I am here weekly and on the whole I enjoy my visits. There is a lovely atmosphere, the service is good and the tea is nice. I sometimes order a croissant, and the last 2 out of 3 times it has been dry, as if at the end of its life. Would be great if the staff could be more aware of this and remove items once they are past their best, as they are not cheap.

Great cafe, the staff are always so friendly and make excellent coffee. Shame they have been having WiFi issues recently, last 4 weeks or so, making it unsuitable to work from and I'm sure gives the staff a headache apologising to customers all the time. Hopefully will be fixed soon!

Last visited about three years ago, I enjoyed my latest trip to the Press Room - the cafe (one of 30+ in this caffeine-soaked suburb) with the people-watching stools in the window. The tables have been rejigged, so there are more smaller tables for two, rather than the big shared 'kitchen tables' originally installed when it opened 10 years ago. Gone are the perspex barriers at the counter. It's recently changed owners, but the standards have been maintained and it feels confident and settled. The staff (aren't they always) are key to the vibe. They are bright, smiley and welcoming. It's a real asset to the town.

I visited The Press Room on Sunday just gone. What a buzzy little place it is. Being a decaf drinker, I can confirm they have great decaf coffee beans. WIN! Dine in, was a decaf oat milk latte (Oatly - Barista edition) & it was so good I decided to get a take out, decaf oat milk mocha. To get asked at the till...“Do you want that to be white, milk or dark chocolate?“. I loved that bit. An extra twist to their service. I went for dark and my goodness, was it yummmyyy! They even showcase local artists work, such as @angus_creative (IG account) as shown in photo. I do love a local cafe which supports local artists. 👌🏼 Brownie point there. What's in the paper bag? You may ask...it was a vegan brownie protein ball from @purposefoods_official (IG account). 10/10. I've given 4* because I didn't have a sandwich etc, so I can't give a review on the food. Plus, when I went to order a half price coffee for take out, with the jubilee deal, it was only for hot coffee, no iced coffee / matcha / chai. But saying that, I was very happy with my Mocha in the end. 😊

Really friendly and attentive staff. The coffee and food/pastries are always really nice and unlike a lot of cafes when they're busy, the staff somehow keep the tables consistently neat and tidy no matter how many customers are in the building. The interior has a good amount of power sockets for a laptop worker such as myself, and I've found it's a great place to sit down and work if you need a place to focus. Would argue it's the best cafe in Surbiton, so fully recommend!

I visit The Press Room regularly - for take away coffee and to pop in for a cake whilst I'm doing some work. The staff are so welcoming, explaining what's available and how to check in on their track and trace system. It's a small cafe so they have a system where they like you to wait and ensure others are seated so there aren't too many people walking around. The food selection is limited - some toasted brioche buns, pastries and cakes. But it's definitely a case of quality over quantity. The brioche toasted buns are yummy as are the cakes! Their coffee is fantastic, I also enjoy their smoothies as a refreshing change. As I work here regularly - they really don't mind if you sit in for a few hours (I obviously keep topped up on coffees and smoothies). The seating is comfortable and wifi is strong.

I went into The Press Room expecting the outstanding and positive service they always proudly advertise and was left disappointed and disgusted, clearly this fantastic service they speak of is something they preach but do not practise. The service was below what I expect from any coffee shop, unenthusiastic and unconfident people take your order with no sense of happiness or desire to please customers. I was barely looked at let alone spoken to in a kind manner. I ordered a cappuccino, reluctantly as the price was somewhat expensive, and was immediately shocked by how watery and foul tasting it was. Definitely wasn’t worth the money. The atmosphere is poor and forgettable, there is no personality or reason to keep this place in mind for future visits and it’s definitely not worth your money. I wouldn’t recommend.

When the sun shines, The Press Room - close to Surbiton station - folds back its front windows and opens out to greet the world. This chummy little independent coffee shop in the heart of Surbiton does excellent sweet and savoury food, good coffee (it isn't cheap - but quality isn't) and teas. I would have to say that the teas are a little overpriced, although they do come with their own individual hourglass timer on a little wooden tray. It's a good meeting point, although the smaller tables really are small, to cram as many people in as possible. A good buzz.

The range of teas, hot chocolates and coffees is such a treat – I have always met friends here, it's a real local gem. Unfortunately, food is a bit pricey and no real gluten free options currently, so I've had to stop coming since being diagnosed with coeliac disease. They had the best carrot cake I've ever eaten! I still pick up their raspberry pastel de natas for my husband occasionally on my way through Surbiton. It is rather small inside and full of people working on their laptops; if you want a seat, come before or after lunchtime – you'll be waiting a while otherwise.

