Lovely little restaurant tucked away in Wellington. Food, mocktails and service all amazing. They had a few popular board games which kept the kids entertained as they waited for the food.

Exceptional. Food was really good, affordable, high quality and quick. We got some excellent cocktails and home made tiramisu. The place has outdoor seating, covered in case of rain. The service is quick and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is relaxed and there's ample space between tables. It's a fantastic quiet, cozy place with excellent food. Highly recommended!

Stunning food, an absolute gem of a place. Loved the attention to detail and the sense that every piece of food and every bottle of wine is so carefully selected. We went for dinner, driving in you go through an industrial estate and we were worried we were lost. We then saw The Pump House. Its decor is cool and it has a great outdoor area for drinks and food. The menu is mainly Italian, we didn’t have pizza but they looked incredible. The owner was lush and came out to speak to us about how he had developed the Pump House. We also met his very cute and very well trained dog! We had the burger and the seafood pasta and it was incredible! The portions were generous! We managed to share a Tiramisu which was also stunning. The cocktails were great and a good selection of wine. A really relaxed atmosphere that was friendly and the staff could not have been more attentive and friendly. We only wish we live closer to visit more often. If you want gorgeous food and a causal but cool place to eat, check it out.

Not a huge menu but this is a good thing. There’s a lot of Italian influence and dishes with a couple of other specials chucked in. It seems to be as well known locally for its cocktails as well as the food. We were lucky with the weather so sat outside, as did almost every other customer the early evening we were there. It’s so laid back and friendly and the staff go the extra yard. Try the tiramisu - it’s awesome

A rare gem nestled within a disused Pump House on the outskirts of Wellington. As passersby, this was a lucky find after a desperate Google search for something beyond the usual, mundane British cuisine of fish and chips or chicken tikka masala! The main man and his chef Franko, oh and not forgetting Ray the Labrador, made us feel so incredibly welcome. It was like going home to my Nonna’s house! Real consideration given to the authenticity of produce that they used to create such simple yet satisfying meals. From homemade olives and olive oil produced by their families in Italy to imported produce straight from Italy. We are thrilled to be so well looked after, had we have had more time, we would have tried more of their delicacies. This is food which we will crave and make sure we revisit to satisfy our taste buds! Grazie Mille 🫶

An interesting venue, with dining spaces inside and out. Glad the car park has now been tarmaced! We all enjoyed our food and the service was good. Would recommend a visit.

This place is amazing, and the story behind it... to think it was an abandon building, it's crazy the amount of work that Stefano has put in to transform it! The restaurant is fun and cosy, the staff is ever so cheerful, welcoming and friendly... The food is amazing. We enjoyed our meal and had great evening so thank you Stefano and the team! Will be visit again next time we're down in Exmoor.

What a fantastic find. Some of the finest pasta I've had since Sorrento. Lovely staff, a wonderful atmosphere. It's not cheap but it is very good value for money. Definitely going back.

First time at The Pump House this evening, fabulous location and great atmosphere, front of house staff were great and very friendly. Great selection on the bar and reasonably priced too. Food was amazing, if you like proper Italian food and not the English take on it this is the place for you. Sent compliments to the chef and couldn't eat my main (seafood pasta of the day) fast enough!! Will definitely be back. Well done to the whole team and good luck going forward.

After reading some of the reviews , you can't please everyone in life all I know is that the staff work so hard ,it's a stressful job sometimes you break we only human knowing what I know & have been told by other Wellington people the Pump house family have worked hard to keep it going in this tough and stressful time for the owner Stefano there is light at the end of the tunnel for you just keep doing what your doing xx

Great food and drinks! I would recommend anything from the menu because every single item that I've tried so far was delicious. I was also blown away by the talent behind the bar. He is nothing short of brilliant, crafting each cocktail with a masterful touch. It's not just a drink, it's an experience. High level of service and friendly atmosphere. First Time for us really enjoyed the food.

My partner and I came here last night for dinner. The staff were knowledgeable, friendly and very welcoming. The food was to die for! We will definitely come back when we're near the area again. They were fully kitted out for Halloween and the decorations were incredible.

