The Plough & Harrow in St Albans

Big party for Lunch. We pre-booked the meals and the service was quick and excellent. Great play area for the younger kids (and bigger ones too). All in all we had a lovely visit and I would recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed food, atmosphere, friendly and cheerful staff. I cannot wait to visit again. Prices good too.

We arrived thinking the meals and service must be good as the dining area was packed on a Tuesday. We were right! Great variety on the menu, with a few other items on the specials board, and all appear to be decent size portions. We enjoyed one of the pies and the vegetarian chilli. Yum. Don't look too hard at other people's meals or you'll get food envy! Service was also very good. Staff member Dianne was particularly good - welcoming, helpful and friendly.

The garden is a lovely place to sit in the summer and the bouncy castle keeps kids happy and out from under your feet! We’ve had some very reasonable food in here at a good price.

Took my Brother and his wife and family to celebrate his 70th Birthday. Food was tasty, home-cooked, good honest fare, nothing too fancy but just right for a family occasion.

One of the best pubs for Beer, food, entertainment and Atmosphere I’ve been to in long time. The Landlord and Landlady spot on. Best bar staff, polite, quick and chatty. Would recommend to anyone who likes good music and a good night.

Good price of drinks and comfy cozy space. Fun games machines and darts, although some machines can be temperamental, one of the machines was slow and unresponsive.

Proper pub food without all the 'gastro' nonsense = sensible prices. Enough choice of beers to keep most people happy. Sky sports (on mute at lunchtime at least) on 2 screens. Great service and friendly staff. I'll be back.

Went here to do a job for the brewery and landlord brought us out a drink. Top man. 👍

This local pub in Harpenden, Hertfordshire is occasionally frequented by members of my wife's family who we were visiting. We've been there several times before and always found the quality of the food to be good, the cost reasonable and the atmosphere friendly. I went for a vegetarian chilli which came with a separate plate of sour cream, jalapenos and cheese to add along with some tortilla chips. The chilli was mild but tasty and the Jalepenos gave it a bit of a kick. Other meals included poached salmon, Thai fish cakes and a generous full English breakfast. Traditional puddings were the main dessert options. Crumbles are definitely a favourite of mine so that was an easy choice. The oyb itself has a traditional feel and at that time of day ( lunchtime) the clientele were mainly older folk having lunch with just a small amount of people just in for a drink. The pub has a dart board located in a separate and safe area. It also has a function room. There is plenty of parking and it is free.

Good modern spacious pub nicely tuckedvawsy at the back end of Harpenden. Offers ales , the usual suspects , selection of bottled + spirits. Eclectic seating, large flat screen TV & some top notch live bands. Bad Penny played here recently & they were brilliant. Car park too.

Nourriture correcte mais les toilettes sont INSALUBRES j'ai très rarement vu ça. (Toilettes bouchés, mal nettoyer etc...)

The most traditional of the Southdown pubs; a one room bar with a private function room out back. A little too dominated by Sky Sports screens for my liking. Although one side of the room is set out for dining, there is no segregation from the sports screens / noise, so I personally wouldn’t eat here. The staff member who served me was nice and attentive, and my pint of guest cask was good. Absolutely nothing wrong with this place, just not my personal preference.

Lunch here very good. We had the OAP/ 'smaller' menu choice, which includes a cup of tea and coffee, more than enough, and really nice. Excellent chips! Friendly service. Will go again and recommended.

Very very slow service (circa half + hour wait) for a pre ordered meal! I thought the ham, for ham egg and chips was disgusting - I just hope I don't have an upset stomach, from eating it. Similar wait for the dessert of ice cream. I would certainly not eat there again. All be warned.

Unfortunately I choose the lasagne for lunch which was tasteless and had a thick coating of a greasy mild cheese. Would have been far better with a bechemel sauce made with strong cheddar and the mince filling needs to be made with more tomato & some herbs to give some flavour. My friend had the chicken pie which he said was very nice. I was very disappointed 😞

Came here for an engagement party a couple of weeks ago. Staff here are really friendly and the service was really quick! The outdoor space is large and there's a play area outdoors for the kids. Place could do with abit of an update decor wise inside. There is also a small carpark.

Really lovely, friendly pub. Can cater for occasions (catered for my grand mothers wake and many large family gatherings). Staff are so friendly and helpful. Also great to just stop in for a meal. The food is lovely, proper homemade pub grub. The proper english pudding like bread and butter pudding and crumble are to die for. 😍😍😍

We discovered the Plough and Harrow for lunch before a rugby match at Harpenden RFC! We were not disappointed, so welcoming, great food and wine, all in all, great value. Thank you Nick and Susan, you lovely girls, for looking after us so well, we'll, like Arnie, be back!

Unbelievably high prices for their beer. Can’t understand why taking into account the location and client base! it may because of the incessant intrusion of Sky Sports together with the disruptive noise from the supporters! who are happy to pay a premium for their beer
