We had a very nice experience at the Plough! Food was excellent quick and amazing service ! Nice big car park !! Wish it was my local !!

A lovely little pub in a quiet and sedate village.. ample parking and dog friendly with an under cover and open air outside seating areas. Came here today... owners Dan and Jaz have just just celebrated 2 years at the helm of this smashing country pub. These guys were great hosts the place was lovely and clean and as usual I went through to the heart of the building and high standards run throughout... I'm really impressed with this pub /eatery it seems a real hub for the locals and visitors alike.. Thank you for looking after me guys

Really happy family of four - (two young kids). We visited on our way back from camping at Mendip Activity Centre and we were so pleased with our choice. A really lovely welcome and amazing food. Such a good variety of food, and reasonable prices. A great kids menu and lots of deals to take advantage of. We will definitely be back!

Used to live locally but moved to the other side of the world & were back visiting the area, decided to pop in to an old favourite (although appears to be new management/owners since we were last there). Visited for a mid week lunch, was reasonably busy & were told on arrival there would be a delay on ordering food, we were in no rush & happy to wait & in the end it didn't really take that long. It was good to see management looking after their staff workload & not just taking as many orders as possible & expecting them to cope. Also managing customer expectations & then exceeding them. Food was great too!

Really enjoyed the meal, if a little on the pricey side at £15, however it was delicious and the service was very good so happy to pay it.

We (4 adults) visited on our way to Bristol Airport (only 10 minutes away). We opted for the tasty light lunchtime offer, beer battered fish & crispy chips with a small portion of minted mushy peas & tartare. Good choice of drinks included. Dog friendly and warm welcome from hosts

Updated after second visit 7th May 2024 review - 5/5 stars So good, we had to return. Service and food were absolutely excellent (and I have now noticed some vegan and vegetarian items on the menu, so I'll be bringing some veggie friends too...). And... fabulous to discover, no more sporty cars (without blue badges) hogging the disabled spaces. Thanks for making my mother's (belated) birthday supper very good. Shout to Dan W and his colleagues! 16th April 2024 review - 4/5 stars Great service, great food, reasonable prices... My only complaint is about the disabled parking spaces - only 3 spaces near the entrance, all used, 2 of them by sporty cars without blue badges... Dear Plough Management, some of us really can't walk from the back of the car park, so please manage this issue.

Shocked at size of lunch time meal. And thought the drinks were part of the £10.00 But got charged 37.40 for three meals. Afraid not going to go there for a while.

“One rule for us, another for them” The above is how I would describe the management of this establishment. On our first visit, getting food here - just as simple as chips, Was no issue if sat outside or in the bar area, until one day this changed. Today I was sat outside and saw someone eating a portion of chips, tried to order at the bar but said “after 8:30 you may” I’m not sure what the management has against myself and my partner but why allow others to order food and other not? What the management has against my partner and I is beyond me. But either let people order food or not. It is rare I felt welcome here, after giving this place multiple chances - because it is a wonderful pub with palatable food, and a decent selection of drinks the management lets it down. My partner bought her parents all the way from wales here on multiple occasions and we have had to go elsewhere or forego food entirely - which is not only embarrassing for us but should be embarrassing for this establishment. Develop some consistency, please.

First visit on a Tuesday night and an enjoyable experience. So refreshing to find a menu that gives you a reason to return another time cooked so well unlike the usual pub offerings you often are presented with. Polite efficient and well trained staff who make the visit, and a warm pleasant environment. Highly recommend.

Attractive pub in a pretty village. We visited for lunch on a weekday and at the weekend. Food very good both times. Weekday was good value (£10 for food+drink, although portions were modest). Regular menu is mid-price but decent portions, well-presented. Staff all fine: one seems a bit blunt but it's actually quite refreshing in a way!

Visited for Sunday lunch and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The choices on the menu were great, catered for a variety of requirements and had their own stamp on them. The food was cooked to perfection and the option to add extras from the sides menu prevented waste but allowed for the larger appetite. The desserts were delicious. Looking forward to going back to try other things on the menu!! Staff were all welcoming, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend!

Food was delicious and staff really lovely. We had a great Sunday lunch. Good selection of roasts and other dishes. The burger was also great. Will definitely go back.

