Fabulous veggie sausage in batter!

Cold chips chicken curry with very thin sauce greasy sausage in batter wouldn't visit again....

The food is amazing, the curry sauce goes so well with the crispy fish! The staff are friendly and overall I had a great experience.

Pre ordered for 8 o’clock (at 7:15) got to shop,was ready at 8:15,not the end of the world. Order was 2 medium chips,cod bites,sausage in batter and a steak and onion pie. Was given the wrong pie (pictured,which was dry and empty anyway) chip portion was very small in both bags and the fish bites were falling apart,the quality of the fish was good but the batter was soaking and they’d thrown a lemon in with it which was then also soggy. Have been here a few times and always been impressed and never leave reviews generally but had to with this,very disappointing

Really sorry to place this review for the Penarth Posh F&C. Ordered online a few months back. Haddock was just ok, batter, soggy and tasteless. Chips undercooked and tasteless too other than a weird aftertaste. We put it down as a one off and said nothing as we’re nice people. However same again to night 6:00 pm - inedible chips & soggy batter on haddock … Friday take out ruined. Something’s very wrong here. Service is great though

Really soggy and inedible batter. The fish (cod) inside was ok - the haddock, which I had ordered, was still frozen and this was around 5 o'clock on a Friday evening. The chips were also soggy and too salty without even having asked for salt. The music was too loud and the staff were more attentive to one of their families who were there. Curry sauce was nice - all two tablespoons of it. It has a very old Web page with vastly different prices. Not really acceptable dare I say! Safe to say we won't be going back nor recommending it to anyone.

Lovely man serving there today first time going in for lunch and wow was amazing fish out of this world service so lovely and friendly deffo go there again wish there was one in barry where I live 😀

Really good fish&chips, the "box" is a HUGE portion, good to share between two people. The taste was great, the fish a little bit too oily, but super fresh. The gravy sauce is amazing. Definitely recommend !

Worst chips I've had for a while. Had chips from here a couple of times but they're not the same as before. Ordered 3 bags. Not generous with portions and a lot of black bad chips.

Fabulous chippy, the chips are always fresh and piping hot and the menu is so diverse. I love their classic fish n chips but when I’m feeling ‘boujee’ the lobster in batter is incredible, highly recommend. One of the best in the city!

Can not recommend highly enough, have ordered from here since it opened. Every meal is cooked and presented to the highest of standards The fish especially is delicious, as are the fish cakes. The staff are also very welcoming and helpful. Safe to say I'll continue to return time and time again.

Great service, atmosphere and experience. I went with my family and the menu had something for all of us. Portions were big and we were all full to the brim, can’t wait to go back.

Best fish and chips in Penarth if not Cardiff by a long shot. Friendly service and couldn’t do enough for us. Keep coming back time and time again! Best in the biz.

I love going to the Penarth one & then driving down to Sully & sitting on the rocks watching the waves. The food always travels well too, tasty moist flakey fish is exactly what you want from a chippy & this delivers everytime!!

Normally food is nice here I had the boxed fish meal well could of counted the chips on one hand there was hardly any in the box yes the fish was nice but for the 11 pound not value next time will check box before leaving

Slightly more expensive than the usual fish and chip shop, slightly better quality than the usual fish and chip shop, but slightly smaller portions of chips. They also have a broader range of options, including line caught fish and battered calamari.

I ordered a piece of fish and a bread & butter roll. I always get a box however not today as they said it was for larger orders. This totally changed my experience of previous times With a drink i spent £8 and the butter is certainly NOT butter. I’m a butter snob so I know the difference.

I'm not sure how this "plaice" stays in business with soggy batter and cold chips. If you want a decent fish and chips in Penarth go a few yards away to Plassey Fish and Chips.

Portion sizes here are awful. I ordered 2 medium chips and a fish and both were tiny portions. One portion of chips had far less in than the other. Chips tasted old as if they had been sat for ages. Also the fish was tiny and broken in half, although that was fresh and tasty but the size and the fact it was broken, spoilt it. There is usually no queue here but I can understand why. I only came here as Plassey chip shop was really busy, but I think it's best to wait at Plassey chip shop as this one is a let down. Much smaller portions and lesser quality food.

Fish and chips were delicious. Light crispy batter and fresh cod. We ate our cod supper outside as we had the dog with us. The gentleman serving could not of been more accommodating, even brought us a bottle of chilled water which we didn’t request. Best fish and chips in many years. Couldn’t recommend it enough.

I was entertaining guests from. Vietnam who were visiting UK for a few weeks. I particularly wanted to visit Penarth because of the contrast between the Sea Front and the peaceful Park. I really wanted my guests to appreciate traditional Fish and Chips. So we chose the Posh Fish and Chips shop in Penarth. We were delighted by the Quality of the food here. What is more, it's served in a metal dish with generous helpings and good service. Freshly cooked Cod and Chips is my measure of success and Posh Fish and Chips met my expectations. Amazingly, value for money too. I like to surprise guests when visiting Penarth, by firstly walking through the Park and then discovering the Sea Front. So I've already decided to visit Posh on my next visit to Penarth.