Stopping off in Surbiton, on the way to a football match nearby, I called into The Press Room which is close to the rail station for lunch. We returned from a couple of weeks in Portugal only two days ago and there each place you visit has its own local version of “Pastel de Nata” the custard tart, so what was the first thing I noticed behind glass at Press Room. Yes you have guessed it. Anyway, having visited here a couple of years ago, the quality of the toasted sandwiches are just as good as before, the coffee is excellent, and the staff friendly and efficient. The food is good and the service excellent. The issue I have is the size of the platters in relation to the food and table size. I had a croissant which was a quarter of the size of the wooden chopping board it sat on, the board was just over one sixth the size of the table. Why not just use a proportionate side plate? As a customer I'm not into boards, slates, trowels, mini buckets, spades etc for my food to arrive on.

I say average as the guys working do nothing wrong, it's just so expensive to eat here. Coffee is nice, great in fact and not that I'm regular I do pop in from time to time. I only have one answer to the costly food is to cover the cost of too many staff on. This is what slows down service, some clear roles need to be assigned and stick to them. Very flappy and hectic at times and for such a small shop it could be an oasis of calm.

Without a doubt this is where you'll find the best pot of tea in Surbiton! In fact, it's better than many of the offerings in expensive London hotels. The individual teapots given to each customer, even when 2 friends request the same type of tea, puts the nearby competition to shame. But, what really makes The Press Room special is that the customer is greeted with a broad smile which, when faced with the demands of a particularly fussy customer (me!), is still as welcoming. My awkward request was granted as if it were no trouble at all. I'll be back!

I visit this place every Sunday around noon. I did the same today, and the shop was very quite, which is very unusual. this place is normally packed. I ordered extremely hot soya latte and palma ham sandwich to go. I got a coffee, which did not look right. So i asked if this is my order, then i told them i ordered extremely hot soya latte. It was a mistake so they corrected the mistake and gave me a wrong one. I waited a few min and gave me the sandwich. When i got home and opened the bag, I found that sandwich was not the one i ordered; it was ploughman 's sandwich. I was quite disappointed. I called the shop immediately telling them that you guys gave me a wrong coffee and the sandwich. do you know what they said to me? nothing they can do now. All they can do is when i come to the shop, they will give me the right one. what a joke. I spent nearly £9 for what? wrong drink and food????? This is just laughable. I understand people make mistakes, so that was fine. but what upsets me the most is their attitude. What is worse, the shop was very quite....what is their excuse? really. they cannot even apologise to me properly. seriously.this is just a joke. I will never visit this place again. Today is a good example - the server looked at me straight in the eye, was really pleasant and seemed really genuine about ensuring I was happy. One day they'd run out of my favourite stuffed croissant and, even though there was a queue, someone went around the back and made one for me without hesitation. I have been coming to the press room for a couple of years now. They have a great layout for if you want to read or with friends. A nice feature is that when it is sunny then they open up the front of the cafe and have a breakfast bar so you can sit in the fresh air. I used to love their coffee but have found that recently the quality has got a little inconsistent, depending on who is serving. They used to do an awesome flat white but now it is just like a small latte - just very milky. However the blend of coffee that they use is really distinct and good. They have nice cakes and food but could do with more variety so probably not great for lunch.

My first visit was on a hot day so I thought to grab one of their 'Melt" cold drinks. By far the worst cold drink I had ever tasted, it was room temperature milk with a faint hint of chocolate. I passed it back and asked for more flavouring, staff were more than happy to do so. However the second one was almost as bad.I visited again today (another very hot day). This time I ordered a 'Frappe' although not before checking exactly what it consisted of. I was informed it was coffee, crushed ice and a little bit of milk. I was offered a free syrup but declined as I wanted a coffee.I thought it couldn't get worse than one of their 'Melts', it did. There was no crushed ice in sight, it was again a glass of semi cold milk with no flavour or colour whatsoever. I handed it back and asked for some caramel syrup but that couldn't save it. What was especially weird was that it came in two glasses(?) Needless to say I didn't make it to the second glass.I have had a sandwich before which was tasty. Croissant today was below average.Staff are nice. Wifi is decent.

