Booked for breakfast with Santa after being recommended by friends so was looking forward to it. Good points: - Arrived and young girls on the door very pleasant. - Entertainment from song & dance factory was great for the kids. Not so good points: - No lift access to function suite for prams. - The room was soo overcrowded, was at least 130/140 people so was very squashed together leaving the dance floor space crammed for kids games - Breakfast buffet took soo long to get served, massive queues - Food kept running out so was waiting a while for this to be replenished - No reduced prices for babies (as would not be eating from buffet) Not sure I would recommend or return in future for events here.

Regretfully writing this but if I and others like me don't comment then no one listens. Anyway me and my wife whenever we are passing through or visiting family pop in here for usually a nice bit of dinner,,went for dinner on Sunday and we had soup to start with bread and butter(lovely chicken and rice) soup then we ordered steak and sausage pie with chips and veg (small portion and no sausage in the sausage and steak pie.. My wife had what was titled smothered chicken and peppercorn sauce with chips and veg ,iv added a photo of the wafer thin chicken slice and the watery peppercorn sauce,,by the way the chips n veg were cracking..please don't take this personal but more of a heads up on what others maybe thinking too..better to sort it than lose it..

21/01/23. This was our second visit to The Plough Hotel Restaurant since the place was done up. We were regular visitors to the Plough for many years ago and the meals were always good, then the restaurant started going downhill a bit. We’d booked a special family meal for a birthday and we were let down by them on the day as they wanted to have us sit in the bar instead of the restaurant, 6 adults and children in the bar on a Saturday afternoon with the football on, I wasn’t happy about that so refused to accept the move, so they just cancelled us. We didn’t go back to the Plough for 6 years until I recently read the reviews on Tripadvisor. Anyway, I went in yesterday with my wife and father-in-law. The new owners of the Plough Hotel have really pulled out all the stops and have turned it into a lovely nice & comfortable restaurant, it is a pleasure to eat there. The staff are really nice, Sandra the restaurant manager makes you feel very welcome and nothing is too much trouble. The menu is a good size with all the usual favourites on it but it isn’t overloaded with meal choices which is a good thing, there is a main menu and a snack menu so there’s plenty of choice. The old fella had the Steak & Sausage Pie with Chips, my wife had the Fish & Chips and I had the Macaroni Cheese & Chips. The food is freshly cooked and well worth the wait which in reality wasn’t that long considering how busy it was on a Saturday lunchtime. The portion sizes are very generous there is plenty on the plates, the Mac Cheese was too much for me (and that says something 😄). After the table was cleared we were asked if we’d like to see the Sweet menu, the Old fella wanted Ice Cream so I took the Apple Pie & Custard. I couldn’t believe the size of the portion when the Crumble came out, it was big enough for two.. in fact it was because I couldn’t finish it so my wife, who didn’t want anything, managed to finish off what I couldn’t eat. She said that she would order the Crumble the next time, I’d better have a slice of cake on that day then coz there’s no way my wife would finish that, lol. The biggest surprise of our meal was the bill, including a Vodka & Cola, Half Pint of Best, an OJ & an Irn Bru, the bill came to £46.40! Now if that’s not value for money in these times where everything is going up then I don’t know what is. We would highly recommend The Plough Hotel for a meal and will definitely be returning on a regular basis, in fact my daughter and I are going in this Thursday for breakfast. I’ve seen the “gut buster” breakfast challenge that they do, I don’t think I’ll be attempting that. I wouldn’t be able to eat for a month if I tried that. In closing, thank you to Sandra and her team for a lovely warm welcome and to the chef for a terrific meal.

A 2 course meal for two with drinks for a little over £30! A hearty large bowl of soup & a beautiful chicken butterfly with peppercorn sauce and great home made chips put a large smile on my wife's face and there was so much on the plate she left some! For me I had lovely succulent mushrooms for starters and "between the sheets" a wrap filled with beef and veg and a sweet creamy sauce, doubled over with cheese grilled on top again accompanied by the fat home made chips! Excellent food served quickly and hot by a pleasant Welsh lassie. The surroundings could have been a bit more presentable and there was a lot of noise from the public bar next door, but hey! That didn't stop us from enjoying the meal. Unusually for a restaurant there was a large screen tv on the wall showing a race meeting, but as my back was to it it didn't really bother me.

