The Pot Still in Glasgow City

Great place - an institution in Glasgow. Always busy but not too busy - good atmosphere. The staff are consistently excellent and v helpful, more than happy to get a few bottles down to select what suits you. Very much focused on whisky (best selection in Scotland, I think) - but also has some good beers. You don't have to be a whisky expert - the staff are more than happy to advise, even if you have never tried whisky before.

This bar is quite something. It has a staggering array of whisky, some 1300 different names apparently at last count. Other than whisky the bar is very well stocked. Think about that, if you taste one per day every day... it would take over three and a half years to try them all... !! It is small and can be busy, so be prepared, getting a seat is a challenge. It's a real old world Glasgow pub. The staff are friendly, attentive and know their whiskies exceptionally well. It is not expensive, depending upon the whisky you order of course. Very good value for money. If you like your whisky this is the place for you if you are in Glasgow. Try doing as I did, ask the barman to choose something for you, something out of your normal choice, and totally different. Highly recommended.

Este es un gran bar. Terminamos visitando dos veces en un día, pero hizo un último día completo memorable en la ciudad y una oportunidad para conocer a otros visitantes de la ciudad. El conocimiento del whisky por parte del personal es impresionante, por decir lo menos, y hay una serie de cervezas artesanales para probar. Por supuesto, es solo pequeño, pero eso es parte de su encanto. También significa que terminas compartiendo mesa con otros visitantes si, como nosotros, has pasado una mañana ajetreada paseando por los muchos sitios de interés de la ciudad. En ambos viajes nos conocimos y charlamos con gente que conocimos en el pub. Además, conseguí dos excusas para probar el “Malt of the month”, que en esta ocasión fue una oportunidad para probar whiskys de malta de la destilería Glasgow, a un precio muy razonable de £ 3. 50 por vaso! ¡Excelente! Gran lugar, gran personal y no se puede perder si en Glasgow!

A must stop for anyone visiting Glasgow! The whiskey knowledge of the barkeeps is unparalleled, and the depth of options is incredible. Get a flight of 2 or 3 (tell them your taste and preferences and they will make suggestions), and grab an excellent meat pie for around £5!

Great Pub, good beers, good people

This takes the cake for the best bar I’ve ever been to. They had what is approximated at 1100 bottles of whiskey from around the world. The staff are incredibly friendly and will help you discover what whiskeys are best for you. Local crowd also very friendly and happy to chat.

If you like Scotch and a great time this is the place. Super friendly bartenders especially Kyle. Had a blast and the price was great.

This is my kind of place. Older looking pub with drafts and whiskey galore. Enjoyed a pint or 2 of Guinness with some 12 year Jura. It was busy and took a bit to get a drink but it was worth the wait. Sat next to some locals and chatted about the area, very friendly gents. Staff was super knowledgeable and helped my wife choose a Scotch based on her likes.

Real Glagow pub. Real Glasgow people and good company. And, good beer.

This place lived up to the hype. It's busy, but the bartenders are still lovely and happy to share recommendations for a whisky you may like. Sadly, I missed the meat pies each time I tried, but the atmosphere and service and drams were great!

Used to bring visitors when they were visiting from out of town. Won’t be bringing people here anytime soon. North American (?) waitress won’t serve if she can’t be bothered (she’s no fun!) and a really weird atmosphere, bit wanky. Maybe focus on customer service!! Won’t be recommending anytime soon sadly. Harsh, but true!

Very atmospheric whisky bar / pub with super friendly and knowledgeable staff. We went looking for new whiskies with not much knowledge, but the staff was great to listen at what we like and recommend good options. The pub was full on a Saturday night, but people overall were friendly and interesting. Great place to be.

Irene and I popped in Friday lunchtime for a pint. Girl who served us was polite attentive and poured a fabulous Guinness. When she wasn't serving others we chatted to her about this that and the other. Very atmospheric bar, lots of locals were in, and the whisky's on offer were in the hundreds. We had a super time in there.

Great pub to sample whiskies and beer from the region. The bar is like a whisky altar, and the staff was highly knowledgeable and will even explain the whisky sought or recommend if you aren't a connoisseur.

A super authentic Scottish pub with an incredible selection of whiskey including excellent advice! It's impressive how the employees know exactly where which whiskey is! If you want to experience the pub feeling in Glasgow, you definitely have to stop by here! If we are in Glasgow again, we will definitely come back!

Excellent establishment with various different whiskeys and very knowledgeable staff. I was really impressed with their selection of bottled beers. It can be difficult to find certain German weissbier's but the Pot Still had a variety. (Weihenstephan, Erdinger, etc)

WAS one o f the best if not THE best.. now a bloody tourist attraction … rammed full of loud Yanks… well done you are now part of the Scotland ‘experience’. Ffs hope you enjoy the big dollars…..