Such a shame it would have been a wonderful 40th birthday celebration dinner if it wasn’t for the ‘ramseys kitchen nightmares’ crazy and aggressive behaviour from the chef/owner. The location was fab and funky, the waitress was so lovely, the best cocktails and most of the food was awsome - pizzas were the nicest we’ve had. Unfortunately two of our group ordered the ribs special which were inedible- it was like they’d been boiled in salt water. When asked how the food was because he hadn’t eaten it he explained and the nice waitress immediately offered to take them back to the kitchen. We could see through into the open kitchen an argument between the waitress and the chef. He then marched over to our table in a very aggressive manner pointing at us all and then proceeded to ‘belly bump’ my husband and threaten to ‘knock him out’ and said we all needed to leave! The ladies were in tears and very shaken by the whole experience, never in my life have i witnessed such extreme aggressive behaviour from a chef over someone politely explaining when asked why he hadn’t eaten his dinner that he didn’t like it - were all still in shock to be honest. I have it on video on my phone and am still considering reporting the incident to the police as this is not acceptable. Again would like to thank the lovely waitress who was very apologetic about it all and even fetched my amazing birthday cake that they had organised to be made by a local patisserie. Such a shame a lovely evening and birthday celebration had to end in such a bizarre manner.

Wow, what a mixed bag! FOH staff were accommodating and friendly.. Chef/owner absolute lunatic. Food very similar. One of the best starters I’ve ever had, Panko Prawns followed by a delicious pepperoni pizza, (when it finally arrived), order was missed, so come out 15 minutes after everyone else’s mains.. On the flip side of this was the ribs. Bland, flavourless, extremely salty. Looked like they had been boiled in a broth. Unfortunately the ribs were sent back to the kitchen and the waitress said they would be taken off the bill, this wasn’t necessary but more a gesture of good will from the lovely waitress… 10 minutes later whilst everyone else was enjoying their main, a very angry, rude, confrontational chef appeared at the table.. What then followed was shocking, squaring up to 2 of the party members, shouting obscenities like ‘I will f***ing knock you out, get out my f***ing restaurant!! FOH staff, panko prawns, mussels, pizza, the noodles and cocktails all worthy of a 9/10 marking.. Chef/owner, ribs and the organic cola 1/10 and that’s being polite.. There’s ways of dealing with constructive criticism, shouting and screaming in front of a busy restaurant isn’t one of them.

What a find! We were somewhat perplexed when we pulled into what appeared to be just your average industrial estate, but perplexion soon turned to intrigue when we observed the historical building that is The Pump House! We were in awe of the building externally and equally so upon entry. The décor is quirky and interesting, drawing the eye to every corner. The staff, in particular Matt, I believe his name was 🤔, was knowledgeable on the history of the place and, of course, the menu which was as impressive as our surroundings. The diversity and range of dishes was admirable and captivating. Each mouthful was a treat for the tastebuds. The ingredients were well balanced and of high quality. We could really taste the freshness, as well as the thought and effort that had gone into our dishes. Thank you so much and we can't wait to visit against.

Lovely meal, polite attentive staff.

This place is amazing, I have been here a few times already and it never disappoints. Everything from the service, food and atmosphere is top quality. The staff made sure I was comfortable by bringing me some cushions out to sit on, as due to a spine injury I find it difficult sitting on a normal chair. Also they made you feel extremely relaxed from the moment you get there and make your whole experience an enjoyable one. The food is so fresh and tasty, I didn't want to leave any of it. I will definitely be going back there again and will be recommending it to everyone.

Staff said they were too busy to bring bread when asked if we could have some with our meal. No oil for pizza, they don’t do it apparently. Food was nice but pricey, cocktails very expensive.

I had a pretty average meal and overall experience here, and when I gave it a quick review on my instagram, The Pump House messaged me directly to give me grief! I have attached a screenshot of my review just to show that it was even overly negative! Absolutely appalling customer service and has resulted in me never wanting to visit again. If you have a look at how management have responded to some other negative reviews, you’ll see I’m not the only one!!

This place is inspiring. I rocked up with my mate when this was not actually open. Stephan gave us a tour and told us about he restored the building into a beautiful restaurant & Bar. Such an amazing place, he described the historical importance of this area. Also gave us uRbExS the deets of exploring the area. Such an epic Guy.

