A very pleasant place! Location close to the center but still quiet with a wonderful terrace. I recommend the rosé from English production.

The perfect spot, for a quiet solo coffee, or lunch with a group of friends. Jaq welcomes everyone with a personal touch, always takes time to chat with customers (and remembers anyone who has been there before). Mornings there are gorgeous homemade cakes and pastries, and the most wonderful cannoli imported direct from Sicily (the pistachio one is to die for!). The lunchtime menu is a triumph of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean flavour, with an array of original (and delicious!) salads. Jaq is also now licensed, and has just stared opening a couple of evenings a week on the terrace - I think some of her fabulous Taralli with a glass of crisp rosé beckons one sunny evening…

Delicious cake! Parisian (slightly snooty) vibes and a price to match. No surprise though given it's connected to Neptune. Friendly staff though. Generally one of - if not THE- best cafes in Bath.

I’m puzzled by the not so good reviews. My husband and I are locals and this is our favourite spot for coffee and cake and occasional Saturday lunch. We always go straight to the counter to order and receive quick and great service every time. I do agree with it being on the higher price point but you get what you pay for. In my most recent visit, my piece of cake was full of pistachios/nuts and great quality ingredients and absolutely loved it.

Not even a hello from the owner when we went in, she was too busy on her phone. After ordering she was back on her phone, we eventually got our coffee. We mentioned we had ordered cake, had to remind her again as she was back on her phone. So expensive 2 coffees, pain au raisin £14.95. Such a shame used to be so lovely before it was taken over.

Firstly, it's in a lovely setting and the cakes are homemade and really nice... after that it's a disaster We had 3 coffees, an orange juice, 2 cakes and a pastry.... the price was eye watering and wasn't until I left I thought 'hold on' £37 all in, no menu or prices anywhere to be seen What else was disappointing is seeing the pastry's seemingly just brought from Waitrose next door. Won't be visiting again The 1 start review really is for the price, it just didn't make sense

Delightful bright airy spot and agree with recent visitor about resistance to cake being futile. The carrot cake was divine. If you want a meal that has you leaving satisfied and taken care of, don’t miss Jaq’s! Jaq is a wonderful host, she makes you feel very welcome and the atmosphere and decor are spot on. The availability of fresh salads is great. I loved the aubergine, cabbage and bulgar wheat salads and you could tell the ingredients were of the highest quality. The menu is conceptual and great detail is put into making the dishes stand out. As a meat eater, when you only realise afterwards that it was all veggie but you are so satisfied, it’s a great sign. The zaalouk was really delicious, I wish I could have it every day. I will be returning soon!

What a gem of a place! We were in Bath celebrating a wedding anniversary and had assumed that Neptune were now introducing a cafe concept - great idea BTW, but upon chatting with Jaq, our host, realised that this was happenstance. We stopped by simply for coffee and to rest a while, but having looked at the cakes, found ourselves helpless to resist. Jaq's cakes and cannolis have super powers - they were that good. Possibly the best we have ever tasted. Stupendous. The coffees were perfect. Service prompt. All brought together by a charming and very talented host (trained with Gennaro Contaldo no less). Perfection. More please...

We used to love the “old” Provenist cafe for lunch - a great choice of food and excellent service. This version could not be more opposite. Unfriendly staff - especially Jaq, who ignored us completely. Other staff were abrupt and not at all polite. Food dreadful. Two coffees for £9:22 - extortionate really for a low quality cafe. Love Neptune - thoroughly dislike the cafe and will not be going back. Judging by the lack of people, it seems others have made the same decision.

Nice venue in the lovely Neptune shop and food is very good. However, the service has been disappointing when I’ve visited recently. We ordered lunch and after waiting a while, I saw plates identical to what we ordered being taken to another table who had arrived after us. When ‘ours’ arrived, it was not what I had ordered. As I suspected, our lunch had been given to the other table! I had to then wait longer for my correct order to arrive. I had the salad and it was delicious. It would almost have been worth the mix-up, but when I went to pay, I was charged way too much. I wasn’t shown a bill or receipt, but I realised it wasn’t right and it turned out Jaq had charged me for what the other table had! She gave me a refund for the overpayment. I always loved this cafe when it was the Provenist, so I returned a few weeks later hoping that was just a one-off. But alas, my next visit was very similar. First I was given a different tea to what I had ordered, and then Jaq tried to overcharge me with another table’s bill AGAIN! On both occasions, I did not like her attitude and she was not very apologetic for the mistakes. It’s a shame, as she is a talented chef and the food is excellent, but after my own experiences and reading other reviews on here, I will absolutely not be returning again.