Met a client here for a brief meeting. Enjoyed being able to sit outside and discuss matters discreetly and with a fantastic cappuccino to nurse while doing so. Clean, tidy and good service. Recommended.

We had a stunning Mozzarella and tomato panini while watching the world go by. The staff was very friendly, the place was clean and we truly enjoyed it.

Well situated in the centre of Surbiton, near the Station and Waitrose. It was a warm day and I needed a cool coffee bar, making great coffee. Well I got the latter, but the temperature inside was very uncomfortable. They do have seats outside, but they seemed too unstable to be safe. The front of the establishment does open up, and this is exactly what was needed. However, coffee was great as was the service.

You can get good coffee here. I usually get the v60, but also have had the espresso. There are snacky bites too, like cakes, pastries and sandwiches. Free internet makes this a good place to sit and work for a little with a coffee. A definite upgrade on standard coffee chains like Costa or Starbucks in my opinion, as the coffee is much better.

I've been meaning to visit here for some time after driving past numerous times down the high street, and I can thankfully now say that my wait was worth while! Visited on a busy Saturday afternoon and was immediately greeted and served by a friendly member of staff. My Flat White tasted wonderful, a real quality coffee and I loved the pretty little red mug it was served in (and the milk art too!). The Tuna & Cheddar panini was equally as pleasant and was served swiftly after the coffee. All in all it was lovely visit and I hope to be back in soon to sample many more of your coffees :)

Just arrived in Surbiton from Bath, which is one of the centres for speciality coffee in the UK, and dropped in to the Press Room. Great place, buzzing with activity, families with children rubbing along happily with creatives scribbling away. Speciality coffee sometimes has to be discovered and I notice that on the list of drinks here there is a V60 brew. This is definitely a specialist method of making a special cup, and quite a tricky one to get right. Well I am sitting here with a fantastic full bodied Kenyan filter tasting of apricot, lemon and honeysuckle. Brilliant! At the door these guys have a bell to ring if you love the coffee. Reckon I'll alert Surbiton on the way out by making a lot of noise!

We visit the Press Room on a regular basis and are never disappointed. There is an extensive drinks menu, the coffees flavoursome and the milkshakes are very tasty! Cake portions are generous and there is a lot of choice. We have had lunch here and were left feeling very satisfied! Several great lunch options for vegetarians are available :) much better than the standard chain coffee shop experience

Living and working out in the sticks the only things that pass me are pheasants, wily foxes going back to their dens first thing in the morning or the odd badger scuttling around at dusk. To find myself in Surbiton late on a Friday afternoon was like going through a black hole - anyway I digress! Being given instructions by my friend on where to meet her after work I set up camp in this quite busy, yet friendly café.There was enough room on the window bench for me to get on with work and watch the world and its wife go by. The coffee was one of the best I've tasted and when the friend arrived I was introduced to the lemon drizzle cake and the lemon and lime crush - something that my conservative tastes would never have considered! I can't complain about the drizzle cake either - very moist and zingy! What I liked too was the community feeling to the place - there is a book swap section and also the option to buy a second coffee that is given to someone in need - excellent idea! You can also ring a bell as you go out if you liked the coffee ... and yes I did ring it (once only - honestly. What is great, too, is that you have two hours free in the Waitrose car park just a minute - fantastic for my horse and cart - next time just got to think where I can park the geese!Honestly though, great café, great prices, great ambiance! Well done!

The best coffee place in Surbiton. The coffee tastes of coffee. They also have good cake, wifi, and electrical sockets. Lots of people use it for work or study. (No sofas, if you want sofas, go to Nero round the corner).

We were a large table celebrating my daughter's 18th birthday. We were made to feel very welcome from the moment we arrived. All our dietary requirements were met including 2 vegans within our group. All the dishes came together which isn't easy for a table of 15 All freshly cooked and plentiful, so much so we couldn't manage dessert! Fabulous cocktails , prosecco and Rose wine Highly recommended

From an açai bowl to a bacon buttie (please make sure you take advantage of everything this fantastic ‘Secret’ has to offer) your every need is met. We indulged in the passion fruit and white chocolate cake combined with the carrot cake served in a beautiful cake box and both completely moorish. The flat white was also delicious and the price was very reasonable.

I would not even give Fat Boys Cafe, Kingston one star!! Raw bacon, stale mushrooms. Extremely rude and impolite man taking orders at front desk. This place may be acceptable for people who do not know what a proper hot breakfast is, and polite customer service. Would highly avoid at all costs. Waste of money. Very disappointed.
