Nice relaxed cafe. Had avocado and poached eggs on seeded toast. Yum!

A great addition to their menu - The Noodle Bowl. You get to choose what you want in it. Tastes amazing, lots of it, great price. As usual, Terrie and crew take good care of you.

Me and my partner decided to nip in for a quick coffee and breakfast after her job interview. The food was amazing and the staff were so nice, we will definitely be returning again.

Me and my wife went in this morning for breakfast. Cooked beautifully and tasted amazing. The staff were great, very talkative and wonderful experience all round. I wish I had more days off in the week to go 👍😁

Very nice cafe with good customer service. Had a standard breakfast with the egg & tomato changed for an extra bacon and hash brown as I don't like them. Only issue was the price.....£8.95! I didn't realise until after I had eaten the food as I was going by the price shown on the photos of the menu from Google search which shows a price of £4.95 which is a realistic price! Sadly won't be eating there again due to it being vastly over priced! To the owner, you need to delete the old menu photos off Google search. Value for money 2/5 hence the score for food below.

Great food although a little expensive and not enough food. Staff are polite and helpful, it's a good cafe but the wayfarer on Osmaston Road is cheaper for same quality food and more of it.

22/7/23 - 1st time and FINAL. I was surprised to see a Yorkshire Terrier sat at a table. It was sat in some kind of pet carrier/or possibly a baby high chair ... It was being fed sausage (from a white plate) which had been cut up into small pieces for easy digestion by the dog in question. I quickly drank up and left without delay. This is a totally true observation, which was witnessed by the owners/staff. The cafe area also doubles as ad-hoc toddlers creche for the staff. 1☆

Called here today Wednesday 26th April 2023. ordered coffees toast and teacake. Coffees(Lattee) had no flavour at all. We had drank our coffees before the toast and teacake arrived, the problem was the toast and teacake were just luke warm which was not good, buttered toast is meant to be hot. So not happy at all and will never go there again.

If you haven't been here yet, you absolutely have to go! The owners are incredibly friendly and the food is fantastic. Personally, I'd recommend the pizzas as they're made fresh and are among the best I've ever had!

The freshly cooked breakfasts for my son and granddaughter were lovely. Child friendly with books and games to borrow. On road parking just round the corner. Highly recommended. Thank you.

Caffe Torta is on the main road through Borrowash, opposite the large free co-op car park. We took the kids, who enjoyed writing on the chalkboard wall and playing with the free board games. Lunch/brunch for us was avocado and poached eggs on granary toast, and frothy decaf cappuccinos. The kids shared an omelette and had a free babyccino each. We were pretty full so we took some cake to go, which was a nice treat! Terri and the team were friendly and personable throughout and stamped a loyalty card for us to enjoy a tenth hot drink free.

Friendly family cafe, great service always with a smile. Highly recommend.

Very pleasant place for a snak, I only had a bacon sandwich, which was very nice so I will go back again and try something else. The owners appear to be really friendly.

I'm new to the area, suffer from anxiety issues, made to feel welcome. Sat down felt a little uneasy to be honest.. orderd a flat white coffee.. To be honest the flat white, was not up to usual standard.. It was extremely week, tasteless , to be fair.. again it was piping hot, so I spilled the coffee down my coat....I drink a lot of coffee mainly the flat white...it was like, a extremely week lattice. So for that reason my score or 4 uut of 5 stars is a fair reflection of my experiences.

Not being that keen on pizza I was sceptical but wanted to support a local business. The service was excellent, all Covid precautions were adhered to and the food was excellent. I would encourage anyone to give them a go.

Ventured out to try Caffe Torta for the first time today as actually didn't know this place existed until I saw it on here. Arrived and staff advised us to put our details on a piece of paper and put it in a jar for track and trace and to sanitize our hands - good start. We were seated in a corner which was fine by us and we chose our meal from wipe-down menus which were limited but actually were perfect for lunch or a late breakfast. We chose paninis, mine halloumi, my daughter had cheddar, our server even suggested chili jam to go in my panini which was perfect. Our food was cooked to order and was very tasty and accompanied with a side salad and crisps (posh crisps too). Good starting point for us was that all the order came out correctly, quickly and was hot. The decor was modern/rustic and clean and airy, no steamed up windows! The lady that served us was very pleasant and made sure we had everything we needed. Will definitely be back to sample more food!

