Me and my friend had the most beautiful lunch at the posting pot today! I had the most delicious ham, salad and chutney sandwich and my friend had a tuna melt panini. Both came with crisps and a gorgeous salad. Absolutely perfect. It was so snuggly and warm in there with such a homely atmosphere. Such a warm welcome and we just felt so at home. Will now be my go to place for a bite to eat. 🥰 Thank you so much! 5 stars all round x

Fabulous little cafe at the Post Office just off the village green. We'd been trying to pop in for ages and finally the day fell right (We had manged to order hot paninis for collection once in the distant past, they were delicious). What a wonderful choice of hot drinks and treats, both sweet and savoury. We opted for regular and Earl Grey tea with plain and blueberry with lemon drizzle scones. We will try hard to visit again for a meal, to get the full experience. The staff were brilliant and helpful. Table service and takeaway available. Very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Lots of chatter and a birthday celebration. There's a proper community feel here. I would recommend popping in just for a cuppa and a chat. Toilet facilities for customers including baby changing. There's a slop to the facilities, but please be mindful that there is an odd step to negotiate.

Delicious food and wonderful atmosphere. The staff are friendly and attentive. The food was homemade and fresh and there was a good range of choice. Im vegetarian and had a mushroom and cheese tart with cheese sauce which was delicious. The coffee was great, and they have a selection of teas and other drinks. They were also very kind to my dog and gave her a water bowl. Highly recommend.

From start to finish, this Christmas lunch was perfect. Mulled wine, Prosecco, delicious food and lovely staff. If my Christmas lunch is half as good, I’ll be very happy! Marvellous!

We decided to go out for breakfast and popped into the Posting Pot. Absolutely gorgeous food and drinks, dog friendly (Just as well for us as he likes to say hello to everyone) and extremely friendly staff. If you are ever in the area, this is definitely a must!!! On top of it all, the prices are excellent :)

Love this little cafe! You can’t go wrong, whether it’s breakfast with friends or lunch with your mum. Breakfasts are delicious with high quality produce, a great main menu and lots of yummy specials. Always well looked after by Liz and her wonderful team and always a lovely, friendly atmosphere! My wife and myself are holidaying in the Lake staying at the Crown Hotel in Wetheral and shortly after our arrival we were given a lunch recommendation at the nearby Posting Pot - which is half cafe/restaurant and general store/Post Office. We were warmly welcomed by a very nice lady (Elaine or Liz?) - who also gave us some directions for a walk along the River Eden - and we were soon enjoying the Soup of the Day (Broccoli) which was served with crutons and some lovely granary bread. It was so delicious that we returned to the Posting Pot after our walk for Tea for Two accompanied by a generous slice of home made local fruit cake. I suspect these won’t be our only visits to the Posting Pot!!

Perfect breckie, lovely wee place, great service. Excellent Post Office and shop too. Avoid those M6 service stations and support local businesses like this. 10 mins off junction.

Oh my goodness! If you want the most delicious ever afternoon tea, get to The Posting Pot (ring them first!). Honestly, I don’t think you could get a better one anywhere! Little cup of soup, Brie and pesto tartlets, a selection of beautiful sandwiches, cheese scone with cream cheese, various salads, coleslaw, carrot sticks with dip, cheese wrapped salami, bruschetta with tomatoes or mushrooms, scones with clotted cream and jam, strawberry and cream cupcakes, grapes, chocolate covered strawberries, divine chocolate brownies, summer fruit Eton Mess, Prosecco and tea and coffee! I think that was everything! Yes, we were full!!! 😋😋😋Thank you so much Liz Blythe and Elaine White. Wonderful! 😘🥰😘

Lovely breakfast and delicious looking cakes

Had breakfast, cheesy scrambled egg on toast & bacon roll. Called back later and had hot drinks, scone & key lime cake. Cakes home made, scone fresh and delicious, cake spongy, moist & lime rind tangy. Specials board looked good too. Good service. Lot of tables. Local paintings on walls. Post office next door with shop, overlooks green.

