Wonderful experience for a birthday celebration. Dave is a wonderful host and the food is amazing. Thank you for making the evening so enjoyable.

The restaurant is now high end dining and the menu reflects that. We had oysters & beef carpaccio to start with followed by beef blade (x2) and then poppyseed cake/poppyseed sorbet & chocolate mousse. The food was very tasty and fresh. More expensive than your average pub but definately worth it. Treat yourself. Enjoy

A delicious meal with an interesting menu. Scallops and wild trout as a starter were delicious. The plaice was cooked to perfection and Guinea fowl succulent with lovely black pudding croquettes and fresh green vegetables. Exceeded our expectation for a village pub. The service was spot on.

Food was well prepared but not a real high end meal experience you would expect at this cost, room for improvement. Nobody asked after dessert if there was anything else they could offer, 60 minutes until midnight called the taxi nothing happening here, so will miss out on the midnight English sparkling wine!

Outstanding menu selection - we were spoiled for choice! Food was very good indeed - it's no wonder that they have recently been awarded an AA rosette. We were there on a Monday lunchtime and dined from their excellent value blackboard menu. £31 for three courses is remarkable value for money. Well done to David and his team - this charming pub and restaurant is destined to do very well. One to watch I think!

Excellent quality food, wine and welcome expertly delivered by David, Sarah and the team at a very reasonable price, (especially when you consider the quality that’s on offer here). 5 stars.

Exceptional cooking that perfectly complimented my husband’s birthday celebrations. We had delicious grilled brill with artichokes two ways with samphire and pheasant Kiev with a bourgignon sauce, a wonderful treat. Wonderful atmosphere with locals at the bar and diners all having a brilliant evening

Absolutely worth the 5 star reviews. We were customers at The Fox and Hounds Charwelton for the same reasons. In this new tenancy there is more room and the dining area has more character. It is winter and there are two lovely wood burning stoves. What has not changed is the choice and quality of food presentation, also it is very good value for money. Not to be missed and they also provide lunches.

We wanted a lunch which was a step up from the usual pub food and that's exactly what we got. The menu is not too long, always a good sign, and there were some very different options, such as salt cod, lambs kidneys (fabulous) and gurnard or ling as fish choices. The wine list is extensive and ranges from decent value to expense account - assuming those still exist. We had a Portuguese red from Lisboa - again not something you see very often. The only slight disappointment was the Bakewell tart dessert, which is better when we make it at home. We'll definitely be back again soon.

Last night was our second visit and dinner at the Plough since it reopened and it was just as great as the first. The food quality is exceptional and, really good value. An excellent Crew to look after you and great customer care. This visit was for our wedding anniversary and it was the right choice. "Thank You" , Nige and Katie

An absolutely fabulous meal in the restaurant, hosted by the landlord David. There's a good range of dishes to choose from on an ever-changing menu, with plenty of local produce used in the cookery. Restaurant is more formal but still relaxed, bar area is vibrant and friendly. There's also a lovely large beer garden to sit in. Be aware that they do have a very small kitchen so booking ahead is essential to avoid long delays between ordering and receiving your food. It is always worth the wait though!

We went for coffee and also had a scone, jam and cream each. The latter were superb although we were not expecting the scones to be warm (with cold cream). The coffees came in cups which were only 3/4
