Amazing! Lovely food, and really friendly staff. We had some of the seafood dishes which were great and fresh tasting. My partner had the pistachio canolo and said they were the best pudding he'd ever eaten.

Service was awful, maybe the owners think more of the drunk locals than two business men who just want a quiet dinner. Who knows! Better eateries around by far. What a shame though as was staying local. Food was average had better Italian at my local , just can't get over the service!

Last minute decision, and it was a good one. Friendly staff, hot tasty food, nice surroundings. VERY nice wine. There are plenty of places inside and outside to eat. You don't feel rushed. They gave us a box to take home the food we couldn't finish. When leaving, we told them it was a last-minute decision to celebrate our anniversary, and they treated us to a lemonchello There was so much on the menu that we did, like, we will return for more.

We decided to sit outside in the garden as it was so hot and we’re enjoying our food and drinks until a couple decided to change their baby’s nappy on the grass near to our table. It was extremely off putting to say the least. A disappointing meal.

I have been twice to the restaurant. The first time I had a reasonable risotto. The second time I went with my step mother who had the Sunday toast that caused her to be sick. I will not be returning to eat here, based on this experience.

Quick and friendly service with really generous portions. We were here on Business and really enjoyed our meal. I recommend the scallops and the Stone bass.

Unfortunately too loud in the beer garden for my liking! It seems like a bunch of guys has taken over a place. Couple of times I had been there it's been similar. It's a shame but I think it's needing up it's vibe.

Had the pleasure of having dinner here when we were staying at a beautiful airB&B nearby. The food was great, the service was superb, and the venue was beautiful! Highly recommended! 👌🇮🇹

Inviting atmosphere. Friendly staff. We had the burrata with bread—delicious and authentic. Then we had spaghetti with bolognese meat sauce—delicious. And the lasagna—all very tasty. Has a lovely outdoor garden in a delightful quiet village. A hidden gem.

Absolutely lovely food, friendly atmosphere+brilliant service. We had a table of 10 people, who had starters, mains+desserts. Even with so many various dishes ordered no-one was left waiting. Would highly recommend.

Most expensive dish in the main course, "Rack of Lamb" turns out to be two tiny chops. Very mis-leading and a clear rip off. I paid the bill and far from my table, I politely asked the Head Waiter to address this with the management. He followed me to my table and made a scene in front of my 13 year old daughter. Awful experience POST SCRIPT: Having read the proprietors response to my review, I can agree that I went to the bar and bought whiskey and drank it; everyone who knows me knows I drink whiskey, including my family. The rest of the proprietor's reply is entirely fabricated and it's a shame he's decided that resorting to character assassination is preferable to listening. I did not address his staff other than to politely order food and drink. I waited until the end of the meal to raise my observation and I did this well away from everyone in the dining area. I spoke to him AFTER I had paid the bill and left a good tip. In fact, I did everything possible to be discreet and polite; then the proprietor followed me all the way back to my table and started to deliver an embarrassing lecture in front of my daughter, at which time I asked him curtly to leave and he did. At no time was I abusive, drunk or belligerent. The fact that the proprietor chooses to address this by fabricating stories tells everyone a lot more about him than it does me. He clearly does not like to hear from anyone and is prepared to use embellishments to cover his tracks. Basillico is a good restaurant and since my review I've recommended it to several people without hesitation. But I won't take down this review in order to hide the childish story this person chooses to make up about me. Anyone who wants to speak to him themselves can decide what to believe; I am not alone in this experience.

We came here several times last summer and the food was great and value for money. Did a five star review on FB then. Tonight we came for a birthday celebration and unfortunately it’s not as good now. Food took forever to come. My Husband had the squid infused ravioli with Sea Bass. Six tiny bits of ravioli and a bit of sea bass you could lose in a filling, looked completely lost on the plate and for £26 was an absolute rip off. No check back to the table. Three of us had Salmon - nice pieces of salmon, dumping of green leaves, slice of lime, chips and sauce.But all three plates had very different portion sizes. Other dishes were nice looking and well presented. Desserts were good. Waiting staff were attentive, other staff (Managers possibly) just sitting around.

What a lovely find this was! We were staying nearby and got recommended this place, and it was so great that there has been talk of going back to the area to stay just to return to this restaurant. Amazing food, lovely staff (shout-out to Kate!) and great atmosphere. Not many vegan options on menu but when we enquired staff were happy to make menu changes.

Il Basilico is a great place for yummy pizzas and tasty food. The people who work there are really nice, and the place feels cozy and welcoming. Plus, they have a big garden where you can sit and enjoy your meal outside in the fresh air. If you want delicious Italian food in a friendly atmosphere, Il Basilico is the place to go!