First and last rime there . Cheap and cheerful lovely waitress, shame about the food. Smothered chicken was cold tasteless and looked more like run over with a bus chicken rather than smothered. Frozen veg. Tastless . Frozen chips . Nicest thing on the plate. Steak pie had soggy sour pastry that looked old and unappetising and no gravy. So bad i declined a pudding. Best thing about thevisit was a cheerfil waitress who did her best. And the 2 stars are down to her not the food

We ordered 5 desserts and although they were equally good we had to submit without finishing them.Well worth a visit and brightened up a dreich Tuesday night

Went for a late lunch with my wife and was disappointed with the meal. I had The Plough topper which sounded nice. Boy was I wrong! A soggy piece of garlic bread topped with mushroom and cheese and a non existent peppercorn sauce. It cost £4.50 and I think it cost 20p to make and tasted like it! Followed by the gallon steak which I think maybe it the pan for about 2 mins each side with the fat still white and glistening! Yum! Not! To finish off when I went to pay I was informed that as it had new owners the card machine wasn't working! Surely you should be told when u enter? Cue an embarrassing walk to a cash machine! All in all a disappointing meal and a place I will certainly not be rushing back to.

We are locals, and the last time I went in would be 18months back. Since then they have done a refurbishment. Much improved. They are visibly trying hard. The chef is much better, his onion rings were great but let down by a mediocre onion. The food was generally very good, much better. Being hyper critical, the decor still needs work. The area of tables for two is clostraphobic rather than intimate. Mirror the walls, or put a window to look in on the kids play area. Let light in, make it feel bigger. Make sure the external shutters are clearing the door, etc. We will be back soon based on today, visible improvements. Still some way to go, but it's silly stuff rather than fundamental. A good place to grab a meal, but not yet a valentines destination.

Went here for a quick bite to eat after work and it was great! Didn't expect anything more than normal pub food, but it had a delicious menu! We both had the chicken Mexicana which was so yummy. The chicken was cooked to perfection! The staff were lovely and attentive and the restaurant part itself was very nice and great prices too! 2 courses for £10 can't argue with that! Will definitely be back!

Came across this place purely by chance, but, fate had decided to give a helping hand, as the food, and staff, were first class. As is usual for me, I always try the steak when visiting a new, for me, restaurant, and, hit the jackpot here. Really well done, but, still succulent in the middle. Home made onion rings, another plus nowadays, as most places use those awful, frozen food store ones.Had pate to begin with, which was really smooth, and tasty, with toasted granary bread. Excellent!Partner had haggis fritters, which were really nice too, followed by steak pie, which again hit the spot. In fact, all the food here is home cooked on the premises, from scratch, using local, fresh produce. All this for £10 a head, plus £3 surcharge for the steak, which is more than fair. will certainly make a point of visiting here again.Only remains for me to give a special thanks to Marnie. She was a star, explained all about the food, served us with a smile, and contributed to a very pleasant day.Well don Marnie!!

We were just passing here & thought we'd pop in for lunch. Food is served all day. 3 course for £12 or 2 course for £10. For starters we had chicken liver pate with toast, onion chutney & side salad. & haggis fritters with HP sauce & side salad. Both were well presented & tasty. For mains we had a 10oz rump steak with pepper sauce, homemade onion rings tomato & chips it was £3 extra.Cooked exactly as requested. Plus a steak pie chips & veg. Both were very enjoyable!! Marnie who served us was lovely, very efficient , great at her job. Would definitely recommend this place for something to eat as it's all home made from scratch. Will be back. Thanks Marnie.

Just had a hard day. Decided to go to Plough for a quiet pint and a Braveheart Burger. As usual the food, beer and service were second to none. Well done chef and staff.

The Plough has unfortunately been taken over by the same Gentleman as The Park Hotel and The Beancross all of which are local to Falkirk. The problem is the owner does not reside in the U.K and there is a poor Management structure leading to poor standards. What hour left with is over priced food and inflated prices, this is a great shame as all of these places have enjoyed better days. Daniel one of the better chefs tries very hard to raise standards but his efforts are not appreciated by his line Managers. On the up side all of these venues have comfortable setting and are a nice way to spend some down time even if the prices are a little on the high side.

Dined here with a party of ten and we ate from the Christmas set menu - two courses for £12 or three courses for £14.Let's be clear - this is not fine dining - it is fresh, simple food well-cooked and presented.I had prawn cocktail - very generous portion and attractively presented in a sundae glass. Others enjoyed homemade soup or pate.As a main I had salmon with a pesto cream sauce. The salmon was beautifully cooked and I liked the sauce more than I expected to. It came with creamed potato and pan-fried veg. Others enjoyed turkey with all the trimmings and steak pie.Christmas pudding was also delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. One member of our party has a disability. The staff were respectful, helpful and patient - all requests were met with a smile. This is the mark of a good restaurant.I would definitely go back as it is very local for me.As others have said, it could do with some redecoration (we were downstairs) and some Christmas decorations would have brightened it up. To increase their business they need to get some help with their website and Facebook page and regularly update their menus - it is hard to find out what is on offer.

What a fabulous party night my workmates & I attended on the 2nd December 2016! For only £30 we enjoyed a lovely three course meal, followed by an excellent Gary Barlow tribute act. We all thoroughly enjoyed our night out..........great service, great entertainment, great value for money!

