Fintons Cafe & Bakehouse in Erewash

SO glad I visited here today with a good friend of mine. I found it on Google maps...!!! Such delicious food , with a very good quality and taste to it. I had garlic mushrooms on sourdough toast , with a poached egg on top, and lots of lovely fresh rocket. My friend had a lovely brown sourdough with a blend of very tasty cheeses on top of it - we both loved our food...😋😋😋. The desserts and cakes are to die for, my friend had a piece of a "triple layer victoria sponge", and I had a piece of "blueberry & lemon sponge" to take away, with me... Coffees were also 👌👌👌👌👌 excellent. Staff were very helpful and friendly, too... 🥰🥰👍👍. Would definitely recommend this place for breakfast, brunch, & lunch...👍👍👍 Amazing...!! You can also reserve a table in advance, to make sure you get a seat, when it's busy....👌👌Visited again with 2 other friends today (12/9/24 - it's still as busy , and as good food as ever....👍👍👍 Gets SO very busy, it's good that you can reserve tables beforehand.

What a hidden gem this place is - literally a few mins off the M1 (J25) - great food, great service beats the service station stop!

Fantastic food! Great surroundings! And great service too! Was too full to have the cake sadly but that is a perfect excuse to return!!!

Superb soup and cheese on toast absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and cakes out of this world. We will be back. If you want a reasonably priced treat , choose Fintons you will not be disappointed!

Always hear great things about this place so decided to go grab my breakfast to take away. Won’t be going again. Ordered a bacon and mushroom roll to take away (with another bacon sani and a coffee) and it came in a box with mushrooms separarte but with that much oil/water from the mushrooms that my roll was sodden after a five minute walk back home. The mushrooms were pretty much raw too. Worst £16 I’ve ever spent. Wish I’d taken photos.

Short visit just has a milkshake as only had time for that but a lovely place and would definitely recommend giving the place a visit and hopefully next time I'll have time for some food

Despite being really busy when we visited the service was quick and friendly and the food arrived quickly. Good menu, delicious food (with fantastic cakes) and big portions. A fantastic little cafe.

An extremely nice eggs Royal, with extra bacon cooked to perfection, followed by one of the best fruit scones with cream and jam I have ever had outside of my mum's. Definitely worth a visit, and as Arnie said" I'll be back".

One of my favourite spots for cakes and catch ups in the area. I love all the homemade cakes. Especially when cornflake tart is made! A great spot for breakfast and lunch. Worth a visit for sure!

Called here today Friday 10th Nov 2023. We were one of the first through the door when it opened. Last time we visited here it was heaving and a job to get a table but not so today but many tables were reserved. Good menu with lots of choice, all we wanted was a drink and toast. Toast a bit pricey at £4.50 for 2 slices but was doorstep size. Nice food and drink.

Unfortunately we can't comment on the food as we left before trying any due to poor customer service and general lack of consideration for customers. We weren't allowed to sit on a table for 4 as there were only 2 of us and yet there were quite a few of them available! We were then offered a table for 2 but there was about a 3 inch gap between the tables and we would have felt we were having lunch with strangers especially as we wanted to have a private conversation. We then did get a table for 2 but we were near the door and it was left wide open and it was very cold so we asked politely if the door could be closed, and another table had also said they were cold, but we were told that it couldn't be shut because the kitchen staff wouldn't like it as they were hot in the kitchen!!!! Surely they must have had a back door they could leave open or a fan they could put on. Goodness knows what will happen in the depths of winter but fortunately we won't know as we don't intend to return. We then went to the lovely Canal Cottages cafe in Draycott and had a lovely meal with good customer service. Plus it was lovely and warm on a cold October day!

Excellent local cafe. Service is always warm and friendly. Food excellent especially the grilled cheese and breakfast ciabatta. Highly recommended!

Been meaning to call here for a while, finally made it today and wasn't disappointed. A warm, friendly welcome awaits you on entry ,we booked a table ahead, which is a wise move as it is a busy place. We opted for the Stilton,cream cheese ,walnut and mango chutney sandwich on thick granary bread, what a flavour combination, it was delicious and as far as a sandwich goes it is probably the nicest I've ever had! There is a lovely selection of cakes to choose from, we chose the Ninaimo and a white chocolate and peanut butter blondiè, these again were both delicious, all washed down with a lovely cappuccino . Service was excellent, will definitely visit again when in the area.

