I have had a lot of diffrent Sunday Lunches in diffrent restaurants this is the best one yet! Great value for the money, lots of choices and homemade food. You help yourself and can even go back for more veg and gravy if you want. Very happy and helpful staff. Will definitely be going back.

Just back from a lovely Sunday carvery lunch. I had the roast beef and husband had the pork - both of which were perfectly cooked. Good choice of vegetables including cauliflower cheese, roast and mashed potatoes. Home made puds were great - we had lemon meringue roulade and the apple crumble was drizzled with a lovely salted caramel sauce. Staff were helpful and friendly, compliments to the chef for the delicious food - and great value too. We will come again

We popped in for a carvery as we were in the area and the reviews were ok. The pub is a 'local' boozer and serves mainly locals in the area. In all honesty it's a bit rough around the edges , which is fine but don't go expecting a well turned out gastro pub as you'll be disappointed. It's a basic local pub that is crying out for a refurb and a lick of paint tbh. The carvery itself was fairly tasty and did the job, but wasn't anything special. If you're after a quick bite to eat and you're not fussy then it's fine. If you're after a nice family meal in a nice setting this isn't the place , not for us anyway. Basic well cooked average pub grub, It's certainly not a gastro pub.

We visited for the Sunday carvery with a big group and had a great time. The meat was delicious and the vegetable selection was varied and also very tasty. Lots of the food was gluten free and there were yummy gluten free puddings too. Great way to serve the gravy too so everyone can take as much or as little as they like.

Heard really good things about this place so thought I would book the carvery. Booking in was fine and they were able to accommodate us. On arrival we were not greeted by any staff at the bar. A lot of local men came in and the manager took to serving them 1st although we had been waiting. We decided to wait by the restaurant where we were ignored by all staff, not one said anything. I went back to the bar and after about 5 minutes a lad spoke to me, I said I had booked. He then checked the diary and took us to the restaurant where he offered us a table and said just go to the carvery when your ready. We went to the carvery and yes good selection of meats and veg. Just as I was getting my meats the manager went to our table (which had been booked for someone else apparently) and want to take me stuff away, I just said to her that we were told to sit there to which not in a very polite voice "by who", I said the young lad at the bar. She then sat this family down somewhere else. I ask about drinks and was told I needed to go to the bar to get them, at this point the bar was busy so I left it a while. I only wanted 2 glasses of water but again was no acknowledged at the bar buy the staff. Again another 5 minute wait. Okay so the food, my meats were fine my husbands well his was chewy. Veg, over cooked carrots, undercooked peas, the roasted potatoes was solid in the middle from being cooked and reheated. Payment. Went to pay at the bar as no direction on what to do and I felt like I was be accused of trying to rob them. Got overly questioned about table numbers, tabs etc. Sorry not a great experience.

Well further to my last review this pub/restaurant has gone down in my books. Service was dismally slow, 15 minutes wait after ordering my drinks, meal arrived after 45 minutes. Meat had obviously been standing a while as it was dry and brown on the outside, vegetable portions had been cut drastically, whereas before you would get a separate serving of veg you now got a serving to share, other than that it was quite tasty. Staff can't seem to cope when there are more than a handful of customers, in fact a table for two left after being ignored for 20 minutes whilst a table of eight walked out after waiting an hour for their food. This pub changes hands fairly regularly, think we'll be waiting for the next change before we venture there again.

We went here for a roast dinner and was very disappointed. The menu said lamb shoulder but was served already cut up and moulded into a round shape. The vegetables were served separately so the plate looked a bit empty and just overall presentation was poor. Most things on the plate were burnt such as the yorkshire pudding, stuffing and pig in blanket which I didn't eat. The mash was very bland and thin and the cauliflower cheese was ok but tasted a bit like a packet mix which was also quite bland. only 2 very small roast potatoes.

Visited a fair few times now and the food is always consistently good at a very reasonable price. For families it’s a must as the quality of food is much better than some other local ‘more expensive’ establishments. The service is also good and the staff are always pleasant. The only criticism is that they could pay a little more attention to the back ground music during the day and early evening, not sure noisy pop music is the correct music to play while people are having a nice meal during the day, something a little less noisy would top the experience off. Keep up the good work.

Went to the plough this lunch time on easter Sunday got to the pub for 12.20 and was seated at our table, one hour and 20 minutes later we finally got our food, not sure behind the reason why it took so long but both my children were getting rather bored and hungry and to say the least I was getting hungry. I had the plough bugger which was really tasty but certain members of my family had roast dinners, the meat was ok but the veg was warm going on cold, so it wasn't a great meal seeing as we had to wait so long for it. Reasonable priced, nice and friend staff there and very helpful.

Four of us went for a meal on a Saturday evening, and were surprised and delighted at both the quality of the food and the excellent value for money. We had a variety of starters, mushrooms, prawns and a poached egg and bacon on a rosti base. All were such a generous size they could have served as a substantial snack, and the quality and presentation was very good for any sort of pub dining. Our mains were lamb, steak and a mixed grill, and everybody commented on the plateful of food we were offered. A request to hold on the minted sauce with one of the lamb orders was acted on, with a portion of fresh, unminted gravy being included. My mixed grill was possibly, no, probably, the best I have ever eaten, insofar as the extremely generous portion of high quality meat, and chunky chips, which were fluffy on the inside and with a crunchy outer, all cooked to perfection, (how often does a request for a rare steak in a mixed grill get met), but I would have likes a couple of onion rings and a grilled tomato with the meal. I do not know where on the plate they would have gone, as the meal had two pork sausages, a gammon rasher, slice of black pudding, pork steak, lamb fillet, and two very tasty and good sized pieces of steak, together with an ample portion of chips. For the first time for a long time I failed to clear my plate, and nobody had any room for pudding. Two courses each, two pints and two wines for around £45.00 was a bargain in my book, we will certainly use again. Our only other comment would be that the decoration in the dining room needs attention. If you go for a modernist, stripped back look, that's fine, but removing curtains and curtain rails, and leaving elegant brass hold back hooks is something of an anachronism. However, the food was so good, and the service so engaging, this was a minor glitch in an otherwise first class meal.

