The food was decent pub grub. Bit of a strange one as the restaurant is completely separate from the pub. It meant we were in an empty room that felt disconnected from the atmosphere from next door. It was all nice enough though.

The Prince Albert is the place to eat if staying in Eastbourne . The inside is done out to a high standard, the staff are super helpful and friendly , we had a small dog and young child and they went out of there way to accommodate us, where prices are very reasonable as well. The starters , mains and puddings were all delicious , i recommend the lamb main .

Finally somewhere in Eastbourne that serves decent roast! Heard about this from a friend who recommended, so glad to have booked. Service was incredible, Lee and his wife Claire were super friendly, helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. The roast was absolutely 10/10, fresh local produce, all home cooked. Gravy was amazing, roasties were incredible and meat was cooked to perfection. Not to mention the puddings.. so so so tasty! Highly recommend and will definitely be returning. The restaurant itself is also super pretty, I didn’t even the Albert had a restaurant in so was a real surprise!

Great place for great music, ideal place to go if you enjoy dancing as plenty of room. Has a big garden area and car parking too. Drinks are a bit pricey, especially if you want a double spirit, normally you would get a bit of discount for a double but the last few times I have been I have been charged double the price of a single - hence the rating of 3 stars.

The bar manager is misogynistic and aggressive. We witness him grab a member of staff and shout at her in her face in an aggressive manner. When we confronted him about his aggressive manner he then became very threatening towards ourselves and involved the bouncer. The bouncer then asked if I am a feminist and then proceeded to tell me that “just how it is here” and as a tourist I should “mind my own business”. It disturbs me that the men running this pub have this view of women which is incredible misogynistic and don’t care that anybody is being mistreated in the work place. As a woman avoid the pub at all cost, it is run by the worst of the worst. That being said the bar tenders are wonderful and so welcoming. As a tourist our experienced was ruined by witnessing the bar manager abusing his staff and then abusing us.

Having eaten here in the past I was underwhelmed by the choice on the menu. I can't remember ever having eaten a 'sharing Camembert' served with stale sliced white bread, chopped gherkins and a small bowl of Olive Oil before. The mains were a long way from 'home prepared', more like Mum's been to Bookers (no disrespect to Bookers) and my wife's chicken tasted overcooked with a can of Campbells Soup thrown over for good measure (Not wrapped in bacon with a cream and white wine sauce).I'm all for a small menu, but I would expect a better standard of cuisine from an establishment calling itself 'Gastro'.

We booked a table for 3 for Christmas Day 2017 for 2.30pm having preordered the food. The starter was served at 3.15pm and the dinner at 4.15pm, still waiting for the dessert at 5.15pm. We got so fed up waiting that I went to the bar to complain and was told 'You should have said something". Came here last night with friends for a meal and the live music. Lovely airy restaurant. We all had baked Camembert which was not cooked through and was hard inside. We should probably have said something, but just got on with it. Two of the main meals , the fish and the curry, were lovely but both pies and accompanying veggies and chips were cold. We did get the chips changed, but declined to have the pies reheated as a quick zip in the microwave really spoils the pastry. Shame as they were really tasty and could have been lovely. Staff pleasant but didn't seem that interested really, and service was quite slow even though the restaurant wasn't that busy. Wouldn't come back I'm afraid.

We have our favourites when it comes to nipping out locally for a roast lunch on a Sunday. Today we decided to try somewhere new and went to The Prince Albert pub restaurant in Old Town, Eastbourne. We are both foodies and somewhat connoisseurs of fine food etc. and certainly know good food from bad. We are certainly going to add this place to out short list of pubs that do decent roasts on a Sunday. The roast Sirloin of beef was flavoursome and melted in the mouth. The gravy was divine. The roast potatoes were perfect - crispy and brown but soft and fluffy inside. The Yorkshire pud was very good - large crisp and homemade, definately not Aunt Bessie's. The selection of fresh vegetables that accompanied the food were fresh, perfectly cooked and imaginative. The stuffing ball was a lovely addition. It was hot. We hereby put The Prince Albert at the top of our 'where to go locally for a great roast' list! Probably the best roast beef dinner we have ever had...

I have not written a tripadvisor review for a little while now. However after seeing Paul Cs totally inaccurate, and quite frankly rude review I feel I would like to correct some of his inaccuracies. A review such as his can do much damage and is completely unfair. All because he didn't get any stuffing!!I am a regular in both the pub and the restaurant. I have had many meals with my family here and have never been disappointed. If in the bar on a Sunday morning you actually see the meat, which is cooked on the premise coming out of the oven and being carved. All the staff work very hard on the floor and behind the scenes, the bit you don't see!!The reason the more elderly (how rude) lady was talking to a customer was to discuss our next family gathering. Yes the customer was me!! Communication with customers is exceptionally important to make sure that the customer will be satisfied. Sue may Will be new but is exceptionally helpful and certainly not elderly!! If the standard of food and service was not there we would not continue to return . We spend a lot of money here for this very reason. I am disappointed that a grown man leaves such a rude review just because he got no stuffing!!Come to the Albert, you really won't be disappointed

The "bar manager" can't take a joke, it was a relatives birthday and we decided to spend it in the Albert, it was great, live music, good atmosphere......... until, to bar manager decided that, although I'm competent enough to write this review, was too disrespectful, of someone, for having a completely innocent joke, to remain in the bar!!! Wouldn't Listen to any reason, just Asked the bouncer to remove me, for to be honest......... a shag.......... which is completely inappropriate and unjust!! Therefore requires new bar management in turn! It was a completely and ridiculously childish manoeuvre and should have been thought about more before any further reaction was necessary!! Anywho, enjoy your unjust and strict experience in the "Albert" what a great pub.............

