The Project in Erewash

Went for a coffee and a cake, and I was very surprised. Coffee was excellent and a good size, the cake was lovely, staff very good. Will definitely go again, I'll take a book next time it's so relaxing. I've tried windmill and bottle kiln. This is so much better. Give the project a visit you will be blessentily surprised .yes, I will go again and again. Forgot to mention is run by Arean Church and it has cloths and furniture for sale too. It is very well laid out and excellent quality

Used to be a great place to go for a drink and bite to eat with the kids however since the place has had a refurb or whatever they've done to it I went in today to discover they only have one high chair which was already being used so we couldn't even stay in the end. Not impressed at all.

Lovely food, pleasant settings, comfy furniture, and the staff are great. What's not to like? :)

Really good place to visit. It has very good second hand clothes, furniture and jewelry. One of there best features is it cafe with delicious food at a very good price.

Great use of a closed British well known store. Lovely food at reasonable prices and Friendly staff. Surprise at the back with beautiful refurbished furniture and lovely second hand specially selected clothes.

Lovely coffee shop/ cafe. Good food and drinks at reasonable prices. Nice cosy atmosphere. Also selling good quality, reconditioned furniture to a high standard. Good selection of pre-loved, quality clothing also. Well worth a look if you're after a room makeover, or just a coffee and cake! Highly recommended.

The food at The Project / The Workshop Cafe is made fresh to order and is always top notch. Prices are very fair and the staff are more than happy to accommodate any requests. Would highly recommend this cafe.

Stopped by this morning for a hot chocolate and toast and thoroughly enjoyed it, the food is very delicious and high quality at great, low prices, the staff are very friendly and welcoming, the cafe itself is very spacious, well decorated, clean and relaxing and the clothing and furniture area is equally as fantastic. A place definitely worth visiting and I definitely will be returning! :)

Always really enjoy it here. Great customer service with friendly staff, and the food is really good, and pretty cheap. Appreciate the fact that they haven't tried to cram all the tables as close together as they can, to try and squeeze more people in.

I've been here a few times, the older staff seem very friendly and willing to give a overall positive customer service. However I was served by a young girl, who did not smile. I noticed upon my arrival, she was busy talking to someone. Not a customer. It seemed I distributed her conversation. She did not seem interested in serving me and when she did serve my sandwich. It was almost dropped on my table. Not a word was spoken from this young girl. Extremely poor customer service. Obviously if this was too happen again I will be speaking to the manager. I do not come to a restaurant on my day off to be treated poorly! And that matter no where else. I do a very demanding job in which service must be high prioritise.

We had some furniture from there, it was good quality and very reasonably priced. The staff we friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed a scone with jam n cream. The coffee shop was just the same but someone has run amuck with dark grey paint so now the whole place looks dark n gloomy.

Lovely food, a lot cheaper than some places, very good with social distancing.

A very unassuming cafe. Food and drink quality is high with the prices being very reasonable. Plenty of seating and the staff are very attentive and welcoming. A little off the beaten track (at the bottom of the Ilkeston "hill") but worth the extra few steps.

Quaint coffee shop - great simple food with a twist of second hand things to buy, definitely worth a try

A little gem in this struggling town. Food basic but quality excellent. The hard working staff are friendly and helpful. Some improvement in cleaning issues re cutlery needed but would highly recommend a visit. Thanks guys and gals. 😊

A gem of a place. Lovely decor, really spacious (which is always good when you have a pushchair so as to not feel awkward and in the way of everybody), fantastically priced tasty food and drink and lovely staff. We go regular as The Project is our favourite place to go for a Coffee. Oh and proceeds are for charity too..

Lovely greeting from the staff, homemade cake and coffee were fine, it was good to see the cafe well supported.

Had to wait to long to get served sand when it came it was not good enuf they r trying to b to posh for a cafe ppl want a breakfast not beans in a bowl and cold bacon sorry not good enuf.

I really enjoyed it here. The food was piping hot and delicious. Staff were nice and it was lovely having a look around what they do here.

Friendly, efficient service and good prices

The staff recognise us and always welcome us with good friendly service. The food is perfect for us and very reasonably priced. It is very user friendly and spacious for children. We quite often take our grandson in for a lunch/snack. All day breakfasts go down a treat for us "grown ups" LOL

Every penny taken on the very small profit they make is being put to good use helping the local community and those less fortunate , a much needed boost for Ilkestons bath street . Prices are very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food and drinks being served , all by polite and friendly staff . Highly recommended by visitors and locals alike .

Have never been to Ilkeston before, came across The Project whilst walking around looking for somewhere to eat lunch. What a fantastic place. Community based enterprise, run by the community for the direct benefit of the community. The old store is fitted out to a high spec. The kitchen and cafe area are great, and the meals, cake and coffee even better. Not to mention the price. Upcycled furniture, great nic nacs and cushions, vintage clothing. Oh, and did I mention the exceptional food and welcoming staff!! Great place.

I’m sorry but I happened to go to the food bank where the furniture gets collected before going to the project shop where it’s over a hundred pounds more for the same thing, 50quid in the warehouse at the bottom of town transported to the top (sofa) = £140quid? I would of hired the man with the van for 20quid lol and made a huge saving still, the furniture is painted with chalk then over charged to poeple, it’s ilkeston not London!

I'm biased I know but I love the vibe, values and offering of this place. The staff are pretty awesome too. Every pound made goes back to serve the community is a major plus. It's brought a great building back into use and hopefully encourages life back into the High Street too.

Fabulous renovation of the old Woolworths shop. The project is a community church run shop and cafe . Restored furniture is on sale at the rear of the shop but don't miss out on a cuppa or a meal in the cafe. The food is good . All freshly prepared and cooked to order . Breakfast lunches snacks and dreamy cakes are all on the menu at a very cheap price . The whole place is spotlessly clean and the staff smart and friendly . It is also conveniently situated neat the bus stops , so call in whilst awaiting the bus , you won't be disappointed. All profits from the shop and cafe are forwarded to local charities .

We don't visit Ilkeston that often and walking down the main drag looking for a snack and drink we came across this gem. Very helpful and friendly staff with the excellent quality of food and drink. Very clean and lovely ambience. Will be back!

Great to see the old Woolworths shop being put to good use. Cafe setup is in a large area, decent cup of coffee and piece of cake with service that was okay.

The Project is a large CAFE on the old Woolworths site. Besides being a cafe selling food and hot/cold drinks at reasonable prices, there is at the back of the premises restored furniture also on sale. There is only one toilet however which could be a problem. The cafe is well worth a visit. Another big problem to be aware of, if with small children, I do feel the automatic doors could be a danger hazard and an accident waiting to happen where small toddlers could get trapped

I love this place. Have been for both breakfast and lunch! Extremely good quality and pricing. Awesome furniture for sale. By far the best part about it - it's all community based!

Lovely, friendly place. Nice people, food very reasonable and cooked to perfection. Eyes were bigger than my belly though as the cake was massive (not a bad thing!).

At last, the eyesore that was the derelict Ilkeston Woolworths is no more. Arena Church with support from Erewash Borough Council has set up a cafe and second hand goods outlet that also offers training and employment opportunities. Cheap good coffee, excellent cheese scone with butter and ample cream and jam. All for £3.25.
