Excellent food and service warm friendly place very small bar area so had to eat outside , this was not a problem as weather was warm. outside area is clean with large sport TV my only issue would be people smoking when your eating. food order was sweet chilli burger & Cajun chicken burger cost £23.70 Both meals came together and we both really enjoyed the food. girls in the bar very helpful and polite we need more bars like this one in the 3 towns

I am very disappointed writing this review as this has been a firm family favourite for many many years! Unfortunately there standards are slipping I was in yesterday for a late lunch and straight away I noticed 3 grown men individually sat at 3 different tables may I add tables of 4 with only a drink this was the full time I was there! The place was busy and god knows what would’ve happened if a family came into eat! The young girl on shift seemed extremely out her depth she was flapping around like a headless chicken most of the time maybe it was her first day I’ve no idea! I ordered from the daily special menu and was shocked to see my portion size was like a toddlers meal! Not once did it say the portion size would be drastically reduced on the menu! I’ve ordered this before this exact meal and it’s twice the size (look at my other review for reference) the wait to get out starter plates tane away was absolutely ridiculous as I said the young girl was flapping around ALOT! I didn’t enjoy my experience yesterday or my food and to see 3 grown individual men drinking at a family table of 4 in a restaurant? It definitely felt much more like a loud pub yesterday than a nice restaurant. I’m definitely not going to be in hurry unfortunately to return anytime soon.

I can’t recommend highly enough. It’s a traditional pub that serves fabulous food. Been a few times for a lunch- it looks nothing from outside, inside it’s comfortable seating, tv screens and amazing food with huge portions and reasonable prices. It’s a real hidden gem.

From the outside you would think that this is just a small old man's dive pub, and you would easily walk passed it without even giving it the time of day. Only visited after a work colleague told me that the food they sell is brilliant and would surprise me once I actually did visit. One Saturday afternoon I had been at the football and could not be bothered to go home and cook, or get a carryout somewhere, so thought I would take the chance of giving the Pop Inn a shot. As soon as you walk in, you find yourself in a nice modern bar with comfy chairs and tables, good music and really friendly staff. Even the menu, you would think it would just be simple pup classics, but its really packed with great choices and at knock down prices. Ordered the Pop Inn Burger and a pint of Tennants, and was freshly prepared in no time and very tasty. Staff really go the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. Will be back along again in future for sure!

Fantastic place been coming here now for many years and tried just about everything on the menu the food is freshly made and absolutely delicious every time! They also cater for kids as well! Only downside is it’s small and can sometimes not get a table which can be disappointing in the summer they have a large beer garden patio out the back which is beautiful as well! It’s also decently priced for food. I’d personally not take kids in on a Friday or Saturday teatime as it’s normally extremely busy and very loud but during the week or lunchtimes it’s fantastic and worth a visit.

You'd walk past this little pub/restaurant. We were so glad we decided to "pop inn". We were greeted by a friendly waitress and had the choice of a few tables. She (Avril?) explained the daily specials. Handed out menu's and took out drinks order. Oh boy can that lady multi task. Baked potato with chicken mayo. Blackened chicken, chips and curry sauce Chicken in creamy garlic sauce with rice and chips (small portion, but it was huge) Home made cheesecake with cream and icecream, sticky toffee pudding with custard, warmed millionaire shortbread with ice cream. Big portions, the baked potato was actually 2 potatoes. The small portion of the chicken in garlic sauce was generous. I'm glad I chose that as I'd have struggled with the normal portion. The toilets were spotless, a friendly atmosphere in the pub. Quick service, piping hot food with generous portions. Prices are very good too. We will be back soon to try something else from the menu xx

Very disappointed used to go weekly as the food and staff were great and reasonably priced. But hadn't been for a while for personal reasons so was looking forward to our wee visit new staff and not as nice (not rude just a bit abrupt but could be having a bad day) got the special which was the steak and all the trimmings. It was over done and came with frozen mixed veg, oinion rings were under cooked pale and stoggie, no sauce or gravy and the prices have jumped up found out why they no longer put the price on the specials board it is a busy week pub as it is next to a betting shop

Visiting from the US, We took the train from Paisley to Stevenston in order for my mom to visit her hometown and to walk by her childhood home and her grandmothers home. We had researched where to eat on trip advisor prior to arriving, so we were looking forward to trying The Pop Inn. We were delighted by the many authentic Scottish dishes on the menu and we couldn’t be happier with our choices! We started with a melted cheese filled peach appetizer, you must try! Mom had the steak pie and I had the Mince and Tatties, both were fabulous and exactly as we had hoped for, just like my grandma would have made. My mom couldn’t decide which style of potatoes to get and the friendly waitress brought her all three with the steak pie. They were so friendly and kind. We wanted to try the millionaires shortbread sundae but we were just too full. We want to go back as the menu had so many offerings we would love to try! We can’t say enough about this place, so do go Pop Inn!!

We were in Stevenston and decided to try the Pop Inn for lunch. It's not a big place, but the staff made us welcome. The choice on the menu was excellent compared to other places we have eaten. I had the chicken stroganoff crepe and it was tasty and packed with chicken. And it was real chicken, not the processed cubes so many places use. My husband had the beef enchilada which was also full of meat.