Went here today for the first time I had a cheese scone which is the worse one I have ever had a very deep orange colour and very doughy My husband the pancakes they were so thick more like cake mixture the coffee was ok On the experience we had today we will not be returning

Walking up Sadler Gate decided to pop in out of the rain. Very surprised at the range and quality of what was available either takeaway deli or eat in cafe. I had spinach soup with soda bread my partner had smooth and vegetarian pate. Both were delicious and very filling. They also stock a range of artisan cheeses and couture meats, this is a special little place and will definitely return again. Cappuccino was also very nice and rounded off the meal perfectly.

Called in for an impromptu lunch. My partner had a cheese scone with butter whilst I had the garlic mushrooms on toasted ciabatta with a poached egg and coffee. The cheese scone was excellent, really tasty but had to ask for butter. The garlic mushrooms smelt lovely as soon as we got out of the car. The ciabatta was quiet tough to cut and a little burnt but the poached egg WASN'T runny !! Infact it resembled an over done boiled egg. I was very disappointed as I envisaged a lovely soft poached egg running with the garlic mushrooms and rocket leaves but unfortunately it wasn't to be. The egg should of been the star of the show that pulled it all together, I mean a runny poached egg isn't difficult. The cafe was 95% full so I'll put it down to being very busy.

Took a friend there for a mid day meal. They take notice of allergies. The meals were nicely presented. Very popular with mothers and young families. We had the Eggs Benedict that was rather pleasant. When in the area it is worth a try.

Came here with my 2 sisters and my daughter for a pre birthday brekki. My Elda sis went for the vegan sausage cob and seemed to enjoy it! I had eggs benedict but as I hate egg white I asked for just the yolks on my food, they obliged. Food came out at a reasonable time and was lush! Would add that the seating was a little cramped but okay. Really enjoyed the food then left the cafe pulling the metal chain curtain to one side which then fell on me and completely came off the wall, lol. No injuries but slightly embarrassed. Would highly recommend for brekki :)

Pleasant staff, bright, pretty furnishings, delicious food (garlic mushrooms and quiches were fresh baked and very tasty). Coffee was excellent and served with double cream on request. We broke our journey home to meet a friend and found Finton's Café and Bakehouse recommended in 'Sawday's The Extra Mile', an invaluable guide to alternatives to motorway services. Thank you, we loved your café.

Visited Fintons whilst passing through the area. We hadn’t booked but got a table without problem although it was a busy Friday Bank Holiday weekend. What a little gem this lovely cafe is, beautiful home made food with some of the most generous filling I have ever seen on my partners sandwich! Great quality ingredients used but not an expensive place to eat . Staff were really friendly & the place had a lively atmosphere, obviously very popular with people living locally. Highly recommend this lovely cafe if you are in the area.

Visited Monday 24th April 2023. Wasnt busy so parking and getting a table was good. Good menu, a bit pricier than other local cafes. Drinks and toast was fine, service was good

A lovely cafe to visit with the whole family. We visited in the morning ovrr half term and the staff were really friendly and were very talkative to our children. Lots of varied cake choices and coffee drinks too. Excellent value. Will certainly return.

Very poor service. Absolutely would not recommend. They bump the side salad portions up to make the plate look full. The slice of quiche was miserly. The tables are way too smaller and you are all crammed in. Very uncomfortable and dissapointing.

The staff were very attentive and the festive afternoon tea was delicious. There were a good choice of sandwiches, scones and four types of cake. There was unlimited tea and freshly brewed. As a Coeliac, I had an excellent choice of food all served with due care and attention. A relaxing afternoon.

called here Friday 21st October 2022 for drinks and toast. Parking was ok and got a table ok. A very varied menu and not badly priced. The drinks were very nice and hot, The toast and marmalade was also lovely. We live not far away and dont use this place enough but will do in the future. Staff were very friendly and its nice to get the food etc delivered to the table

Lovely cup of fresh leaf tea! Seriously makes all the difference and a yummy giant sized slice of bakewell tart. Not from the area, just popped in on my way by so was happy to get such a nice cuppa. Thank you!

