LOVE this place. Regularly come for an ice cream sundae when there's something to celebrate. Huge selection of ice cream flavours and the sorbets are really nice too!

Visited this morning with 2 of my children. They ordered Cookie biscuit waffle and hot chocolate pudding, whilst I was good and just ordered a black coffee. Food was amazing. Delivered quickly, looked and tasted amazing. My only criticism was the coffee - it was a reddish colour and tasted odd. Took it back and was told that that was the colour of their coffee. They did bring me another one but identical looking & tasting!

We went today for breakfast and what a let down. I really wanted bacon on toast as I’m not a fan of pancakes or waffles. To be told the only way I can have bacon is with pancakes and waffles. Customer service was not great and was just not what I expected. We only live 20 minutes away and come here often for the ice cream sundaes. And thought let’s go for breakfast but won’t be coming for breakfast again.

There is no way that you can't find a flavour you like with this vast choice in front of you! My favourite is Apple Pie. Sometimes I do struggle as I have tried so many now that I know that no matter what I choose I will be happy. Rum and Raisin, Raspberry Swirl, Cookies and Cream, Blue Banana, Mint Choc Chip all very nice. Top it off with some chocolate sauce for an extra indulgent ice cream. I had a two flavoured ice cream in a waffle cone with sauce at £4.20, very nice. Unfortunately sometimes the queue is huge, but if you park at the back you can see if they have their second kiosk open at the back (with limited choice). They really are a treat, I would recommend though getting a pot or a smaller ice cream for kids...unless you want to finish it off for them.

We stopped here with family after a long drive back from Wales. Thought we would try the ice cream selection.. WOW, I have never seen a selection like this - too much choice and all at very reasonable prices (I actually thought the server had made a mistake and questioned the cheap prices). Set in its own grounds with both inside and outside dining areas, it was all too easy to stay all afternoon and become lost in the tranquility and perfect ambience (together with the beautiful displays of food) All 6 of us agreed that we have to come back here again. Dogs allowed but keep children on a short leash as they will definately eat all the ice creams.

We called in to sample the ice creams ( not for the first time ) and the sheer volume of people doing exactly the same was enough to tell you that this place is a bit special. Considering the portion sizes , the prices are very reasonable. One problem , with such an extensive variety of ice creams to choose from we did keep changing our minds , but this is all part of the enjoyment. A great place to visit !!!

I know it was a busy day, I can appreciate that, but if you're going to close the main building either close the door or put a closed sign on the door facing the customers. We are not mind-readers. Young girl behind the counter was very terse with us and another couple who were looking to buy some tubs of ice-cream. "Err sorry can I help you, we're closed now!!" Then when we politely left she turned to her colleague and said, "Can't they read?" Read what? There was no sign, door wedged open and 100 customers all sat out. It's a fair assumption to make that one can walk in, buy a cake or ice -cream. We've been coming since it was on the other side of the road from a hole in the wall. Staff always super but perhaps she was having a bad day.

Should it be cake or ice cream?! We quite often go here for a treat. The portion sizes of both cakes and ice cream are huge! No good for the waist line but what a treat. The cakes are delicious and the scones are huge, there are about 6 choices of sponge cake as well as scones and Rocky Road. The toffee cake and chocolate fudge cake are to die for. You can even have a dollop of ice cream with it. There must be at least 24 flavours of ice cream to choose from. The ice cream is the nicest I have had and Frederick's ice cream really does pale in comparison! You can choose flavours and toppings for ice cream sundaes, or you can have waffles or pancakes with your choice of ice cream. The place is usually busy but I have never had too long to wait. I have always found the staff here courteous and very helpful. The interior is rustic in design with the tables being made of scaffolding with pine tops. The building is a converted barn. Outside there is a small garden centre and one of the biggest draws of all are the Alpacas such pretty creatures. There is plenty of car parking space. Go on try it! It would be rude not to.

