Fantatsic booked a table in the marquee but was told on arrival there was room indoors so we opted to eat inside away from some unruly doggies that like to bark at everyone, ordered food and drinks all came in good time and the food was delicious well cooked seasoned and just generally yummy. Staff super friendly nothing to much trouble mentioned it was ny birthday which was the reason we weren't doing pudding as I had a birthday cake at home. The cost of one of our pints of cider was knocked off the bill as a birthday treat. This is fantastic and thankyou so much its much appreciated we will be back always a good meal and friendly staff and a decent pint aswell.

Decided to try somewhere new to take my mum for her birthday dinner on Sunday. Booked in advance and arrived to be squeezed onto a table where once I was in, I couldn’t get out. We then waited 1h10 minutes for our meal to arrive. We were given no pre-warning that there was a long wait, no update on the foods arrival. When the roast dinner did finally turn up I was shocked. I asked politely where the Yorkshire puddings were I was told they’d sold out! I was given two hard potatoes that looked as though they’d been under the heater for a few hours and small pile of limp cabbage… the meat.. well the meat was purely a pile of fat. No meat on it at all. Afraid to say we didn’t not eat it and left. The table next to us had been waiting over an hour and half and looked shook when they saw what we had been served. Thankfully Haddon House Hotel fitted us in and even though it was busy we had our meal in 15 minutes. Really wanted to like this cute country pub but you seriously need to work on your food and service. I also suggest you train your staff how to update their customers on food delivery and all general customer service. Dumping the food in front of you and not explaining if things are missing is not on. Nor is expecting people to wait this long and not deliver what is an actually a fairly expensive roast in this area. Wish I’d taken a photo before we left but was starving and annoyed.

Me and a friend went for the afternoon tea on Monday to round off the Bank Holiday, and have a good catch up. Really delicious - great choice of savoury sandwiches, scotch egg (perfectly crispy on the outside with slightly gooey egg), and a sausage roll, followed by scones, jam, cream, Victoria sandwich, and a brownie that almost pushed me over the edge but was so worth squeezing in! We had Pimms alongside it, and as much tea as we wanted. Lovely, smiley, helpful service from our server and a backdrop of live music from a terrific singer. Will definitely come back!!

Absolutely disgusting! Not even worth one star! Daughter took me for lunch for my birthday…took 1 hour 5 mins to come…5 tables were waiting that long.i asked where our Yorkshire puds were…just told they’d ran out…it was a tiny amount of cabbage with 2 tiny rock hard potatoes and a pile of meat fat on top…only worthy of a dogs bowl. There wasn’t a tablespoon of meat there…total heap of fat. Almost made me physically sick just looking at it. £18 they charge foe this too! We just got up and told them to forget it and walked out and booked somewhere else we know that’s worth going to from the car. Looking back, I wondered it was even left over scraps from other peoples plates..I’ve never seen such disgusting so called ‘food’ ever! How are these people allowed to serve this rubbish? Don’t go there…we certainly won’t ever again and make sure others know what it’s like too. No apologies for the long wait or offer of any kind to replace the Yorkshire either.

Arrived for lunch. Had a very warm welcome from Alex. We had lunch inside the pub which has loads of character. The food was very reasonably priced and delicious. After lunch the sun was shinning so we went outside which is a real gem. The band in the marque were brilliant, we were enjoying ourselves so much we totally lost track of time and ended up staying until almost closing time. All the staff were so attentive and professional. We have recommended to many friends and all those that have been loved it. Will go back when next in Bridport.

