It's a Wetherspoons! Large, cheap beer, no proper bub atmosphere.

Good value for money.. nothing special

We called in to the Posset Cup for an early lunch and ordered on the phone using the Weatherspoon's app. It was our first visit. The meal and drinks were delivered promptly. The food was very acceptable and certainly good value for money. Although there were plenty of customers, the pub wasn't too busy and the atmosphere felt chilled and relaxed. The decor and furnishings were tasteful.

Really busy pub, nice atmosphere. Could only order on the app due to a problem with the tills. The app was playing up and at times, the order wouldn't go through. However, when it did go through the service was quick and food was good.

The cleanliness of the interior leaves much to be desired... However, the fish and chips were very tasty and I would come back to eat this dish again.

One of the better Wetherspoon's, it doesn't look like blokes go there for a pint of breakfast and the carpets weren't sticky!

Very pleasant Wetherspoons - I'm not always a fan their food is inconsistent. Yesterday, service and food were good.

What's better than a usual Wetherspoons? A Wetherspoons with FREE car parking right outside. The large private car park serves the pub and some well known shops, and is free for up to 2 hours, BUT, using the QR code just inside the pub doorway, you can extend it to become 5 hours free! The pub itself is quite a modern building, but nonetheless interesting in its own right. Portishead itself is quite a vibrant town, with a good selection of shops. A modern marina is just a few hundred yards opposite the pub and is ideal if you had a meal, then wish to walk of some of those calories. I visit this Wetherspoons on a regular monthly basis (between 2pm - 5pm), and have found it to offer: good efficient service; good food and drinks; polite staff; a calm relaxing atmosphere.

One of My favourite Weatherspoons Pubs. Beautifully done. I think it attracts a good crowd there. Friendly Staff. ofc affordable food and drinks. only thing is it can get very busy and loud in there after 5pm like any other pub 😉

Another great wetherspoons. Big pub with plenty of seating. Popped in for lunch on way to Cornwall. Great food as usual. In a busy location but plenty of parking. Really popular place. Ordered through app and no problems. Not a very long wait as usual. Recommended.

Great location, lovely friendly, helpful staff, super decor throughout, clean and well equipped toilets. The whole place has a nice and cozy atmosphere.

Cheap and cheerful, quick service good product range 👌

Tired of walking into this place and it being so dirty. It’s situated in a lovely area and the pub itself is nice on a good day but over the last year it has gone drastically down hill with its cleanliness. We wont take people there now even for a quick bite and only go ourselves for convenience. The dirty tables and floors are not just on busy days but even during the quieter times. It’s such a shame it was so presentable and tidy especially for a weatherspoons in previous years and we were always grateful for an affordable easy meal after work or when people visited.

It's exactly what I would expect from a Wetherspoon pub. It's housed in a modern retail unit but inside it's been made to look a bit like a pub. It has that distinctive Wetherspoon's smell. I haven't eaten there but I can say that the drinks I've had have been very reasonably priced and good quality, and I've always been served fairly quickly. I would recommend it for a quick pint or two or if you're looking for somewhere with more reasonable prices. If you park in the adjacent car park (shared with Lidl) make sure you enter your number plate into the tabet on the bar to avoid a parking charge.

We really enjoyed our meal at The Posset Cup, I didn't get what I ordered, but I'd been in two minds which one to have, so I didn't complain. There was a quiz on and where we sat the sound system was awful, I got up and walked around the room. There were only a few tables which were affected due to a pillar in the room. I did mention it to the bar staff. This made it just noisy, too noisy for us, so we finished our meal and left.

We had breakfast there. Quite nice for the money you paid. Good price on drinks as all wetherspoos.

I've ordered my drinks but I can have it outside because I've got my dog with me. The Weatherspoon policy is to pay for your drinks, but still, no dogs allowed. Shame. Especially with pets friendly hotels around.

Stopped off on our way back from our holiday for food. Lovely place, great service. However, my friend is Coeliac and although she chose a gluten free option, and spoke to staff prior to ordering regarding food prep and contamination, she became ill within an hour of eating there.

A modern Withies in a great location. Food rarely disappoints.

Made the mistake of ordering a breakfast. Food was barely warm, eggs looked like they were cooked 3 days ago, overcooked bacon tasted like cardboard. One large sloppy mushroom, a few beans and two tasteless sausages. The toast arrived on the same plate on top of the beans so delightfully soggy. There’s a reason it’s cheap. A thoroughly regrettable experience!

Called in for food and beer, good value and great service.

Me and my partner had a mixed grill it was terrible.. My lamb was raw!! Minute stake and chicken dry... So disappointed.. Mentioned it to staff member.. Who just said OK!! This was disappointing.. The week befor I had Breakfast there and it was delicious!! Come on pull yourself together.. For now I won't be back. 😒 But I will keep an I on reviews.

Very light and airy for a Wetherspoons. Great before/after a walk around the marina

Wetherspoon's isn't my favourite, the breakfast is always luke warm the bacon is limp and tastes of all the other things cooked on the griddle,eggs are often over cooked, but my bestie loves it ! However the staff are friendly, helpful and often go beyond the minimum wage. Is this my top pick? Absolutely not!

Can't complain about the price in this day and age, great place

We popped in on a Friday lunchtime and it was packed but we still got a nice table. Fantastic boozer typical spoons very competitive prices and a really nice menu personally I love the curry’s. The variety of beers is outstanding. Lovely clean table and very friendly staff oh and how reasonable is the food overall I love it. My only negative is spoons stopped serving Fosters. Keep up the good work.

Was very busy and woefully understaffed so service was slow. However, that is not the fault of the staff who were there. They did their best I under difficult circumstances.