Well the icecream might be good but calling the place a restaurant is a bit misleading. Toast, crumpets, toasted bagel, "with butter" is about a much as you can get other than the icecreams and cake. I presume that is why there were so many people outside with ice cream and 4 people in the restaurant. if you are wanting lunch beware you will not get it here even if it does still say restaurant. We visited the Pudding House, formerly a favourite destination, yesterday intending to have lunch. We found the place vastly changed, and not for the better. We knew it was being refurbished because we tried to go late in the sumer and found it closed for that reason. What a shock! We walked into the restaurant area to find it much smaller and darker. A large area has been used to make some rustic booths, and other tables made of used wood and steel pipe. Not nice, but acceptable, apparently trying to creare the atmosphere of a barn. However, when we saw the menu, we were flabbergasted. Instead of the lovely ham salad or delicious bangers and mash we were looking forward to, the new menu offered only ice cream or accompaniments to tea such as cake, vastly over-priced scones, or waffles/pancakes/cookies with ice cream. We opted for cookies and waffle. Cookies were very poor, not as good as those you can buy from the supermarker at 5 for a pound. The waffle was tasteless, and though it was described as topped with ice cream, whipped cream, toffee sauce and pecans, the ice cream and whipped cream were served on the side of the plate. Total disappointment, and we will not be returning.

I love Wallings aka the Pudding House! I'm local, and their ice cream and cake selections are fantastic and delicious. I often visit and take friends and family but I visited today with a friend for lunch and we were so disappointed. I suppose the name says it all.... "The Pudding House" because this is ALL they serve! They've had a bit of a refurb and it looks more like a rustic American diner rather than the old barn that it used to be, there's music being played that sounds like something that should be in a club (now I'm 28 so I'm not exactly past it yet....!) but they only serve sweet treats! There is no savoury menu at all. I used to love their paninis, jacket potatoes and salad bits with their lunchtime options and feel that they've taken a step in the slightly wrong direction. They should keep the huge selection of sweet treats but also include some savoury options too because this is literally a "Pudding House" as the name suggests and is no longer a cafe offering a lunch menu. Slightly disappointed as I'll only ever come for an ice cream trip now rather than sit in the cafe. Still recommended for delicious ice creams, milkshakes and puddings though! I can't complain about that along with lovely staff and customer service!

Absolutely love the ice cream!! All flavours are delicious and they all taste exactly as they are described!! You have to have the hot chocolate sauce on the top and a flake as the hot chocolate sauce goes hard and the flake is stuck to it so you have to hold the flake (which also has the hard hot chocolate sauce on it) in one hand and eat your ice cream in the other so you get to enjoy the creaminess of the ice cream first then the crunch of the cone once finished your ice cream and then you get this chocolate heaven to finish off with!!

Firstly Walling's rated No 1 of 3 in Cockerham and has a trip advisor 'award'; the Pudding house rated No 2 of 3. They are the same place(!) so come on TA amalgamate the listing. The visit; been here a few times and to our benefit today weather was miserable wet and windy, which was good as it meant we did not have to undergo the gauntlet of getting in and out of the car park, as this place can get very very pouplar. Today fairly empty. The establishment as always clean, airy, yet cosy. Basic good quality plain wood tables and chairs. The menu has no pretentions but what is done is done to an almsot faultless standard, and very good quality ingredients. We had the 3 course xmas lunch that was on offer. Two small but excellent starters one a prawn cocktail (fat juicy tasty prawns); a black pudding salad (medium coated slice of very good black pudding on a bed of salad levaes with a very tasty dressing). Two turkey lunches - ordinary looking but well above ordinary on quality and taste; our only gripe was could have been a bit more generous on the roast potato front (four small grape sized ones). We finished with 3 Scoop Ice cream bowl - not counted but they must have around 20-30 flavour choices - each of which tastes like the description. Ice cream is up there with the very best we've had, and we've been on the planet a good few years - my advice wait until its on the point of melting to get the full creamy benefit. Conclusion:Wallings and the Pudding House are one and the same. Simple avaerage looking menu belies the consistent well above average quality of the food.Very good value for money. Would we visit again - Yes, but be wary when very busy, car park can be frustrating.

