Great music Great staff Great drinks Fabby location for nipping away from high street made better with the refurb of the yard.

I worked in Darlington 20 years ago and it was my local and the last time I was there was 12 years ago. I came back for the Blues Weekend and found the place had hardly changed, friendly, great beer and live music. What else can you ask for!

Have been attending this hidden venue for over twenty years, on and off, and am happy to write that it is still easily the best Ale house in town. Good prices, good range of beer and good music on in the background. Love it.

Found this on first visit to Darlington by accident. Great friendly pub, friendly enthusiastic staff, lovely locals. Best covers band I've seen in years: Sound Divide, made my year. Hope to ge back in the future, music is alive and well up here.

I've been going in since August 2021 alone and with others. Excellent staff. Great drinks including from it's own brewery Mad Scientist. Freindly customers. Sells a variety of drinks including soft drinks, real ales and lagers and ciders. Small pub. Dog friendly. Disabled toilet downstairs. Function room and toilets upstairs. Live music bands on some nights. Worth lots of visits. Check the opening hours.

Friendly people and great ales! I had a good chat with the locals and staff and drank 2 pints of Psi - Mad Scientist. Wished I could have stayed longer.

By a mile. I live in Texas but every time I travel to the UK this is my first port of call. Wonderful atmosphere, great live music and a superb selection of real ale. It's the kind of place where strangers make friends.

We only discovered this place a few years ago and it’s a hidden gem, we last visited at the weekend when a band was singing, we have seen them before and loved it last time so had to come back. It’s a very small pub it can get rather busy but the atmosphere is brilliant. More for the over 40’s generation than the younger ones. It’s our type of place music from the 80’s early 90’s this time, they do have other acts on also. Drinks are not too bad either, quick service definitely recommend.

This is a fantastic little venue, offering a great choice of real ales, and live music to boot... Surrounded by like-minded enthusiasts, it has a great atmosphere, it's hard to find the right adjectives... If you like ale and blues/rock/whatever, this is for you... Undoubtably one of the nicest venues I've visited - such a shame I live 200 miles away (I wonder if moving house is an option? I'll suggest this to 'she who must be obeyed' when I get back) Not sure if there's any food on offer...

Called in here for a choice of 8 real ales and ciders! Also had a great blues band on. Stained glass windows also very nice.

Now here is a pub that survives by providing a great choice of real ales and having a good atmosphere but, if you didn’t know it was there you would walk straight past but maybe thats how they want it? Its down an alleyway and just a chalk board outside to provide a clue to what lies through the doorway. Unfortunately non of us could particularly recommend the beer, maybe our poor choice or our tastes are different to what their regulars like. Would have got 5 stars if the beer had been to our liking.

Довольно популярный паб у местных любителей музыки, так как практически 4-5 дней в неделю в нем проходят концерты рок или блюз-групп, весьма профессиональных. Место уютное, в центре, посетители дружелюбны и не агрессивны, независимо от количества потребляемого алкоголя- все-таки, что ни говори, а музыка облагораживает! Качество напитков вполне сносное. Пожелание одно- приходите пораньше, так как сидячих мест мало, а скученность очень большая.

As we were visitors to the area, if we hadn't been shown where this excellent pub was, we would never have found it. A warm welcome and a wide range of well kept ales on offer means that we wil definitely return on our next visit to Darlington.

This is one if the best pubs in Darlington. It is definately a place for one thing, real ale of which there is a wide selection always in top condition. The place is always clean , as far as i know they don't do food and I certainly wouldn't take a child in here. They do have bands on at times but usually this is an excellent place for a quiet drink. It is a little hard to find if you're not from the area, tucked down an alley off the High Row so you're unlikely to come across it by chance but worth seeking out.

Was guided here by beer lovers in other Darlington pubs and just about found it, hidden away down an alley, with no obvious signage. Inside was an enticing row of real beers and a friendly fellow behind the bar, who until recently, it seems, lived quite near me in Cornwall--one of the proprietors is his daughter and he helps out. I chose two dark beers that are brewed on the premises by someone known as The Mad Scientist. One was called Sigma, a dark mild, and the other--maybe a stout, can't remember the name--was even better. For a beer drinker, this is an excellent place to drink in Darlington.

Very nice little pub in an old yard in the historic centre of the town offering a great selection of mainly local real ales, live music filling the small bar on busy nights.

Just off the main town centre down a ginnel. Not a big pub by any means but big enough to have a band on. Has a decent selection of real ales which were in very good condition. We were made to feel welcome and were served in a quick and polite manner. Would certainly come here again.

At the Quaker House you will find great beers, ales and music.

Just off the High Row,down the alley next to Binns, a haven for real ale, and now brewing their own. Don't blame the ale if you see the ghost!

Popped in a couple of times during our weekend in Darlo. Being a real ale fanatic, this is must visit pub with great selection of ales and ciders, friendly bar staff and frequent live music nights

Esta semana hay, aparentemente, cinco bandas. ¿Qué no admirar y cómo lo hacen no sé como no, por la distancia, el mayor pub en el centro de la ciudad de darlington. Ojalá continúe. Si tengo una crítica es la distribución. Carteles en el bar y los mensajes de Facebook a menudo difieren en cuando la banda. Me gustaría que quedaron en una hora de inicio y 8:00 pm 8 significaba más que un sonido de 40 minutos hora y comienza un poco después de las 9:00 pm.

My wife and I were advised to visit this pub when we stayed in Darlington for a couple of nights in July as we both like Real Ale, but we did not stay too long as my wife had bad wind after we ate in a nearby restaurant. Quiet as a door mouse and we were the only customers in the pub !

Got for a few ciders, the live mysic was fantastic and prices very modest. The staf is very pollite and they atract the best customers

Excelente Ale pub con una conciencia social.

Esta es una vieja escuela adecuada auténtico pub de Ale con 10 cervezas de bomba y unas cuantas sidras. Diferentes músicas y banda noches durante la semana en un pequeño pub atmosférico. El personal del bar es amable y siempre tienen una sonrisa con los clientes. Una joya escondida en Darlington.

Great selection of beers and friendly clientele. This pub speaks for itself and it is what it is. We had walked into The Keys and walked straight back out and into the Quakers. Best decision of the day.

In Darlington on business. Was recommended this pub for live music but unfortunately none on the night I went. But the selection of cask ales was second to none. Great local boozer with local people hidden away up an alleyway. Would definitely go again

With a quite hidden location this pub is not known to most people. But if you've been here on a Wednesday night you'll recommend the Quakerhouse to your best friends. Great variations of ale on tap.

We we're brought here with some friends who live locally. I don't think we would have known about it or found it for that matter. It is a proper real ale pub, where there is more real ale than lager types. In fact there were about ten real ales on tap! There are a lot of locals in this pub, but there is a friendly feel. If you are a real ale drinker or CAMRA member this place is a must!

Excellent Real Ale bar, serving 10 beers from various independent breweries from around the country. Very friendly bar staff with good knowledge of beers being served.

Friendly, lots of choice at various strength of ales, stouts & ciders. Only negative thing is it gets rammed because the quality of the product is good!

Great independently owned pub, hidden on Mechanics Yard, good range of real ales from all over England. Regular change of ales with a simple colour code & ABV rating for each pump . Not the easiest place to find but worth the effort, access is via a small passageway next to Binns.

A must visit pub when in Darlington, great range of beers & stouts, careful of the Cider! A real old pub with artisan beers & live music two or three times a week. A very friendly place, every one welcome.