I love coming to visit this coffee shop always great food, amazing cheese scones and cakes. The staff are all so friendly, it's a wonderful place to have a coffee and a treat. Should book on a Saturday lunch time as gets very busy.

Really lovely little place ... Think just 4 or 5 tables ... With another couple outside if it's fine weather ... Obviously very popular ... Great atmosphere ... Cheerful ladies serving ... And best of all the most delicious, non-greasy, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and toast ... Friends had the breakfast with eggs which looked equally delicious ... And lovely coffee too ... Was just before we left for the journey home from holidays and was just perfect ... 😍😍😍

I had a very scrummy brie, bacon and chilli jam panini at The Posting Pot today! Took some cheese scones, rocky road and a caramel shortbread back for the family which were a huge hit. Will 100% be back.

We have had some great experiences of village shops with cafes recently - and this is a good example. We were looking for somewhere for a break - lunch and a walk - while travelling back from Scotland, and this lovely village with its special cafe, post office and shop combination absolutely fitted the criteria. We were able to get a park right outside - but there is never going to be a problem getting a park somewhere close by. There are lots of outdoor tables but at the time we arrived, it was damp outdoors and everyone had headed inside. We were able to get one of the tables in the big bay shopfront window and to enjoy both the outlook and the natural light. Friendly service and fresh sandwiches with a cafetière of coffee - so good that after our walk, we returned for scones and more hot drinks. There is a toilet at the rear, an attractive village green opposite, some lovely walks that you can set out from here, and you are just up the hill from the equally attractive railway station. A pleasant cafe in a pleasant village.

Super gem of a cafe in the heart of Wetheral, great cup of coffee, my raspberry scones were lovely, and staff really friendly and welcoming. The menus for all day looked really good, with a nice variety, and all the food being served looked excellent.

Today was a limited menu after a very busy Jubilee weekend and it being a Monday. It did not matter as warm feta cheese covered in sweet chilli sauce with avocado and warm pita bread took our fancy = beautiful.. never had this before but will definitely be returning. Then Eton mess in a brandy basket - so wanted to ask for another. The service was the best. The staff are very friendly and a wonderful atmosphere. Beautiful tables outside with red and white checked tables cloths. They looked brilliant! I will be back very soon x

A warm welcome, excellent service and delicious food waits for you at The Posting Pot. We enjoyed a relaxing and very pleasant time and the choice is excellent for such a small eatery , There is plenty of art work to look at whilst you wait for your individually made food to arrive with a smile. I look forward to many more visits.

Simply one of best cafe menus I’ve ever seen such range and quality. The food was superb something I would see in a classy restaurant and the staff were so friendly. Nothing but excellent all round, great value for money and cosy interior decor. Had to leave a tip, this review and will be back with more friends and family in the future!

Great find in a lovely village setting a short stroll from a spectacular river. Friendly and SAFE service and good quality limited menu although they had sold out of chicken by 13:00!’ Food tasty. Busy with locals which is a good sign. Toilets and adjacent PO shop. Excellent

Absolutely first class in all aspects, food, service and atmosphere. I wish they were open of an evening as I would love to have taken my wife and friends there for dinner.

My elderly mother and I have lunch almost every week in the lovely Posting Pot. We love the food, the coffee, the decor and best of all the wonderful, friendly and helpful staff. My mother is unable to walk very far so if I can't park directly outside I stop nearby and take her in to our table, sit her down and then go and park my car. The staff are familiar with our situation, bring water to the table and wait for me to come back whilst making sure that my mother is comfortable. I want to take this opportunity to thank all the staff here for their support and brilliant service. I only wish I could give them 10 stars!!

We were staying at the Crown Hotel but fancied a little walk before breakfast. This did amazing coffee and the cheesy scrambled egg with bacon was to die for.

Stopped here going to the lakes with a couple of friends. Can’t fault it. Staff dead friendly and food was excellent & fresh. Highly recommended (especially the Rice Krispie bar!)

