The Prense Well - JD Wetherspoon in Wirral

Usual Wetherspoons standard, a newish modern feel to go with it, breakfast at the start of our break on the Wirral, Eggs bennedict a good start, a good local atmosphere, nice one Tim.

We have visited this place quite often over the past 6 months. Prices are reasonable. Staff are friendly...good service and clean too. Would recommend.

The staff specifically management need clear training in customer service and also how to speak to their staff. Witnessed both customers and staff being spoken to poorly 10/03/25. Would not recommend. Would not return.

A great wee branch of wetherspoons. Good pints, great prices, great service & a lovely friendly atmosphere. Had the beef madras when i visited & it was pretty decent, served with a smile.

the manager is unnecessarily unfriendly and rude, seen the way he speaks to people a few times. costs nothing to be kind

One of the newest Wetherspoons in the area. It's definitely a very strong start, service is top notch, the food is priced as you would expect but the quality is definitely above par. We've been several times and every dish we've tried has been fresh, hot and tasty. Staff are very friendly and attentive, nothing too much trouble it seems. The pub itself is clean, smart and there's always a good buzz about the place. Toilets spotless and well maintained. We'll definitely be back soon 👍

Didnt eat here but been calling in for a pint after work, staying at the premier inn down the road, this place is always busy, no wonder when you can get a pint of coors for £2.63. Tried a pub nearby last week and it was £5.80 for a pint 😞. Really nice place this 👍🏻 typical trek to the toilets but hey ho its a spoons. You know rhe dance 🕺

We were turned away for food because we had a child with us. They don’t allow children in the pub after 9 PM, even though it’s a restaurant. The place was empty, and we were a party of six celebrating a family birthday. We won’t be returning there again. Instead, we were welcomed at Otoo Lounge, where the food and service were excellent. The Prense Well is not really a family venue.

Food is sometimes good sometimes it's not. However been going there quite a while with family kinda become a tradition. Went there tonight was enjoying the family dinner when my drink got taken away didn't have my id on me since I didn't bother to bring my wallet since I wasn't going to be the one paying that night we'rs all obviously not under 18 all of us obviously also over 25 or even older. I get being careful if it's a bunch of lads going out drinking but c'mon it's a family dinner with a cider. It ended up causing arguments between a couple of members of my family and overall just ruined the dinner out.

A high quality experience and a pleasant place to have Breakfast/Lunch in bustling Heswal.Some of the older male regulars could curb their choice vocabularies. Other than that a very good Wirral JDWs.

We had to ask for table to be cleaned..we ordered 2 turkey dinners from Festive menu the meat wasn't good, looked more like processed meat. The mixed grill meat was very tough and food was barely warm..desserts thankfully were good..Will not be returning in a hurry though

I was in a group, but we all ordered separately, quoting our table numbers when ordering. I ordered the burger off the festive menu, and after waiting for a long while after everyone else got their meals, I went and asked the staff to see where mine was. They came back a bit later on with the cheapest burger from the normal menu, not the one I ordered. The staff member said that someone must have eaten mine, but the staff never called out my table number when bringing out the meals, so if they gave someone else my meal, the mistake was theirs. The staff gave the excuse that their manager said there's nothing they can do, and it's basically have the cheap burger or nothing. Poor, unprofessional service. I understand mistakes happen, but to fob me off and refuse to give me the meal I paid for instead of owning their own mistake means I won't be eating there again.

The Staff at Most of the Wetherspoons are great, especially The Prence Well, It’s a shame that the food in All the Wetherspoons is terrible

Lovely place, staff are lovely but FFS tell you're boss to buy cleaning fluid for the glass washer.........if not I will come in to clean the glasses. Dirty/water stained glasses affect you're beer. Sort it out. Best regards Me. xxx

2 meals and 2 pints for under £13.00 is an absolute bargain. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pub itself was very clean and the toilets were spotlessly clean

There’s this one waiter/bar tender who whistles constantly and it’s so irritating it’s driving our whole table insane. We’ve been here since 2pm and it’s now 9pm and he hasn’t stopped whistling. Managers need a word with him as it’s so irritating. Our drinks were waiting on the bar side for 20 mins + after ordering table service, not happy, will not return

Annoyed and disappointed! I visited Wetherspoons in heswall with my wife and a dear old friend of ours. My wife chose scampi and has been violently ill throughout the night. Is this really the standard of food that should be served to customers? Annoyed because I had to watch my wife be violently ill throughout the night. When the meal arrived my wife expressed that the food wasn’t very warm? Yes in hindsight it should have been sent back. But, it should never have been served to a customer not fully prepared? Needless to say we will never visit this place again.

Met some friends for a few drinks. Nice place, drinks and atmosphere all good.

I've been in this establishment one time and I will not go back. The food was terrible. The most important thing when bringing a plate to the table is to make look delicious. I had the American burger, basically a bap with a bird and a gherkin on it. It was pathetic. The chips were cold. That is what chips I got for what I paid. It was pathetic and I will not advise anybody to go in there

Best Weatherspoons pub I know, well fitted out, pleasant staff. Yes, the toilets are upstairs but its weatherspoons what do you expect! Update October 24: Still a good pub, most recent visit for a cheap and cheerful evening meal, £47 for 3 x 2 course meals including drinks (1 soft, 1 lg wine and a craft ale) its an Ideal place for a family or group meal probably not great for impressing a date but as I'm way too old for all that malarkey it's not something I worry about.

