The Norbiton in Kingston upon Thames

We hired the function room for a birthday party, the room was great, nicely decorated and had its own bar for us to use. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Amazing food, drinks and service, an overall perfect experience!

My partner and her friend enjoyed their 30th birthday celebrations at The Norbiton and it was a great success. The room was a great space and they let you decorate which was a nice bonus. Food and drink was all great!

The Norbiton complained to Google Reviews to get my perfectly valid review taken down (further validating my 1* review). I have copied it below. Rarely do I leave a pub due to poor customer service, the service at The Norbiton managed it. Came to The Norbiton specfically to watch the Chelsea verus Spurs match. Got there half hour early to get a good seat. Got that table right next to the bar, in front of the screen. The more comfortable seats next to the screen became free with NO RESERVATION SIGNS. Great, we'll upgrade - so we moved . All the tables/ seats get taken, and the pub gets full. Out of the blue we get kicked off the table because it is reserved. Manager admits there are no signs. Clearly someone messed up putting the signs up. Manager - "There might be somewhere at the back". Well there's not, and people are blocking the screen. Me and my partner have spent plenty of money in here over the years. I was so angry, we decided to leave before the match started. I'm not giving you guys any more of my money this evening. Don't bother going to The Nobiton.

There’s nothing better than being ignored by the bar.

Really disappointing. Came for a pizza just after 5 so it would be quiet, but the service was slow, and the food that arrived was stone cold. We waited for the rest of our order, only to find out after enquiring at the bar that the fryer was broken and the food wouldn’t be served—nobody had bothered to tell us. When we complained, we were offhandedly told to ‘come in any time for a free meal’, with no proof or proper commitment. How do they expect that to work?! So fed up we left without getting the kids desert, even though we’d paid for it. A massive let-down overall.

I hired the garden room for a baby shower. The space was perfect, great service and delicious pizzas.

Really lovely pub the decor is so cosy and it was very welcoming of me and my mum friends with our babies. Nothing was too much trouble. The pizza is also awesome.

We had a class drinks at The Norbiton. The staff were great, they reserved us our own area, even putting up a board with our booking details. The pub has a great cosy atmosphere.

The Norbiton is one of my favourite pubs, I love visiting and getting a pizza. I hired out the garden room for a surprise birthday party and had such a wonderful time. Staff were great at letting people set up the table beforehand with decorations and helped us with storing the cake in the fridge until it was time to light the candles, which they helped with too! Great atmosphere as always.

We have used the function room at the Norbiton several times for a meeting. The team have always been very accommodating and willing to let us use the space. Good drinks / food and service. Thanks.

This used to be a really nice spot for family drinks post school and Saturday afternoon - with reasonable pizza. The recent staff are rude and threatening to children and they have made it very clear they don’t want kids in the pub garden .. well look at the photo of a sign there today - good luck getting kids to sit in silence in a pub … I for one along with many families in Kingston will no longer be giving them my money .. silly business decision

I’ve been coming to the Norbiton for many years but it’s never occurred to me write a review but it totally deserves one. The bar itself if is spacious and warm with a stripped back feel which feels welcoming. Their garden is great and with booths and covered areas it works equally great in the sun or cooler days. Moving to the pizza it’s just lovely, sourdough base and a good selection I can honestly say I’ve never had a bad experience here. If you get the chance do pop in and try for yourself.

Ordered a pizza. Absolutely disgraceful what was sent. Does the chef not care or something? Such a letdown. Burnt, squashed, no basil, soggy in parts. Disgusting. EDIT: Had a wonderful call from Ian, the General Manager. He kindly, professionally and very courteously apologised for this. The fact he contacted me so soon after this (the next day) speaks volumes. Thanks, Ian. (I I have changed the review to 5 stars to reflect the amazing customer service).

I booked the Norbiton for my leaving drinks and the area reserved was lovely, great drinks and delicious pizza! Friendly staff.

I recently visited for lunch, enticed by the special pizza offer that I had enjoyed less than two weeks ago. The pizza was delightful as always, but to my surprise, the barman informed me that the lunchtime deal was no longer available. I had specifically come for the offer, so this was quite disappointing. Could you please clarify if the lunch deal has been discontinued? We were the only 2 people in the pub at 1pm on a thursday. I paid full price only to get back to my office and see its advertised for £5.50 mid week lunch on your website.

We had our wedding party here and it was PERFECT. The function room is super spacious and has a gorgeous look. The food and drinks were unreal and the lovely staff at the pub were so helpful throughout the whole planning process of the wedding. They went the extra mile to make it special. Absolutely will be back for another event - best party ever!

