Had Chinese takeaway very tasty

We were in the area for a function and need a place to stay the night, the rooms are more American style (you access each room from the parking lot- not from the hotel lobby) which suited us perfectly as we got in at 1.30am. You do need to check in before 9pm to collect your keys. No pictures of the room as we were just exhausted when we got in- but everything you could need was available- hairdryer, kettle, tea coffee etc, toothbrushes and toiletries. Bed was spotless with clean linen, clean and modern bathroom with fresh towels. Even a Gideon’s Bible in the drawer! TV. And lots of parking. We were late for breakfast and thought we had missed it but we were still cheerfully offered a meal: cereals, fruits, yoghurts, waffles, cold meats, cheese, toast(probably more but that’s what I remember!) As well as hot food available. Wonderful host who was so gracious. Thank you! It was a wonderful stay!

Lovely place for a stopover. Food and service was first class. Rooms are clean and comfortable.

Didn't try the door, but we couldn't decide if it was open or not. If it was open, we would have gone in. Searches on the Internet for opening times etc drew a blank.

This is a very, very nice restaurant for Chinese food recommendation for anyone to try.. Gorgeous food..plus you can stay at this restaurant. They have rooms for rent. This restaurant is situated just outside pocklington. Very very nice 👌

Four of us stayed for 2 nights in mid-week for family visit and it was absolutely fantastic! The owners Mr and Mrs Chu were wonderful and gave us a great reception, very helpful and friendly people. Rooms were very nice and cosy and easily accessible from the car park. Love the continental breakfast with great healthy choices and good quality local Yorkshire bread. Plenty of space to park. We also tried the Mr Chu Chinese restaurant too and it was brilliant. Lovely food. So overall we all enjoyed the stay very much and will definitely go back if visiting the area again. Highly recommended. Definitely a hidden gem!

We had a Chinese evening meal here which was excellent. I am Gluten Free and if was the first time in over 12 yrs that I have been able to eat in a Chinese restaurant. I had Ginger & pineapple chicken with fresh vegetables in a sauce served with egg fried rice. The prawn crackers were delicious. The rest of my family shared banquet meals and the service was excellent. 😊

Made very welcome on arrival. Very comfortable room and bed. Very helpful with allowing to eat meal in room. Offered opportunity for early breakfast as I had to leave before official time. Breakfast was everything I needed. All in all, very friendly and helpful throughout. Thanks!

We went to Mr Chu Chinese restaurant which is inside the Plough Inn. Food and service good. The decor inside is very eclectic and a bit confusing. You walk into a lounge area that's like an olde world pub with wooden paneling and a few Chinese vases. In the dining area there's light wooden paneling like a sauna with lanterns. Not at all like traditional Chinese restaurants.

Clean room and hot shower, breakfast was limited but could of requested a full english

Stayed here one night and everything was perfect. From ringing to make the booking, arriving and being shown to our room, eating in the Chinese restaurant, sleeping in a very comfortable bed, eating a well cooked and hot breakfast and checking out we were looked after by experienced and very happy staff. It was a real pleasure to stay there. We will definitely return when in the area. Thank yoy.

Over many years we have eaten at this welcoming restaurant and never once been dissapointed. In September when they re-opened for business we were one of their first customers. The 45 miles drive from home was yet again worth it! As always I have never had an alcholic drink in this restaurant! I DONT DRINK AND DRIVE! Earlier this month we decided to stay for a night on my birthday. We had a choice of rooms and opted for no.12 which was perhaps one of the cleanest we have stayed in (we have stayed in many in the uK and abroard) and I got to have more than a couple of beers from their bar! So many nice touches there was everything and more in a super bathroom but the greatest treat was the buffet breakfast that was delivered to our door. We could not believe how substanial it was and how much we had left for a lunch when we got home.! WE SHALL BE RETURNING SOON IF U NO WHO WILL LET US! We have several times over the years eaten brushed shoulders with a senior member of Parliament. Our well wishes to him for his continued return to good health.

We found the staff very welcoming and helpful. The room was spotless and had 2 comfortable beds,also a very spacious bathroom. They served an adequate continental breakfast, with an option of a full English if ordered beforehand. The next time we visit York we would definitely book in at the Plough again, highly recommended for price and location

The rooms are basic but clean and tidy. Breakfast OK - continental with the usual basic offerings, but more than adequate. The Chinese restaurant that's part of it is, however, top notch and very highly recommended!

It was really good!!The staff were very friendly and helpful , especially Mrs Chu. The food was good even though we had not anticipated enjoying Chinese food. Accommodation good.

Hotel receptionist was amazing having waited till after midnight for us to check in after we were held up in York this weekend at a Rod Stewart concert. We had phoned her in a panic as we struggled to leave York racecourse but she was very reassuring and happy to wait for us.

Great one night stay to visit friends before Xmas. Lovely room and continental breakfast, there is a gym but did not use. Next time will be trying the restaurant as this looked excellent.

I can highly recommend this place always clean and tidy staff always friendly I have stayed here on several occasions the most recent 13th to 16th of September .

In view of the unprecedented heat wave, it was quite uncomfortable without a fan in the room. However, Ms Chu (who runs this hotel) kindly offered her only fan for our use. The breakfast was disappointing. Dinner all Chinese, was good but very expensive.

I stayed here when i visited York for a stag party, i had to come back to the hotel early as i needed to charge my phone cause of an emergency. I came down to sit in the bar and the locals were so friendly, The classic pub feel to the place is welcoming, the food in the Chinese restaurant attached to the hotel is incredible and the room was lovely. A nice sized tv, a big comfy bed and ensuite. I will be definitely going back but this time the misses wants to come 🙈

Went to order and collect Chinese...waited nearly an hour for it. Saturday night and there was only 2 staff on !!

It was my first experience for many years at the Plough Inn tonight Hayton and it was a fantastic meal the service was excellent the wine sweet nectar and the sweet was naughty and nice I can recommend the coconut ice cream

Room standard was better than some "luxury" places I've been in. Especially bathroom.

Never been there, but I can imagine that it's lovely. I'd probably choose the soup followed by the steak pie. I can imagine that the staff would be hardworking and above all eager to cater to my additional needs. Looking forward to our next visit.

A very lovely place to stay. The bar area has sectioned off seating areas which is great for groups or those seeking a quiet drink or a bit of privacy. Friendly staff and everyone receives a warm welcome. Great location.