As locals who haven't dined at this pub in years, we decided to book a table for 9 to celebrate my nan's birthday, based on positive reviews we'd seen on Facebook. Unfortunately, our experience fell short of expectations. Upon arrival, we waited a considerable amount of time for our drinks to be taken, and there weren't enough menus for everyone. Although several specials were out of stock, we understood that this time of year can be busy. When the waitress took our order, my nan (who is very elderly) chose ham, egg, and chips. Shortly after, we were informed that the pork apricot was unavailable, so we changed the order to fish. We waited quite a while for our food, and when it arrived, my nan's meal was missing, along with a portion of potatoes and a side salad. Despite waiting, we had to start eating, as my nan's food took so long to arrive that we were nearly finished with our meals by the time it did. The manager assured us her meal would be removed from the bill. However, the salad and potatoes were still missing, and when they finally came, we had already finished eating. The manager promised to remove the potatoes from the bill as well. Throughout the entire meal, we were not asked if we wanted any additional drinks or water, which was disappointing. The burgers, priced at £18, were mediocre and looked like they came from a burger van. The chicken Kiev, though tasty, was just a chicken breast on a salad, with no fries, additional potatoes, or vegetables, which felt so overpriced. After we finished, the gentleman offered my nan a free pudding and provided two brownies for the table to share. Unfortunately, the brownies were dry, and the accompanying ice cream was melted. My nan’s Eton mess was topped with what appeared to be watercress, which turned out to be fruit leaves, but their peppery taste overwhelmed the dessert. The bill totaled nearly £200 for two pizzas, three burgers, fish and chips, chicken breast on salad, and two pizzas shared by two couples. My gin and lemonade cost £9.50, which felt excessive. While we appreciated the gestures of removing my nan's meal and offering the three desserts, the overall experience was very disappointing, and we will not be returning. The evening was such a shame we were so looking forward to finally coming to this pub and for such a special occasion it was such a let down. I would recommend Rise in Westbay to other people thinking of dining here, although the same in price the quality is night and day compared to our experience tonight.

I absolutely love this place, everyone seems so friendly & the garden is absolutely beautiful! I took my partner here for Father’s Day as his son didn’t bother with him today. We sat in the sun, was beautiful. Ordered our meals & mine came out, when the waitress brand mine over she seen we had no cuttlery so got us some & whilst bringing it back asked if I wanted any sauces etc.. bearing in mind it took time each time doing this… Anyway I hate moaning! But I had eaten my whole meal before my partners come out 😭 His meal had walked up and down the garden 4 times before arriving to the table, he asked the waitress if that was his walking around & she replied ‘no it’s a fresh one’ that was an absolute lie! Anyway, it was cold & he went into speak to a lovely lady behind the bar who apologised & gave him a refund & was lovely! So thank you to this lady 🥰 It was just really poor as I paid £18 for my meal which wasn’t that warm but fine as I decided to sit outside! But I ate alone when it was a treat for my partner who didn’t even end up eating. Preying this was just a bad waitress & it won’t happen again as love the place!

Lovely looking pub with a big garden which lends well to a sunny afternoon. Tried this pub a few times and it seems to be struggling with an identity. Service is rather poor. Prices very high.. but there lies another issue. Food seems to be straddling the line between gastro pub and restaurant and not doing either particularly well. Talking to other locals it's not what they want either. Ordered a ploughmans last weekend which was missing alot of the traditional pieces and the bread.. ciabatta! Should never be served on a ploughmans.

Stunning beer garden, often with live music and outside bar in the summer that can accommodate lots of people, plenty of sensible parking too. Superb staff and Alex was attentive and knowledgeable about the drinks, actually paying an interest to what you might like in a beer or wine before offering advice, a very welcome change to most pubs. The best thing for me is finding a pub that not only has decent beers on tap but has plentiful choice too! Brilliant. So many pubs now don't care about the beer, well The Pymore does care. Can't wait to eat here soon. Cheers, Alex and team! Matt (with the French bulldog). 👌

There were 7 of us visiting for Sunday lunch whilst on holiday in the area. Overall this was a really nice and relaxed experience with good food, good beer and in a lovely traditional inn. All of the staff were super friendly and helpful and the local beers delicious. The food was very well prepared and presented. The only thing stopping it being a 5 for us (if you could award 4.5 we would) is the fact that three of our party were vegetarian and the menu was quite limited in choice with just one main course. On our visit it was beetroot wellington which two of the group thought was delicious but, one of the party does not like beetroot. The chef did off a bean and vegetable dish but in the end, she opted for just the Sunday roast vegetables. She did say it was delicious but, it would be better if there was more choice. That said, I totally get that for some places, they are unable to offer an expansive menu so it’s a tricky balance. Anyhow, we did have a lovely time and we would definitely return if we visit the area again in the future.

