6.40p small fish, chips and peas ( portion are big) ONLY prob is the chips are cut pretty THIN so I threw about 3rd away , the peas THIS TIME where a dark green and a bit stui ( stuck together ) so I as good as threw them all away and the fush was pretty dry inside ( I did eat it all as I was hungry) they need to cut the chips THICKER !!!,

It's very GOOD chippy for fish and +chips and cheap , the only problem is the meat !!! sausages are NOT pork ( because its hala Muslim ban) the taste like turkey , the pies are about a 3 if that ( Holland pies would batter them all over) and beef burgers bordering on ridiculous, the barm is OK, the burger pretty poor and the salad was a joke just a tiny prace of lettuce , I have NEVR had a burger with out onions or tomatoes in the salad, if you go just get fish +chips anything related to meat boarding on useless

gravy didn’t taste of anything it was like sewage water, chips were stuck together and pie was dryer than my mums hair after it’s been blow dried.

I recently purchased three regular portions of fish and chips from Queen Vic for my family, and unfortunately, the experience was highly disappointing. The chips were undercooked and tough, and the fish had an nauseating off taste that left us concerned about potential food poisoning. Upon contacting the shop to address this matter, I was met with a dismissive response from the staff. The woman I spoke to seemed to imply that I was attempting to exploit the situation for a refund, which was both insulting and unprofessional. Shockingly, this lack of empathy came from a place where we've been loyal customers, traveling a considerable distance for our meals. Despite being promised a callback from the manager to discuss the issue, I have received no follow-up. To make matters worse, today everyone who consumed the fish and chips is experiencing stomach issues, suggesting a serious lapse in food safety. Given our past positive experiences and the considerable distance we travel to dine at Queen Vic, this incident has been a profound letdown. I would strongly caution others to reconsider spending their money here and explore alternative dining options.

What more can I say. The best chippy. Great Fish & Chips. Fish battered to order. Nice and fresh and crispy batter. Good portion sizes. My go to chippy. By far head & shoulder above the standard. Because it is soo good, I probably eat more fish & chips than I should. Naughty but nice:)

Called in un planned after dropping son to start Uni. Good fish and chips and eat in. Would go again.

Daughter is at University here and the bad thing is it's took almost 2 years before we came here Food was spot on and much cheaper than Warrington chip shops Nice staff as well, glad our girl works in Preston as well so i can come here regularly when we visit

The gluten free fish & chips were excellent & the venue should advertise these better. The other fish & chips were very good & portion sizes are very large

Just been paid £22 for 3 steak puddings chips and gravy. Chips and 2 large sausages the chips and gravy and sausages where brilliant but the steak puddings wher the worst I've ever tasted

Really enjoyed the food here! Very reasonably priced and good quality. This is our 3rd visit in a few weeks…slightly addicted! Only thing I’d say on this occasion was the fish was freshly cooked but needed draining for a few minutes…a bit greasy today but on other occasions it’s been crisp and delicious. Choice of spicy or mild curry sauce. I stuck to mild which is the usual I’d expect at a chippy, might try spicy next time!

went in today ordered haddock and small chips was charged for standard chips. the girl serving was very pleasant. got my meal now haddock 5 50 . the portions now are a lot smaller. and still frozen fish which is no were near as good as fresh. the fish was well overcooked with a massive amount of very hard batter this place is now overpriced going downhill fast. wont be going back.

Popped in on a chilly Friday afternoon needing warming up.. Very clean premises, lovely friendly staff. A huge portion of piping hot chips & Gravy.. Heaven 😁.. The fish looked gorgeous. Need to pay another visit.. Well done Queen Vic

Cone of chips for 1.40p is amazing it's not a cone it's like small tray.chips pretty decent the bad side is the pies are normally microwaved 99% hala so the pastry isn't the best ( no lard ) a Holland pue would batter it all over , the sausages arnt pork the turkey so that's a no no, the curry sauce is about 5 out 10, the best meal to get from the vic is fish and chips,

Visited one evening had 2 small cod,1 large cod,1 large chips and mushy peas. Order taken quickly, reasonable wait for food. This tasted freshly cooked was not greasy and tasted excellent. Prices were reasonable too and portions of a good size.

Not for the first time! Chips were hard, dry and Luke warm, didn’t even melt the butter on the bread. Queen Vic, sort it out!

Well what can i say ! we have tried some fish & chips over the years & I have to say this is the best by far , couldnt fault it in any way , Fish was crispy ( Haddock ) chips well cooked presentation great , portion size massive .Staff very friendly & the shop looks great 5*all round will be back & would highly recommend , you wont be dissapointed.........

Fish and chips always great value and very tasty, however on my recent visit, only 1, (of 5 staff) weaing face coverings, and despite numerous signs insisting customer should wear face coverings, (now a legal requirement), a chap came in without any, was allowed to order and stand in the middle of the shop without being challenged/reminded. As the food is cooked to order, (great}, this situation lasted quite a while. Unfortunately I shall not be returning until things change.

