Staff very friendly, dog friendly lovely pub👍

I was visiting the area and popped in for a quiet pint on a Sunny afternoon Quaint little pub with good decor, ordered and service was friendly. No evil looks from the 3 gents who seem to prop up the bar every day haha ! Sat and relaxed in the pretty pub garden, thanks !

Popped in for a drink when passing through Henfield. The pub is situated in the middle of the High Street and has the authentic appeal of an Old English country pub. Good selection of ale and lager available and the menu looked very appetising, although we were a little to late to get anything to eat. Definitely a place that makes you think of going back to again.

Lovely staff, very polite and friendly Great food, the food was super tasty and I found zero issues with any of it. It also has an amazing atmosphere. I really like how it’s decorated inside, It’s a good mix of old and new. Very warm atmosphere to relax in. Had a lovely Sunday roast in here with my wife and daughter. We both had the beef which was delicious and the yorkies were homemade and fluffy and crispy at the same time. My daughter had the pasta with tomato which she enjoyed and there plenty of it too. Cheers 👍🏻

I haven't been for a while but this a proper old English pub there few and far between now days it's not all about the food but it is good. The atmosphere is fantastic as is the service.

Came for a roast on Sunday. Booked on telephone explaining to please save me the vegetarian option. My name was on the table someone took my call. Arrived only to find out my request hadn’t been noted. I have already experienced this many months before. The manager said no one took my call I showed my telephone call log and my name was on the table.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In between showers noon today the sun beamed down on Henfield Hight Street 18°C to let me lunch at a table right on our High Street. In no time a feast of olives mussels French fries a nice Pinot and a Tiramisu dessert appeared before me. A brill mid-October lunch. Kitchen Teams, particularly, work flat-out in small-to-medium establishments, so thanks to the Kitchen Team for crafting such a brill lunch. Thanks to the Floor and Bar Team who served lunch with a friendly welcome and skill. A happy memory..in Henfield West Sussex.

We didn't eat there, but used the bar all three nights we stayed in Henfield .

Wonderful atmosphere, great bar staff very polite and helpful. Kayla especially was a credit to the pub.

A very pleasant evening spent at the Plough .. there was a good range of food from burgers to quail's breast ... the service was great we had the lovely Julie serving us who was more than happy to take pictures of us enjoying ourselves... it was quite busy inside but didn't feel packed there's seating outside in the well maintained garden and it was pretty full out there to... all in all a good place to spend time celebrating with friends and family ... they do have a menu available to view on-line under The Plough Henfield

The food and wine were all lovely, but the service was very, very slow. Arrived at the Plough at 6:00pm, ordered our drinks and main courses and finally got the mains at around 7;30pm. Ordered one desert at 8:00pm and it arrived at 8;45pm! It wasn't even busy! Will probably not return.

My partner and I have recently moved to Henfield and found this gem of a pub hidden away in Henfield Town. From the moment we arrived we received such a warm welcome. We ordered the oysters which were remarkable. The staff, in particular, Micky, was top of class. Micky was tentative and made our visit extremely enjoyable, so much so we spent the afternoon there eating and tasting their wide range of gins. We will be returning this week.

Having never visited the plough before we were looking for a pub within easy reach for all our family Service friendly and attentive directly to the table A full standard menu was supplied and specials were listed separately on a board....as it was Sunday our group opted for the Sunday roasts....chicken beef and lam to name a few! Deserts were also listed on the main standard menu with daily specials also listed separately too Lovely afternoon and meal Vegetables were supplied separately on another plate for the table to share Thank you guys for making our afternoon and for serving a delicious meal Credit where credit is due

The exception to this review is the table staff who seemed very nice and pleasant! The food made me feel sick because it was too rich and over seasoned and it was almost 2 hours late and for our troubles we got some second-hand finger nuts. They need to get a new chef, one that doesn't smoke, I'm guessing that's why he over flavours the food.

Really nice pub, friendly staff, nice garden and a good traditional pub. Our food wasn’t great, fish and chips - the fish was oven cooked as was flat underneath from the baking tray and was soggy and more breadcrumbed that batter. £15 The rib eye steak for £24 was extremely thin and had no fat or marbling and more like a minute steak.

£2.75 for a pint of lime and soda is ridiculous when The White Hart, which is a couple of doors down, sells it for £1 . And when I sat in the garden to drink it, there was a workman drilling and shouting at the work he was doing in a baltic language. So I couldn't even drink it in peace. It's the most I have ever paid for a pint of lime and soda anywhere. I'd never been in this public house before, but I thought I'd take a look, I will not be going in there again.

