Absolutely amazing ice cream! My wife had Fudge and Salted Caramel, and I had Turkish Delight. If you are looking for really creamy and tasty ice cream, I highly recommend The Pokey Hat. Will definitely be going back.

It is some of the best homemade ice cream I have every had. Even though the temperature was in the single digits, it was so worth it. Had the choc-mint, but wish I could have tried a bunch of other flavours as well.

Great ice cream but list of available flavours outside not true which was slightly disappointing as between the 2 of us having 2 scoops each they didn't have 2 of the flavours. My advice is don't bother with the board outside just go in and see what they've got. Chap serving ice cream very friendly but the female could do with being a bit more engaging with customers and not distracted by other things.............

After visiting Oban many times over the years but never trying this place, we were staying for a few days and thought we’d try this on our first day. Needless to say, we were back every day, the best ice cream! My favourite the Kit Kat and my husbands was the biscoff. The perfect consistency with the perfect about of Kit Kat and biscoff pieces too! Portions aren’t stingy for the price either! Will be back each trip back to Oban now!

A must if you are in Oban! Delicious ice cream made on premises and the homemade cone is such a treat. Light and crispy. Definitely worth a visit.

The ice cream is just consistently phenomenal year in, year out. The Turkish delight in particular is 10/10. Thank you for the memories over the years with my family enjoying this wonderful ice cream in the sunshine! ☺️☺️ I definitely don’t want to spin a negative because you’re absolutely smashing it as a business and this is just my own personal niggles… but I noticed last year and now this year that the bunting in the shop is old and could do with replacing. When you’re standing in the queue for a while, you notice it. The figures outside and in the window are a bit weather-beaten and maybe need a revamp and possibly the shelves could do with a clear out. Again… only noticed these things because I was waiting in the queue for a wee while.

This wee shop serves the most delicious ice cream which is made daily on the premises. The wafer cones are just as delicious and also made on the premises. Both such a treat ! Luckily a lovely sunny afternoon so able to sit outside and enjoy.

Had between us 8 different flavours - highly recommend biscoff (outstanding), toffee fudge, coffee and Turkish delight but all of it was great! We went back again.

Stopped whilst on holiday in Oban. The ice cream and service were both excellent. The only reason for losing a star is that on our return visit a couple of days later we found the shop shut up in the middle of a very sunny day. The lights were on, but the door was closed. I heard someone say they were getting a delivery, so I decided to wait. In the 30mins or so I waited, I witnessed so many people came past looking to get an ice cream and they were either turned away or left confused as to why it was shut. Seems madness them losing out on so much business due to a delivery but if this happens often then maybe a sign on the door explaining with a time to return would really help staff and potential customers.

Glorious little ice cream shop just off the Main Street in Oban. Treated the wee lad to a scoop or two. Lovely home made ice cream, packed full of flavour. Eagerly devoured while over looking the harbour. Will be back to try the other flavours soon.

A fab little shop just off the main street near the tourist information centre. Not hundreds of flavours but a good selection, absolutely delicious and super good value too. Recommended.

A nice selection of flavours and a choice of cone or tub. Generous scopes and sitting in the Spring sunshine with a lovely view of the harbour was a bonus.

My husband LOVES ice cream so as we toured Scotland he tried ice cream wherever we went. This was by far his favorite!! The quality of the ice cream coupled with the price made it a win-win.

Fantastic ice cream, the flavours and texture were amazing. Sadly I didn’t get to try one of the flavours I’d ordered (my favourite, coffee ice cream) as although I was charged for three flavours I found I’d only been served two as I ate the ice cream walking along and found the third flavour I thought was in the cone unfortunately was missing. Couldn’t very well walk back as how was I going to prove I hadn’t scoffed it! Such lovely icecream, just a shame to be charged for something which wasn’t served

I love ice cream so really liked the choice and flavours. I'll make sure I visit again the next time I'm in Oban

Heard this place was great for ice cream, and it is! Lovely flavours, favourite was salted caramel, yummy!!

Whilst up on a short break we indulged in this icecream shops fayre. On the 26th/27th/29th april we indulged in a two scoop tub of icecream with a difficult choice from an impressive range of flavours. We mixed them up each day to get the full potential of the flavours. Would recommend to anyone and when next up would indulge again.