We ordered pizza for lunch, it arrived 🔥 and black at the edges. Needles to say it was sent back. After 15 mins a new pizza was delivered again it was burnt. The table staff were very good and apologetic and said that a manager would come to talk to us. After waiting for another 20 minutes with no sign of the manager, we gave up and walked out. Not the best experience, it is unlikely that we will return, it is a shame as we live locally. But portishead has lots of places to eat, this wetherspoons will not be on my list.

My husband and my self when visiting Portishead IBIS Hotel we visit The Posset Cup we love going there for food it has a great atmosphere its clean and tidy we have 2 or 3 meals a day during our stay and great staff they work hard and one member of staff called Ryan is fantastic very friendly making us feel welcome and remembered us each time we went in will be returning again this weekend well done, best Wetherspoons we have visited.

Had a fantastic breakfast for the price, 3 of us had full English and coffee for £22 what's not to like? All cooked well and served quickly. Couldn't give 5 star for atmosphere as it was only 1030 am 😄

Food was terrible. Incinerated burger and a few chips. Wetherspoon is rapidly going downhill. Prices going up and portions shrinking. The place was practically empty which tells a sad story.

My experience of this place is horrible. It's very noisy and everything echo's. Yes it's cheap and cheerful for drinks and food. The whole place needs a revamp and a good clean it has gone downhill to when it first opened. The staff are nice and friendly but seem to be run off their feet due to it being very busy and don't have time to clean down the tables in-between. But it's a very popular venue due to the cheap prices. I prefer quality over quantity. Therefore I didn't stay there very long due to the noise level and I won't be going back.

Thought I would give this place a go. On arrival the atmosphere seems good. I got a table to find none were clean, Even wiping the table down it was still pretty bad. Ordered a sirloin steak medium rare and a pint. Pint was good but sadly the food was vile. The steak was basically pure gristle, I wouldn't even feed it to an animal. The rest was tasteless and not all that warm. So to sum it up. Good if you want a quick pint, but I would go elsewhere for food.

Very dirty, underneath table food, cutlery and tissue sticking to our feet. Sticky dirty table and rude staff who begrudgingly and halfheartedly wiped down but ignored the mess under the table and no apologies offered. We forget to order chips with the kids meal, Moody girl said we would have to order again separately. Staff working here act as though they are too good for the customers. Wouldn’t want to come again, very unpleasant. Food awful too and partner not even given steak knife for his steak. At that point we couldn’t be bothered to engage with the staff again as they couldn’t be bothered to engage with us. It was half empty and they never even bothered to ask if our food was ok.

Daytime,for eating in is not bad,but in the evning/night... staff is stressed,security guy aggressive, and racist!!!

Friendly staff, food hot & tasty & cooked promptly, like other Wetherspoons prices are creeping up and some meals are no longer fantastic value. Fairly busy pub opposite the train station. Some bench seats have seen better days & were less comfortable. Would recommend and will return.

A pleasant dining experience and good value

Good, reasonably priced food. Staff are both friendly and efficient. Service is pretty slick even when it's busy: the kitchen team are clearly on the ball behind the scenes. As with most busy and popular dinners, it's worth getting in early for the best experience. Breakfast is good, and a bargain.

Ryan. That’s the name I got given. Let me describe him. Shoulder length hair. Probably Ryan is one of the managers on duty. If you are in my trade of work it’s easy to spot one. I had a very quick drop in visit between 7pm till 7:22pm on evening of the 2nd of April 2024. I was hungry and in need of a hot cooked meal after a very long day. All tables were occupied with people both eating and drinking. I went to the bar and I approached Ryan and asked Ryan if I can sit anywhere to eat and drink. Ryan said sit anywhere and to order at the bar. “Don’t forget to mention your table number” - Ryan said. Found a table. Peruse the menu and ordered food at the bar. Sat back at the table at around 7:05pm and Ryan walked up out of nowhere and said “Did you not see this sign? This table is booked in 25mins.” Ryan then walked off. I didn’t see the signage till Ryan pointed out. If Ryan had bothered to tidy the table which was cluttered with menus then my dear Ryan. I would probably have seen the poster and probably sat elsewhere. Ryan definitely need some additional training in customer service. In fact Ryan needs to learn the etiquette of good manners which clearly Ryan lacks. It’s embarrassing because couple on table 6 and also next to me saw and heard how Ryan had talked to me. Unfortunately for Ryan, I wasn’t embarrassed at all but rather thankful that Ryan wasn’t a team member in one of the pubs that I’m associated with by trade. It’s bad customer service just like one that Ryan has delivered is something that makes me wonder why Wetherspoon's have such a bad reputation with service. I wish Ryan gets to read this and maybe learn this lesson that if Ryan was nicer to customers, it doesn’t cost Ryan a Penny but instead Ryan may have a huge impact on their great experience be it for drinks or food or both. Which of course Ryan failed in my books. I wish and hope Ryan the best in his future endeavours, Ryan probably might not even care after reading this but that’s okay however I will be very happy to share with others in my trade how not to be “Ryan”!

Had a lovely waitress, sadly the bartender not so much. Ordered our drinks previously which came to our table but when we ordered for a second time we didn’t realise the table number was wrong (despite having been brought to our table previously using the same number?) We brought this to their attention as soon as we could with receipts but were met with rudeness and abruptness claiming ‘they had completed their service so it’s not their problem’. We understand the mistake on our behalf however we basically lost £20 with no politeness from the servers. A simple refund, free drink or even just an apology and I wouldn’t be writing this review. Clearly the manager is a lowlife who’s stuck working this job meaning they have no decorum or care. Very disappointing.

As Wetherspoons go, one of the better ones. Service was good, staff friendly, food was decent.
