s always busy. Food is delicious!

I chose to spend my birthday there and I booked an area in the pub. The pub is very nice and in a prime location but I'm afraid I have to say that the staff ruined my birthday with their dismissive and, at time, contemptuous, attitude. I rang the day before to have confirmation that my group was allocated in the terrace and I was reassured that this was the case. When we arrived, the terrace was given to another group and we were told that they put in a corner inside. It was an unusually hot day and it was boiling hot. But most of all, they never apologize or show any sympathy. I understood that there was some miscommunication between the staff but again, the attitude was pretty contemptuous and totally uncaring. We decided to move on and celebrate anyway. We were a small and very well behaved group, that was too shy to complain for fear of being impolite or ruining the atmosphere of the party. The staff uncaring attitude was way more unforgivable than the fact that they weren't properly trained, and it showed throughout the evening. And it wasn't even busy, as we booked for an early afternoon. For example, we ordered a magnum of Rose' that is meant to be served chilled. That was about £80. They took it out of the shelf and put in in a cooler bucket that was way too small for a magnum (2/3 of the the bottle stuck out) so, a part from the fact that it looked funny, it never got cold. All they had to do is to come to the table and ask: "sorry guys the wine is not chilled would you like to wait until it cools down in the fridge or would you rather chose another drink?" That question was never made and that option never presented to us. To add insult to the injury, they didn't even bother to remove the dust from the bottle! (that's what I mean when I say that the dismissive attitude here verges on contempt, throughout). Unfortunately, since I was busy entertaining people I didn't notice what was going on until the bottle was opened and few glassed served. When I realized, I was mortified and I could only apologize to my guests. We felt that since we opened the bottle and the wine was in the glasses, it was too late to complain and send the bottle back but really we did left with a bitter taste. As I said, that's not just lack of training, it's lack of care! On the positive the baked camembert was really good.

We came for an early dinner before the football game (sat upstairs). Just one waitress serving what looked like a full restaurant. We waited 30 minutes for some olives. Then 45 minutes from ordering our food arrived minus the truffle chips we ordered. The chips that were served with the (overdone) burger were cold. Food was average at best… They clearly need more staff.

Ordered chicken Caesar salad and a burger. The burger was fine. The salad was underwhelming. Nice crispy chicken but it was on just lettuce with a little parmesan and dressing. I asked for no anchovies, but this literally left the salad as lettuce. Could have been better!

We were upstairs for a Saturday lunch. Rather noisy initially owing to groups of ladies having a celebration. The amounts of food we were given didn't look too big, but they were actually full of high quality meat and fish. Best meat pie I have had in ages Very enjoyable and very filling. Had some excellent sandwiches which were also enormous, along with some lovely gin spritz with really nice flavours in the sun! Service was great too. Deffo hit them up this summer!!

Visited bank Holiday Monday, service a little slow but we had cod and triple cooked chips,, the cod batter was very soggy and the triple cooked chips were just oven chips and certainly not triple cooked, I won't be back

I eat a lot of pub food and take it from me, the Queen's is on a roll! Definitely a cut above the average and with genuinely interesting dishes like tempura samphire. I live opposite so I've seen the ups and downs over the years. This is a big and sudden up and so I think one could disregard previous reviews.

Vivimos en el norte de Gales y venimos a Londres una vez tal vez dos veces al año y siempre nos las arreglamos para comer aquí. Comida deliciosa, sin embargo, poco después de terminar mi postre, me encontraba muy mal y tuve que ir al baño para enfermarme. Reservamos una mesa para que nuestros amigos que visitaban el Reino Unido pudieran experimentar un pub británico de estilo tradicional. Nuestra experiencia no defraudó. Nuestra mesa estaba lista (en la ventana) y los pedidos de bebidas se tomaron con prontitud. Un buen menú con variedad y comidas tradicionales para todos. A un precio razonable también. Toda la comida que se sirvió fue de alta calidad y sabor, nadie se decepcionó, la única sugerencia es que deben usar 'papas fritas' y no 'papas fritas' con las comidas, especialmente pescado y 'papas fritas' y la hamburguesa. Lo recomendamos encarecidamente y nos gustaría volver en algún momento en el futuro.