A great location with a lovely pub garden and good parking, the food was a bit on the pricey side but nice so I suppose you get what you pay for! The majority of staff were lovely but there didn’t seem to be enough of them and service was slow especially considering it was mid-afternoon and the pub was at least half empty, the pub was also dealing with shortages of glasses, cutlery and condiments. However we were there for a celebration and they were accommodating to most of our needs and dealt with any problems relatively promptly. Unfortunately I personally didn’t have a good experience as one particular member of staff who might have been the landlord seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem, he was polite at first but when the party went up to pay he told them to go back to their table and wait for them to come to us (not what you want to be told when a large group of you have made the effort to come to the bar and seen other groups paying there!). We were celebrating an occasion and had a bit of wrapping paper left at the end, which I didn’t want to just leave behind at the table and expect them to deal with, but before taking it home I wanted to see if there was the option of disposing of it properly with the pub. I found a bin at the pub entrance which looked like a general bin and suitable to dispose of it but as this turned out to be a glass recycling bin, I politely asked him whether he could please help me dispose of it. He then proceeded to tell me off for wanting to put the paper in the glass bin (I didn’t put it in there!), told me the pub only dealt with food waste (I used to run several pubs, I know that isn’t true!) and then asked if I was from the cottages up the road. When I explained that I was actually a guest (and he had already served me), his demeanour changed slightly and he kindly took the paper but proceeded to tell me I shouldn’t go sticking it in other people’s bins, before he went back to having a fag with friends in the middle of the pub garden. I am a very polite person who identified a bin that looked like it was for guests to use but didn’t use it when it turned out to be unsuitable and if I had known how I would have been spoken to I would have never have even considered asking and just taken it home (which I didn’t mind doing to begin with!). I left shaken up and in tears, I would have complained but seeing as I was there on a special occasion with family and friends I did not want to ruin the event for everyone. I appreciate that pubs are run to a tight budget and waste disposal is expensive, but if throwing away a couple of sheets of wrapping paper wasn’t possible I would have readily just accepted that if told politely.. I only asked if it was possible. I think there are a lot of good things about this pub and I am sure others may have better experiences but this was mine and sadly I won’t be returning.

A return visit having heard about new managers and following on from a less than impressive experience in August. I will say straight away that I enjoyed my roast dinner. However it was still overpriced at £17.50. That said, in relative terms and matched against other pubs in Bridport it was worth the difference. The food was very well cooked and very well served except that the meat was covered in gravy when, to suit all preferences it should have been in a gravy boat. The vegetables each had its own distinct flavour unlike some places that boil the life out of them. The wine list is very good and reasonably priced and there is a good selection of beers and real ales. The service was patchy, no sooner had our starters of olives arrived our main course was upon us. We had hoped for a leisurely lunch! I also almost choked on a piece of string which I had to extradite before accidentally swallowing (didn't see it - covered in gravy!) I did not make a fuss but politely told the landlady who seemed oblivious to the potential seriousness.

We had a lovely table by the fire for supper, a warm welcome and prompt, cheerful service. The starters were imaginative and beautifully presented, I had cured salmon with a quail's egg, light and appetising as it should be, not a meal in itself. The belly of pork for mains was full of flavour, on a bed of mash and interesting vegetables. Most of their wines can be ordered by the glass, which means a good choice without excess expense. Altogether a very pleasant evening and I would not hesitate to take friends there again.A note on booking - with the rather strict rules on opening hours now, it is necessary [and only polite] to arrive on time for your table. As we were finishing, a couple arrived fifteen minutes late without having told the staff, and were quite offensive when advised that regrettably the kitchen had closed. I'm on the side of the staff, who have a major cleaning/sanitising regime each evening after customers like us have gone home. Well handled, Pymore Inn people.