We were visiting friends in Eastbourne for the night and are always a bit wary when they say they have found a good pub with good food (past experiences lol) anyway this was a pleasant surprise. It wasn't that busy but then it was only a week after new years. The service was great and so was the food. Only two of us had starters and we all ordered different mains and everything was great and tasty. Afterwards we were able to go through the bar and into the pub as it was raining outside, they had a band playing called Frankie goes (I think) and must admit they were a really good band and it was a great evening. All in all I would go back next time we visit.

I previously rated this 5 stars but the standard has gone downhill this year. The food is still of a good quality but is now typical 'pub fare' as opposed to the extra quality last year. Sunday lunches no longer have stuffing, the yorkshire puddings are out of a packet instead of handmade, the gravy is now poured over the meal when it arrives instead of in a gravy boat and if you choose beef, it is sliced very thinly instead of the two slices that were previously carved. I would question whether it is now carved from a joint in the pub or more likely, purchased by them ready sliced. It is almost as if they have lost their chef and are now making do. I'll keep you updated when we visit again to see if there is an improvement. The waitress is such a friendly and helpful young girl who does everything possible to ensure you enjoy the meal but she doesn't seem to be helped by anyone. Last Sunday there was a more elderly lady at the bar chatting to people but who did nothing to help the waitress who was rushed off her feet. If everyone worked as hard as the waitress it would be an improvement.

Lovely looking pub, went there with family and ordered the Sunday roast. The food came out looking lovely with separate vegetables, however when we started eating the food had a burnt smell and taste. As we were all hungry we carried on eating but told our waitress, who told the manager who came to speak to us. We again told him that although the food was lovely the gravy was burnt and was spoiling the taste of the dinner. He went away spoke to the chef who agreed it was burnt. When the bill came i fully expected a discount, free drink or something by way of an apology but we received nothing.. very disappointing and would prevent me from going back.

I am trying one restaurant / pub every week in Eastbourne to find somewhere that does a good meal at a fair price, so far I have been disappointed. One of my wifes carers recommended the Prince Albert so I thought I would give it a try. I had the Beef Pie, mash & veg, it was well presented and nice and hot. Whilst waiting the Landlady came and introduced herself to me and we had a good chat, I told her what I was doing and she said I would not be disappointed. Disappointed I was not, I enjoyed every mouthful, I finished off with ice cream and Coffee. I will definitely go back and try something else on the menu and recommend anyone wanting a good well cooked wholesome meal to try The Prince Albert.

I have not had such a great meal in a long time - and I go to London to eat too! Krista, the manager, was outstanding in her care and attention and concern that we had everything we needed. And the food was incredible - compliments to the chef - the tastiest prawns, fantastic ceaser salad, apple crumble that was out of this world. My friend loved his food too. We will be back. Thank you. One small thing is the parking - the boss blocked me in with his car thinking I was a stray parker as they've apparently had a lot of issues with that; not sure what can be done, but would have been nice to have been able to just get in my car and go. A minor irritation in the scheme of things; the food, service and ambiance were FANTASTIC!

On holiday with one of my sisters and our mum, had gone by this pub a couple of times but the outside had put my sister off from going in, looks very loud and sports entertainment, not somewhere you want to eat. But I suggested we take a look as the restaurant should be separate from the pub, so we stood at the door 5.30pm opening time for the evening and the young manageress just opened the door at the same time, she was very friendly invited us in to look at the menu, my sister was really surprised with the interior it was lovely , our mum not being very tall always have problems with the height of the chairs, but there were a stack of cushions we could help ourselves too and make her comfortable. The food was excellent fresh and hot, couldn't fault it, fish and chips, chicken and steak all three dishes were lovely. The interior pale green top wall with a white painted wood panel below, wooden floors and the table and chairs also wooden, decor not to over the top, fresh looking, wish we had gone in there earlier during our holiday as it was the last day of our holiday so only one visit. We had a lovely chat with the manageress (forgot to ask her name) but she was very welcoming and interested with our views on the place. We did say the front of the building put you off a bit as it does promote the pub side more than the restaurant. But having been in would recommend and when in Eastbourne would visit again.

Our third visit to this local pub and the food never disappoints. We all had roast beef and it was delicious. Well cooked, fresh vegetables and lashings of gravy. Well worth a visit if you in Eastbourne for the day. Special mention to the staff, especially Libby who is v attentive and looked after us so well.