I attended a Christmas Party night at the Plough on 2nd December 2016 and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening, along with several of my work colleagues. We paid £30 per head for a quite acceptable "pub grub" meal ( my steak pie was excellent), the bar prices were very reasonable and the entertainment in the form of a Gary Barlow tribute act was first class. Sorry I can't remember the singer's full name, Chris?, but he was fabulous, encouraging us all to join him on the dance floor. All in all we were very happy and felt we had value for money considering how expensive some of the local hotels can be at Christmas.

Sadly popped in for dinner tonight and there was a new festive menu which had hardly any choices I will return in the new year when the menu returns to normal hopefully the management take my review on board even the portion size was smaller and the cajun chicken needs a sauce as it was dry

We tried this one Saturday lunch time, the food is very nice, it's well presented and homemade but the place needs a bit of clean up. It's a good drop in place, don't expect gourmet stuff for what you pay for. It's very reasonably priced and has a good menu to choose from....

Went to the Tea House but it was 45 mins before opening time so we decided to try the Plough instead. The decor is ok, the menu is fairly standard pub grub, service was a little on the slow side, food was on the wrong side of average and the price was mid range for this type of establishment so all in all not a great experience next time we'll just wait for the Tea House to open.

Popped in to ask for a lunch menu as we hadn't been before and wanted to have a look before deciding where to go. The server made us wait 5 minutes before saying to follow her through the restaurant to the other end to get a menu. Firstly I felt uncomfortable walking past diners just to look at a menu when we weren't staying at that point and secondly why couldn't she just bring it over to us in the quieter area we were standing in. After looking at the menu we turned to leave only to be bombarded with pensioners trying to get seated. They were clearly annoyed that we were standing in the way. All this could easily have been avoided. This has left a bad taste in my mouth and we most definitely won't be back for lunch.

I don't like the new menu as much as the old one. The soup selection and starters do not appeal to me as much. The sweet selection also poor. The prtions are smaller. The main courses are still good and great value.

Went here for a large family meal, staff made sure we had plenty of room in the restaurant for us all as we took up most of the space. Staff were very understanding and patient with the younger kids walking about in and out the kids play room. Service was understandably a little slower as there was so many of us which was to be expected. Staff were very friendly and we were grateful that they allowed us to have our family meal there when they had to turn away so many customers. Food was good and would definitely recommend to friends. Booked again for my kids birthday dinner next month!

Popped into The Plough for lunch with a friend for the first time and had a thoroughly enjoyable meal. The staff were friendly and attentive. The menu choice was varied and also a 2 and 3 course set lunch with several options. The mushroom soup I had was the best I have tasted in a long time. For a 2 course meal at £10, it was good value. I would definitely visit again.

We booked for sunday lunch recently. You dont really need to book as you can mainly just walk in and get a table except at the busiest times but we had one of their cards that gives 10% off if you book so we did! The carvery was our choice and I have to say it was a really lovely meal. Choice of steak pie, vegetable pie, roast beef, roast ham or chicken breast with ample supplies of roast and boiled potatoes, cauliflower cheese and a host of other veg all helped down by a tasty gravy ( with a veggie option) and a couple of tasty yorkshire puddings. Well satisfied, we were glad we hadnt had a starter although we had been tempted! The staff were so friendly and helpful and couldnt do enough for you. The surroundings have been refurbished and are pleasant and comfortable and the tables are far enough apart that you are not in everyone elses conversation. This was our first visit to Harveys but it wont be the last. Good honest tasty food, great service and very resonable prices. You should try it, they deserve to succeed in business.

Waiting for meals for over 30 minutes. Other tables served. Meal obviously warmed up, hot outside, cold inside. Returned meal, refund issued, did not require any replacement meal. Soft drinks ordered and arrived just before we left. Issues with time waiting on bill

This chef can cook! Restaurant can be very warm if the sun is shine and can be blinding if you sit in the wrong position. I tried the chicken terrine was was ok but not the best. The steak and haggis pie is to die for as are the chef’s soups of the day. Breakfast in the main was fine however bacon too salty and had better potato scones but the best poached eggs ever. The food in this restaurant is the highlight of the hotel and would recommend eating there if your staying or passing.

Ate here for 4 nights whilst away with work. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Food was good, some dishes better than others, I had the lamb shoulder, beef burger, steak and a sea food linguine. The steak was ok but really overpriced and served on a Wetherspoons style plate, one sorry looking mushroom and tomato served up with it! The Burger was tasty if a little underdone (no issue for me but maybe check people are ok with served pink!) The lamb was amazing. Seafood linguine wasn’t to my taste. Deserts had plenty of choice but only the sticky toffee did it for me, the rest were mediocre and seemed defrosted. Again expensive for what they are. Atmosphere was ok each night, didn’t spend long in there. I wouldn’t say it’s got a lot of charisma about it though! 4/5 all in as the staff where great!