I came into this lovely shop today for a couple of Ice Creams! The two young ladies behind the counter were very pleasant and smiley! Ice cream was absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend. Perfectly located too… also appreciate that they have dog bowls outside with water ❤️

Delicious flavours and great portion size. £2.50 for one scoop in a waffle cone. There was no seating inside (perhaps due to restrictions?) but plenty outside.

On a warm day, ice cream bu the water is a must! Here you’ll get some good ice cream to make the most of it. The flavours available were good, although a little run-of-mill for my liking. However, the white chocolate is pretty spectacular!

I've been visiting Oban for many years with my husband. We always visit the Pokey Hat for at least one ice cream even if the weather isn't too good. The ice cream is top class and the service excellent. We were particularly impressed with the chocolate chip ice cream this time. We visited 3 times during the week and had double scoops. The portions are generous and prices comparable with other good ice cream vendors.

Greeted by a scowl upon entering the shop by a woman saying shes busy serving. I came in to buy 9 ice creams for our families and to also ask for water for the dog bowl outside which was dry. Made to feel most unwelcome so I voted with my feet and found a friendly lovely ice cream place nearby. Whilst eating our ices in seating area outside The Pokey Hat (which had to close as run out of ice cream) we witnessed a man who clearly needed a degree of support asking the female owner if any ice cream was left. Absolutely no compassion or kindness shown, she shooed the man away repeatedly with her hand as she stood in the doorway to stop any more customers entering. Deeply saddened at this behaviour towards another person.Shame on you for your lack of empathy and respect. If only your demeanor was as sweet as your product!

It was a warm day so we had an ice cream which was lovely, there was a good selection of ice creams to choose from and cornets. I had the strawberry and it was very nice.

Flavors change all the time depending upon inspiration in this long standing homemade gelateria. Creamy and delicious. We had chocolate, coffee and toffees. All lovely. Hit a quiet time due to sprinkling rain.

Poor,came in and was told the tables are all reserved,I asked about a small table in the corner and ok-it was free so I sat down-waited for a while but wasnt offered a menu so left

The Ferrero Rocher ice cream is on another level. The ice cream is so smooth and flavoursome, definitely check this place out!

I have been coming to the pokey hat for years now and thought it was time to leave a review. It’s fantastic. Never had a bad experience. Tried almost all the flavours and love them all. Condensed milk is my favourite by far. Have always had amazing service from the boys. Always a smile and always enthusiastic. A delight to visit. X

This little ice cream shop is situated on the front Street of Oban, despite its great location, the shop itself is in poor repair and not pretty to look at. The inside of the shop is very cramped often full of people queuing with no air conditioning. The shop doesn’t accept card payments, and the ice cream is terrible quality and very artificial. The staff were polite but unprofessional.

Took the grandkids and nieces out for some ice cream with the family for some lunch and stopped by the pokey had afterwards for a treat. Unfortunately, the ice cream was really not to par, I know ice cream melts but this was so runny that one may require a straw to eat it! The taste wasn’t great either, we had strawberry but it was very bland.I found the staff less than helpful, they also took joy in discussing customers and another member of staff in a very distasteful manner. Rather unprofessional.

Best homemade Ice cream ever with a range of flavours that makes you see Ice cream as every weather food with big portions which are about half scoop bigger than a normal ice cream.

Super ice-cream and lovely staff.Visited nearly every day of our holiday and took Grandma and Grandad in as well. Nearly all cried when it was shut whilst ice-cream was being made one day but that goes to show it's all handmade. Tried lots of flavours-all good-although favourites were salted caramel, toffee, white chocolate and strawberry.

Voor 3,90 heb je twee bollen ijs. Het zijn echter flinke bollen (in Nederland zouden dit er wellicht 4 zijn), dus de prijs is prima. Het kokosijs was erg lekker en ook het gezouten karamelijs smaakte goed. Vanille met chocola en een wit soort ijs met rode vruchten vonden we dan wat minder lekker. Vandaar een gemiddelde score.