This pub has food and drink-not too different than most establishments but of quality never the less. What caused me to want to write a review was Eric’s help navigating the Tube. Subways/trains/tubes are different wherever you are. But the bartender or staff that helps you find your way is invaluable. Thank you.

I really like this place. It’s got a lively atmosphere and drinks don’t disappoint. Asllan served my party and was stellar but really all the staff were cherry. My new go to. Highly recommended!

Nice place, very cosy and locals visit frequently as well. I hope Europeans, not necassarily Italians, will be employed there in the future as well despite the British lunacy of supporting Boris Trump ....

Terrible service, disorganised and rude at times. Overpriced and very poor quality food. Definitely not a place that could offer anything more than the average pub food. Will certainly not repeat and definitely not recommended for anything else other than a pint.

We booked a table for 12 to celebrate my Fathers Birthday! Despite being a large group there were no issues with seating or booking during the busy Christmas period. Our booking was managed by Rebecca who was always prompt to respond to my emails - she was super accommodating when only 50% of our group decided to op for the set menu and was kind enough to include place settings for everyone! We were served by Joss and Alice who were both so lovely and helpful - they were always on standby to get more wine and clear the table. We stayed until the pub closed but never felt rushed - we love popping in when we walk up Primrose Hill and highly recommend for a pre or post walk drink or Sunday lunch. See you soon!

My dogs and I visited the Queens and had the Queens Mixed Grill. A must try! Delicious! In addition to enjoying my meal it was a great place to enjoy my book over a red wine.The staff are friendly and attentive. I recommend it as a place where on your own you will not feel out of place and the furries will love the free treats.

One of the best pubs in London. Efficient bar, good food at fair prices, friendly staff. Being located in Primrose Hill is a bonus.

We had a lovely Christmas lunch at the Queen's. The food was delicious and super large portions - we definitely didn't leave hungry!

When I tried to order a drink at the end of the evening, I was told that last orders had gone. I mentioned that there was no last bell nor did anyone go round the bar to announce last orders, as is common practice in many pubs. I was told, in a very condescending manner, that they don't follow such practice - and I was told in such a way as if I was at fault for not knowing this. No apology or explanation, but more like putting the blame on me.

Manager Fraser looked after 4 hungry Canadians and saved us a table so we could enjoy a fantastic Sunday Roast. Wonderful service, friendly regulars and a warm fireplace for rainy days. Thanks for a great experience! We’ll be back. Oh and the beer is pretty good too.

We found this place by chance on a rainy night wandering through Primrose Hill, and it was exactly what we needed.

Had dinner with a friend, thought it would be a nice gastropub similar to others in the area. I think they were understaffed but service was virtually non existent. It was a bit grotty generally, and toilets awful.

The fish and chips were so delicious and the atmosphere was great! The decor and location was perfect!

Great food, great portions and the staff were fantastic. We all had the roast dinner and could not have been happier with it.

Good squash n quinoa salad and pork loin steak as was the rhubarb n apple crumble w custard - more like good home cooking than restaurant quality. Service was pleasant.

Received a free birthday drink for my birthday which included a friend. On arrival manager informed me that this was an old offer but he would accept it. Then he informed us we could only have beer. We had the page with the t&c; which clearly stated variety of drinks which we pointed out.

We had our wedding reception here on the bank holiday weekend. The whole process from making our initial enquiry right through to the day of the event, was wonderfully handled by Rebecca and Fraser. The evening itself couldn’t have gone better; fantastic, relaxed and professional service, great food from the kitchen team, wonderful table decorations, and a perfect setting overlooking the park. We can’t thank the team enough for the day, which we will all remember with fondness for a long time to come.

The Queens is a classic London pub in a lovely location - perfect for a quick Scotch on a wintry evening by the fire.