Second visit to this amazing ice cream parlor/cafe. Big lunch of sausage ad=nd mash with creamy mashed potatoes and peas, generously served with onion gravy. The real meal--a huge ice cream sundae which you design yourself: up to three kinds of ice cream, sauce of your choice, topping you choose, and whipped cream if you want it. For £4.95 I opted for a three-variety treat, which turned out to be enormous--3 (not just one, as I expected) scoops of blue banana ice cream, equally generous servings of coconut, then pistachio--topped off with toffee sauce and nuts. I have always been mad about ice cream, and in more than seven decades, this was the first time I struggled to finish an ice cream treat. The ice cream was so deliciously creamy and flavourful, we had to buy some from the farm shop for home. The price was considerably less than a popular supermarket 'American' brand and the product far superior. Service maybe leaves something to be desired, and it is not obvious whether one has to order at the till or if a waiter will come for the order, but this does not pretend to be a fine dining restaurant.

We visited today as an end of school year treat for the children. I was not expecting that I would need to book as it was midweek just before 4pm. On arrival we noticed that there were not enough tables outside so decided to eat inside, the upstairs area was closed off and there were not enough tables downstairs as there were 3 adults and 8 children. I approached a staff member to see if we could sit upstairs as we were expecting a few more people to join us. This request was not met with great enthusiasm as the there were apparently only 2 members of staff working (we saw more than 2!) After we had ordered sundaes for 11 people more people arrived (another 7) but had already purchased cones from the till round the front of the building. They came to join us bit were shouted at and told they couldn't join us with their cones. I was under the impression that it was the same company but they were treated as if they had tried to bring a picnic from home into the building!!! We ended up moving outside to 2 recently vacated tables and the children had to sit on the floor just so we could sit with other members of our party. All in all the ice creams were nice and arrived quickly (considering we were told there would be a huge wait as we had not booked in advance). The staff should maybe reconsider their careers in customer facing roles as it does not appear to be a strong point.

I have visited wallings many times and i am usually very happy with going for an ice cream treat. For a change we decided to try the cafe mid afternoon. When we arrived we saw it looked quite busy and after looking for signs (of which we could not see) we asked a waitress if we found our own table or is it a case of wait to be seated. We were given a very brisk answer of "it's very busy you'll just have to have a look yourself".We went upstairs to find a table had come free and a waitress was there cleaning the table and i asked if she would be able to get a high chair for our table. The waitress pointed out that the highchairs were in a corner and a man was using it to place his coats on and said she'd be back. After waiting i walked back downstairs to find a high chair, which could not be found. By this time we decided to leave and we informed the waitress we would no longer need a high chair and found her attitude to us very rude. I do feel just because this is a very busy place it should not affect customer service. I was appalled at the attitude of all the staff we encountered and would urge management to look at the importance of customer courtesy from their employees. I will not be returning here in a hurry and will be letting fellow friends with young children to be aware of a lack of empathy for families with young children. Very disappointing

We suspected that the fish was not fresh but may have been frozen, not what we was expecting. My wife's batter was soggy in places and tasted of flour. The chips where a skingy potion for the price £7.95. The bread we had with it was nice and fresh "the best part of the meal". For the price and experience, we will not be returning to the Pudding House for a meal! The ice cream on the other hand is well worth the money! Went here with a friend who has recently lost his wife; we could relax and talk freely without being overheard: it was his first visit at lunchtime and we had different dishes, and quiet unobtrusive service. It`s a calm place, with pleasant outlook and relaxing, quiet atmosphere. Overall a reasonable price and a chance to catch up with a friend, and generally very acceptable. Plenty of parking spaces, and level access.