This is a very well run cafe, serving excellent food. It has few covers and a not too extensive menu, which means what they do, they do well. We noted there is a For Sale sign on the building, so would be unsure of the business's future. Just an enjoyable experience.

My family and I stopped in at the Posting Pot for lunch while visiting Wetheral. We didn't have particularly high expectations but were pleasantly surprised, both by the quality and range of food on offer, and by the friendliness of the staff. Well worth a visit if you're passing through this beautiful village.

I just love the Posting Pot. I go there most days, its a ritual, Gym then for coffee at the Posting Pot. Lunch is fantastic also. I follow them on Instagram and see what delicious delights they have on the menu.Something for everyone.Izzy & Tom

Had a great bowl of soup for lunch followed by piping hot coffee and a lovely traybake. Friendly staff. Went back the next day to buy cakes to take home. They were so tasty.

We were staying at the Crown Hotel for a few days and wandered up to the Posting Pot for lunch on Wednesday 17th October. I had a cheese and ham toastie and was very impressed with the quality of the food and the fresh salad. The staff are very friendly and the service was excellent. We will definitely be back when we return to the Crown. Excellent value for money as the food is so fresh.

We checked this place out on Trip Advisor and we are glad we did! The reviews were correct! Lovely place and people! The food was well priced and a great little selection!

Popped in today after a lovely walk along the river. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly, we just had a light lunch but it was very nice and staff very attentive to my two grandchildren

Popped in for Breakfast last week with a friend and had a beautiful Breakfast, fresh well prepare good atmosphere and a Lovely coffee to go with it. Great Value as well as Friendly staff very attentive bright and bubbly, it was a pleasure to call in and we will be back no question about that. On passing thru the village this little cafe caught our eye. So we about turned and called in for a cuppa. This led to us ordering a full breakfast and a pot of tea. Very nice ! Sausages are very tasty.

Visited the Posting Pot today with my 6 month old little boy, my Mum and my Gran. Food was excellent and staff were lovely, warmed my babies food no problem at all and one of the cooks even came from the kitchen to make a fuss and hold my son. Lovely, welcoming atmosphere and great food. Will certainly be back as I never got to try to cakes that were on offer and they looked AMAZING!

I visited the Posting Pot with my two daughters. We have been before and found it a nice place to go for lunch. It wasn’t busy and we quickly decided what we all wanted. Then we sat for over 5 minutes being ignored by the waitress. It wasn’t until I got up and went to the counter (in 3 steps - we were that close), that she took our order. One daughter wanted soup - ‘can she have it with white bread please?’, answer ‘no, it only comes with brown’. Ok, so I ordered it with brown. I also ordered two sandwiches - one with Brie on brown and one plain cheese on white, 2 hot chocs and a tea. The hot chocs arrived, but no tea. I waited several minutes - the waitress could see I was tea-less but continued ignoring us and wiping the counter. I reminded her I was still waiting for my tea. She rolled her eyes, prepared the tea and then literally slammed it on the table, no apology. The food then arrived - a little mediocre for the price but that’s ok. My daughter had salad in her sandwich - I took it to the counter. ‘I asked for plain cheese’, ‘no you didn’t’, ‘er, I’m sorry but I did’. Plate snatched away and again, slammed back down with the salad removed, bits of grated cheese all over the plate where clearly it had been hastily removed. We then ate our lunch in silence while she stood 2 meters away, glowering, making us feel uncomfortable. I paid and we left, clearly not welcome back. No pleasantries, nothing. Perhaps she was having a bad day - whatever, we won’t be going back.

We have been a number of time in the last two years and always found the coffee and scone to be very good. The selection of cakes and drinks is very good too. The venue is small and cosy inside and well used by locals, the outdoor seating is convenient for dog walkers to use.

Cold and rainy day in Wetheral so called in for breakfast having walked the dog. Great quality and made changes as requested without any fuss. Price a little top heavy for a cafe but would return.

Came early at 9am to avoid the crowd and ordered porridge and the full breakfast which I shared with my toddler. Everything was beautifully cooked, quality ingredients and washed down with English breakfast tea! Hands down the best breakfast we've had in the UK so far.