Exemplary. This was my second visit having been before shortly after opening with friends and promising my wife I would take her, after several things got in the way we finally made it tonight. The front of house service from Matt was at a level rarely seen and would not have been out of place in a top London restaurant. He is clearly a pro in the business and running an extremely tight ship. The food from Stefano was just as good, made with quality ingredients and served in healthy sized portions. What really put the icing on the cake was Stefano presenting my 14 month old boy with a bowl of strawberries and blueberries whilst we enjoyed our mains. This was completely a surprise but very much welcomed. My wife very much enjoyed a rare night out and we left with full bellies and smiles all round.

The food is beautiful, the service is amazing and the atmosphere is wonderful. We went to The Pumphouse to celebrate two birthdays and are so glad we chose this place. The food is next level and very reasonably priced. The service was wonderful and we were made to feel very welcome (we had asked for space alongside our table for a pushchair and this was no problem at all). This place is easily the best dining experience in Wellington. 5* - we will definitely be back and we’ll tell all our friends. Thank you for a perfect evening.

We’ve eaten here on several occasions but not for some time - previous meals have always been good but I’m not quite sure what’s changed as our latest experience was really disappointing. Menu looked and sounded good but just didn’t deliver. Polenta and mushroom starter was very tasteless (and way too much polenta) and the main course of ribs was worse. Very odd tasting and over seasoned meat and sloppy, watery coleslaw. Fries were decent. The most annoying part of our experience though was the head barman - loud and intrusive (we unfortunately sat right next to the bar) and his cocktails were 80% ice and very little alcohol/mixer. When I asked for less ice in my 2nd drink, I heard him ask another member of staff to simply put more lime juice in it thus diluting the spirit even further. £91 for a very average meal for 2. Can I suggest you go back to a more simplified menu done really well as you have previously? Sadly it’s unlikely we’ll be back as it just isn’t what it used to be.

Brilliant service, the food came out quickly, friendly atmosphere which made me feel welcome, really good and friendly with my 7 year old brother, the food quality was amazing, really worth the money spent, the staff were very friendly and where very focused in making sure everyone got what they had ordered, the inside seating area made me feel relaxed because it wasn’t too light but not to dark, the music was soothing which made me enjoy my meal even more. Will definitely be coming back!! I would 100% recommend going to the pump house!

This is a gem hidden in what looks like a cluster of derelict historical buildings on the edge of Chard. A varied menu of Italian, Greek and Mexican inspired dishes and a decent bar with some interesting cocktails. Excellent service and food.

Lovely and quirky pub on the edge of Wellington. Don't get confused by the location. Once you turn in, keep going to the bottom and then to the right. Excellent decor and setting. You will find a very well stocked bar with a variety of fun and delicious cocktails, a menu offering something for every palate and excellent service. The Chilli beef loaded fries were super tasty and the portion didn't disappoint. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Sadly poor service. Half of the menu wasn't available. Lots of staff, but trying to get someone's attention was impossible. We were served our meals but weren't given cutlery for 5-10minutes after without apology. The food wasn't much different to chain restaurants yet much more costly. We had our starters and just before our mains arrived we were told one of the dishes wasn't available. However we weren't provided with another menu which meant that we had to guess what was available. Won't be returning which is a shame as we had high hopes, given the other positive reviews.

Such a great gem for Wellington. Food is always delicious and cooked freshly and seasonal ingredients with different choices on the specials menu which keeps it interesting. The staff are very friendly, enthusiastic about the menu and choices and attentive throughout the meal. The cocktails are out of this world! It has a great atmosphere and is always very busy. Only criticism (at the risk of now being blasted on here by the owner!) is that the acoustics could be made better, we were a table of 4 and could hardly hear each other. Maybe some soft furnishings or some fabric up in the high ceilings would help? Also when we arrived and it was clearly already quite busy, the waiting staff were a bit frantic, almost running around the restaurant, knocking over a chair and bringing the wrong food/drinks to our table. It didn't make for a relaxing start to the meal. As the night went on, it did calm down! That being said, we think it is great and will definitely be returning with friends and family.