Meal out with a bunch of friends on a Saturday night. I had the New Yorker burger at £8.75 - the burger was pretty good, not at all generous with the cheese or barbecue sauce and a good vet could have had the bacon up and running around again in half an hour (floppy, barely cooked bacon isn't great on a burger.. crispy is the way to go guys!). Nice hand cut chips on the side, little bit of side salad and a very puny portion of coleslaw (yep puny portion... needed more). But yes, everyone seemed to enjoy their different meals and I didn't hear any complaints. Some of my friends had desserts but myself and a couple of others had our desserts from the cocktail menu. £4.95 per drink and all mixed to order and presented fabulously. Was rather disappointed that the bar had no Pimms (what the???) but managed to find a few other cocktails to try. All in all, decent pub grub and drinkies.

We had 25 of us eating here for my birthday and changed the orders on them a few times- but they were GREAT - food arrived promptly and all together and they couldn't do enough to help us. The big table / area we were in was really communal too - which was great because sometimes a big group can be split up and it feels like you are not eating together - not here. My meal was a bit salty/oily but everyone else had no complaints so I think that may have just not been to my taste. The atmosphere in there is great - nice local feel.

I would have given 5 star if it was based only on my meal, however others in the group were not as impressed. Nice restaurant, nice steak and ale pie.

This was a return visit as we enjoyed it so much last time. The pub/restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and is nicely decorated. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. There was a good choice on the menu and everything we ordered was delicious, compliments to the chef ! Looking forward to our next visit.

I've been here a few times now with my family and friends, absolutely love it! What a great place with great atmosphere and lovely, very helpful, attentive staff who make you feel so welcome. Visited over the Christmas/New Year period and had the mixed grill which was everything you want in a mixed grill and not for the faint hearted! My wife had the steak with peppercorn sauce which she absolutely loved. All cooked to perfection! Will definitely be calling on a regular basis from now on. If you haven't already been, I would highly recommend you give it a try, you won't be disappointed!

Came for some food with a friend and I ordered the steak rare with peppercorn sauce, the steak was near wood like, and the peppercorn sauce was tasteless and that watery it just formed a puddle ruining the whole meal, the opinion rings were that greasy I instantly felt sick after attempting to eat one, will not be going back as this is the second time now the food has been inedible

The Plough has had mixed fortunes over the past few years, but the new management/Chef seem to have got the food nailed now. I have visited twice now in a month, once for Sunday lunch with the family, & once for the a la carte. Both meals were superb value, & the service was excellent. It was a shame that the place was very quiet. I think it is still suffering from past experiences with a poor management. I would highly reccomend the Plough now, & wish it a prosperous future. Keep it up.

Four of us had a meal at The Plough in Old Colwyn. Beer at a reasonable price with a good choice of real ale. The mixed grill is one of the best I have had in a long time. Good value for money and good friendly service.

My experience at The Plough genuinely made my weekend away a true joy. As we drove in down the main road through Old Colwyn I was slightly disappointed at the lacklustre appeal of the town. I was told by a friend to expect friendly, welcoming people and a sunset to die for. Luckily my expectations were saved after we checked into the Marine hotel, we immediately sought out a friendly looking place for food. Down the road was The Plough where the door and was held open for us by a passer by and the smell of home cooked food was enchanting! I don't want to give too much away but the food here is 100% worth a try if you're ever in the area. Lovely staff, great decor and a vibe that screams 'home'. Hope you enjoy as much as I did.

This is my first review. I Moved away and recently returned for a family visit. They suggested visting The Plough, as it is under new managment. This surprised me as in the past this pub wouldn't of been my first thought for dining. On arrival, I was greeted with genuine warm welcome and was offered a table and drink in the bar/lounge. I couldn't believe the great prices of the ales on offer & all of the other drinks in fact! The service I received was second to none as well. How can people be so helpful & friendly all of the time?! Far better than some of the independant restauants in the area from my past expriences.I tried a special from the board, the orange duck. I can honesty say it looked fabuolus and tasted just as good.My company delved into the mammoth Plough Burger and was equally impressed. So much Burger in fact, they couldn't finish it!The atmosphere was busling in the bar but relaxed & comfortable in the restaurant area. This area has always sufferedfrom places to dine which actually deliver, this establishment has raised the bar for others. *edit* I've been back.

Went for lunch today for the first time. Lovely fresh food. I had the scampi which was nice and golden brown with homemade chips . Husband had the gammon with homemade chips. A joy to find chips cooked like that as a lot of places do frozen. Staff were attentive and friendly, checked we were enjoying our meal. Will definitely return.

Another visit to this lovely site and this brilliant restaurant. The food is always gorgeous and tasty. The staff are really friendly and always make you feel so welcome. We had two evening meals there and a Sunday Roast which was simply the best we have ever tasted. So you can imagine our shock and horror when we were told that the bar and restaurant is to knocked down to accomodate two more mobile homes. This is an absolute travesty and will be a huge loss to the site. In fact a site with zero facilities will not be top of my list in the future. Thanks to Mo and the team for doing such a brilliant job.