Advertised as Italian home made ice cream however I have had Italian Gelato many times. The pistachio ice cream had no flavour whatsoever although the Salted Caramel was really good. When the shop is so hot inside I don’t know how they keep the ice cream cold.

I’m not a huge fan of ice cream but we popped in here to cool down and it was a busy wee place which is always a good sign. I had raspberry ripple and it was so good that i went back for more

The ice cream here is super. I mean really good. If you get a cone, eat fast. Everyone I saw with a cone was dripping. I got a cup of coffee ice cream and it was sjperb.

The choices and tastes of Pokey Hat ice cream shop at the Bay of Oban are extremely good. They are busy but service is efficient with not long to wait.-- I am an icecreamoholic so I am an expert in ice creams and this shop is superb. Don't miss it.

Cows outside this little shop in the square overlooking the ferries coming and going. Many different flavours and always got a steady stream of people in and out. Shop could look a bit tidier but when all you need is the ice-cream it doesn't really matter. Very tasty, big scoops and we will be back for more.

Bought Ice Cream. Just watch your change. Was informed at the chip shop round the corner they had given me an old style Scottish £10 note and that they would not be able to accept it.

If you like a really good ice cream in a tasty crispy cone this is the place to go. Chocolate and Turkish delight were our choices and we were not disappointed by the ice cream . The slightly grumpy sales assistant and cash only were a slight irritant.

Hermosa visita a esta tienda. La gran selección de sabores y el proceso de pedido fue simple y eficiente, y sentimos que todas las opciones tenían un precio muy razonable. Somos una familia de siete y todos los niños tienen que ordenar sus propios conos y tinas, lo cual apreciamos (enseñando a los niños a través de la experiencia y todo eso). Definitivamente vamos a estar de vuelta.

Had 3 ice creams for the fAmily. PistAchio tasted like marzipan and was disgusting threw it in bin. The mint chocolate chip tasted like really bad toothpaste and the Turkish delight was tasteless and had huge chunks of Turkish delight cut into it

I wouldn't normally submit a review with a title like this but really! Some people must have slipped Nurse Ratchet for the day and I am not trying to insult people with genuine mental issues. This is a fine and well established ice cream shop that does exactly what it says on the tin - it sells ice cream. There is a good selection and the price is perfectly acceptable.However, there were people who obviously think the world is subject to their personal will and choices. One guy was complaining about everything from the weather, lack of choice and he was going to ask to taste everything before buying a single cone. I felt sorry for his wife but she seemed to calm him before he spoke to a human being. So, if you are in Oban and fancy an ice cream, the Pokey Hat sells it.

The place was clean and the ice cream was delicious. The workers were young and seemed a bit uninterested but nothing worth avoiding the spot for. Great location. I had the Coffee and Salted Caramel flavors. Delicious!

The pokey hat is the perfect quick stop.Its amazing choice of flavours and friendly staff make this shop a must visit. The honeycomb crunch was really good and a perfect portion amount. We sadly can’t come back soon but will return in the future!

It’s hard to miss this building when in Oban! The pink exterior really stands out! Great choice of flavours, some traditional but lots of new and interesting varieties to try. Really enjoyed the creme brûlée flavour.

Well i certainly could have gone for two scoops but given the portion size and the heat it would have melted before I'd have eaten it! Great selection of flavours and types of cones, including just in a tub. Salted caramel was yummy.

Really good ice cream with a great selection. Really generous amounts given went for 3 scoop cone and was almost falling over not that I would complainabout that.

My husband and I visited the pockey hat on a recent trip to Oban and we weren't disappointed, the superb handmade ice cream in so many different flavours is the perfect treat for adults and kids alike, I can highly recommend the Turkish delight flavour looking forward to my next visit

You only need 1 scoop- they give you at least 2 and the portions are enormous!! Absolutely delicious kids loved Oreo, I loved Coffee, friend loved Salted Caramel- I would live here if I could. Waffle cones at no extra and wonderful wonderful icecream!! £2.20 for 1 scoop (actually 2 scoops).

Good Ice Cream but the “Sorry we do not give samples” sign is a real turn-off. I’ve been in ice-cream stores all over the world and this is the first place I’ve ever experienced that does this. It left a bad taste in our mouths.