Having enjoyed food and drinks at the Pymore, our small group of friends chose to visit again, as the weather was good and the garden is a lovely setting. The menu is pretty small and so not a huge choice at the moment, which is fine. However, when ordering, we were told that the beer of choice was not available and the bavette steak was not available, but could be replaced with a rump steak for £3 extra. Once we had placed our order, we were then informed that the ham hock croquettes were no longer available! The meals came, but the country pizza was missing. The waitress said there was a mistake with the order and that the country pizza was no longer available. We asked for a prawn pizza as an alternative - not available. So, the bianca was requested and we were told 'we should have that'. By the time the pizza arrived, the others in the party had finished their meal and the pizza was actually a Margherita... and not a very nice one at that! When the staff saw that I hadn't enjoyed the pizza, they apologises and agreed there had been mistakes made and I was offered a free drink, but as we were about to leave, I couldn't accept it. We were charged full price for the meal. The other 2 in our group enjoyed their meals, albeit they were overpriced, but really the Pymore Inn should do better. If many of the meals on a limited menu are not available, customers should be told on arrival or table bookings shouldn't be taken. The staff were very young and had no clue what was going on. We were even asked to work out how much our £60 bill would be if we split it 3 ways, because the waitress didn't have a calculator! All in all, a very disappointing experience!

After our first visit, my wife and I returned twice more to the Pymore Inn. It is an easy walk from the nearby Bridport Bingham Grange Caravan & Motorhome site. We were recognised by the staff on arrival and made to feel very welcome. There was a clear registration and sanitisation process before we could go to our table in the garden, which made us feel very secure. The service this time was spot on, and there was a better selection of beers in addition to the wine list.We both tried the Pymore Burger. Although expensive for a burger, it was all locally sourced and the addition of smoked cheese was great. This time there were 'proper' chips and they were wonderfully crisp outside and fluffy within.I also tried the Bavette Steak on one visit. It was substituted for a Rump Steak but was very nicely cooked and supplied with a side salad, chips and Bearnaise sauce. Now 'Eat out to Help Out' has ended, would I return. Yes, I think so.

The setting here is fabulous. The pub is old and lovely and the large garden is surrounded by rolling hillsThere are lots of staff to take your orders and they are all very cheerfulThey play some great music over the sound system from the 1960s and 1970sSo going here for a drink in the early evening (beer-O-clock) is a joy and we have done this several timesOnly disappointment is the food. We ate here on Tuesday lunchtime and we both ordered steaks. The steaks were undercooked and not very good quality (they were tough and hard to cut)Enough said. We will definitely we going back for a beer / wine but not to dineTo tempted to eat here again The Pymore would really have to step up !

As for the beer they didn't even know what was on.Maybe it was a bad night. Also too many people wandering around joining other tables, hardly social distancing.

Today we went to the Pymore Inn after being recommended by the gentleman's air b and b we are staying in. We were politely told the food would be running later and had to be told the garden kitchen wouldn't be serving food for another 45 minutes which was fine with us. Unfortunately it was rather chilly, and we were all seated outdoors so jackets had to come with us too! The service was lovely from start to finish and staff were attentive when need by. The food was delicious off the garden menu, I myself had the steak and my partner had the crab linguine. The steak was so juicy and delicious and the portions of food was fantastic! Even better news was that the restaurant participated in the governments eat out help out scheme. But we would have quite happily paid regardless as we intended to go here even before we knew. Highly recommend if you are visiting!