Great location located right next to Primrose Hill, sometimes gets a little crowded, as the bar area and the pub ir quite narrow, always a decent atmosphere

This pub the Queens used to be great but when its management is instructed (by Youngs) to take away bar stools and chairs from its interior bar and exterior area you can be sure its emphasis is on making money, not on creating a warm. comfortable atmosphere for its regulars, punters and new visitors. They changed their tap drinks too for less good versions and brands. Its short sighted and mean, Their 'shrug shoulders' attitude has already lost them a loyal local crowd and the word is spreading. Don't support this venue, this corporate trend here or anywhere. Demand better.

I don't know if this was a joke, or they just genuinely wanted to fleece vegans for as much as possible, but their latest "offer" was a total insult to vegans / veganuary! Won't ever be stepping foot inside a Young's pub ever again!

Dropped in after a walk with friends and was surprised how busy it was for a Saturday lunchtime. Nice to see they stocked a non alcoholic lager and the décor and staff were above average.

This used to be my local back in the 70ies. Was my favorit then and still is. Whenever back in London, PrimroseHill and a pint or two at Queens is a must. Sundaylunch is also very nice. Recommended

Enjoyed an afternoon pint on the lovely terrace here (didn't eat so can't comment on food). Good bar staff who for once knew how to properly pour a pint of Guinness.

I used to love visiting this pub and it’s been a huge part of my family for the past 40+ years! My grandparents used to drink everyday here and loved the village feel it always had. They also would spend a massive percentage of their pensions here. I get that places need refurbs to freshen up the vibe and keep up to trends. However did the queens not only have the last one a couple a years ago? I loved how myself and my family felt so comfortable to go in here by ourselves/sometimes alone for a quiet drink. You could sit at the bar and not feel like you were a burdance or uncomfortable. However with the new refurb there’s no bar stools for the regular clientele who are loyal with their business even in the quieter months. My poor grandfather does not feel comfortable going in here alone and being forced to sit at a big table by himself. With my grandmother no longer here the queens would be the place he can go to relax and not feel alone but not anymore. Also the beer has literally gone down the tubes! The fresh perfect pour ales are now stale, cloudy and tasteless. Someone obviously hasn’t got a clue of how to look after and serve beer. I’m saddened to say that after all these years my family will be taking their loyal business elsewhere unless something changes!

for pub food, it was some of the best we had...towards good - very good FOR PUB FOOD. not very good as compared with all similar restaurants. nice friendly service though! Super friendly and comfortable inside. The best entree we had was the chicken and mushroom pie - rich and delicious. the butternut and sweet potato mash was hardly a pie as advertised., it would have been better with some crust. it was served less than half the height of the pot. not a bad taste but not substantial and not a pie just because you put it in a small pot. The Angus ribeye was pretty good, but not inexpensive. the skinny truffle fries were ok, but clearly frozen and similar to McDonalds. would have appreciated freshly cut and fried. the creme angles and chocolate nemesis were ok fairly tasty. all in all, great atmosphere, friendly and efficient service. food is ambitious but needs a bit more attention, but was better than most pub food.

Came after a stroll on the hill. We haven't been for years but must say the roast was simply delicious. We went upstairs to escape the busy downstairs area but found the dining room to be equally as full. The waitress invited us to have a drink downstairs whilst we waited for our table. Think slices of roast beef, crispy roast potatoes, beef dripping gravy. One very happy family. Our new haunt for Sunday lunch.

Came with two friends for a drink and a catch up, see a few pies walk past for another table and was sold instantly! Between the three of us we had a chicken, cottage and butternut pie each, three pies, three people, three happy smiles!

We went here based on our hotels recommendation. We were dining upstairs and I must say we were a little disappointed. I had a burger and ordered it well done. The only thing that came well done was the bun. It was burned. My wife had the fish soup and found it a bit bland. Our waitress was nice but when we were to leave she was nowhere to be found. We finally found someone else so we could pay and leave. Not a bad experience but we wouldn’t go back.