Very overpriced! £21.21 for 2 hot drinks & 2 average pastries! Eye watering prices for average stuff. I saw no menu / price list up, so I couldn't tell prices beforehand. They probably survive on footfall from unsuspecting customers in the Neptune that's part of the same building. Average sized coffee and tea. They say sit and we'll bring it over. You pay at the end. BAM! £21.21. If they'd either shown the price list or told us the price before consuming, we'd have walked away. I feel this is deceptive behaviour. And just crazy crazy prices.

Asking for a coffee with hot milk, seemed a challenge and was made to feel inferior and hurried in doing so, even though the cafe was not at all busy. Waited an age for the coffee and a small custard tart - coffee, milk and tart all came separately! Offered to pay before hand, and now understand why it I was advised to pay at the end…as I was charged nearly £11 for both!…normally I wouldn’t query, but I did feel a mistake had been made, when I asked the owner was defensive and rude, and still didn’t provide a breakdown. She scrabbled around under the counter for an age and thrust a £2 coin my way, stating she would waiver the 12.5 service charge!! In a cafe really? And what service? Coffee I understand was £3.95… so nearly £6 the tart?!!! 87p in Waitrose next door, without the drama and vitriol. I live close to London and have never had a query a price for anything. We work hard to earn money and I genuinely don’t want anyone else to be robbed of theirs in similar circumstance and particularly when there are so many other amazing places to eat and drink in Bath, with lovely service and treating customers genuinely.

We went to a prepaid Moroccan event. The food and service was second to none. However we were served wine and at no point ( even though there was a lengthy introduction to what to expect of the evening ) did they say wine was charged extra. It was extremely expensive and it wasn’t good. But we didn’t complain as we thought it was included. Had we known we definitely wouldn’t have had it. Really took the shine off of an otherwise lovely evening.

This once-divine cafe has undergone a tragic transformation to a place where high expectations are met with utter disappointment and exorbitant prices. Jaq and her staff work at a pace best described as semi-comatosed, leaving us questioning if the cost is for the coffee or the privilege of enduring the agonizing wait. In its current state, the only thing exceptional about this cafe is its ability to disappoint. This cafe's glory days are but a distant memory, and it's now just a regrettable reminder of how things can go terribly wrong in the world of dining and hospitality.

I love the provenist and would call myself a local. I would agree that the cafe is on the expensive side however the portion sizes and choices really do make up for it! The coffee, tarts and cakes are amazing. The customer service is definitely mixed at times, some very attentive staff members including the man, Adrien who is always joyful, considerate and creates a wonderful atmosphere, he also remembers what you like to order which is a lovely touch- a real asset to the provenist. However, some others give you the cold shoulder, I would say that because of the layout you get to hear a lot of staffs conversations and sometimes it’s about other members of the team and I found that quite off putting. Having worked in customer service for 9 years It’s an occupational habit to be aware of do’s and don’ts but apart from that I would highly recommend.

Love the whole concept. Popped in for brunch today. Love the fact they use Neptune tableware etc. Ate poached egg and avocado on sourdough. Fresh and delicious. My partner ate smoked salmon, scrambled eggs on a croissant. He says "plenty of smoked salmon, great."

A special on the board written out as ROLL - TURKEY AND CRANBERRY made us assume it was a turkey and cranberry filled bread roll. Error. It was 4 thin slices of a sausage roll for £10. Avocado on toast with no butter, hard poached...

Nothing fishy going on here - we noticed The Provenist a few weeks ago but only just just managed a visit. Tucked away at the bottom of Walcot St. with plenty of quality competition just a few steps away, so it needs to be good....

Visited for the children’s literature festival to see Russel Kane. Great event with a building.

Buena comida, tenía una hamburguesa fabulosa. Súper servicio, no podría ser mejor. Pub un poco cansado, pero muy acogedor de hecho. Admite perros.

This is such a lovely pub, good sized carpark. Dog friendly and even on a Sunday lunchtime they let us buy some bowls of chips.

I'm a frequent visitor to bristol airport, as my partner travels for work, so I'm often there to wait for his flights to come in. Unfortunately, there are very few options for anywhere to sit while waiting, other than cafe ritazza. Because of this, the cafe area is always busy, and all the regular/normal seating is always taken, so I have to try get my 50+yo arthritic, short arse up one one of their many Eiffel tower height stools, and if that's not hard enough, the darn things also swivel! No wonder all the other seating is always taken, and all these 'make yourself look like an ungainly idiot' seats are always free in huge numbers. Please please please cafe ritazza, rethink your seating options. Not everyone is an 8ft tall gymnasts.

I’m a travelling Australian and got excited about some home-style food but this was so bad. The rice clumped together like it was days old, the kale was discoloured and the serving size was pitiful. Could have made something much better myself for far less than the £15 I paid for this and a mediocre chai. Service wasn’t even friendly. I’m only giving it 2 stars because I had a juice there a few days ago and it was pretty decent - otherwise it would have been a one. And - on the plus side it didn’t taste terrible but the rice was a bit suss.