Lovely local pub, good atmosphere, friendly landlords and am only unable to rate higher due to not yet trying the food they have on offer.

We were a large party who had pre-ordered and I was amazed at how all our courses came out all together, there was no waiting for others to get their food and it was all piping hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was bloody delicious and the the atmosphere was fab. I highly recommend a visit. X

Barmaid was a little curt. I did not eat so can't give an opinion on the food. Atmosphere was fab as it was the carol evening.

Went here for a family party. There were 19 of us and we certainly were not let down. The food was excellent. Staff were super friendly - nothing was too much trouble. They even accommodated our over exuberant 8 month old pup ❤️ Would definitely recommend

Fairly nice place, but it's very 'gastro-pub' with not much authentic atmosphere. Nice staff, food looked good though, and had some nice beer on - but the stale-ness of the place isn't really what I'm looking for in a country pub visit.

From the start of our meal to the end it’s fair to say we have all enjoyed a Fabulous Sunday Roast. Plenty of delicious food, we all had a mixture of starters or nibbles and everything was very flavoursome and fresh, the roast beef that the majority of us had was so good and at least two or three good slices of pink tasty beef, one of the party had the Pork Belly and actually thought the portion was for two 🤣 and we had one veggie option which was a filo pastry parcel full of lentils and roast squash well seasoned and delicious, all accompanied with fresh vegetables and fluffy roasters and a huge Yorkshire pud and plenty of good gravy. All in all a really lovely meal with fantastic service in a relaxed and airy pub with plenty of room so you didn’t feel crowded by others

We arrived for late lunch but they were about to stop serving. However they did accommodate us and the service, food and landlord / landlady were friendly and great. This is what pubs are all about. We'll be back!

Food great, service left a lot to be desired. Unimpressed by the automatic adding of a service charge! Warning, a glass of house wine is almost the cost of a main.

Lunch with wife and dearest of family and decided on the Plough after seeing the reviews. On arrival we thought how good is this place as the restaurant and bar were empty at 13:00. One other table was filled and we ordered after being told the substantial list of foods that were not available. Maybe it was the piece of wood our meals were served on but how small can a main meal be and be classed as main? As mains were so small we ordered sweets to find even more not available so reordered. On delivery two sweets very disappointing, Sundaes arrived with glass half full but with added waffles in top of glass (what is this all about not on menu). Lovely young lady took them back removed the offending waffles and added a little more ice-cream as requested. Overall experience disappointing, food disappointing and over priced, service satisfactory but the £9 service charge added to the bill unwanted. Now I understand why only two tables were taken between 13:00 and 14:00 on a Tuesday. Having used the Plough a number of times with a number of owners in a number of forms since Mr Bugler owned it in the 1970s I have never been so disappointed.

We had a large family meal at The Plough, none of us had visited previously but we’ll definitely return. Food and service were both particularly good, the decor is great and staff were very friendly and attentive without being over the top.

We had a lovely lunch at The Plough Inn on Saturday. Myself, two friends & two Labradors were made very welcome. The food was tasty & not over-priced. The staff were friendly & attentive. Overall a lovely choice for our lunch stop on our weekend dog-walk.

Brought my Mum here for her Birthday. Overall, it was very pleasant but far from perfect. Asked for a quite table and we're given a seat next to the kitchen which gave us a mixture of background noises, with the music from the kitchen mixing with the background music of the pub, which was less than ideal. Plus, this area obviously had a lot of foot traffic, which would have been fair enough if the doors were given a drop of oil or two. The food was very pleasant, but the price tag on what was essentially slightly up-market pub grub left a lot to the imagination. I'm slightly disappointed but worth another shot.

This is a very good village pub with friendly staff and good food. The menu has some traditional pub grub but also a few imaginative alternatives. (Try the Moroccan lamb)

Hadn't booked but fancied eating after a long, at times wet, walk so we were a little muddy but received a very warm welcome. I think because it was a Sunday the menu options for vegetarians was limited as it based on different kinds of roasts. That said the food was excellent. We all had the butternut in filo pastry accompanied by plenty of fresh vegetables. Can't fault it. Two of our party had small deserts with a coffee, so to give you an idea of 'small' one consisted of 3 profiteroles (a full size portion being 6), and the small Eaton Mess was an overflowing jam jar size which was plenty for that diner! Overall great service, great food and good value for money.