We visited here during corona isolation this meant that there was no indoor seating. We hadn't been told this when we booked. The place has been recommended to us. Not long after we arrived the sun went in and the rain camep down hard. We had already ordered, so we ate our meal as quickly as possible under golfing umbrellas. We were cold and wet. We ordered pizzas which the children loved, burger and a nice tomato and mozzarella cheese salad. The staff here are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful.

Whilst camping near by we stopped on route into Bridport. We had only planned to stop for a drink and a rest, but the service was so welcoming and the menu so tempting that we stayed for lunch. The Caesar salad was delicious and our 7 year old enjoyed the squid so much she ordered a second portion. We stopped again on the way home and the change over in staff were just as welcoming and professional as at lunch. We will definitely return when next in the area

Although open under new ownership for about a year, due to lockdown we've not had a chance to visit. The easing of lockdown allowed us to give it a go.Currently, all meals are served outside but the seating area is really large with a correspondingly large car park. The place was virtually full when we arrived at 7pm with a mix of drinkers and diners. It seems to attract a youngish crowd. The menu is fairly typical 'casual dining' with an emphasis on pizzas and burgers. We had a well cooked and presented bavette & fries and a salmon Caesar salad - also well presented. Staff are friendly and helpful and, for such a busy place, our meals arrived without to long a wait.Given restrictions in place, it's probably too early to judge the menu - I guess they'll serve what's popular. However, the outside kitchen is relatively small, so I don't see that changing much.Overall a good place for a casual evening out in very pleasant surroundings

We went to the Pymore Inn yesterday as we were staying nearby. We had the most fantastic lunch sitting in their beautiful garden. Service was exceptional, staff being friendly and “ on the ball” . We opted for the Sunday roast. It was amazing, Devon Ruby Red beef, cooked fairly rare(as we like it). with Yorkshire puddings and roast potatoes plus a very good selection of vegetables. All superbly cooked and presented. The whole experience at the Pymore Inn was one to be repeated and very soon.

Our second visit to the new Pymore Inn and the experience was a lovely as our first visit. Last time we had a cosy winter Sunday lunch but this time we enjoyed a fantastic meal in the new beer garden (fairy lights, fire pit & an outside bar). The staff were extremely efficient, friendly and welcoming and our party of ten all had wonderful food and drinks. Social distancing was well managed and everything felt very safe. We arrived and our table we had reserved wasn’t actually reserved. There was a smashed glass under the table, later on through the evening we were accused of smashing the glass which was funny as we had told them about the smashed glass about 2 hours prior. Then the manager (Sarah) I think accused people of wrong doing but couldn’t specifically say what they had done so our first evening out after lockdown was absolutely terrible and I would advise people to steer clear of this place!

We had our engagement meal here and it was perfect! The staff were attentive and we had an incredible waiter and waitress who checked in regularly clearing glasses, bringing drinks and water, taking our orders and just generally being wonderful. The drinks selection was great with lots of local ales and beers on tap & all the glasses, crockery and cutlery were super clean. The pub itself is beautiful, we love the way its decorated with local coastal themed art and the toilets clean. The pub was warm and cosy. Everyone in the pub was friendly and happy, lots of smiling faces from both staff and punters. We loved that there was free Wifi as there is no signal in Pymore! The food was amazing, I had three courses and each was faultless and incredibly tasty! Two family members are gluten intolerant and more than half the menu was suitable for them so they were happy. Everyone was happy with their food and some of them can be fussy. We didn't bring our dogs on this occasion but we love the fact that they are welcome! The garden looks great for summer! We love the string lights outside and the fire pit will be amazing for summer evenings! We will 100% be back, as soon as possible!

We called in midweek for lunch. Nicely appointed pub, friendly welcome. Pizza was good but chips were dreadfully greasy. I couldn’t work out what had gone wrong. We were the only people eating there and couldn’t help but overhear the barmaid loudly describing a medical operation in detail. I was completely put off eating but had to sit with a plate of greasy chips in front of me as no one cleared the table. My husband had to carry our plates back to the bar. Disappointing.