We visited as an adult family group on a Saturday night and the place was busy with a great atmosphere, all of us had a good meal, between us we had Stone bass, lamb rack and belly pork and there where no complaints about any aspect of our meal the only things that let the night down where the price of the wine which was far too expensive and the service charge added to the bill our service charge was £44 which equates to another person joining the group, for me this is a deal braker as I much prefer to leave a tip which I think is appropriate to the service so we won't be returning while this charge is in place it wasn't when we first visited so let's hope its short lived.

Lovely restaurant, excellent food, would recommend the fish and seafood. Service excellent and definitely have a desert! Great choice of food on the menu. Will come back on our next visit.

It's a hidden gem that captures the essence of Italy, and we can't wait to return for another delightful dining experience. Also the pina colada's were amazing...

Set in a beautiful quiet location the initial ambiance is just lovely. The place is spotlessly clean, staff polite and charming. The music is perfect for the bistro along with the decor. There's a superb range of delicious dishes and wines along with soft drinks etc. Can't wait to return to this superb restaurant.

For Mother's day, not only did they happily welcome us in last minute, but also served us with care, we were always checked on (but not pestered) and the food was excellent. The price was extremely reasonable for the quantity and quality they provided. I had a starter as my main as I was very satiated walking out. Recommend highly to anyone.

Visited here last night for the first time. What an absolutely fantastic place! The food was amazing, genuinely the best lasagna I've ever had! The staff are welcoming and friendly and the restaurant is beautiful. I can't believe I didn't know about this place sooner! I will most definitely be back again soon!

Went for dinner with friends as was staying in the area and had a great evening. The staff were very attentive, they could change most things on the menu to accommodate a vegan diet and was very good quality food for the price. Also can recommend the espresso martini!

All four of us had steaks, all cooked very well to our liking. Friendly staff attentative service. Will be back for opera night.

Having heard really positive reviews about IL BASILICO I was most impressed with the warm welcome and service from our server Nick. The food was exceptional, lovely atmosphere and the whole experience was first class. P.S. Even the background music was great.

Monkton's best kept secret!! Authentic Italian homemade food, lovely service from Nico and a very satisfied family! The bruschetta was incredibly tasty and well presented. The risotto allo scoglio was to die for - they definitely don't skimp on the seafood! Rounded off by the best tiramisu I have tasted yet. Just two suggestions - dim the lighting to set the mood, possibly some candles? Change your menu/prices on your website. We were seriously impressed and will be booking a lovely table with you again very soon. Should also mention that this restaurant is dog friendly, Nico was very attentive to Peanut and gave him a few treats! Dog lovers/parents, Il Basilico will be your new favourite restaurant!

It's been a long time since I've enjoyed a three course meal as much as I have tonight. 😋 The food was to die for. I can highly recommend their homemade Calamari Fritto, the creamiest and tastiest Seafood Risotto and the most indulgent Tiramisu. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices totally reasonable. I will definitely be going again. Nico, our waiter was very attentive, welcoming, and friendly. It's a 10/10 for me!

1st visit was OK, but second visit dissapointing. Pizzas use premade bases (not fresh hand made) which really isn't on for an Italian restuarant. Even a pub local to me make their own bases. So that's pizzas out - I can get better takeaways. Service was a little hectic - they use one girl on her own for the entire restaurant so she has to dart around everywhere. It just feels cheap for somewhere trying to be "expensive", which they are when charging £3.95 for a lime and soda. I queried this as it was marked as an orange juice and soda on the bill, which I assumed was the "mistake" - but it was correct - they do charge nearly £4. I don't care that its bottled. No one cares about the taste - its a drink for the designated driver. Its 80p to £1 on most pubs. Get a mixer tap - your brewery will provide one for free. It's not an excuse. The nail in the coffin was the card machine that doesn't work until you select your "gratuity". This isn't London (nor Milan). Don't try and guilt me into paying service - which I am normally generous with , but not when I've been shilled for £4 for a pint of pop. Just found that all very off-putting and won't return. Get some staff out in the restaurant, show you care, and turn the lights down a little - its like an operating theatre.