We had a quick drink here before crossing the road to Odette's. Excellent atmosphere, good beer, and from the family eating at the fireplace, definitely kid friendly

I spent NYE at The Queens and it was my first time eating there. I am normally nervous eating out as I have 10 allergies (gluten and garlic being the tricky ones). But the staff were very helpful before and on the night. The chef even came out to clarify what I could eat and put my mind at ease. Great atmosphere and prices too! 2 x 3 courses, bottle of wine and 4 other drinks came to £115. Will be back!

Visité este lugar con algunos amigos en la noche del sábado. Tenía una mesa reservada pero fantástico, la comida era mala, la hamburguesa y la porción de patatas fritas eran casi inexistentes y la hamburguesa probado de cartón. Además, el pub de distribución era muy claustrofóbico (no de la manera acogedora). El bar de las mujeres era muy eficiente y amable, pero los camareros eran bruscos y distraído.

Came here by chance after a walk up primrose hill. We didn't have a booking but we were found a nice table just as someone left which was lucky because the place was rammed. The food came out hot with loads of gravy and seasonal squash on the plate was lovely. There was a good choice of ales and the treason red ale was really good. Definitely a must after working up an appetite on primrose hill

Being local to the area for many years we made a family visit to this well established primrose hill pub for lunch last sunday. Being sunday, most of us ordered the roast and in my case the stuffed chicken breast with all the trimmings. It arrived fairly promptly but was hugely disappointing. The roast potatoes which should really be the star of the show alongside the meat were new potatoes, still slightly undercooked which had been roasted in the oven, not the crispy golden roadies I was hoping for. The chicken was dry, under seasoned and had no real taste. The vegetables had clearly all just been thrown in a big roasting dish (probably with the new potatoes) and were both undercooked but burnt on the outside and the yorkshire pudding was dry and dull. I think the gravy was probably out of a pocket. All in all we were all very underwhelmed by the whole experience. Roast dinners are not unfortunately the easiest things for a busy pub to cook, often done far better at home and this was certainly no exception. We skipped the puddings.

Popped in to do some work . A lovely traditional pub in Primrose hill with extremely nice staff. I ordered some of the snacks, the mozzarella sticks and the fried pickles which were lovely and surprisingly reasonably priced for Primrose Hill. I often come for the quiz on mondays which is a great laugh as well. Would recommend

The food is alright, the staff is friendly and for London the prices are OK. It's a slightly different place than you'd expect in Primrose Hill, which is really refreshing. Bonus points for the staff being super helpful with gluten free food

I had booked the upstairs room and terrace of the Queen's to celebrate a birthday and graduation and from the start, the wonderful manager, Lucy, dealt with my queries with great efficiency and professionalism. A varied and imaginative menu was suggested by Lucy and her chef and the result last Saturday evening was pure perfection. The food was sublime and the service by Lucy and her charming and friendly team was second-to-none. Really, I cannot fault it at all and my friends and family who were there had nothing but praise for a thoroughly enjoyable and problem-free celebration! Highly recommended.