Just popped in for a whiskey after my partner said she knew a good place with a few whiskeys .wow 😆.the staff behind the bar certainly know there stuff has a Meikle toir the sherry one and a half craft beer .SUPERB is the inly word .go there test the staff find your perfect drink soak in the atmosphere 👌. We will be back 😀

The Pot Still was an intimate whisky bar with perhaps one of the best peated Scotch selections I've ever seen. Great vibes, congenial bar service, and delicious pours. Will be back next time we're in Glasgow!

One of the more superlative bars in all of Scotland. Spend your money here. Find a dram, make a friend. Admittedly, it’s a crowd on the weekends, but they will find a spot for you. Exhausting whisky offerings. Scotland at its best.

Discovery of this pub with 800 whiskeys, at least! We did not dine there. The waiters advise you according to your tastes, the quantities are generous. Warm decor, people of all ages, lively atmosphere. Sitting or standing, you adapt and have a great time in the heart of whiskey country.

However, the staff help you with your difficult decision to decide your whisky 😄 The AI recommend me as a cheap pub but a cup of whisky cost around 7 pound. You can find the popular and well scottish Ford Haggis (it was my reason for going to this place, it was tasty and not expensive - 5 pounds) as other pubs go and enyoy the visit

'The Pot Still' is a very classical whisky bar in Glasgow. The whisky variety is wide, you can really try many different options and you can get some advice from the waiters. Rather central, it is filled both by tourists and by locals. Not much food is available apart from pies (which are by the way very good!). Reservations are possible for private parties. Definitely advised if you are in the area.

Had fun as a stop on a pub tour. Loved my haggis, nipps, and taties.

Stopped here on the advice of our cab driver. This bar has over 700 different Scotch whiskies. We ordered one flight and a single dram, around lunchtime. Did not eat, as we were not hungry, but noticed they had a number of pies available. The bartender was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed the tasting.

Had a friend visiting Glasgow and had to take them to this pub to show what a traditional pub looked like. Had a drink whisky of course and a pie as this is a classic dish. All very good enjoyed it tremendously. Friendly bar staff they do have Lidl's malts and told us that the island one was a well known one but not which! If you have visiting friends then this is a must stop

An authentic whisky bar. Quite the interesting experience. It seems to be a regular stop for locals and the whisky selection was beyond comparison.

Very cozy and decent place with an intimate vibe and extensive Whiskey and beer selection, also saw people having a good time with wine too. On top of those, the service by the bartenders are above and beyond.

If you come here, you come for the experience. Always packed, but full of friendly locals. Whether you’re a whiskey drinker or just another beer chugging pub goer, this has to be a must on your visit to Glasgow. Only downside is the price. £11 for 2 beers is excessive.

Tremendously popular whisky bar. Very busy the night we were there, but the folks behind the bar took good care of us. Great advice on picking our drams - would go back anytime!

On a Saturday evening it was completely overcrowded. Personally, it was too loud there. But that doesn't always have to be the case

This place is amazing. Frank was awesome and knows everything about whisky. He even knew my formerly favorite whiskey bar (sadly closed but the Pot Still was way better). They don't have a list so go when it is slow and Frank will have time to build a flight to sample. If you like whisky this is the place to go.

Staff are very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. They will happily discuss your likes and dislikes to select the best whisky for you. All other spirits, beers and ciders stocked too, if that is what you would prefer.

Incredible Whiskey, 800 different types of whiskey including 100 international and 700 Scottish. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. They ask you a few questions about your tastes and then offer you two bottles to choose from and always find the one that satisfies you. If you are in Glasgow you can't miss out.

The best pub in Glasgow! The barman was very friendly and really took the time to answer all of my (stupid) questions regarding whisky. I recommend taking one of the flights they offer, you get a paper explaining everything that needs to be known. Place itself is also visually stunning!

Took my son here on a recent visit to Glasgow. I have been a fair few times now. He's never been so flew over to meet me for a couple of days. He absolutely loved it. Not a whisky drinker, although did try a small one but had some great Guinness! This place never ceases to amaze me. Super friendly knowledgeable staff. We were told there is around 1000 bottles on the go! So much to look at! You meet some great interesting people too.

If you want to enjoy a good whiskey in Glasgow, this is the place to go. Be aware, it's small and crowded.

If you love scotch, and love trying new single malts, then make a covenant with yourself today, to come here asap. Tell the very knowledegable bartenders what scotches you have most enjoyed, and ask them to recommend something you've probably never tried and won't find anywhere else. They'll bring you a couple to sniff. You'll then order a double of one or a few of them (they don't seem to be in possession of single measures). For most whiskies this will cost around 5 quid. Yes Londoners, you read that right -- for a double of some unique single malt you will typically pay around £5. My most expensive one cost £8.50. You can pay a lot more for very old stuff if you wish to, but it's not necessary to have a great experience.