Really rather average, and disappointing pizza. The bases were clearly not made in-house (uniform thick base and bready inedible crusts), which is very poor for an Italian restaurant, its one of the things they absolutely should get right. One waitress was responsible for the entire restaurant, which, whilst she was great, is just not on. She has ro rush everywhere and you always feel you are squeezing any requests in as an inconvenience. Atmosphere was "bright". I unscrewed the lamp above our table - we were seeing light filaments in our vision it was so bright. Finally got a bill for £45 for two pizzas, two pints, and a lime and soda.... £3.95 for the lime and soda.... that's just taking the... and to add salt to the wound, you can't just do contactless, you have to select "No service/tip" on the machine before it'll scan your card. Won't be returning. Back to Ciao Amore. Real Italian fresh made pizza.

We have just enjoyed a lovely meal at this new Italian restaurant. I had the wild mushroom risotto and the better half had the cannelloni. Both were excellent dishes. Desserts were equally good Service was friendly and efficient. Pricing was not unreasonable for the quality of the food. Well worth a visit if you like authentic Italian.

A large family group of 25 ( including 9 children) arrived with great expectations for a memorable Christmas Dinner … and we were not disappointed!! The food was excellent ( I had the best steak I’ve had in years ) The staff couldn’t do enough for us and were still smiling at the end of a long shift in a very busy restaurant! We were advised that we would have to vacate the restaurant at 5.00pm but were still there long afterwards , with no pressure to leave Above all they seemed genuinely pleased to serve us and ensured we all had a good time We will be back ….. but not all together!!

On a visit to the area for a long weekend and was recommended this lovely Italian restaurant/bar by the B&B owners. Some of the best options and nicest food I've tasted for a long time. Lovely friendly service, what else could anybody want? Fantastic...

Lovely staff, incredibly friendly and welcoming. Food was very good. Main was brilliant but the dessert was only mediocre - nothing wrong with it but it wasn't outstanding ( but still better than a lot of pub grub). I will definitely be going back and am more than happy to recommend going there.

Having visited more than half a dozen times now I am happy to report standards remain high, good atmosphere, great service, superb quality food, all presented well and cooked to perfection. Excellent selection of dishes to choose from we have ordered a good selection of dishes now and nothing has dissapointed.

Had plenty of great Italian meals in here over the past 12 months so thought we’d try the Sunday roast on a wintery day and it didn’t disappoint! Warm, comfortable restaurant with very friendly staff. Service was excellent and the roast beef was beautiful. A good selection of veg with the meal and gluten intolerance well catered for. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon with friends and family , just brilliant !

Not an authentic Italian Fritto misto as starter was good albeit small - definitely not the usual size of such a plate. Pizza toppings were great but base felt like it came out of a freezer pack. Tiramisu a disaster. Full of cream, no taste of mascarpone - if you know the difference, you know!

They forgot to bring one of the plates, and when it arrived, everybody else has already finished the food. The risoto that I ordered was just black pepper, no other taste than that. Beautiful place and nice staff.

This restaurant was recommended to us by the owner of the AirBnB that we were staying in the village and what a recommendation. Such friendly staff, delicious food and a really relaxing atmosphere. We shared a simple but fantastic starter, followed by the gnocchi and the lamb which was so tender and juicy. My husband couldn’t resist the tiramisu which he said was out of this world. Big shout out to Abbie who was attentive fun and super helpful.

Very good food, good children’s menu. Was however surprised that the belly pork didn’t have any vegetables with it, at a cost of £17.95 as vegetables are reasonably cheap and would have then made an excellent meal. Vegetables could be bought as a side dish...

We have been here multiple times and it never disappoints. All of the staff are extremely friendly, especially the manager. Food is always excellent, especially the lasagne and pizza and their wine selection is extensive and again, delicious. Very friendly and accommodating restaurant with a great atmosphere. Would recommend to anyone.

We (party of 4) had lunch here on the 2nd of August 2023. The owner greeted us warmly, we had cannelloni, steak, pizza and a salad. All beautifully made; with pure, fresh ingredients. Quality is outstanding. Eating was an absolute joy. Next to this: This place served the best coffee by far I had in our 2 week stay in England. I would definitely recommend all who are in the neighbourhood to visit this place.

Popped in for a late Sunday lunch and had the most delicious roast beef with all the trimmings. Relaxed ambience. House red wine was really good. Lovely staff. The Italian menu sounds amazing.....we will be back.

Absolutely beautiful! The service was fab and the food... omg the food! So so good! I had the bread with the anchovy butter for starters and my son and husband shared a garlic bread. That anchovy butter is something special. I could swim in that!...

Food was poor quality. Service was passable but young lady needs more support. Kitchen staff sat on oikes of rubbish outside kitchen not a good look. Toilets did not pass any cleanliness test and need a really good clean. Kichen looked chaotic from outside.