Lovely little cafe. If passing anywhere near Weatherall I always try and call in for a coffee. The cafe has a lovely menu, food is delicious and beautifully presented, with good service. Worth a detour to this lovely little village.

Este café nunca decepciona. Excepcional calidad de comida y servicio con una sonrisa. Comida casera y adecuada teteras y tazas de té que sea una experiencia encantadora. Seguido de sándwiches recién hechos, scones de queso, jamón y pasteles preciosos Palma pasteles caseros y bollos con mermelada y nata! Regados con un montón de té y café. El personal era muy amable y servicial, nos dieron cajas para llevar a casa cualquier comida que no logramos comer mucho! 10 / 10 de nosotros! Asegúrese de reservar con antelación, bien merece una visita. asegúrate de hambre!

Visited this place regularly for the past few years as I live in the village. Always a warm welcome, very friendly staff and great home-made food. The breakfast it great, very flavoursome, and the home baked Scones with jam are delicious. Can get busy in tourist season, so go early in the day. On sunny days it's location in the village makes a great place to sit outside and watch the world go by.

We often pop in here for a coffee and a snack after visiting relatives in the village and it is always a pleasant occasion with very friendly and helpful staff, tasty - if nothing spectacular - meals but some absolutely fab home-made cakes and traybakes and excellent quality coffee. Whether sitting at a table or relaxing in the sofa by the window, it is a chance to unwind and also catch up on some of the goss!

My friend & I Enjoyed a delicious Afternoon Tea at the Posting Pot yesterday ! It started with a small cup of tasty soup (unusual with an Afternoon but a nice touch) & then freshly made sandwiches, homemade Sausage Rolls & a mini savoury tart - Delicious ! The homemade scones with jam & cream were lovely & the cakes were gorgeous - all homemade & washed down with a good pot of Tea ! Our only complaint was there was too much for us - but we were given boxes to bring any leftovers home ! Well were a visit - you won't be disappointed (you do need to pre-book a couple of days in advance) Thanks to the Friendly Girls for looking after us so well - 10/10 VERY Enjoyable

I had a ham salad and all it contained was lettuce, one slice of tomato, one bit of cucumber and literally 2 mouthfuls of ham with 2 tiny bits of feta cheese .Very expensive at £6.50. Could have done with some onion and more salad options. Starving afterwards.

£5.50 for a small bowl of lettuce, tomato and mozarella cheese is not good value for money. Yes, I know I asked the sandwich contents to be as a salad, but did expect the price to reflect the change or to increase the amount of ingredients but neither happened.

Love this cafe. Delicious sandwiches and cakes. Get in before 11.30am for a lovely full monty breakfast. Lovely staff. Only one teeny tiny request - could you offer "ordinary", sliced bread as well as the "speciality" bread for sandwiches/toast?

My husband and I frequently visit the Posting Pot as it has such a lovely welcoming feel and the homemade food is always superb.I can't resist the delicious homemade treats which Di and Caroline make. The raspberries scones are simply the best around and my husband loves the gluten free coconut slice.We sat outside and had lunch recently from the new menu. I had steak, blue cheese and caramelised onion sandwich and my husband had the bacon with oozy egg and avocado sandwich (in gluten free bread). Neither of us were disappointed; both were absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I know Di, the owner, takes great pride in all she does and it certainly shows.Have a look at the photos on Facebook - they will definitely tempt you!

We have visited this coffee shop on numerous occasions and never been disappointed.This is one of the most lovely coffee shops I have ever stopped at. The food is very well prepared and homemade; the service is very quick and efficient; and for the price you pay, this quality of food is exceptional!One thing I will say is that the scones are very nice: they are homemade and taste beautiful. The cups of tea are also very nice, served in nice little cups (which all look different!).Next time we are going to Wetheral (which will definately happen as there is a lovely hotel next to this place which we will stay at again!), there is no doubt that we will stop here for a drink and a bite to eat.I would highly recommend anyone to come to this café. I very much doubt that you will be disappointed!