What a lovely evening. Another place that needs to be booked. This eatery opens for breakfast etc, again under current pandemic book, also opens Thursday and Friday evenings. As there is no alcohol licence bring your own, personally I like that, some may not but it is opposite a supermarket. The seating is plain, simple and clean, excellent 👌. The menu is also simple, with Gordon Ramsey on this, not too many items but good choices. They also cater for vegetarian and gluten free, make sure to ask if what you want is available to meet your needs. So why 5 stars? From the moment of arrival we were given a warm welcome. The staff were attentive, without being intrusive, answered questions clearly and seemed to enjoy what they were doing, which is always a good sign. The food and drinks, there is a selection of non alcoholic drinks, were well presented and enjoyable. This may not be the dimly lit, romantic setting to choose for a marriage proposal, yet for a good meal I would recommend that you give it a try. That said don't all rush, I want to go again.

Very poor. Me and my husband had halloumi wraps in which they had split 1 slice of halloumi between 2 wraps and it was uncooked! Also poor menu selection. Very disappointed

Visited this place a few times on our cycle routes to Derby and Elvaston Castle. It is always a friendly place with a good honest menu. It is not your plush cafe with loads of extras but a very clean ,relaxing and stress free destination. ( Constructive comment: Please provide better hand drying facilities. A communal towel does not have star rating in this present virus sensitive world)

Visited here today Tuesday 3rd March 2020 for the first time with wife, daughter and grandson. Wasnt too busy and got a table ok. Good menu and decent prices. Staff were very friendly. Toast was very good with toast being thicker than some places and a good dollop of marmalade. Tea was good, would like bigger cups of coffee. Only other gripe was I think sausage in sausage cob was microwaved and tasteless-cant beat frying them. Good selection of toys for kids plus large blackboard.

Quite a cosy little spot but a tad pricey

What can I say, excellent food, great service and friendly staff. Have visited several times now for a breakfast and coffee and I haven’t had a bad one yet! Loyalty coffee card is an added bonus. If you haven’t visited yet, do so, you won’t be disappointed.

I go through Borrowash quite a bit and I always wondered what this cafe would be like. Today I stopped at this coffee shop... I was greeted by a friendly young lady and she was smiley and welcoming. I went to order soup but they were out, which is OK as places run out of things especially if home home made. I ordered something else and was a chicken and salsa wrap. I waited a good while for food approx 20 minutes, when it was served the lady was pleasent. The wrap, was nothing special, pre cooked chicken mixed peppers and salsa, I was quite disappointed with the filling as there were only 3 small thin slices of chicken breast, clearly from a packet of pre cooked chicken and the wrap was loosely wrapped and torn so half the filling was falling out. I felt that the food was just thrown on the plate. There were also supposed to be cheese which was not in the wrap. The food was not great quality and not good in presentstion. I would have thought that if your going to skip on the staple ingredient you will have to make it up by bulking it with salad. There were also nachos which were a little stale.. On the other hand the cuppachino was lovley and hot and served with a lotus buiscuit. The meal which was recieved by the people next to me looked OK and smelled nice... I would have complained however I was quite pressed for time. So I have given this 2 stars and hope the next time I visit it is a little better. We shall see

We cane in here yesterday ( staying with sister & brother in law who live in Borrowash ) Great food .. friendly & attentive staff Cracking pot of tea too Lovely surroundings with a nice touch of “quirky” to it ..certainly caters for all ages.Love the way they support the local community too My husband said the fish finger sandwich was very very good and the bread was very fresh too .. extra nice touch with a pot of beans on the side too

Went in feel like not welcome girl at counter she saw me come in but she just walk away to do something in the back she knew I in front of the counter waiting to order coffee I was standing there for few minutes she still not come out then I went to sit at the table for bit still no body come out to take my order. Have one lady was sitting in front of the counter talking with another customer I think she working there too because had apron on but seam like one want to serve me . Then me and my friend just walk out went to another coffee shop never want go back again. I think it nice coffee shop because I live around there is good place to go for coffee with my friends but not feel welcome at all :(

Popped in for a coffee and cake whilst my husband was doing other things. Not a local so knew nothing about this place. Pleasantly surprised by this airy clean cafe. Had the hottest cappuccino I've ever had, so many places serve it luke warm. Had a lovely homemade cupcake and all at a very reasonable price for the very good quality. Newspapers are available to browse whilst you enjoy your cuppa. Will definitely return when in the area.