Yes you do 😊 As a group of ten we had decided last minute to find an eating house on our way home from Devils Dyke. What a lucky find! The staff were friendly and efficient, the food was plentiful and delicious (well the chef is french so I would expect nothing less!). Only popped in for a pre dinner drink as I was eating elsewhere. The place was full. Barman amazing. The Roasts looked great. Lots of happy locals. Gonna return for some grub soon.

My wife and I had lunch there on Saturday. The pub is quite small and has a nice traditional atmosphere. The service was excellent (thanks Julie), and the food was good. We would definitely go there again.

We've eaten here a number of times but having visited last night, we were very disappointed with the food. The squid was really tough, the burger needed to go back to be cooked as uncooked in the middle and my pasta dish was not pleasant at all. The staff were nice as always and the atmosphere good but think we'll try somewhere else next time.

Had Christmas dinner here, was disappointed. The staff were lovely but the food wasn’t what we expected. Some of our food was cold and the turkey reminded us of school dinner turkey. For £70 a head it really wasn’t worth it. The deserts were the only thing anyone really enjoyed apart from the cheeseboard…that wasn’t a cheese board. But thank you to the staff for making sure we were comfortable

All the food was amazing especially the cottage pie!! Service was brilliant too, can’t fault our visit and will be back!

Great atmosphere and great food

Excellent Sunday roast here today - best pub roast I've had in ages, in fact. Beautifully cooked belly pork (moist, succulent meat and crisp crackling; not excessively fatty as it can be..) good veg (would have liked a few more), everything piping hot.. Delicious pud, too, though expensive @ £7. (The main courses were priced between £15 and £18, which seemed more standard..) Anyway - nice staff, decent service, very pleasant environment to have lunch in - an all round good experience and I would happily recommend it to others.

This is a cosy pub featuring open fires in winter and a courtyard garden for the summer. Despite seemingly very frequent changes in management/ownership/chef and serving staff in the three years I’ve been going there, it manages to serve consistently good food. Fairly extensive menu with specials. Friendly staff. Locals drink at the bar so it is a traditional pub as well as a dining pub.

We had supper here in September 2022. Nice place, friendly staff. Food was good and reasonably priced. I would go again.

We popped into this lovely place on our way home. We were not disappointed. Lovely staff especially Iris our front of house staff. The food was absolutely amazing 🤩. Freshly cooked with wonderful homemade chips 🍟. My prawns were cooked perfectly and my husband’s carbonara was delicious. The Plough was friendly, exceptionally clean and very inviting. We will definitely be visiting again. Really want to try the Sunday roast. Thank you 😊

Went for lunch today ,haven't been since new owners took over. The food and service was excellent. You can always tell when food is home cooked. We asked if the mussels could be served in sauce without cream in it. most pubs serve them with cream sauce,and very often when you ask for no cream,they say its not possible....that's obviously means they are boil in bag or frozen with the sauce. we were delighted to be told that it was no problem to serve without cream in sauce...and they were delicious. They are also offering an excellent value lunch menu.. Great lunch experience...we will be back soon..thank you The plough.

Delicious food and excellent service. Sat in court yard in the evening lovely little sun trap. Menu consisted of lots of seafood and pasta everything we had was excellent. Also other options such as burgers etc.

Came across this pub and I was surprised by the welcome we both received no lamb cutlets however this was superb replacement personally I would have it on the menu regularly 😀

It was one of the best places we have eaten in, the service was first class and the food was top class and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a first class night

Absolutely charming place. Staff are really friendly, food was great. The dogs enjoyed themselves as well. I'm still dreaming of the Hungarian Bonfire cake we had for dessert.

We popped our heads in on a whim and to our luck, a table hadn't showed up so we managed to grab a quick roast. Have only good things to say - the service was excellent - attentive without being annoying, were very welcoming to our toddler and puppy, service was quick, food was tasty and portions were generous. Over-all a very positive and smiley experience. Sounds like we were lucky to have got a table, but we would be going back if we could :)

Had Lunch in the lovely garden. My Wife had the Hungarian Goulash and said it was fabulous. So very tasty. I had the very best battered fish I had ever tasted. Very light crispy batter and the fillet had all the skin removed. Perfect. The desert was to die for beautifully presented. Nori served us with the kind of service from yesteryear. So attentive.