Great food, tasty, ok service - however a warm welcome. However burger was burnt on the outside and trout gnocchi needed a bit more salt. Huge potential for this pub with some minor corrections. Service charge automatically added on is an immediate aggravation for any establishment we visit.

My wife and I had a lovely meal last night, both the Steak Pie and double Burger cooked perfectly.The staff and service was ,as ever first class.We will be back soon. Well done Jaz and Dan

Lovely pub with really nice staff. Good parking on site and inside warm and cosy. Table and seating were a little dirty and should of been cleaned correctly. Toilets not that clean either with no toilet rolls. Food was average and way over priced. Drink not that great either. A nice pub trying to be Gourmet and something more than it is, which is a shame.

Went here with hubby for Sunday lunch, for the first time. We both agreed it was the best we had eaten for a very long time. Staff were super friendly and helpful. Can't wait to go back.

We had a delicious roast dinner with all the trimmings the beef was tender and the chicken was flavoursome and moist the deserts are also a must I can highly recommend the Black Forest Pavlova. The landlord Dan and landlady Jaz are incredibly friendly and nothing was too much trouble so a massive Thank you for a fantastic meal. We will be visiting again very soon as there are a few things we would like to try on the menu.

6 of us had a delicious meal last night. Good menu reasonably priced, well cooked and presented. Very helpful and friendly staff - it’s a real pleasure to be able to visit our local again and feel that everyone really wants it to succeed. Went there for Sunday lunch recently. No issue with the service, decor is fine although they could easily lose a few pictures and all of the horse brasses. Unfortunately the food was very poor and whist I would be happy to return for a drink I will not go there to eat again. At £18.50 for the roast beef, the quality should have been so much better. Both the Yorkshire and the roast potatoes would seem to have been reheated from frozen, both were very poor. The beef was overcooked and dry. For this price there are many other places that offer better quality food.

Very comfortable, nice staff. Very tasty dishes including interesting veggie- options and incredible desserts. Try the sticky toffee pudding! Have to add an update a few years later (post pandemic..) as I had very fond memories of the plough i wanted to return this summer. We tried to place a reservation but never got through via phone and online booking was not available. We tried as walk-ins but were rejected rather briskly by the clearly quite overwhelmed staff. No effort of any kind was made to maybe find a Solution. Hopefully the new team will outgrow those initial difficulties

Beautiful venue, lovely staff, and friendly customers. If you're looking for a place to eat in a countryside-esque area then I strongly recommend taking the trip out there; the scenery is peaceful, the garden area is perfect for the summer, and the pub itself fits in so well for the area. 10/10 highly recommend the experience.

A few weeks in with the new managers Jaz & Dan - great to see the pub open and thriving, happy helpful staff, food menu is simple, but delicious - I'd rather that than a huge choice that is straight from the freezer - Thank you for a lovely evening.

A little disappointed, having been very pleased before The Plough changed hands. The menu available was not as comprehensive as that shown on line, and visible in some other review posts. The baked Camembert was delicious but should have suggested as ‘to share’. We were not told about the main ‘special’ and the young staff were just not with it: drinks came one at a time and we had to ask a second time to receive cutlery for the main course; there was just no enthusiasm from them and no obvious supervision of what they were doing. Having been unimpressed with the service, it was a little annoying to see, after making payment, that a service charge had automatically been added. A nice location and garden, and improved decor, but I shall not rush back I’m afraid.

Normal pub food, nothing special. Chicken and ham pie, had very little or non ham and fish linguini was ok, but prawns were hard.

What a downhill slide on this one. Used to be the best place around...today really fatty meat, returned meal three times as not warm at all. They told us it was all precooked and all they had to do was warm it up. At £18 each for roast beef, it was a total rip off. The 2 front of house staff did their best but their hands were tied

We’ve had some amazing meals here pre covid but unfortunately the food was average. We had an attentive waitress however the rest of the staff were not so great. Hope things improve.