Lovely cafe right in the heart of borrowash me&partner had a lovely English breakfast wonderful friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere then just a short drive to elvaston castle country park.

What a warm,welcoming cafe!..staff are attentive without being overbearing.The food is fresh with good quality ingredients and the coffee is excellent.

Lovely coffee, comfy cafe with nice staff and free Wi-Fi. Will use again to sit and do some work or for a chilled out drink. I only knocked off a star as I went in during the morning and wanted something breakfast like with my coffee like a pastry. They had cake a biscotti cake which was ok, but not amazing. Look forward though to trying the other delights on offer.

I’ve been meaning to try this cafe for a while and I’m glad that I’ve finally got round to doing so. I found it to be a cheerful, friendly place serving good coffee. The lunch/snack menu had some interesting options too, so I’ll be back for another visit!

The ladies that run the cafe are lovely. Delicious homemade cakes and coffee and really reasonable prices. I came in with my baby and they couldn't do enough for me, they understood when he had a meltdown (no hitting or eye rolling!) And had books and toys for babies and toddlers and a chalkboard wall for older kids. I will definitely be back again soon

Very sad to say my friend and I visited Caffe Torta for lunch today and was met by a young lady who looked miserable. The table we sat at was sticky and unclean so we asked nicely if it could be cleaned prior to us eating. The young lady didn’t appear to be very happy about our request but proceeded to clean it anyway (with Mr. sheen furniture polish). I personally would have used an anti-bacterial spray. We ordered our food, I had a ham sandwich with a salad, the tomatoes were going rotten as they were black inside. This would have been seen by the person preparing the meal as the tomatoes came chopped. The plates were smelling unclean as though they had been rinsed in water without detergent. We muddled through lunch then after a while decided to have another drink. We got to the counter and the young lady was hand writing a note regarding closure. We were completely ignored whilst she wrote her note and kept waiting whilst she then decided to go and stick the note on the window. Having stood there waiting and being ignored for long enough we left the cafe and went elsewhere for a drink with a lot better atmosphere. We will not be visiting Caffe Torta again and neither will we recommend it. Such a shame really as a little attention to detail and a better attitude would have had us returning and recommending other people.

Great, local place to meet up with friends or call in for a drink. Friendly atmosphere and helpful staff. There is Wi-Fi available so I was able to take my computer and do a bit of work. You can also leave with the self satisfaction of funding a local business with reasonable prices.

Friendly greeting as soon as you walk through the door, dining area is well laid out with very good decor. Menu is quite small which I like, paninis, bruschetta, toasties etc and a decent selection of cakes on view. Decided on a Panini and coffee and followed that with a scone which were all tasty and enjoyable. Service is quick and efficient, well worth a visit.

Menu has interesting Italian options as well as a good range of the usual suspects in sandwiches, paninis, bruschetta. Specials each day for tortellini in broth, and soup. The Italian afternoon tea of meats and cheeses sounds enticing. Excellent local roasted coffee. Relaxed atmosphere, friendly and efficient staff, happy to make a bespoke toastie for me. Found this place while delivering a car to a local dealership. This is a new venture run and owned by two lovely smiley ladies. The coffee is wonderfully tasty with deep caramel tones and it is one of the nicest coffees I have tasted recently. They serve teas as well and also panini's. The cake served here is very very good. Carrot cake here is recommended and is moist with a gorgeous texture. They sell items that are hand made locally such as a great line of treating cards, necklace and bangles ect. The shops furnishings are great with no two items matching. Chairs are all odd and the tables are each individual. Two nice leather lounge chairs near the doors and a wonderful church pew against the wall which finishes off the look of this place. The counter top was made from recycled scaffolding boards. All the design work put into this shop was by one of the girls here so her heart and soul has been put into this attractive coffee and cake shop. If your passing, nip in. It's relaxing and they have free WiFi too!
