The hotel has been refurbished and renamed. Went along for a family birthday dinner - the hotel and restaurant look fantastic! However, the food was poor, particularly the steak pie which was inedible. Several of us had this and no-one questioned why it wasn’t eaten. Other meals were cold, but chips were hot so it looks like the meals were left cooling whilst they waited on chips cooking. My hot chocolate was cold and it was returned. Staff just weren’t professional. It’s a shame because I wanted to like it as so much money has been spent on the great refurb and it would have been a handy place to eat but I’ll pass.

Oh dear, what happened to the Glenifer this year for Christmas dinner? We were looking forward to it for weeks, especially as there were relatives joining us from out of the country. First family Christmas for years! We were bitterly disappointed! From the moment we walked in and stood waiting for someone to welcome us and show us where to go…we wandered around in an empty building until someone eventually found a staff person texting on his phone. The food was disgusting, seriously bad! The turkey was processed as was the stuffing (a square slice of rubber on top of the processed turkey roll or whatever it was). The brussels were tiny and black?? The roast potatoes would have choked a camel, they were dry, almost powder like inside, I’m guessing they were frozen at some point then reheated probably more than once and almost to gravy or to be more accurate, gravy substitute. This sounds like a very sarcastic review but sadly I am not exaggerating. This was a clear embarrassment for the Glenifer, a place I have praised in the past for good food and good service. There was no cranberry sauce and no tea or coffee was offered, in fact, there were no staff around to ask after the dessert was served. The dessert was passable but I wouldn’t go so far as to say it was good! The staff tried their best but I think even they were embarrassed to serve this food to paying customers…..and it wasn’t cheap! Shocking I have to write this, but I was ticked off that someone in the kitchen thought this was a fitting meal to serve on Christmas Day in an obvious attempt to make as much money as possible on the backs of the people who have supported this establishment for several years…. new management perhaps??

Have visited before and had an enjoyable afternoon tea for two here in the beautiful space. There was plenty of tea on request from the pleasant and attentive staff team. The atmosphere on the whole was relaxed and unhurried. The three tiered cake stand contained an assortment of sandwiches, cakes and scones with cream and jam. There were so many cakes that our waitress boxed them up so my friend could take them home. The only fly in the ointment in the visit was that the fillings in the sandwiches were severely lacking, with half of each small triangle sandwich having nothing on it at all. A little more care in making up the sandwiches and this would have been a 10 out of 10 visit, instead of a 7 out of 10.

My friends and I visited the lane on Saturday night. Once approached by a goth/farmer like barman to see IDs. All of us, 20 years of age were refused service however the barman proceeded to tell us that he believed one of our IDS were real and therefore the one friend could buy us drinks (more illegal than serving us). As the night went on we met many other women who had been told the same also all of age and very unhappy with the experience as we felt very judged. Barman also seemed very sexist as he wasn’t even asking for males ID and only refusing women.

Beware the scam. Fuelled up, parked the car, went in to grab Subway. Staff were nice but slow, took 15mins to get our meals. We then sat and ate in the provided seating. Slogged with a parking ticket, apparently there's a 15 minute parking time limit. Most expensive Subway meal in the UK.