Surprised to see so many bad reviews here. I eat fish and chips about once a year and was very glad I came here. I had haddock, chips and mushy peas and everything was spot on. Crisp batter, fresh fish perfectly cooked to order and the best mushy peas I’ve had from a fish and chip shop. All great value too. Have recommended to friends, looking forward to a second visit before next year!

Placed our online order, after waiting for over an hour we attempted to call the shop which had no answer. Had to call a different branch to dismissively be told that the shop now closes on a Sunday and they haven’t updated the website. When asked about money we were told that we’ll have to wait for the owner to refund us the next day, we will see if that happens

Very poor experience. No longer even provide lemon or tartar sauce with their “posh” box meals. Batter on the fish was soggy and inedible. Tried to say that they had just handed me the food therefore not their fault…umm…you cooked it not me! Won’t be going back again.

We regularly have fish n chips from here & they are fantastic.

I am so sorry, I don't like leaving negative comments but: Service was slow; Whilst fish was nice, batter was soggy as were onion rings and pineapple fritter; Soggy batter meant chips stuck to fish, chips were very unevenly sized, mainly small, meant different states of 'cooked' ie some soggy, some over crisp also portion small; Tartar sauce thin and runny; Curry sauce whilst flavoursome, also thin and runny; Pea 'puree' thin and watery Overall extremely disappointed, there are numerous better value, better quality chip shops in Penarth, I am afraid we won't be returning, sorry.

Received our order 30 minutes later than Usual. Ordered on Vale eats now. Food absolutely cold. Vales eats poor service. Posh fish and chips poor. Always quality food but gone down hill now. Never ordering again

Worst pie and chips I have ever bought. My partner loves the fish but I we mainly get soggy batter even though the fish inside is cooked perfectly. I decided to have a change as I saw a mince beef pie with crispy pastry top so ordered it tonight. They then took it off and microwaved it. Turned it upside down in my chips and it disintegrated. Never again. The good point was the mushy peas were very nice.

Yer not as the first visit sausage was umm and the chicken wasn't cooked freshly was hard .

Still trying to establish whats posh about this place. Very average food at best. Sausage like rubber Fish bites were ok apart from grease and soggy batter. Chips were not fresh. Curry sauce was like an Indian curry. Fish cake was awful. Onto the next Fish shop I think 🤔

Really disappointing! We ordered 4 meals as friends were over ( we live 5 mins from the Penarth store) to be delivered one and a half hours before the delivery time . We had to call twice due to no delivery & after an hour we went to the shop to pick up our order ! The man on the phone could hardly speak English so couldn’t understand what the problem was or offer any apology. We won’t be ordering from here again !

Normally lovely food but tonight very disappointed, chips were dry and mainly scraps , battered sausage had broken batter and all in one place dont think we will bother again !

The best fish I’ve had in a long long time. Their specials are great and reasonably priced. Staff are so nice too.

Friendly service and very good prices. I had the chicken strip tenders and a portion of chips, the chicken was very nice and spicy too. The chips wasn't the best I've had but overall very good, would go again on another visit.

If you want old cooked chips and rubbery sausage in batter then come on down folks as this is their speciality! If you want fresh cooked chips etc I suggest Plassey Fish bar a few yards up the road from this place. Didn't take long for this shop to go downhill.

Best haddock ever!Amazing batter.Best fish and chips I,ve had in years.

Whilst the battered cod was good, the fishcakes were poor. We had fishcakes when the shop first opened, they were fresh, homemade, with chunks of fish and veg in light breadcrumb. Now they are thick greasy batter, with almost a puree mash inside. Not sure what has happened. Definitely not posh and won't be ordering again.

Fish and chips were amazing! Crispy batter and fresh, soft, moist fish. Very fair price for the quality and large portion. Ate in and they even gave the little one a free fruit shoot! Keep up the good work.

I loved this fish and chip shop, but unfortunately their delivery system completely let's them down. I didn't recieve an order from 'just eat' and they said they couldn't help me. They didn't offer me a replacement meal or credit, the manager literally said "once it leaves the shop we have no guarantee you'll get it." So why would I put my money into a shop that is saying they can't guarantee delivery? The manager made no attempt to help and good food is no good if you're not going to get it and the manager won't offer condolence. to

Chips mediocre, hake not cooked through, pink bits in it, calamari didn't have the sinew removed. So not so Posh ehh.

Probably the worst chips I have ever had ,very disappointing , this was the second chance as my first experience was not great either,never again.

I was unfortunate enough to sample The lobster tail at this establishment More fool me it was absolutely disgusting and quite inedible, it was so over cooked it was like a rubber dog toy like a a rubber dog

Had the fish supper, ordered in the shop. Great portion size for the price (a lot cheaper if you order in the shop) and very good quality food too! Cant fault it!!!

Was looking forward to the meal but did unfortunately disappoint only good thing was the homemade fish cakes, the lobster tail was awful no need to be in batter and very over done, the lobster came with chips but that was not described making me order chips separately there for cleaverly making me spend more, disappointing. (Ordered with UberEats)

Finally a decent delicious fish & chips shop came to Penarth! Fast service, quality food with reasonable price for what you get. Highly recommend this place.