I visited here a few weeks ago for a Sunday lunch with my sister. It's a favourite for us both as the food is exceptional & the girls could not be nicer. However on this day there was a football match on the TV so there were quite a few people at the bar for that. Naturally it was quite noisy (to be expected in a bar) but due to the size of this pub & the proximity of the bar to the tables, it affected our experience as it was difficult to have a conversation over lunch. Needless to say we didn't stay for pudding as it wasn't the most pleasant environment with some guys getting g a bit rowdy at times.I will return due to the great food & staff but I will be checking sports fixtures beforehand in future. Went to try this place as it seemed to have a lot of good reviews about it have not been into the Pop in years, it's very dark inside with wobbly tables with beer matt's wedged underneath to steady them also had to keep changing seats, it can also get a little noisy when there is a lot of people in, once I got my meal the Haddock was dried out no moisture whatsoever the chips tasted like cardboard also a bit raw got a replacement meal instead which was the Seabass it was full of bones also the skin was still underneath and slimy, it was loaded with a Tomato Salsa on top with salad which was one huge mess, I won't be back the meal was terrible it seems it doesn't live up to the hype many say.

I have been told many times by my mother what a cracking wee pub this is and the food is excellent. She meets with her old school chums (who are ladies who lunch A LOT!) So we went on my birthday. To most locals the Pop Inn was just a dingy, rough wee old pub, but not any more. Nicely decorated and extended, the staff were extremely friendly and efficient and the food was big on flavour, large in portion size and not expensive. Great selection of classics. My steak fajitas were amazing, my dad had the breakfast (I'll have that next time!) and my mum's chicken stroganoff was delicious. We went out to the beer garden and what a lleasant surprise! Lovely sunny space with different seating areas. A hidden gem where you would least expect to find it.PS. I'd advise you to reserve a table as there is limited seating and they sensibly have a 15 minute reserve limit so if you show up late, too bad. If you're not fast, you're last.

My wife and I, along with my dad and step-mum went for lunch today at The Pop Inn, Stevenson. The Pop Inn was once described an "old mans boozer" which would be frequented by hardened drinkers. Now, The Pop Inn is a nice lively pub which also does breakfasts, lunches, dinners and coffee throughout the day. We arrived just after 12:30, time for lunch. We were shown to our table and drinks order was taken, two pints of diet coke, a pint of beer and a glass of wine. A few minutes later the drinks arrived and we were given the food menu. The menu was full of fantastic sounding meals. For the starter, there were numerous items from soup of the day to melon salad. Mains consisted of fish and chips, steak pie, all day breakfast, chicken tempura and arrabbiata pasta for mains, amongst others. Desserts were sundaes, apple crumble, cheesecake to name a few. There were teas and coffees at the end, if you wanted them.We ordered two steak pies, chicken tempura and chicken arrabbiata. The meals arrived within 20 minutes. The portion size was fantastic on all the meals we ordered. Th steak pies were covered in thick gravy, the arrabbiata was juicy and spicy. The chicken tempura was chirp and not oily.Desserts were two apple crumbles, chocolate cheesecake and and a raspberry sundae. We ate our meals, enjoying every mouthful. The waitresses were good, they interacted with us, and other patrons. At the end of the meal we had tea and coffees. An excellent lunch, well priced and in a good location. Definitely one to return to.

We have been enjoying bar lunches here once a week for about 2 years. It is quite a small bar but don't let that or the basic exterior fool you, the food here is seriously good. The menu is quite extensive with most popular favourites included- steaks, steak pie, fish fajitas etc along with one of our favourites, chicken dahl. The chef is most accommodating and often tweets the dish to your requirements. He seems to come up with a different daily special every time we visit. The meal deal of soup and selected main is great value at £7.50 but all dishes represent good value. Well worth a visit, this wee bar diner puts many fancier establishments to shame with the quality and consistency of its food.

Finally got round to getting down here for a feed after hearing plenty of good things about it! Wasn't dissapointed! Salt n chilli ribs were smashing, enchiladas scrumptious, my girlfriends chilli was yummy! I can't comment on the garlic shrooms because I don't like em but Hayley said they were brilliant! Can't wait to get a free afternoon to get back to try the 'the hot one' burger!

You have to look carefully for this place, or else you could easily walk past. Went there for a sundaybreakfast treat this morning and saw that the pub had been renovated since the last time I had visited. Children are welcome here (which isn't always the case in some UK pubs) and the staff are friendly. We ordered breakfast and drinks and the food was lovely and the prices very reasonable. Brilliant little pub which retains the atmosphere of being a traditional Scottish inn rather than trying to be a wine bar. I will be back soon and recommend it to other locals and travellers.

you could easily walk by this unassuming bar-restaurant, but it is definitely worth a visit. Good restaurant quality food, friendly service and great value for money.

we took mum for mothers day lunch, I visited the pop inn many years ago, and it was nothing to talk about , how things have changed. This is surely the most be the best hidden wee gem in Ayrshire.Food, Service, AMBIANCE, Cannot be surpassed. Over the years I have taken my mother to many venues in and around Ayrshire and this surpasses all. Good luck to you all though I don,t think you need it as I think you have got it SPOT ON. We shall be back to enjoy your lovely beer garden, and if the the weather is bad we will enjoy the company inside.

The food was cheap and was of restaurant quality not like your usual pub grub, a fast and efficient service with very friendly staff. Will return again and again.

I was pleasantly surprised, place is spotless, service excellent and food is possibly the best in the three towns, it's not much to look at from the outside but it's well worth venturing inside.

This popular restuarant/wedding venue has suddenly closed down without notice leaving many young couples and others searching for new venues at very short notice.