I called in here with my son, looked a lovely little place and staff very friendly, ordered tea, coffee, we both had cheese on toast and cake, was totally shocked at £7.95 for cheese on toast the whole bill came to just under £30

Absolutely disgusting the prices they charge at this place. They think by calling it a bake House that it puts them on par with Gordon Ramsey or something. No duck definitely not it's just a very expensive cafe

Great doorstop bread for toast here and very good choices. As its a bakery they do a range of cakes. And a good cuppa too😁

I went with a group of friends, i used to work with. We was all very happy with the choice, and service, some things were a little pricey.

Love visiting Fintons for lunch. Great customer service, nice clean place. Food is always fresh and tasty. The soup is homemade and delicious, cheese scones are gorgeous, the quiche salad amazing. Also brilliant for just a cake and coffee.

Very friendly staff, lovely food, relaxing comfortable seats with plenty of choice indoors and out. I love that you get tea with tea leaves, which as one of the young ladies said, makes it a real treat.

Visited today on recommendations of my dietician, I have coeliac and they were very coeliac friendly, even had brown sauce which I've not had for a while, the cakes aswell mmmm. Will definitely return.

The staff were very busy, so I do understand but I found the wait too long. It was very noisy so not really my ideal place. It was lovely and clean and the staff were doing their best to get through everything and keep people served. It was very busy so I can see a lot of people enjoy it here. It just want tranquil enough for me.

Quality food in pleasant surroundings and friendly service. They managed outdoor dining during the pandemic with great humour, and it is now nice to be able to visit indoors too. Worth the detour as an alternative to motorway service stations.

Absolutly lovely place.. They very kindly allowed me to adjust the menu to suit the complex dietary requirement of the gentleman I support, even though very busy, which I really appreciated.. Their salads are varied, fresh and beautiful, all home made food & cakes.. gorgeous. We will be returning definatly

Amazing gf and df cakes! As a newly diagnosed coeliac ith a lactose intolerance, I have found this beautiful little cafe that does sensational cakes that I can actually eat at. Will 100%be visiting again.

Great food, especially the homemade quiche and salad. And the cakes are amazing too!! Would definitely recommend if you're local. Their takeaway service through lockdown has been a weekly treat on my walks.

Lovely little cafe. Staff very friendly. My partner is a coeliac and we felt very safe eating there, as the owner's two daughters are both coeliacs, so very clued up on cross contamination etc. We had a lovely full English breakfast. Would recommend to anyone in the area.

This is a wonderful place to eat in Draycott between Derby and Nottingham. Wonderful home made quiches, sandwiches, salads and cakes. Highly recommend.

I made a visit here for a business related meeting at mid-morning on a Tuesday. The venue was pleasant and the service was ok for the number of patrons. I didn't try any food or cakes on this occasion but the tea (made with leaves)...

We went to Fintons the other day and I was amazed by their wide range of gluten free options. So many cafes and restaurants claim to be gluten free friendly but only offer 1 or 2 things to eat, however Fintons has a wide selection...

First visit to Fintons and thought it was just 'ok'. It was very busy, which is always a good sign, but it was very noisy and the noise carried throughout the building and was a bit off putting. I struggled to choose something off the...

For me this is a coffee shop that can't quite decide what it is... Greasy spoon or boutique tea shop? It kind of lives in the middle. Perhaps if it had a better ventilation system and they got rid of the plastic tablecloths it would swing more towards the boutique feel. Good try... Check out Appletree for a better example

This is modern village coffee shop with good coffee and good food. That's what I needed!

A delightful cafe. Friendly staff. Freshly baked delicious food. Daily specials refreshed regularly. Popular and often very busy. Relatively expensive for a two course meal and a drink. Capacity sometimes limited as tables sometimes prebooked for birthdays etc

A lovely warm homemade scone with friends. The scone was fresh and warm it tasted amazing. Very friendly staff and pleasing atmosphere the inside is very clean and welcoming. Highly recommend a visit :)