I arrived at the shop and ordered my fish and chips. There was no one before me. 3 minutes after I ordered another customer came to order so I stood and waited outside. He ordered and then also waited outside so I returned. When my order was ready, a very rude woman behind the counter shouted out "Large Fish and Chips". She looked over my head and was clearly addressing the person waiting outside. She shouted again, so I looked over my shoulder to see if anyone else was in the shop and then said to her, "I am the only one here". She ignored me and walked from behind the counter and asked the person outside if he ordered, to which he said no. She came in and I said to her that I think it is mine. She was very rude and said, "why didn't you say so". I said, well I am the only one standing inside waiting for an order, there was no one before me and the other person waiting outside just ordered a few minutes ago. I felt she was clearly being racist. This is not a card I play lightly, but she was white and so was the other customer and I was not. She did not even give us any serviettes. Absolutely appalling service. If this place desires to continue, this lady should not be working there.Looking at other reviews I can see that other customers also had similar rude experience from this woman.

BC (before covid) wife and I went to the Queen Vic at least once a week for a sit down meal, rarely take-away. Today was the first return since covid-19 came about. I phoned to see if they were open as normal but was told it was take-away only. I asked if there was any chance to have a couple of chairs outside so we could eat there as I use a elbow crutch to walk now, unsteadily, and we travel by bus, everbody say aaww. We were sorted with a table and chairs on the pavement, cod and chips were the usual excellent fare.... and we'll be back! Thank you so much. (too many chips!!).

We called in here for our tea. Having read some previous reviews about how good the food was we chanced it. The food was delicious and generous portions. However.... some of the previous reviewers had commented on the less than friendly demeanour of the staff. Well we got the same. Not a smile or welcome in sight. The gruff manner almost made me feel like I was imposing on their day. I'd give them five stars for the food and one star for the attitude thus an average of three.

We visited the Queen Vic a few weeks ago for some lunch and was served by a very rude woman. She was impolite and expressed an unpleasant vibe, I didn't feel welcome at all. Despite the poor service, the fish and chips were delicious, however, I won't be returning.

Had a great meal from here last night. Ordered the Jumbo Sausgae, Chips and Gravy and struggles to finish it, the portion was huge. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The shop seemed clean and the prices were reasonable.

We had just delivered my daughter into her new University flat. Food was then on the agenda for us all.The visit to The Queen Vic Fish and Chip restaurant was and is definately well worthy of mention. The restaurant itself is and nice and light and airy The fish where cooked especially to order and the portion size was indeed a large one.It was a fantastic piece of fish. Cooked to perfection and well worth the small wait for the serving.I'm really looking forward to eating there again. 10 / 10 for me !

Not bad food tasted better though. Small fish was huge and quite tasty although a bit slimy inside in parts. Chips average scollop was OK. Good value for money pretty cheap prices.

Maybe it was just an off day but it just wasn't as good as last time as the chips were rather soggy. Still a very generous amount and very tasty well cooked fish just not quite upto its' previous mouthwatering self! I will certainly try it again next time I am in the area though.

Try Jumbo Sausage, chips and mushy peas/curry sauce at the very reasonable price of £2.70. I have my doubts as to whether there is a tastier version at a better price in Preston.............i fancied chips for a change for lunch & happened upon the vic & have been back 3-4 times & will return again. very good.

Probably the best fish and chips we've ever had. The cod and haddock were both very tasty, crispy and chunky. Traditional chips. Lovely food can't wait to go again. Recommended to loads of people.

This is a spotlessly clean place offering good food and competitive prices which makes my two experiences all the more unfortunate. The first time there seemed to be some kind of passive-aggressive war going on. Tonight was just really rude. My order was taken the the member of staff walked off to take a phone-call. I waited a while then asked the other member of staff. He pointed at the person taking her call. I waited. She returned, still on the phone, I interrupted, repeated my order. It was the kind of rude you have to put effort into. I won’t be back.

Been about four times. The fish and chips are very good. I'm quite particular about were I go for them. It is very clean, and you can also eat in. The shop is run like a well oiled machine, very organised. Each person knows what they are doing.

When I used to study Nursing at UCLan, i would be working 12 hour shifts on my feet and many times i didn't have time for food. But at the end of a long day I would go here and order Chips + Cheese and a large Fish and pay next to nothing compared to other chippie's. The food was always piping hot and cooked well. The portion sizes were tremendous, you definitely got great value for money. The staff were very friendly and the place was sparkling clean. Definitely a must for students who live on or around campus.

Our son is starting at UCLAN in Preston in September and he had already tried the Queen Vic, we were in Preston yesterday and I was treating him to a meal anywhere he wanted so he asked to return here.He had jumbo sausage and a mass of chips and I had mushy peas with double fish, yummy yummy, so tasty. How much? An unbelievable £6, superb value.

My friend and I visited this establishment and it was quality food with excellent service. We arrived just as they opened the food was fresh and tasty. I ordered a large fish and chips with mushy peas it cost £5 I thought that was great value for money. Definitely recommend to go try it if you're a hungry Chippy lover!