Attended this beautiful pub on a Saturday afternoon to celebrate a friends birthday. We had the terrace booked and had high hopes for a good time. We arrived at 16:00 and were taken up to the terrace. It was interesting to see the size, as this particular area was rather small, especially when you try to cram in 13-15 people into the area. It is not ideal. We had this area until the late evening, which is something that I will come onto later but for the time being, it was good. You overlook Regents Park Road, and the selection of lavish houses surrounding the area was very nice. Rather like a scene from the 101 Dalmatians (if you’re old enough to have grown up with it). Moving now then to the products and service on offer. They have a fantastic selection of beer on here, and they all have a relation to London in one way or another which was very welcoming on a relaxed Saturday afternoon. I particularly enjoyed the SW12, a Wimbledon based ale which was rather fitting given the time of year. Quite light, and refreshing with a medium alcohol limit it didn’t flaw you through a long drinking session. I did however get rather peckish and having drank from 16:00 onwards, at around 19:00 I decided to take a look at the menu along with some friends. I had spotted some good reviews made in relation to the Sausage and Mash Potato which I thought may provide some substance to my stomach. My friends ordered the burger with fries, and the fish pie. All reasonably priced, and really did not take long to make. I do usually like to time how long the service is, but given the relaxed place, I didn’t bother. My Sausage and Mash was rather nice. It consisted of a Pork, smoked bacon and maple sausage, with spring onion mash, and rich gravy. The sausages were nice, although a little fatty and the spring onion mash was just that. Spring onion, and mash. Being a norther guy, I was looking forward to lavishes of gravy, but this was served with a small shot of it which again was a tad disappointing. My friend, who had the Queen’s beef burger, ale onions, pickles, American cheese, ketchup, mayo, lettuce, and fries, gave a good report. He seemed to like it and it certainly looked delicious. The burger being fried just to the correct point, with it being slightly raw in the middle. The Fisherman’s pie however, whilst it did look rather nice with the daily catch fish and king prawns, was absolutely piping hot. So if you do order this dish, please do be careful because it should come with a warning. To make matters worse, we were sat outside, but it still took a while to cool down. We were not complaining however, it was rather nice. Now, this is where things began to get a little annoying. We were repeatedly reminded from around 22:00 onwards that the noise level was “too high”. Right ok, understandably we had been drinking from 16:00 onwards and yes, we were celebrating a rather important birthday, but I wouldn’t regard the noise as being too high. None more so than a general conversation between each other. This was questionable. Then, on the final count we were asked to leave the area at 23:00 as they are not allowed drinking outside at this time, or some other poor excuse. A young man came out to us to explain that they had received complaints already from neighbours and that we were asked to come inside. Okay, that’s fair enough, I don’t believe it one bit, but we will be cooperative and vacate. Would I return again? Well yes, I would. It was a nice place with a little bit of character. I like the food, although I probably wouldn’t return to eat. Did the staff make the stay welcoming? Yes, I believe so. It would have been helpful to have been warned at the beginning that terrace is “off limits” at 23:00. Would I recommend you to visit? Yes. It’s rather delightful, and I think that you would enjoy it.

Avoid at all costs. And especially the pork T bone. This is probably the worst meal in London the six of us have ever eaten. Soggy, fatty, small, dry, you name it, this was terrible. Great location, this pub needs new owners to come in and spend some time getting the basics right, it could be great. Bar staff were reasonably friendly. Just do not eat here!

After a day at the cricket at Lord's we were looking for somewhere to eat and happened across the Queen's. The Pub was busy, but there was a table in the bar area and had a look at the menu and decided to give it a try. Having now seen the other reviews, I must say that had we seen these first we would probably have kept on looking, which would have been a shame because we would have missed a very good dining experience. We found the bar staff friendly cheerful and helpful. We shared a starter of beetroot cured salmon, which was both substantial and excellent. For our mains we both chose rack of lamb which was perfectly cooked and tender. The accompanying roast vegetables were also well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The food is not cheap, but we found value for money on our visit. Clearly some other reviewers have not been as fortunate, but hopefully our experience signals an upturn in the standards in the kitchen. I would be happy to return if in the area.

The pub is just on the corner of Primrose hill and just couldn't be better placed.There are little shelves in the outside wall so you can perch whilst having a drink which is a great idea.But the staff are not particularly friendly and although I'm a local I rarely go in - because the Engineer round the corner - although not as well placed - has much friendlier staff.

This is a really cute pub at the bottom of Primrose Hill. The location is great, the staff very friendly. Drinks are good. BUT, the food is not good. We ordered the chicken roast and fish and chips. The chicken was dry and gamey. The potatoes were overcooked and the sauce was weird. It all kind of tasted like old mush. The fish was in a heavy greasy batter. The fries were greasy. They need to work on the menu. For such a cool spot they should re-do it.

Really amazing atmosphere where you can enjoy a relaxed drink or have a long large meal with friends

Reasonably priced for the area but the food is very average. Staff are friendly and the environment is nice. You couldn't get closer to primrose hill.