Went for lunch having rung first to check if dogs were allowed in the restaurant and were told they were.We arrived and took our dog its lead and were almost immediately told our dog had to be kept on its lead, we did say our dog stays with us but this was not accepted. We brought treats with us for our dog as he is used to having them and sits on the floor and eats them throughout the time we are in a pub. Normally most places are quite happy with this but I noticed a man kept coming into the restaurant from out the back and looking down at the floor where our dog was sitting and had a really bad look on his face, I got the impression he wasn't happy with the treats on the floor and my husband told the waitress that we would pick up any our dog didn't eat.We were left to feel very uncomfortable during our meal and the atmosphere was not good in this place this time. We enjoyed our meal last time far more.We were asked if we knew what we wanted to drink before we'd even sat down! My husband asked for a diet coke but I said I didn't know. There was no drinks menu, only a wine one and they all appeared to be on the dry side, which I don't like, so I asked for a water. The waitress bought a bottle of water to the table and I said I'd meant tap water - it is normal to be asked if you want bottled or tap, not just brought a bottle of water! I wasn't impressed and was left feeling I was in the wrong! My husband had a meal from the specials board - calves liver which he said was very nice and it was priced £11.95. I had the mezze board priced at £13.95 - I think this was very nice but I didn't get everything on the menu - just a few leaves with a lovely dressing on one corner of the board and parma ham, salami slices and something else, same size as the salami but it wasn't chorizo (I've certainly not seen one that big before anyway!). There was one little pot with oil in (which tasted horrible to me), which had a little bit of balsamic vinegar at the bottom and another little pot with an onion relish in, which was nice. I was bought some warmed bread slices, which were really nice but missing were the olives and hummus - nothing was said about these? Shame as I like those and the price charged for what I got was far too much. There was one other large group in before us of 8 people. We had dessert of bannoffee pie - which was a large slice and I had a chocolate and orange tart, which was a long, narrow rectangle but didn't taste very nice - neither of us were impressed with them! They didn't taste homemade and mine was a little frozen still - very, very cold. The ladies was clean but the light was not working in the loo itself.Shame our experience wasn't as good as before.

We went into one bar and chose a seat. We chose food from the menu on display on the wall and the bar. We were told you can't eat in here as they only served food in the restaurant. Confusing signage!!! The restaurant was empty and devoid of any atmosphere. We were told we had the choice of 2 tables for 2 which were in the middle of this customer free room. I chose another table for 2 by the window. The waitress then went to her bookings diary to check if we could sit there haha. This was at 5.30pm and clearly, judging by the empty street, the room was not about to fill up. Rude rude rude. We walked out.

I know the Prince Albert well for the best pub to see live music but until last weekendhave never tried the new bistro bar.The decor and lay out is fantastic and is totally separate from the live bar making it a snug place to dine. The food and drink is second to none with an ever changing menu. The staff made us feel very welcome and I highly recomend a visit I will certainly be going back.

The Prince Albert is just a short walk from our new home, and after having been told by several people how good it is, we booked dinner there the other Saturday night for the first time. And what a wonderful find it is. The dining room is stylish and comfortable, the service manages to be very friendly, super-efficient and unobtrusive all at the same time, and the food is very very VERY good. All three starters were exceptional, as were our mains of sea bass, pork belly and sausages - superb ingredients cooked with real flair. Followed by first-rate puds. Great attention to detail - everything beautifully presented. Couldn't fault a thing.

We were a party of 9 which included a vegan. We phoned ahead and they assured us that there would be a vegan choice. In fact the soup was vegan and there were two Vegan main courses to choose from so thank you chef. All meals were demolished even though the portions were very generous

This is pub food at its best, quality food, generous portions and a warm and cosy setting. So many visits for a pub meal in Eastbourne end in disappointment or mediocrity but this really is top end. Anyone who says it's a bit pricey should compare this to what they get at your bulk standard pub. You get what you pay for and the Prince Albert gives real value for money ! Really excellent family meal, including the kids menu.

went to visit friends who had just moved to Eastbourne and we thought we would try the prince albert pub/ restaurant, and what a find with live music at the weekend friendly surrounds and the owners Anne and Terry who couldn't of made us more welcome, and the biggest plus of all was the restaurant from the décor to the food it was a ten out of ten, the Sunday roast was to die for, can't wait for the next time we are down there, would recommend this place to anyone.

My husband & I moved to the Eastbourne Old Town area on Thursday last week. We previously lived in Wimbledon, so it's a big change for us!!! To our delight we have already found the most amazing Sunday Roast (I'm not exaggerating when I say it was probably the best I've ever had) in the Prince Albert Restaurant. Not only was the food amazing (I had the roast beef and lemon meringue pie) but the service was great and very friendly. I was extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the toilets too (that is one of the most important things to me!). Anyway I've attached the photo of my lunch. I would suggest you try it if you haven't already. I understand they have a new chef now (started last Wednesday), who used to work at The Pilot Pub in the Meads #AwesomeLunch #BestEver #WeWillBeBack