Food amazing always taste good get massive portions great value for money. Staff always polite and very friendly and got to say the place is so clean it shines would highly recommend to all. This is the second time i have experienced overcooked fish from this establishment. It was cod in a White barn and there was more batter than fish. It started off really well when it first opened but really gone down in quality. The pictures speak for themselves. Will be reverting to our previous chippy.

Portion sizes are huge which I am not complaining about! The fish tastes absolutely amazing and it's the best quality from fish and chip shops around! I don't go to fish and chip shops where I live anymore as they do not compare, a quick 10 min drive and I can get better quality for a cheaper price! :)

Excellent,fresh food served in a clean environment. Food range for an English Chip Shop is superb. Service is fast. Shop has seating for about 16 people. It is comfortable but only has plastic small forks. Well worth a visit if you enjoy English best. Oh yes has Cod and Haddock.

This is without a doubt the best chippy in Preston.I have eaten here a few times and I always get small fish and chips(which is far from small), mushy pea's and a can of Rio. It comes it at less then £4, what cracking value.

Tried supposedly the best fish and chips in Lancashire last week in Great Eccleston. The fish and chips I have just had from the Queen Vic in Preston on Moor lane beat them hands down! Thin crispy batter, non greasy and perfect chips. Much cheaper price to boot ! I do not eat a lot of fish and chips and know many people who are connoisseurs in the field who would love this place. Highly recommended

The food in Queens is first class The Fish and Chips are So good that I haven't tried the other food on the menu They also have a Burger and Kebab shop next door which is very popular The Chippy is clean and tidy and smells nice You are made very welcome by the extra friendly staff You can eat your food in the shop with no extra charge and they will happily wrap up the food that you cant manage to eat which happens regularly as the portions are beyond enormous We love going to the Queens far too much actually ! and are going again tonight . . . .cant wait

The fish is the best in the area as all the reviews say. The chips are how they should be tasty. But try a large fish with some chips and peas and hot curry sauce. This dish will blow your mind. Beware it's addictive! The hot curry sauce is not too spicy just tasty. Was recommended by the kind and friendly assistants. Customer service is second to none.

Yes this is a bit pricier than other fish and chip shops but the quality is high I tend to ask for a lightly battered haddock, enjoy it better than cod but just a personal preference, you tend to have a wait a bit longer but that is because they don't have fish and chips hanging around for long so always hot and fresh, there isn't any parking nearby because of it being in a student area and spaces always taken, luckily I can visit on foot!!It is Halal though so bear in mind if you tend to have sausage and chips as these are chicken, lots of pies on offer and cod bites always look like a lighter option if you cant manage a full fish - they are massive!!

I drove past this place a few weeks ago and saw the queue outside but I thought it was just because it was handy for the university, then I read the reviews and decided to try it next time I was around. The queue wasn't just because of the university, it was because it was so very, very good. I am used to the portion size in my area (which is on the small side) so ordered large fish and large chips for the 3 of us. Enormous! Tasted wonderful, good quality, well cooked and the servers were happy and cheerful ;only a short wait which was acceptable. My friends and I have raved about this place since our meal. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended. Parking is not good however.

I've listed minutes from QV for 2 and a half years now and tried it for the first time last night. Best pie, chips and gravy I've ever had!! Their chicken and mushroom pie was to die for - amazing sauce rather than the usual goop which does and light tasty pastry; chips perfectly done and I am fussy and gravy of great consistency and not too salty. In the words of Arnie I will (definitely) be back...

Have enjoyed 2 meals from here so far opting for the Cod on the first occasion and the haddock on the second. Fish is of excellent quality, batter is light and crispy and fillets are huge. Chips cooked to perfection and hot curry sauce is delicious. Will be returning soon.

The sausages are a horror story, the flavour much different from a typical chippy taste. That aside, much to praise. The portions are handsome, the curry sauce spicy, the service always with a smile. I have been visiting for some time, it's a good stop off between ale houses, that's for sure.

Preston has several small fish and chip shops, but I don't know of any other where you can eat in, if you so desire.The Queen Vic was recommended but I did not eat in, I chose to take it home.The shop is spotless and the staff very courteous. They had (at lunch time) the option for large or small fish, and I chose small. It was big enough to feed two people, so I dread to think how big the large fish are.Mine was cooked to perfection and not smothered in thick batter. Chips were a bit soggy.It is situated on a main artery in/ out of the city centre and parking is not easy. Well worth a visit, I will return.

Every detail has been thought through from the competitive prices, to the very generous portions. There is even entertainment in the form of "The Food Network" - played on the TV in the shop. The fish itself is actually really tasty and not oily at all, as you can find on other F&C. They have one of the best homemade sauces I have ever tried as well. The hamburgers, pies, and sausages are tasty as well, but the best thing is definitely the service. The treat you as if they were friends with you, always smiling and trying to do the best for you. A must visit!