Popped in for a drink on Mother's day. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Well located near Primrose Hill. Food looked good but didn't eat. One downside is the amount of dogs in pub. But we'll worth a visit.

Great beers nice atmosphere but the food is really not good. We took the fish and chips and a burger, French fries were totally over burnt.

I've been here a few times I've the years. Downstairs was very busy so went upstairs for drinks and then ordered dinner. The waitress -Mandy- was a dream and super helpful, attentive and welcoming Super food, super service and amazing service. Looking forward to my next visit already. Thanks guys

This is the third London pub where the food has been average at best, so perhaps my expectations are the problem. This time a roast chicken Sunday lunch was a large serving, but apart from the tasty chicken and stuffing the veg were canteen standard - including the goose-fat roasted potatoes which sounded great, but if they are kept warm for too long as these were they go leathery. Apart from this, the pub itself is charming and the beer on tap perfect. I'd recommend without hesitation just for a drink.

The place was packed and the atmosphere was really Christmassy. It was so busy it took a little while for the food to come but the staff were brilliant and the food was amazing.

Food has been good quality here for years (but I've always stuck to the British Classics) but a major pro for me was the dog friendly atmosphere. There aren't many pubs in London that are as dog friendly as this & I can happily say the pups were comfortable. It gets busy & crowded and dogs are only allowed on the ground floor, so come early if you got the puppies in tow.

Very disappointing meal last night in the Queens. The food was pretty dull and the service not very helpful or particularly friendly at all. My husband ordered a steak and asked for it medium rare to be told they don't serve anything less than medium! He ordered the fish and chips instead the chips were ok but the fish was soggy. I had a lentil dish which was pretty tasteless and pretty much just a plate of lentils. Ive eaten and drank in the Queens many times over many years and the foods never been amazing but now seems to have hit an all time low.

What a great pub! Sitting on the small terrace looking down into Regent's Park Road, drinking Young's Special, all cosy with the blanket with one of the staff provided to keep our knees warm. Heaven! One of the staff came out excitedly to ask if we wanted to try the homemade scotch eggs because they had just been made freshly. Delicious! I am definitely going back.

Beer is good, atmosphere good, mains are a bit on the small side for the price but are all in all good. That said, DO NOT ORDER THE ICE CREAM SANDWICH. When you think of an ice cream sandwich you think wafer, cake or biscuit. Not in a burger bun then. A single dollop of ice cream in a burger bun for six quid. Absolute disgrace, even the barman/waiter was embarrassed. Frankly the chef should be embarrassed to even consider this on his menu. It is overpriced but what do you expect for the location. They use the same food supplier as prisons, military establishments and hospitals - not usually a sign of quality. Much better establishments are available locally.

I had Sunday roast here and it was unbelievable good. So much food, great pork, pudding, carrots, all so perfectly cooked. The beer selection is great too. We sat in the bar area but they have an upstairs too. Perfect location to the park. I will be going back .

We have eaten here before but this time popped in for a beer with the daughter post birthday lunch. As usual great atmosphere and good range of beers

We popped in out of the rain and we're told there was a last table for twoWe went upstairs where it is very nice and a relaxing atmosphere. We had the butchers boards starter to share which was out of this world, amazing! I had the burger and my wife the sea bass washed down with a bottle of Prosecco. A very nice evening all round !

Excellent selection of pies, burgers, fish and chips and more. The staff was very, very friendly and helpful. A very pleasant place, and excellent stop when visiting Primrose Hill. Highly, highly recommended.

We had an awesome dinner time at this pub's balcony and we highly recommend to make a reservation as they are very busy even when on a weekday night. We also had an amazing guy serving us with great uplifting vibes. We love the interior deco and overall had a wonderful experience with a view of the park too.

OK, the Queens is a pub for Celebrities and Paperazzi - but also serves good food on the small restaurant above the bar. Fish and chips is particularly good.