For such a lovely looking pub i am consistently disappointed in The Norbiton. I live just around the corner and have visited on a few occasions recently and the customer service is just awful. When it is quiet the staff make you feel invisible and a nuisance, when it’s busy they prioritise serving their friends. Tonight i was waiting at the bar for around 15 minutes as people who walked up behind me were being served first and eventually i just gave up and had my partner order instead as i was getting upset. I run a pub myself and would be embarrassed if my staff treated our customers like this. I can understand being understaffed but this is a recurring problem at the pub. The food and drinks are not good enough to warrant enduring this poor level of service. It’s a shame, we would rather walk to another pub further away for better service and better food.

Family Frendly Pub with great atmosphere and pub garden. Unfortunately, they do not accept cash. Otherwise, I would have scored them higher on service. The food is basic but done well to a very good standard.

I’m a big fan of The Norbiton. The pizza has been great for a long time and a great draw on a Monday when it’s on offer. It’s a little pricy for some of the options recently but that’s understandable. The garden is huge and they rotate the beers regularly too and they’re all quite interesting. The price isn’t too bad either for the beers in this day and age for non generic stuff. Only minor suggestion is for a tv in the garden in the summer for all of the sport. Staff were nice and the beer cold and crisp. A very good pub and one of the best in the area.

DONT BOTHER. ordered one chicken pizza and two ham and mushroom pizzas, told it would be 10-15 mins. When we went to collect we were kept waiting another 10 minutes only to be told there were no mushrooms and we had to reorder….for food we’d already ordered and paid for. And hadn’t been told about major missing ingredients. Chicken pizza is sat there getting cold throughout all this. When this pub is good, it’s fine. When it’s bad it is honestly awful - clearly can’t manage its kitchen properly.

Excellent venue for informal family gathering

We hired a room at The Norbiton for a birthday party and were very well looked after. The staff were friendly, helpful and assiduous. The Norbiton has a great atmosphere and I would thorougly recommend it to anyone.

So good to see a packed pub at 6.30pm on a Friday evening. I've been popping in here on and off for the best part of 30 years. And this is the best incarnation to date... Great ambience, great food, great beers and great staff. 5 mins walk from Norbiton Station in Kingston. A brilliant example of a pub getting everything right...

Great atmosphere and beer selection

Attractive pizza - but drier than the Sahara! Ordered no. 20 - Crudo ham, mascarpone, cherry tomatoes, buffalo naturala , shaved grams padono , rocket. Was basically a thin pizza base with those ingredients stuck on top, none of the cheese melted and absolutely dry as a bone - more challenging than the cream cracker challenge! I tried to catch the waiter to ask for some ketchup to at least provide a little bit of lubrication but he was far too busy running orders and then disappeared. I was there with my small granddaughter, who I could not leave for a lengthy period of time to wait for someone to find me some ketchup. Most Disappointing. Eventually got waiter’s attention, by which time it was pretty much too late. He was gracious and apologetic and offered a full refund. Employee more staff!!

I had my birthday party in the upstairs function room. The space was so pretty decked out with fairy lights and with our own private bar. The garden area downstairs is lovely and great for getting some fresh air and taking a breather from the main party! The staff could not have been more friendly and helpful! Thank you so much for making my evening run so smoothly! I will definitely be coming again.

I've been in a lot of pubs over the last 35 years, and this one is up there with the best. The service is what sets it apart. Staff always on hand to take your order. The pizza are perfect.

I celebrated my 30th birthday over the weekend in the upstairs function room at The Norbiton and I cannot thank the lovely staff enough for their service, patience and overall kindness towards me, my family and friends. They tended to our every needs with a smile on their faces, the pizzas were absolutely delicious (we will be coming back just for the food!) and the upstairs bar was fully stocked, so that we could have have the drinks of our choice. The sound system was good and the way they have decorated the room already, you don't need additional decorations really. Overall a great experience. Will deffo be using The Norbiton again for future functions.

I came here last week for lunch with my partner and it was great, we got served by a lovely girl called Amelia I think her name was and she couldn’t do enough for us. She recommended the sausage and nduja pizza which did not disappoint. We would definitely come here again based on this experience and a special thanks again to Amelia!

Good pub but pizzas were really disappointing

Thank you Team Norbiton for making our son’s 1st Birthday so memorable and easy to organise! We booked out the inviting and homely space at the back of the pub and the pizzas and space was just the ticket for a relaxed family get together. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Children and adults devoured the scrummy pizzas.