It's a funny old place, The Pudding House. Originally a barn on the Wallings Farm site, it now serves as a cafe (I think "restaurant" is pushing it a bit) offering homemade cakes and a relatively simple menu. We visit regularly when staying at nearby Thurnham Hall and always look forward to a big, fat bacon roll and a coffee. Much of the meat served here is their own farm-reared and eggs come courtesy of the resident hens. It is a relatively average place to visit in terms of menu and value, but the cafe comes into its own when we start talking ice cream. Oh yeah, that ice cream....it is DIVINE! My tongue takes on a life of it's own at the mere thought of dipping into a huge Eton Mess double cornet. The jewel in the Pudding House crown, this is a treat NOT to be missed! And if that isn't enough, the shop offers some lovely, locally sourced food and drink treats and handmade chocolates. Service, on the other hand, is very mediocre and staff need training in customer service skills. But aside from that, The Pudding House is very much worth a visit. Just leave the calorie counter outside the door....

Called in for coffee and cake - portions are huge, might be good to get one piece of cake and 2 forks if you have a small appetite! Ice creams are wonderful, lots of choice - try the Eton Mess ice cream, it's to die for

Very very good cafe lovely coffee and a mega portion of cake all served with a smile at a very good price. Open until 5 pm on a Sunday so great to call in after a walk. I do believe in Summer they serve ice creams until 7 pm.

Food here is quite basic but the ice creams are fantastic. You can have a cone from the parlour, loads of flavours, really want to impress an ice cream lover, ask for a 3 scoop waffle cone, it's nearly as big as your head!

What better combination for that much needed treat! The toffee cake is wonderful, my personal favourite, but you just can't go wrong whatever your choice. Wonderful salads and sandwiches abound if you insist on being "good", and plenty of other choices for a tasty lunch.

Beautiful view, restaurant and shop. However, the service and food left a tab to be desired. I went to the till got served by a non-friendly member of staff which I found disappointing. The food came quickly which was nice as there were quite a few people in. The burgers didn't look very appetising at all, one of my sons only had a few mouthfuls. I myself had a chicken burger, it wasn't very nice. It was dry and the barmcake not very fresh at all. For three burgers, a coke, a milkshake and a chocolate it was nigh on £30. Don't think I would rush back at all.

Visited The Pudding House yesterday. Very nice, clean and enjoyable. The home made ice cream was lovely and a great range of flavours are available. There was a great selection of delicious looking cakes but unfortunately didn't try any. Will definitely return if back in the area!

I have been going here since it was a hole in the wall across the road from being a child. I havent visted for around 5 years as dont live in the area anymore. Lovely to see how they have capitalised, diversed and expanded to cater for the busy venue that it is. Sadly the staff in the cafe let the atmosphere down, staff members are not very welcoming nor appear interested, we walked in and there was 4 staff members behind counter when quiet, all of them ignored us!!! I went to place my order at the till and the customer before me was short changed twice, nothing to do with me but glad it wasn't me, just said shouldn't be here, my turn next; cashier walks away from till to look for a colleague, returns and no engagement with me other than taking my order. Ordered usual refineries for a farm cafe of this sort, food and drinks all ok. Experience on this occassion was a bit poor. Just need to look at staff engagement with customers. We then went to front of house for an ice cream, the original winner for this company, service 100% spot on, was a pleasure to receive this after the cafe experience, the ice creams as I remembered them to be. Sat outside and on observation could do with tables wiping as obviously melting ice cream drips everywhere along with the floor, needs a brush as it has a lot of plastic spoons everywhere.

We returned here for a coffee and milkshake. It was lovely as usual. Nothing particularly special but we didn't experience the negatives below. We will return again when next in the area.

We have visited many times over the years and on the last few occasions have been greeted by snotty and rude staff. If I knew the ladies name who had served us at the til I would have made an official complaint. We got there before their usual lunch menu was on however I asked if I could have a soup and a sandwich and the response I got was "no the fryers are not on you'll have to choose from the breakfast menu", my partner then asked if she could ask the kitchen if they could do a soup anyway (seeing as you don't need a fryer to warm up soup) and the response we got was "have something off the breakfast menu or have nothing". Pretty terrible customer service. We will not be coming again!