We used to visit this pub many years ago and as it has now been taken over by a person who seems to be buying Bridport we thought why not give it a try. A lunchtime visit. Perfectly good welcome although pub was cold, the fire was eventually lit. Good selection of drinks but no large fruit juice (J2O) available. We were also surprised there were no sandwiches or snacks available at lunchtime or at least we were not offered any. This is poor.We ended up having a full plate meal. Risotto good but fish and chips poor: very greasy chips overcooked and prepared much earlier, fish frozen I think with unremarkable batter, very disappointing. Not as good as we expected I am afraid especially after the hoopla and publicity, there is much better food available in nearby pubs.

We visited as a group of 4 for dinner Saturday evening. Starters were OK but it all started falling apart with the main course. 2 of the party ordered the baked fish, which were very dry with a dollop of orange paste on (no idea what it was supposed to be, it was tasteless). I ordered duck breast supreme, which was overcooked and tough. The potatoes were pan fried new potatoes, very overcooked and almost burnt. We had ordered 2 sides of chips, which we had to ask for twice, by the time they arrived 2 of the party had finished their meals. OK it was Saturday evening and so it was a little busy, but its not a huge restaurant. Tip to the chef - don't bother applying for masterchef.

We were staying very locally and having checked out the impressive menu, went along to the Pymore Inn for our evening meal. The food was nice, starter and cheese board were of generous proportions. However we did feel that the menu description had a little poetic licence as it gave an impression of being a high end bistro affair. In fact it was staple pub offerings. The bar staff were welcoming and the cook took an interest that we had enjoyed our meal.

Booked a meal here on a very chilly, wet night, mid week. Not been before but heard it was under fairly new ownership, so wanted to try it out. OMG what a treat!! Not dagger cheap but we'll worth a tiny bit extra. The food is unusual without being outlandish or pretentious and beautifully cooked. We started with salmon and a terrine and then had steak and lamb cutlets, both very tasty alongside a nice variety of fresh veg. Not too much either. My first choice of starter wasn't available so the chef came and appologised personally and suggested other options he could make for me!! Really nice friendly service from two young men and a final chat with the chef before we left. Yes, they had plenty of time to chat as it was a quiet night, but they didn't have to. A cosy atmosphere. Definitely going back, thanks to all the staff.

We called in with friends to see the brilliant band Jess Upton and the guilty pleasures, which started early at 7.15...Really good idea as it brought families etc into the pub. Drinks service insuide was to say the least somewhat erratic and this is due to poor training. Customers should be served in order of them copming to the bar, not ordering the ones you know first! Eye contact with custoners is really important so that they know that that you know they are waiting. Our friends ordered food, very simple burger and chips but I am afaaid its was luke warm when it arrived. This pub has had some great investment but the asthetics are not everything staff training and service has to be worked as well. So the reason behind having plastic glasses is for health and safety reasons according to the person I spoke to on the telephone. They don't want children or dogs being lacerated by glass out in the garden! I wonder if the price board says wine by the plastic? Obviously attracting young families rather than the mature person who wants a decent wine in a decent glass. Shame as the enormous walled garden has quality tables and chairs. Live music or d.j. at 7.00 on occasions. Food looked good with moules mariniere on the menu when we visited. Give us the option of glass and we will return. I decided on a soda water rather than wine which was served in a hot plastic 'glass'

After visiting a couple of years ago and vowing never to return, we were told that the pub is under new ownership and now welcomes dogs. So, armed with Buster the shorkie, we decided to put it to the test on Tuesday lunchtime. A lovely, friendly welcome. Dog bowl available. Staff were excellent and eager to help. Yes, the lunch menu isn't huge, but there's certainly enough to choose from. I had a giant portion of moules frites, cooked as well as you'd get in France and my wife had a lovely pizza, obviously homemade from scratch, which she said was delicious. Besides, a small, expertly cooked menu is better than a big menu of microwaved mass catering.