The bar lady/ waitress was miserable and had terrible customer service. She threw plates on the table and was never off her phone. The atmosphere could have been so much better without her attitude and demeanour.

Never disappoints.... Great Saturday night

We were here in a large group on Saturday night. It was busy and buzzing, the music was fantastic and added lots to the atmosphere. Given how busy it was, service was surprisingly attentive. The food was served quickly, pizza was delicious, chicken wings were yum. My drinks were good, had no complaints on the table. Would definitely come back, wish it was closer to home.

We used the above room for free for a local Residents Association meeting. Staff were so friendly. We were left to our own devices (by choice) and could pop downstairs to buy drinks if we wished. Brilliant local community spot and a very generous local facility. Many thanks to you all.

We had a 50th birthday party and the staff are super friendly and relaxed and helped with everything. Food was amazing and pizzas are definitely better than the usual pizzas you get. We had the best night with space for dancing.

Had my 30th birthday celebrations yesterday at The Norbiton. They reserved the garden area, (great space for 30ish guests) as it was Christmas time it was already decorated with lights we were able to take in balloons and cake. We ordered 16 pizzas for everyone to nibble on and they all had their favourites. (Amazing quality) Loads of selections of drinks (London prices though). We've been before and definitely will return again! 😀

Regular customer to the norbiton for years, the service yesterday was unacceptable. Very rude behaviour and told to leave due to another booking 20 minutes before the booking ( that’s a first ) and was not accommodating in giving people space to gather their kids and stuff. A bit of an advise, change your attitude or lose your customers

The Norbiton pub used to be my favorite pub as is close to my house, the food is delicious and the prices are good. I made a booking for my birthday and unfortunately things didn't go well at all. We ordered a lot of food and drinks and the manager came over to tell us that we have to leave around 4.55pm when the next reservation was booked for 5.30pm. She didn't give us any warning and she spoke to us in a very rude way, pushing and dragging the furniture in order to clean when we didn't even have the chance to gather our belongings. The rest of the staff member were ok, although we had to wait for a long time to order as they were chatting between themselves. Unfortunately my birthday experience was really bad and I don't think that we will visit this pub again in the future.

The Norbiton is my all time favorite pub. That's the only thing I can say about it.

Great atmosphere and the team did a fantastic job of accommodating our large group (with lots of young children!) hugely appreciated being able to catch up with friends and eat delicious food with our little ones. We all had a blast and will be back for sure!

Pizzas are always delicious , had to look twice before complaining I didn't receive the extra n'duja as it was literally 5 pellets worth.

I've been using the upstairs function room at The Norbi for years and it's an absolutely brilliant space. Had a big birthday party there and have also been using it to host regular monthly charity evenings which are always a great success. The main pub is fab too - nice range of drinks, good food and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommended

Lovely friendly local pub. Our cycling club regularly use the pub for events and they're always so welcoming and accommodating. The garden is a fantastic space and the pizza is so good! A big thanks from BellaVelo CC for everything you do for the community.

Decent pub, hidden away. Went in based on reviews - turned out to be worthwhile. Nice large outside seating area, sports on a big screen projector inside. Only downside is no way of viewing the sports outside!

Very nice garden to chill in with friends, but also really cosy inside when weather is not great. Monday pizza for £7 deal is great and was good reason for a pub visit after first work day of the week. Wish the pizzas were sourdough, but otherwise has a good selection of vegan and vegetarian pizza choices. Not too expensive, but not cheap either.

We took our grandchildren for lunch to the Norbiton. The pizzas were excellent. The staff were very friendly. We had a good time at the pub. Highly recommended.

This place was booked for family and friends at lunchtime following a funeral. It was the perfect spot, we had a room and outside space to relax and recover. Traditional and stylish decor, fabulous pizzas and good service.

Absolute unit of a pub. The garden area has more personality than my ex-girlfriend. That's probably why I've spent more time there than I did with her. Too right.

We used to come to The Norbiton quite often. Unfortunately this establishment has gone cashless therefore we won’t be returning.

Probably the best pub in Kingston, great staff, food, drinks (only place I’ve found that has soundwave ipa on tap) and an uncommonly good beer garden.

Food is AMAZING to say the least.. but the service is so slow. Pizza’s serves almost 20 minutes apart leaving everybody eating at different times.. then pudding took over an hour to be served which is ridiculous… but if your willing to wait, the food is great.