Really surprised by some of the below reviews! I visited The Pudding House for a late lunch with my partner and it was refreshing to deal with such polite and friendly staff. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant is great and on a clear day, the views from the upstairs seating area are lovely. As it was December we didn't sample the Ice Cream though we did have hot food and both my partner and I really enjoyed it. Afterwards we visited the chocolate counter which I can't recommend enough!

We arrived somewhat early to lunch at the Pudding House, but as The Mill at CD is not very far away we popped in for a coffee the chef in his white smock was sorting out menues and it sounded very tasty. We had coffee and a nice home made biscuit read the morning papers and had a walk along the canal towpath, its a bit overgrown but we did find some wild orchids and other wild flowers. The Pudding House has been one of my regular haunts for a number ofyears the food is always nicely prepared we both had Wallings Bangers and Mash followed by Wallings Ice Cream (If Carlsberg Brewery knew about Wallings Ice Cream they may say that it was probably) visited 21/9/13.

This used to be just a restaurant and ice cream parlour. There was a separate farm shop and butchers which closed and now they have the cafe/ licensed restaurant/ home made chocolate shop and farm food and meat in fridges all in the one building. It all feel s a bit squashed in to me now, which is a shame. The menu is still very good but the salads used to be exceptional with fresh fruit and lots of tomatoes and interesting extras. Not so much now. It's still good; just not as good.. The ice cream is amazing and Wallings is in the same building as the Pudding House. There are so many varied flavours and it is very reasonable too. Well worth a visit just for the ice cream. There is also a tiny little garden centre with some lovely and unusual plants.

It was a very warm summers day, my wife and I set off for a brief run into the country round south Lancaster when we came across a and absolute hidden gem! It is called The Pudding House Café, which is one part of the Wallings farm on Garstang Road Lancaster. The ice creams sold at this 'oasis' are superb! There are many flavours to chose from, you are very spoilt for choice actually! We sat outside and enjoyed our ice creams, and the sun! The Ice cream parlour opening times are: Mon-Sat 10-7, Sunday 10-8. The café also serves an extensive lunchtime menu, using locally sourced food. There were freshly prepared cakes and scones for those who wish to partake in a delightful afternoon tea. If you are holidaying or living in north Lancashire then add this venue to your list of places to visit - but beware, once you have tried the ice creams here you will find you need to come back, again and again, we will!!!! Their web-site can be found at: www.wallingsfarm.co.uk

Visited on a Sunday for my partners birthday celebrations whilst staying in Lancaster. Excellent friendly service by everyone and one of the best Sunday roast dinners we've had in a long time! We also stayed for the pub quiz afterwards, which was great fun with a friendly quiz host, and we didn't come last 🙂 Our first visit to Lancaster and, therefore, to Merchants 1688, but we will be returning to both! Whole heartedly recommend a trip here for a meal. Thanks.

Fab real ale pub in a great location right on the canal in Lancaster. I counted 10 cask ales on tap. My Titanic Plum Porter was a beauty. Even on a drizzly Halloween evening it was a delight! 🎃

I love this place especially your crispy cake slices. But your hot chocolate today was not good. Didn't complain as haven't got the time but far too much cream and marshmallows in hit chocolate so there felt like no hot chocolate to drink and what was there was not hot. Go easy on cream !

The weather had turned very wet and I had my little grandson in his pram Went in to order but was stifling to find vegetarian as I was dripping water in my eyes Girl tried to be helpful but it came across as a bit condescending. When I'd ordered she said sorry cash only. Who does that these days!! So I had to go back into the outing rain. If it was my pace I'd have offered a cup of tea or a towel The young woman who used to be there was lovely It seems to have gone down service wise My friend who can't see well said they were very rude to her too sadly Shane as it's a nice menu and cafe