I had a very good Peerless ale for £1.99, and was i, and impressed with the great value ale. Nicely decorated, almost all tables clean, and a spacious beer garden.

It was my first visit here but must say this is probably the best weatherspoons I've been to on the wirral. This place is great. Feels a lot more up market due to it being so light and airy, with an open kitchen to the left side, which is great. It really is a lovely atmosphere. Great service with great prices. The terrace on the left side is really nice, too, particularly with the pagoda. The food was a very good standard. The only one issue I had was a pork steak on the mixed grill was quite dry. I'm sure it used to be a chicken breat. That being said, everything was fine, and this will most definitely be my weatherspoons of choice going forward.

Prense Well is great, cheap, reasonable quality food served late. Service is friendly, decor lovely, outside seating available. Wetherspoons prices.... much cheaper than most pubs in Heswall.

Not normally a fan of JDW but this one has very nice decor with excellent service and food. I recommend the all day breakfast with a pint of your choice for less than £7!

Normally great location, usual food, great service and well run. Previous visit app messed up.. which is a wetherspoons problem not the place specifically.. (app said it didn't work, when it did) moved tables because it was excessively noisy. Restarted phone and tried again. When the food was going to the wrong table we tried cancelling the second order with bar staff. No help. Ended up with double food, double bill.

Not your typical Weatherspoons, possibly because it's recently been refurbished. It's been done to a high standard, and the toilets are the best I've seen in any Weatherspoons in the UK. The food is what you'd expect for the price. The beer was good and really cheap. £1.99 a pint when we visited. It's larger than you would think from outside.

Really busy when I popped in August 2024 on a Tuesday evening. Staff were overwhelmed by the Wetherspoons App orders bless em. Went on the day the A level results were released. Had Chicken Masala with rice, garlic naan bread and onion bhajis. Food was nice.

Beautiful Pub, immaculately clean. Only had breakfast, and it was lovely. My pancakes with fruit were spot on and my husband's full English was plentiful and well cooked. Will come again.

Some food undercooked and some overcooked, garlic bread undercooked,eggs were over cooked, that set the tone for the rest of the meal. As there was no starter menu , we ordered side dishes as starters, these came with the main meal. No condiments were offered. Floor under the table still had a few remnants of a previous diner. The place itself is nice and well decorated, the bar staff were efficient, but the dining side left a lot to be desired, had better cooked food from an old greasy spoon caravan on the A55.

Large breakfast is absolutely fab and such good value for money, with as much tea and coffee as you like. 7.60. Very spacious, clean and super friendly service

Went the other night for curry night and when I paid the bill came to more than the price on the menu. I checked this with the staff only to be told that the specials menu was outdated (2023) and therefore charged a completely different price, I believe the staff should have honoured the price on the menu but just completely ignored me. We as a family have been many times for food and drinks but I feel we cannot eat there anymore very disappointed Mr Martin you need to sort your restaurants out.

Really nice pub that’s well designed and decorated. Staff are friendly and there are a good selection of beers on offer. Was a bit tricky to get served at one point, but that’s the only downside of our visit.

Great place for eating and/or drinking. Best price on the Wirral for a pint of San Miguel. Until you turn up on a hot sunny Sunday - and they've run out. . . Need to find a back up venue !!

Lovely interior but it’s the only Wetherspoons i have been to where they don’t give you sauce and bit and bobs like that with your food and never checked if everything was ok like other Wetherspoons do. Male staff member just didn’t seem to care about the customer to be honest. Was clean and tidy which was nice 👍🏼

First time I’ve visited the Prense Well, Heswall… I’d ordered a 1/2 pint of lager & a pint of Doom Bar… got given my Doom Bar & a PINT of lager, when I mentioned to the bar person it was wrong, she said that’s what I’d ordered!! After I said I would never of ordered a pint for my partner, and I actually know I’d ordered a 1/2 pint, she replied with… “thats what I’d ordered, and that’s what you’ve got”!! No apology, or any other reasonable banter to resolve the situation…. Basically, take it or leave it attitude😱 this may seem a bit petty, but what ever happened to customer service and general politeness🙄 Anyway took my service to the Jug & Bottle… totally different service😅 won’t be going back anytime soon🤬

A very quiet Sunday night but service quick and bar staff friendly. Steak and salad were good and the house pinot grigio was excellent.

The best value pub on the wirral

We were visiting the area and just wanted good hot pub food. What a find this was. We were staying at the Premier Inn but to be honest the pub next door looked dire so we walked the 15mins into town after checking out the reviews. The pub itself is so big but you still get that homely feel. The staff were friendly and all our food arrived piping hot on hot plates and tasted just great. I had steak pudding which was a throw back to when I lived up north. It was brill and came with chips and mushy peas. My wife had crispy chicken burger which she said was just as good as she hoped it to be. We both had a couple of drinks and I finished with a double vodka and coke. It all came in at just over £30 . Well done spoons for a really good experience. We will definitely be back in the summer as there is a super outdoor area too. Smashed it!!

As weatherspoons go, this heswall branch is really bright. Enough space for large gatherings and an playful outside searibg area for sunny days. Food is typical wratherspoons. Beat price around. The coffee machines where playing up at times.

Would be nice to use local ales from Brimstage and Westwood alongside Peerless to improve variety. Otherwise an enjoyable place to visit

It was a Wednesday - quiet, no kids, good service it only 18months old so still clean tidy & your feet don't stick to the carpet, another good thing is it's nice & bright.🙂
